Rectangle Stroke Problem

Hi, I'm fairly new to Flash, and I'm trying to create a
preloader. I drew a simple rectangle with a stroke and a fill.
However, when I select the border of the rectangle only one side is
selected. What do I need to do to select the entire rectangle
stroke border and not just one side?

don't single click - double click - if all lines are
connected or intersected, they will all be
selected on double click.

  • Mac CS5 Illustrator rectangle/round rectangle stroke problem...

    I have an IMac with 10.6.3. and have CS5 installed. But i have encountered a problem in Illustrator.
    When I draw a rectangle or round cornered rectangle I can't stroke it below 1 point. It just snaps back to 1pt.
    It is fine though when drawing a circle, star etc. in the same tool.
    The blue outline and handles go completely out of position if I align the stroke to inside or outside. And then if I
    reduce the stroke I can BUT it kind of cuts the rectangle weirdly.
    This is a BIG problem...please help someone.

    n,
    You should untick Align to pixel grid in the transform palette/panel.

  • Adobe photoshop cs5 stroke problems

    Dear Adobe Team,
    We are using adobe Photoshop CS5 in our HP Workstation machine, but since we changed our OS in windows 7 we are facing stroke problems.
    Like whenever we draw a straight stroke than it does not go straight it becomes curve type. Please find the below attached image of stroke.
    We are using cintiq Pen display & HP z420 workstation.
    So requesting you to kindly provide the solution ASAP

    Well, works perfectly here... (PSElements 6 “Mac”)...
    Select your image or specify an area...
    Go to Filter / Render / Lighting Effect.../ and specify your desired options...
    If that doesn’t work, delete the preference file...
    If that doesn’t work either, you might have to reinstall PS Elements...

  • CS5 stroke problems

    Hi guys.
    Yeah, i know, actually there's a discussion here about cs5 stroke problems.
    But my problem is a little bit different (sorry if i'm wrong).
    If i just draw an open path i can use any stroke weight i want to, but if i join the path with another open path or close the path that i'm working, it automatically changes the stroke to 1pt and i can't change its weight.
    Well, i could be wrong, but any adobe program uses XML in order to create anything and any file, right? So, is there any way to change this information edditing this XML?
    Maybe this can help us to change some settings that we cannot change after we create a new document (like "align new objects to pixel grid").
    Thanks for reading.
    Cheers.

    That's not the normal behaviour. Elaborate what you're doing in detail.

  • CS3 Outline Stroke Problems

    I don't know if anyone else has noticed this. But since upgrading to CS3, I've got a serious problem moving the points from a stroke I changed to an object with the Outline Stroke command. I use this quite often, since I like the control it gives me over the look of a line.
    But with CS3, when I move some point at the end of the line, it turns out that there are sometimes even 3 overlapping points. This is very annoying. I could lasso select, but then, of course, I need to be in outline view or else I select the underlying object. The Clean Up command does not help. This is really not workable. It used to work so smoothly, and now there's overlapping points all over the objects.
    I've been looking to see if there is any documentation about this. But I cannot find anything. Have there been any changes in how the outline is created? Are there points added when you move one? Are there new settings / options I have not found yet that can reset the behavior to CS2-and-before style?
    Help wanted. Thanks.
    Mark

    > Also, I noticed that some hard corner points are very hard to move. Because when you try, it turns out you're pulling a bezier handle. It's impossible to move those points without just pulling the handle.
    Are you referring to paths in general, or paths created by Outline Stroke?
    If the former, I haven't noticed that happening at all. I see exactly the opposite. Due to the larger hit radius and the preference given to anchor point hits over direction point hits, as well as the highlighting of anchor points within the hit radius, it is
    easier in CS3 to be sure of moving the anchor point instead of accidentally hitting the adjacent bezier edge or a direction handle that happens to be very short. (Of course if the mouse is outside the hit radius of any anchor point but within the hit radius of a bezier curve or direction control point, it will adjust direction handles instead, but that has always happened, and the anchor point hit radius is bigger now.)
    But maybe you're making different kinds of paths than I do. I do not know what you mean by a "hard corner point" vs just a corner point. Do you noticed anything that distinguishes the anchor points that move as expected from the cases where the direction handle moves instead?

  • Gradient with stroke problem Illustrator CS3

    We make a gradient object in Illustrator CS3 and give it a stroke which is centered. Then we rotate the object and the gradient rotates with the object.
    But then when we put the stroke alignment to inside or outside the gradient fails. It shows the gradient in the original 0-position instead of the angle we have created. When we put the stroke alignment back to center the gradient shows as we meant it to show again.
    When stroke alignment is on outside or inside before we rotate the object it shows the same problem.
    But when I copy an object from CS2 with an angled gradient and a inside or outside aligned stroke. The problem isn't there. When we start copying the object within CS3 the problem shows again (not when I use alt-key to copy, but with ctrl+c and then ctrl+v, ctrl+f or ctrl+b).
    Illustrator CS2 didn't have this problem. But now in CS3 we have it. I used to have this same problem in old versions from Macromedia Flash. But I never had it with Illustrator.
    Is this a bug or do we need to handle our gradients in a different way when using Illustrator CS3?

    It's a memory issue. If you scale your artwork down (say, to 50%), then save, it should work (it can be scaled up in the page layout software). If you're using raster effects you'll have to make sure they scale as well and that your raster effects resolution is appropriate for the final output size.

  • Rectangle tools problem

    I'm using Adobe CS4. I have funny problem with my rectangle tools. Everytime I'm using it to create a rectangular, by default it draws a rectangular that has been rotated 45degree.It just won't draw straight rectangular. The same case if I draw rounded rectangular.
    Is there any setting that I need to change or what's wrong?
    Thanks.

    Look in your Preferences>General and see what is in the Constrain Angle window. Sounds like it's set to 45°.

  • Gt780r keyboard lag, skip stroke problem..

    It's getting worse and worse for me. Now I can't play games or type well due to random lag and skip stroke on keyboard that happens every few seconds. I noticed this problem since day 1 but I tried to convince myself it was just my imagination coz this thing has mighty steelseries keyboard. If I just press the key one by one at slower speed, it works fine but when my apm goes high, it just becomes a mess. I did some research and ask ppl around on other notebook forums too and now I see it's not just me but bunch of other ppl as well.. I am surprised why this thing hasn't got recalled yet or maybe first batch units were bad.. Where do I get replacement or money back for this? I bought this from xoticpc.com which is pretty well known reputated vendor. If getting replacement fixes the problem, that's fine but I feel very uneasy about this since so many of gt780r having same problem. I need some help here... First battery draining problem and now, the keyboard became practically unusuable for me. I absolutely love this anti-glare matte screen and pretty backlit though.. It's a shame that such pretty unit has to suffer from these issue. :(

    I think the battery issue is solved, turn iCharger in bios. Been trying to duplicate you're keyboard problem but have been unable. Perhaps some explanation of how to duplicate the problem?

  • Rectangle constructor problem

    Ok, i've seen a couple posts on this in other threads, but it seemed like people were asking for you guys to complete their homework for them. This is an assignment calling for us to construct 2 rectangles, modify the second, then verify that the first remained unaltered. This is my main code here:
    public static void main(String[] args)
              // Creates object "rectangle A"
              Rectangle rectangleA = new Rectangle();
              // Tests rectangle A's components
              System.out.println("Rectangle A's componenets are as follows:");
              System.out.println("Height: " + rectangleA.getHeight());
              System.out.println("Width: " + rectangleA.getWidth());
              System.out.println("Color: " + rectangleA.getColor());
              // Creates object "rectangle B"
              Rectangle rectangleB = new Rectangle(2, 2, "Blue");
              // Tests rectangle B's components
              System.out.println('\n' + "Rectangle B's components are as follows:");
              System.out.println("Height: " + rectangleB.getHeight());
              System.out.println("Width: " + rectangleB.getWidth());
              System.out.println("Width: " + rectangleB.getColor());
              // Checks setComponent methods on rectangle B for functionality
              rectangleB.setHeight(3);
              rectangleB.setWidth(4);
              rectangleB.setColor("Azul");
              // Checks the changes to rectangle B
              System.out.println('\n' + "Rectangle B's new components are as follows:");
              System.out.println("Height: " + rectangleB.getHeight());
              System.out.println("Width: " + rectangleB.getWidth());
              System.out.println("Color: " + rectangleB.getColor());
              // Prints components of rectangle A to verify that it has remained unaltered
              System.out.println('\n' + "Rectangle A's components are still:");
              System.out.println("Height: " + rectangleA.getHeight());
              System.out.println("Width: " + rectangleA.getWidth());
              System.out.println("Color: " + rectangleA.getColor());
    }Here is the second class, including the completed (as correct as I could come haha) rectangle constructors and methods:
    public class Rectangle
         private double width = 1;
         private double height = 1;
         private static String color = "White";
         public Rectangle()
         public Rectangle(double width, double height, String color)
              this.width = width;
              this.height = height;
              this.color = color;
         public double getWidth()
              return width;
         public void setWidth(double width)
              this.width = width;
         public double getHeight()
              return height;
         public void setHeight(double height)
              this.height = height;
         public static String getColor()
              return color;
         public static void setColor(String color)
              Rectangle.color = color;
         public double findArea()
              return (this.getHeight() * this.getWidth());
    }We are supposed to use each rectangle constructor once, then use a series of print statements to check each method/constructor in the Rectangle class. I will add findArea to the main class later.
    So... my problem is that the second rectangle object's "color" property is messing with the first rectangle's color as well, when I run the program, rectangle A ends up with a color of "Azul" instead of "White."
    Any ideas?

    Ok, after reading the link, static is a class variable, meaning that it encompasses the whole class, and any alteration to it sticks. Any reference to it after that will return the new value, as it is supposed to. So, how can I temporarily change the color without reassigning it to the whole class? The instructor intentionally made it static, so I think he meant for us to try to work around that.
    Looking back at my code, I am, indeed, changing the variable itself, rather than a property of the current object. it seems to me the problem lies within this bit of code.
    public static void setColor(String color)
              Rectangle.color = color;

  • Menu item stroke problems

    I am unable to add a right aligned stroke on the word 'Snowdon Super Cup' because the border cuts across the word 'Cup'. (the stroke appears where the word 'Cup' starts)
    How to I extend the border area in order for the menu item 'Snowdon Super Cup' to fit within the correct boundaries?

    Hello,
    Please confirm are you using Manual menu here?
    If yes, please select the label "Snowdon Super Cup" by clicking on it twice and stretch the text box.
    You can also clock on the tiny white arrow in blue circle at the top right corner, and in widget properties, change the "Item size" drop down to uniform size or uniform spacing.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Sachin

  • Outline Stroke Problem

    I am trying to outline the stroke of a custom brush line. When I go to Object>Path>Outline Stroke instead of keeping the same appearance and simply outlining the stroke into a filled shape, the stroke transforms to a very thin hairline.
    Any ideas?

    Use Object>Expand Appearance instead of Outline Stroke.

  • Outline Stroke error

    Working in CS4 Snow Leopard on an image with a TON of paths. Unable to outline strokes. Receive the following error message: "The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error [%s] Error: 0SEG"
    Able to outline strokes on individual paths and small sets of paths, but not larger sets of paths.
    Any ideas???
    Or... I have a document in all black (with large areas of white fills). I'd like to send only the blacks to Photoshop with the white fills treated as transparency. I'm trying to subtract the whites with Pathfinder, but I can't get my strokes outlined. I've tried printing a color separation but I'm not able to print to - or save - PDF as a document.

    I used to use Illustrator every day. I still consider it a favorite program, but I use it sparingly at best. I spent a few gripping hours on the Outline Stroke problem. Once my specific challenge was resolved in CS on Windows XP, though, I moved on. I encountered the same problem a few weeks and a few re-starts later and, again, moved the file to CS in XP. If I didn't have the old version I figure I'd be S.O.L. and in fits of sobbing anger.
    Within six months of purchasing CS4, I've reset all of the preferences and moved folders, etc. to address a handful of problems - all to no avail. I suppose I should join the chorus of others on these boards lamenting the quality of CS4 on Snow Leopard. I suppose I should also feel lucky that Illustrator works crappy, because Fireworks won't open at all. Then I should probably feel inadequate among peers, suck it up, and buy a copy of CS5?
    Lame answer, I know. Sorry to have more whining and less good info.

  • Problems with Actions in Illustrator CS6

    Actions in CS6 have a lot of bugs. Can not get an action to not have a stroke on it, can not get the "add layer below" to stay in an action.

  • Why are not all strokes scaled, not all objects scaled ?

    I have made a drawing. Then I want to scale it. I select to scale the strokes.
    But:
    - not all strokes are scaled: some are scaled, some are not scaled
    - several objects (that were cloned all from one object) are scaled differently and get different shapes.
    What's the cause? What am I doing wrong?
    Here you can see two screenshots: one before scaling, one after scaling to 45% and zooming in a bit.

    Hi Jacob,
    thank you very much to reply!
    Your tip solved the problem.
    I had thought that it could be something like this but didn't fint the place where the option could be (de)selected.
    It's a strange thing that also the stroke-problem is solved: can't realy explain...
    Illustrator may be the best-in-class, but you cannot imagine how much time I have already lost with this kind of 'problems'.
    Nevertheless, thanks again for helping me!
