Rectanqular marquee tool bug (opengl)

I performed photoshop reset few days ago due some color problems and now Photoshops basic selection tool: Rectanqular marquee tool has some visibility bug. Left and top sides of the selection does not go outside of the selected pixels, it's kind of half way (half pixel) on top and left pixels. Right and bottom goes normally outside of the pixels.
Really irritating because it's very hard to see is it inside or outside of selection.
Already tried tool reset, photoshop re-install, settings removal, total CS4 removal and re-install and now luck, so it must be system related ? I'm quite sure it worked earlier and does work my work computer.
See attached picture, the pink line is 1pixel and selections does not touch it
Update: Works when OpenGL drawing is disabled on performance settings, but this is not a fix :/

I changed the settings so it is better now, but still have the freezing problem with the resizing and the brush tool. Some one suggested the problem is the graphic   card so i will send my computer back as i haven't got problem on my macbook just on the imac.  good luck to you as well  and if you find something let me know.

  • Global Chord Track and Marquee Tool

    Hi there,
I wanted to select some Chords on the global chord track, but the marquee tool doesn't seem to work here. When i click & drag (with the marquee tool, of course!), no marquee will draw, but the first chord that i touch is selected and pulled away from it's position.
I consider this a bug, but maybe it's a feature - can somebody help me?

  • Marquee Tool Shifting Tracks after reopening

I was cleaning up my tracks by using the marquee tool to select and then deleted parts of regions (mostly comps). Everything was fine until I reopen the session today and everything inside the comp has shifted over except the first take. Seems like a pretty bad bug, which I am able to reproduce on other sessions as well, anyone else experiencing this?

    Hey, -b,
This problem most likely has the same solution as your other region wandering problem. You need to set your region anchors to a specific place in the timeline. You should do this after you do all your comping, editing or what have you. Align the anchor to the most logical place, and be sure to audition for timing, etc. More info on this can be found at <www.macprovideo.com> where there are free demo tutorials. Just look for Logic 8 101 in the free tutorials section.

  • Why does my screen keep flashing and then turn black when I use the marquee tool?

When I bring up a photo to work on and i try to draw circle or square with the Marquee tool my screen flashes black and then stays black until I use the move tool?

This issue is associated with your graphics driver not being compatible with PS' hardware acceleration. Updating the driver if possible would be advisable, otherwise turn off OpenGL drawing under Preferences --> Performance.

  • Another Spectral View Tool Bug

If I change the Tool type in Spectral Frequency Display the on screen mouse pointer changes to reflect the new tool type but the operation doesn't actually change until I have clicked on the screen once with the new tool.
Example: Have been using the Marquee tool to select an area, say, between 1K and 5K and processed an effect on that area. If I then change to the Time Selection tool the mouse pointer changes to the "I" bar. If I then double click in the marker area to select a Range it selects that region correctly by time but only the 1K to 5K frequency range. I have to click in the audio display area to make the Time Selection tool work correctly before I can select the Range in the Marker bar. In AA 1.5 this worked OK without the extra clicking.
Also with AA 1.5 if you had an area selected with the Marquee tool and then changed to the Time Selection tool the selected area would instantly reflect that change by keeping the same time selection but making it full bandwidth. In AA 3 I have to click away from the original selection to make the Time Selection tool active and then try to reselect the same time range again with the mouse.
Sorry this is so long but trying to give all the facts about these annoying bugs takes a lot of explanation.

    Hello Ryclark.
I can confirm that the behaviour of both versions of the program under the given circumstances are as you describe.
I've had an extremely brief play around with some options in the Preferences box, and I've been unable to alter the selection behaviour.
    Regards,
    Steve.

  • Marquee Tool 1 Pixel Off

    Good Evening
I recently downloaded the Adobe PS CS5 trial, very happy so far.
However this evening I have had an issue with the marquee tool being 1 pixel off, making selections very hard...
    I have a Nvidia 8600 GT, 4GB of RAM, Windows 7 64 bit
I have googled and researched solutions, seems the most reccomended method is to disable OpenGL however this seemed specific to ATI cards
I have tried this anyway, both on and off and it makes no difference unfortunately
I have updated CS5 and my GFX drivers and still no difference
Is there any other reccomendations please?
    Thanks

Some say it's a nVidia driver glitch.  I have reproduced it on one of my nVidia-equipped systems, and it's not the same with an ATI card, though arguably it's off on the ATI system too, just in a different way.
Try temporarily disabling OpenGL Drawing (Edit - Preferences - Performance) and see if the problem persists.
You lose a few things without OpenGL.  This page describes more:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/404/kb404898.html
Installing the latest nVidia driver from their web site might help.

  • Rectangular Marquee Tool no longer moves

Hi, I have CS2 on Windows XP. For some reason (probably operator error) I can no longer move the Rectangular Marquee Tool in a fixed size mode arond my picture. When I expand it to, for example, 8.5" x 11" it just sits there. I used to be able to expand it, then move it about the photo until I got it where I wanted to do the crop.Does anyone have any ideas what has happened? Also I notice that the crosshairs now have a little bar in the lower right quadrant when I roll my cursor on the photo. Not sure if that is significant. Thanks.

This button enabled? See the screenshot.

  • Rectangular Marquee Tool (Short cut M)...

I have upgraded to CS5. I cannot access to the Rectangular Marquee Tool with a short cut (M) any longer. M brings up the Eliptical Marquee Tool. Where is the Rectangular Marquee Tool? How can I access?
    Thnx

Check the units you specified for the fixed size. My guess is that it's set to something larger than your image.
Yes, thanks - I was just about to post a response to my own question. They were cm, rather than pixels!

  • Rectangular Marquee Tool screen artifacts

Hi - I have a problem with Photoshop CS3 (version 10.0) on a Windows XP Professional computer. When I try to use the rectangular marquee tool to select an area of any image the selection marker leaves dotted artifacts across the parts of the images over which the selection marker has passed.
I don't get the problem if I use any of the marquee tools and the artifacts are not actually written to the image. It's not runining the image but it is causing some problems when trying to be precise with my selections.
Has anyone seen this problem before? I can provide screen shots if that would be of any help.
    Many thanks in advance,
    Mitch

  • Rectangular Marquee Tool is a solid line

The Rectangular Marquee Tool in CS4 has started using a solid line instead of the usual dotted line. Is there some setting to revert to the dotted line somewhere, or has my software just gone haywire? Feather is 0px and Style is Normal.

  • Rectangular Marquee tool broken in CS5.1?

The rectangular marquee tool no longer seems to work when choosing the "Fixed size" option. It seems to just select the entire image area regardless of what values are entered.
This is with version CS5.1 as provided in Creative Suite Design Premium CS5.5.
I've had no problems with this tool in other versions. Can anyone else confirm this behaviour?
    I'm running OSX 10.6.7

  • Rectangular marquee tool problem

i used 'rectangular marquee tool to select an area . then i right clicked and select "stroke"  . but i am not satisfied with the result , because its corner was slightly jagged ( when i zoom it ) . feather was set to 0 . can anyone help me plz how to fix this ?

May I suggest stroking on the Inside of your Marquee.
Or switching to using the Rectangle Tool.  The options for stroking a shape offer a great deal of configurability...

  • Use the "Rectangular Marquee Tool" with my mouse

    Hey.
When I use the "Rectangular Marquee Tool" with my mouse, it is often difficult to do it accurately.
Is there an easier way to do it than with the mouse, -  can I manually enter the size of my selection ..
    Any advice is welcome.

  • Rectangule Marquee Tool Does Not Copy (Elliptical Marquee Tool Does)

I am unable to copy and paste using the rectangular marquee tool. When I click and try to draw the dashed outlines, I just get X and Y coordinates. When I switch to the ellipitcal marquee tool, I get the dashed lines and can
copy with no problem. I had been able to use the rectangular marquee tool before. Not sure what happened to prevent it now. Any suggestions? Thanks!

First thing to try is a tool reset:

  • Issues with Rectangular Marquee Tool [was: I have a question]

The problem is with the 'rectangular marquee tool'  ... after I select a box, the tool defaults to a marquee that eliminates a portion of the first selected box.  The curser changes to show the '+' curser with an 'x' in the lower right of the cursor ... how do I get rid of this?

It sounds like you have Intersect with selection enabled in the tool options bar instead of the default of New selection.
Though it sounds like you want to add to the prevous selection?
I usually just leave the default of New selection and use the following keyboard shortcuts instead of clicking on different options in the tool options bar.
