Recurring prompts to download Adobe Flash--help!!
About every two minutes, I get an irritating prompt to reinstall Adobe Flash. I'm running IE 32 bit on a Windows 7 machine...64 bits. I also run Mozilla Firefox
and have Comcast as a service provider at 12mB speed. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of this endless problem? Thank you very much!
Hi, The thread by rocsolid9 was about this issue also, if you want to review it. I think it is listed above yours.
Check with IE, Tool, Manage add ons and make sure the Shockwave Flash Object is Installed and Enabled. Then using FF(Firefox), check the plugins for the Shockwave Flash (SWF) for the same.
You can also go to this test site and test with each browser. You should see an animation and the version of the Flash Player you have Installed will be displayed.

Why do I keep getting a prompt to download Adobe Flash Player when I already have the latest version? I get it when I click on a video suach as a movie trailer. I have Internet Explorer11 and Windows 7.
This is a known problem with Internet Exploder 11, which Microsoft has been aware of since October 18 when they released their latest "untested" browser. The pages can't recognize the browser, so they don't recognize any of the plugins, like Flash Player. So far, Microsoft has made NO indication that they have any plan to fix it soon.
Microsoft's recommendation is to use Compatibility View for affected pages, and "pretend" you're using an different browser. Trouble with that is it has seen limited success at best, and you have to individually enable it for EVERY page that has problems.
I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.
Firefox (from Mozilla)
Opera (from Opera)
Safari (from Apple)
Chrome (from Google)
ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in. -
I have a mac book pro and have already downloaded adobe flash player. However when i go to watch a video it says "Blocked Plug In". But my adobe is already up to date. Can someone help me to fix this so i can watch videos?
If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 7. Back up all data before making any changes.
Step 1
You might have to log out or reboot before a Flash update takes effect.
Step 2
In the Safari preference window, select
Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
Close the window. Then select
▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.
Step 3
If you're only having trouble with YouTube videos, log in to YouTube and load this page. You may see a link with the text "Leave the HTML5 Trial." If so, click that link.
Step 4
If you get a warning of a "blocked" or "outdated" plug-in, then from the menu bar select
▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Check Now. Quit and relaunch the browser.
If the warning persists, triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
/System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Resources
Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open. Inside it, there should be a file named "XProtect.meta.plist". If that file is missing and you know why it's missing, restore it from a backup or copy it from another Mac running the same version of OS X. Otherwise, reinstall OS X.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
Step 5
Open this folder as in Step 4:
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Delete the following item, or anything with a similar name, if present:
Flash Player (failing).plugin
You may be prompted for your login password.
Step 6
Re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from the domain "get.adobe.com". Don't click a link from any other website, including this one, because you can't trust links. They may be an attempt to trick you into installing malware masquerading as Flash. Type the address into the browser window. Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
Step 7
If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked
Allow (or Enable) plug-ins
Then click the button marked
Manage Website Settings...
if present and make sure that the website is not blocked for Flash.
Step 8
Select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them. -

and check to see if your Flash Player is up to date.

Everytime I try to download Adobe Flash Player I am told to disconnect Internet Explore; I've gone through the routine of Internet Options to allow a download but I still encounter the disconnect message. Please help, what am I doing wrong as I downloaded Adobe Reader with no problems and in my computer I am shown in programs that Adobe Flash Playerand Adobe Readere were downloaded today but if I access a program requirieng Flash Player I am told that I need to download Adobe Flash Player to what is up.

I can't watch YouTube videos on my brand new MacBook Pro with Lion. It says I need to download Adobe Flash Player but that won't install. Help!
The same thing happens to me, Safari asks me to update the Adobe FlasPlayer, I download, start the installation process, ask me my username and password in order to install, then see a window where I choose if I want to always install the updates , or ask first, or not inslate updates, and at this point it is not progress, I can not cancel the process, I turn off and turn on my machine.
What can I do ..??

You are prompted for a password before installing Flash? If so, this is your Mac's admin password, which doesn't have anything to do with your Apple ID unless you chose to use the same password for your computer admin login account as is used for your Apple ID.

After updating my system to Mountain Lion 10.8.2 I can no longer view videos on Facebook or other sites. The only one I can view videos on is youtube. I have downloaded Adobe Flash player and still no luck. I cannot even open Preview on my computer anymore. Any ideas would be helpful thanks
Merely clicking the Preview icon in the Dock doesn't cause it to open anything, unless you had one or more windows open the last time it quit.
