Recycling Bin - files after save

Every time I save a file, I get a file with the same name and path but without an extension in the recyceling bin. What is this about?

It's likely the recovery file used by the recycle bin. It is not normally visible unless you have hidden files and folders enabled.

  • How do I stop Photoshop CS6 from asking to save changes to a file when closing the file, after "savi

    I save a lot of files to "save for web". After saving PS asks if I want to save changes to the original file. I never want to save the changes to the original. Since the default is to change the file I am afraid I will accidentally OK the change without wanting to. I would like it to stop asking and just not save it. Is there a way?

    Then don't work on the original open the file using Photoshop menu file>open once its in Photoshop as a document dupe the document and close the original document. Photoshop will just close the original and not ask it you want to save the original document for no changes were made to it.  You could easily record an action to automate this process. The first step in the action would be an inserted menu item menu File>Open.  The second step Duplicate Document, third step select previous document the fourth and final step close. The action would look like this recorded Work in the dupe and save it under the name you want to where you want it saved. The First step is an interactive you will be able to open any file Photoshop has support for that you have access to.

  • Option to remove "Sent to Recycle Bin" message after delete

    I've found the "sent to recycle bin" message sticks smack in the middle of the screen during review which obstructs further pictures. I delete one picture and the message hangs on obstructing further review for the next 5-6 pictures (maybe more, depending on how quickly I'm going). It's very time consuming to wait for this message to disappear when I'm trying to filter through 700+ pictures from shooting sports. Would also be nice to be able to toggle this off/on or please have the ability in the preferences to relocate the message to one of the screen corners.

    iTunes will ask only if the tracks being deleted are in the *iTunes media folder location* shown in iTunes prefs Advanced and the *Keep iTunes music folder organized* is ticked.

  • XML file reverts to original file after save - Why?

    Hi guys,
    I'm working with a little bit of XML and have questions, first here are my steps:
    1) Load XML
    2) Append to XML
    3) Save XML using PHP
    pretty simple, right?
    Well, why when I load the same XML file does it read the file without the appendend nodes I just added?
    I can open the XML file in Dreamweaver and see the appended nodes, but once I load the XML back into the .SWF, it clears the appended nodes and only reads the original nodes again..... simplified version like this:
    Original file:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <people>
         <person>
              <name>Steve</name>
         </person>
    </people>
    Saved file, readable in Dreamweaver:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><people>     <person>          <name>Steve</name>     </person>     <person>          <name>Mary</name>     </person></people>
    When .swf file is closed and reOpened to save another person it opens:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><people>     <person>          <name>Steve</name>     </person></people>
    My .swf is local at this point and PHP and XML files are on a server running PHP5.
    Apparently the PHP script is correct because it DOES save the file correctly. I can save as many <persons /> as I want. But when I close the Flash .swf the URLLoader reads the original XML data again. Not sure how that's possible?
    When I change the location of the XML to load into the URLLoader it changes so I know it's reading the same file I saved to.... I'm so confused.
    Hope this is enough detail for someone to help me,
    Thanks,
    Sky

  • CS3 cannot open original TIF file after "save as" Photoshop PDF

    Mac OS X 10.4.11, Photoshop CS3 (10.0.1), 2.5 GB RAM, and the files are saved to the afp file server (Windows Server 2000 SP4 running Services For Macintosh). When saving a TIF file as a PDF the original TIF file cannot be opened again.
    Once Photoshop starts doing this I have to restart the system before the corruption problem goes away. The problem with that is if I do not catch it, I might convert 20 or so files in a day before I catch the problem. Once the TIF files are corrupt, the only thing I can do is restore from backup (long process) or save as again from the PDF file to TIF to place in my InDesign file. When I open the original TIF file I get an error: "Could not complete your request because the file-format module cannot parse the file." OR "Could not complete your request because of a problem parsing a TIFF file."
    Has anyone else had this problem?

    Justin,
    >and the files are saved to the afp file server
    If you are saving directly to the server, that can be trouble, particularly if IT is clueless or not vigilant about network issues and maintenance. Adobe specifically warns against working across your network. Please see the FAQ and numerous topics on this "problem".
    Basically, drag-copy the file to your local drive. Work locally. Save locally. Drag-copy the completed file back to the server.
    Let us know if working as I've just described "solves" the problem.

  • How to maintain format of ".rtf" file after save?

    Hello and thank you for taking your time. I have been facing some problems with my project for a while regarding the
    LoadFile  method . I have a project in Which I can can select several things and show them in a different
    RichTextBox. Now, through the press of a button I can Save the contents of that of That
    RichTextBox (The contents are formatted as in they have Bolded Text) in a
    Rich Text File (.rtf) . I implemented the method of saving through creating a function called "WriteInFile" which writes the Boxes` contents in a ".rtf" file.  This is The code :
    public void writeInFile(String name)
    name = "Your Program";
    name = String.Concat(name, ".rtf");
    file = name;
    TextWriter tw = new StreamWriter(@name);
    tw.WriteLine(textBox1.Text);
    foreach (var line in richTextBox1.Lines)
    tw.WriteLine(line);
    tw.Close();
    Then I load "Your Program.rtf " through  the press of a different button, in the
    same RichTextBox using the following code :
    private void button4_Click_1(object sender, EventArgs e)
    richTextBox1.LoadFile("Your Program.rtf", RichTextBoxStreamType.PlainText);
    My problem is that when I load the file I want it tokeep its format,with bold etc. If I use the same code but insert ".RichText" It says that the format is invalid
    (throws an exception) using ".PlainText" is fine ,also using a ".txt" format is fine it is just that
    the format is not kept . I really do not know how to solve this...
    Thank you for your time!

    Try a different way:
    // save:
    richTextBox1.SaveFile(name, RichTextBoxStreamType.RichText);
    // load:
    richTextBox1.LoadFile(name, RichTextBoxStreamType.RichText);

  • MDT Refresh doesn't clean recycle bin

    Hello,
    Has anyone dealt with the fact that the, "Clean Disk" performed by LTIApply.wsf marks the Recycler folder as a protected folder and doesn't clear it out? Essentially leaving the contents of the user's recycle bin beyond after reimage?
    Is there any reason why recycler needs to stay a protected folder? Are there any issues with removing it?

    Not sure about removing the folder.
    However, if you are concerned, you can always run a disk cleanup as a step in the task sequence:

  • ITunes will not delete file (after confirming & sending to recycle bin)

    Files deleted within iTunes do not disappear from my hard drive.
    I answer "Are you sure you want to remove the selected podcast from your iTunes library" and select the "Remove" button.
    I then answer "Do you want to move the selected podcasts to the Recycle Bin, or keep them in the iTunes Music folder?" with "Move to Recycle Bin".
    Music files (mp3) occasionally delete properly but video podcasts (Geek Brief to be specific) will not delete.
    Music is stored in J:\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music which is slightly non-standard but seems to fit the rule of being "inside" the iTunes folder.
    Any ideas? [I've seen similar but not quite the same posts where people are trying to delete files outside the iTunes folders......]

    I too have this same problem with deleting video podcasts. The problem doesn't happen all the time, but probably a majority of the time. It is quite annoying as many of the video podcasts I subscribe to are in HD format so it is rather frustrating to have to manually delete them from the iTunes folder after deleting them thru iTunes, but since they take up gigs of space it is necessary to go in and clean them out every once in a while.

  • ITunes podcast file not going to recycle bin after deleted?

    After I deleted podcast files from iTunes on my PC running windows XP, sometimes they didn't go to recycle bin but instead stayed in my podcast folder.

    I don't think you're doing anything wrong!
    I had just deleted to Recycle Bin a whole bunch of podcast this morning, and after I read your post, I checked my PC.
    It deleted about 30 and left 3.

  • Disconnected  files are in Recycle Bin PSE 7 - Vista 64

    I am getting disconnected files and am wondering what I'm doing wrong. These are files I only access through PSE7, never Windows Explorer. I'm not changing their location or names. What I think may be happening is after I edit a photo, I have been unstacking them and deleting the original -- and also deleting it from my hard drive. I only want to keep the edited version. I just need someone to confirm that's what's happening. I used an old version previously that gave me the option of "replace original with edited". PSE7 doesn't do that, I think. But I don't need two versions out there on my hard drive, only the edited. How do I get rid of the original safely? These disconnected files appear to be in my recycle bin and I can figure out how to get them back, just want to know what I'm doing wrong. "Watched folders" is confusing to me, as it only pops up when I go off to another catalog (I have many), so I don't want those photos from another catalog brought in there. Also, can someone tell me if there is a maximum number of pictures allowed in a catalog? Thank you!

    Mary,
    When PSE 7 modifies the metadata (captions, notes, dates/times, etc.) of a file, it often places a copy of the original in the Recycle Bin:
    http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/photoshopelements-6-7-faq.htm#_Photos_appear_in
    This is normal, and you can feel free to empty the Recycle Bin at any time.
    Your procedure for getting rid of the original version of an edited photo is fine: Save the edited photo in a version set, then delete the original from within PSE. Nothing untoward should happen.
    > I am getting disconnected files and am wondering what I'm doing wrong. These are files I only access through PSE7, never Windows Explorer.
    Do the Organizers thumbnails of these files have a yellow question mark in their corner? And does File > Reconnect > All Missing bring up a list of these files? (I want to verify that they are indeed disconnected.)
    > Now when I'm in my "recipes" catalog, it shows a picture from my "grandma's old photos" catalog, with the recipe caption that I orignally assigned in the "recipes" catalog. I can understand that the caption may stay with the catalog, but can't figure why there are three different photos with the same file name. I'm afraid to scan any more until I get an answer. I scan a lot of pictures and am going through all my family's historical pictures. These are all going into a "scanned photos" folder and the file name is assigned by either PSE or the scanner.
    What is the precise workflow you are using to scan? It appears you are doing File > Get Photos And Videos > From Scanner?
    > I scan a lot of pictures and am going through all my family's historical pictures. These are all going into a "scanned photos" folder and the file name is assigned by either PSE or the scanner. Is there a way to tell PSE that I want subfolders separated by date? I have Epson V500 Scanner, if that helps.
    The File > Get Photos And Videos > From Scanner command places all scanned images into the Pictures\Adobe\Scanned Photos folder. But it assigns a unique name to each file and it wont overwrite an existing file. (I just used the command to scan a photo, and PSE gave it the name Scanned Photos\Image1.jpg; I then scanned a photo into a second catalog, and PSE gave it the name Scanned Photos\Image1-1.jpg. ) You can change the folder it uses for scanned images via Edit > Preferences > Scanner. Using a different folder for each catalog may help you organizationally, but it shouldnt have any effect on the problems youre encountering.
    For one of the photos that has the same name in two different catalogs, what does the Properties pane show as the full folder location and name in each of the two catalogs?

  • File icon stuck behind recycle bin

    Somehow a photo file got "stuck" BEHIND the recycle bin icon in my toolbar. No matter what I do, I can't seem to click and drag the file out from behind the recycle bin icon to then throw it INTO the recycle bin. Any ideas on how to fix this? It's been just sitting behind it for months now and I am too dumb to figure out how to deal with it (former PC user and soon to be exclusively PC user)

    Hi morrisgal and welcome to Apple Discussions.
    Either go to the Apple menu>Dock>Turn Hiding On or just hit the cmdaltD keys. Once the Dock is out of the way drag your file further onto the desktop, hit cmdaltD again and you Dock will reappear.
    Another way would be to open a Finder window, navigate to Desktop within Finder, identify the file and drag it to the Trash from there or ctrl click>Move to Trash.
    Don't be too hasty in becoming an exclusive PC user, I ditched PCs many years ago after staying up all night trying to disinfect my PC laptop from a virus, and yes, I did have AV software. It got infected before a fix had been released.
    I've never regretted the move and leaving aside the virus issue I much prefer the Mac interface as well as the hardware. 'Here' is a wonderful community of fellow Mac users most of whom will go out of their way to help, just for the satisfaction.
    Whatever you decide, good luck!

  • Downloaded podcast files not moved to recycle bin when deleted.

    I have iTunes running on two computers (home and work) both running Windows XP SP2. On my work computer, of which I am an administrator, when I right click on a downloaded podcast and select "Clear", I get a prompt asking me about moving the file to the recycle bin or keeping the files. Every time I see this, I select "Move to recycle bin" but nothing happens. There's a slight pause, like iTunes is trying to move the file, but the files are never moved. The entry in my podcast list is removed but if I go to the iTunes Music \ podcast folder, there they are.
    This does not happen on my computer at home. The files are actually deteled on that computer. What am I doing wrong???

  • Use the Recycle Bin during Save Operations

    The other night I was working on a big image.  I had been saving it to my master .psd file, and right before I quit my Photoshop session I downsized the image and did a Save - As .jpg so I would have a draft copy.
    When I exited Photoshop it dutifully prompted me "The document has changed, do you want to save?" and I absent-mindedly clicked [ Yes ].  Oops!
    By virtue of the fact that I had saved the master file in several different folders, I did not lose all my work, even though my latest master file was overwritten with a small image.
    I believe that when Photoshop saves a file it actually writes a new file with a temporary name, then deletes the old file and renames the newly written file to the name of the old.  So I thought to myself, perhaps Photoshop used the Recycle Bin, and I can undelete the previous version...  But it wasn't there.
    If the deletion I mention above is actually happening...
    It would be great if Photoshop would to send files that are deleted during Save operations to the Windows Recyle Bin.  Then prior files could be available via undelete.
    I've also submitted this via the wish form.
    Thank you.
    -Noel

    Thank you, c., for the suggestion and offer to help.  I'm quite aware of making duplicate images, etc., to avoid what I boneheadedly did.  I actually have an action that does the job, though I've kind of stopped using it now that Photoshop can now Save-As a Copy directly to an 8 bit JPEG from a 16 bit document.  Perhaps I should resurrect it.  I rarely make this kind of mistake, but it was late and I was tired.  My practice of changing folders for my final sprint to the finish line saved me in this case, as I had only done one or two small things that needed redoing.
    But it would have been nice to find the previous version of the file all nestled and waiting for me in the Recycle Bin.

  • Files Uploaded using Mapped Drive (UNC) to SharePoint Document library Putting a copy in Recycle Bin , odd SharePoint Behaviour

    Hello All,
    One of my client reported a strange behaviour.
    Client mapped SharePoint document library to local share(UNC, NetWork Map Drive). Opened MS Word on local machine ,saved it to the share on his local machine. The document is saved successfully to SharePoint document library. But at the same time he can
    see a file with same name in Recycle bin and the size of the document in Recycle bin is <1k.
    Does any one know whether it is expected behaviour, why SharePoint putting this 1k file in Recycle bin?
    I tried the same thing on my Dev Environment for both SharePoint 2010 and 2013, in both environments the behaviour is same as my client experience.
    I have seen in forums some other people also experiencing this odd behaviour, but no one knows why.
    any info on this much appreciated.
    Regards,
    Andrew

    Hi Andrew,
    i tried in my environment for 2010 and 2013. The issue doesn't occur.
    Here is what i did.
    1, Create a new mapped drive(\\servername\DavWWWRoot\Shared Documents) for document library
    2, New a Word doc and input some string, save in the mapped drive.
    3, The doc exists in the document library, but no file in Recycle Bin.
    Did i miss something?
