Red Artifacting on Yellow Screen Content

I have been having this issue since Mac OS X 10.5.7, and it is still happening in Snow Leopard as well.
Whenever I scroll a page in Firefox/Safari or play a video in Quicktime/VLC/Hulu Desktop that has yellow content (any shade or tint) I notice red artifacting in those areas.
A friend of mine suggested it could possibly be a video driver issue, but he wasn't sure, and I have not found anybody else who is having this problem online or offline.
I also thought at one point that it had something to do with viewing my MacBook on an external monitor (24" ViewSonic) but it happens on the external monitor and the MacBook's display as well.
Any ideas or suggestions to get rid of this behavior?

Actually, it is a hardware problem, but not the kind you'd expect.
Although I thought I'd seen the issue on the MacBook's screen itself, it really only exists on the external monitor.
Apparently, my external monitor, the Viewsonic VX2433wm, causes or allows for video issues when using it with the MacBook. Specifically, when changing the response time in the monitor's OSD options to "Ultra Fast" (2ms).
An incompatibility between the MacBook's video hardware and a monitor using this fast of a response time causes the video issues I have been experiencing.
I reduced the response time to "Advanced" (3ms, I believe) and all the video issues have since disappeared.
I don't know what caused the issues in the first place, but I'm glad I'm rid of them. Hopefully, this thread will help anybody else using this monitor and having this problem...

That's just the way it is in full screen mode. You need to come out of FS to see the dots again.

Screen goes red orange and yellow

what the heck is up with this thing! ok so about 4 months ago i started having a problem with the screen on my laptop. all of a sudden it would go red green and yellow and loose its resolution causing severe overlap on the sides. i called apple and the there was nothing it could do from the phone.
I did the hardware test and nothing. so im at a loss here does anyone have an idea of what it could be. the guy on the phone was talking about some wire perhaps being pinched or so?!

I would suggest that when this tint happens you log out and then if it is still like that then its a hardware problem. well at least thats what the guy on the phone told me to do. and of course once its a harware problem there is pretty much nothing you can do but take it to a store.

Start up and stuck with the flashing color (red green blue yellow...)

I just bought Macbook pro(My first time with Mac product) today, and when i unbox the MBP it was have a good start everything is ok, than I test the DVD drive to make sure it work or not, than i put the VCD to it. it was stuck (with the flashing color). than i dont'know what to do. I press the shutdown button around 10s the pc is shutdown...I open it again and eject the VCD, than I was stuck with flashing color (red green blue yellow...) i have try to restart many time buy pressing the button but still the same. than i keep it away for about 1hour than I open it again It was WORKING AGAIN the same as I first started, than I restart, but the same problem happen again (flashing color (red green blue yellow...).
1. I have tried to boot from DVD that come with the MBP holding C but nothing happen
2. I have tried to reset PRAM (Command-Option-P-R) not work
So what wrong with that?
Could anyone help me to fix this out?

Yellow screen 2012 macbook pro

I purchased 2012 macbook pro 13 inch I5, I decided to upgrade to I7. I7 Screen looks yellow compared to i5. i5 screen was perfect. This one you can tell the yellow espacially with white back grounds. Will this go away?

I called AppleCare and they did some test over the phone. That didn't help. I went back to apple store, they made a side by side comparison to the display the have there, and yes mine was more of a dull ylow plow and theres was more white. They exchanged it, we tried it out and all looked fine.
I got home, went to Internet and I noticed towards the middle right of screen a red pixel. I googled and did some research, and it was a stuck pixel. Couple of tricks was to rub on screen, with a cloth. I did that a d I went away. Came back, I went back to the store, they ran some test and nothing. I came back home and it did it again. After all this, I called apple talked to a senior advisor, and they are sending me a new unit. They wanted me to send them a picture of this but red pixel never came back. What I did notice though if you put in a black background towards the bottom of screen there was bleeding yellow popping out. I send them a coupe of pix of that and they said it was t normal. So I will be getting my new Mack, this week hope all is good. Take it back, we pay too much money to have yellow screens.

You could try a reset and see if that fixes it : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
If it doesn't then you could try restoring to your last backup and/or resetting back to factory defaults. But if it's a hardware issue then you will need to contact Apple.

I have had this same problem for weeks now with my 4S. I just got a new 5S after being extremely frustrated and the same thing - no sounds. After searching posts all over, I couldn't find a solution. I just told my friend of the issue and he asked "Do you have the Do Not Distrub on?" I didn't even know such a function existed. Upon looking that was exactly the issue.
To resolve, go to Settings> Do Not Disturb> Manual. If it is green, turn it off. You will now get phone calls and text alerts.
This functionality is also on your quick access utility menu (slide up menu). I assume this is how it was enabled on my phone.
I will post on other sites since I searched for weeks for this solution and didn't see it anywhere. Good luck!

Too many Yellow screens, too many emails - how to unsubscribe?

I started following a yellow screen iPhone thread after getting my yellowscreen 4S direct from Apple - C39 serial
Replacement No. 1, at Apple Store Covent Garden, also yellow, did not actually swap, although they messed up the paperwork to show I did.
Replacement No. 2. at Apple Store Covent Garden, special order, 'store swap pack' took a week to arrive, also yellow C39 serial.
Replacement No. 3. via applecare by UPS, 'swap packaging' courier was supposed to wait and collect original, didn;t wait, but just as yellow.C39 serial
Replacement No. 4. again via Applecare - I think, by TNT, full retail pack, also yellow, Apple charged for a second phone DNP serial
Replacement No. 5. again via Applecare - I think, by TNT again, full retail pack again, yellow again, Apple didn't have any record of this one until I told them.
At this point Apple who had been previously utterly useless and unresponsive suddenly became very helpful, realising what a mess this all was. Wanted me to give them one last chance, would arrange collection of all 3 yellowscreen iPhone 4Ss, refunds for both phones, and an appointment at Apple store Covent Garden to allow me to see the screen before purchase.
In the event Apple store Covent Garden had no record of what my appointment was for.
It took just shy of an hour to open two iPhone 4Ss and find that both were yellow screen. Both serials began DNP, and all their stock was either DNP or C39, this time the "Genius and Genius Manager were both very helpful, Genius could see the issue at once, Genius Manager was actually colour blind, so could appreciate the issue but not see it for himself - apologetic they could not meet expectation of 'the most amazing iPhone yet' having at least as good a screen as the 4. Welcome to the post Jobs erea I suspect.

Each email that arrives tells me,"You are receiving this email from Apple Support Communities. You can change your email preferences in your Apple Support Communities Profile."
Well, I have, and set everything to 'off' but they just keep on arriving. Does anyone know how to stem the flow. I am very sorry for anyone suffering the insipid yellow screen of their 4S, but having decided to go back to my 3GS, I don't want to be updated five times a day..

IPod classic hard drive needle sometimes skips (Red X). When it doesn't and seems to power on normally, I start to restore it in Itunes and then it starts to skip again with the Red X on the screen.

One time I was able to run the disk utility in time and reformat the hard drive, but the red x ended up appearing again and the hard drive started skipping again.
Is there anything I can do besides get a new hard drive?
P.S. I have also tried the banging on palm/floor trick and it hasn't worked yet for me.

There nothing we can suggest to save a bad iPod hardisk, except to try some 3rd Party software to try repair the Hardisk.

Apple service centre employee told me that they do not have this 14 day offer in India.

If you want to use the Composite input on your TV there’s no Mini DisplayPort to Composite. The only adapters with Composite are the older Mini-DVI adapters. (Composite is the red, white and yellow RCA plugs on your TV or red, white and S-Video plugs.).

I have my screen contents too big and it does not all fit the screen. How do I change it to all fit in the screen?

Check in SystemPreferences>Universal Access and see if Zoom is on. If you have toddlers or cats this can accidentally turned on by hitting a group of keys that include Option + Command + 8.
To prevent this being accidentally activated in the future go to System Preferences>Keyboard>Keyboard Shortcuts>Universal Access and uncheck all the boxes.
