And yet many of us are very happy with our touchpads!  I have two of them, both dual-booting into either ICS or webOS.  I'm running programs that make iPad owners jealous.
Only problem I've had is a crack by the speaker... Sorry the two of you have become so jaded.

  • Ipod touch 5th generation battery screen with lightning bolt locked cannot charge or restart.  ive tried everything from new cables attempting to shut down but stays at screen for a few seconds then black screen again over and over

screen locked up and shows the battery with low red and ligtning bolt and cannot hard shut down or reset just stays there for a few seconds then black screen. hooked up to computer and itunes doesnt recognize it or even shows that it is pluged in.  looked and made sure nothing is broken or metal in ligting port or on cable which would prevent it from accepting a charge. ipod is only a month old and seems like a waste of money if its so hard to try to get an explanation of why this is ive been tryning to get an answer from apple for a week now.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • 8800, battery symbol with red line through it. Won't boot. Please help!!!

I recently bought a 8800 and when I inserted a battery, all I got was a battery symbol with a red line through it on a dim screen.  I changed batteries, tried to charge it via USB and from a wall outlet to no avail.  I tried cleaning the contacts and tried uploading t a new  OS, but it wont recognize the phone being connected when it actually is.    I am at the end of my rope with this phone and can't figure out what else to do.  Is it just gone? Please help me
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Leave the device to charge 2-3 hours, and then, still connected to the USB cable, remove the the battery from the device a few seconds and reinsert it. If it boots--leave it to charge to 100% (check Options > Status for the percentage).
If it doesn't boot--try using a wall outlet charger if you are not. If you are connected via USB to the PC, make certain that you have Desktop Manager (or the USB device drivers) installed, which you can download below.

  • Touchpad Dead - Battery symbol with Questionmark

Help!  my Touchpad 32gb will not boot!
I've let it charge for several days.  Pressing:
     Power button = nothing
Power + hold center button = Battery symbol with questionmark
Power + up vol. = nothing
(I've tried all these combinations with it plugged in and as a stand-alone with no power cord)
I've used several chargers, including multiple touchstones, and several OEM HP round wall chargers to  no avail.
I have two touchpads (1 for me , 1 for my child) and all chargers work with the other touchpad.
Any ideas on how to bring this back to life?
When it died, it had been sitting on a touchstone, but slightly off center such that I don't think it charged properly.
    Post relates to: Tungsten E2

A user reported recently he was instructed to hold the power switch and then press the center button quickly about 15 times in a row.  Might give this a try.

I have an Retina display MacBook Pro with HMDI out port. I also have an HDMI to Component cable with Audio Plugs. How can I get HDMI out to work with this cable when plugged into the MacBook Pro and connected to the TVs Component and Audio in ports.

Will not work.  To my knowledge, dual converting like that isn't supported.  The Mac must detect the connected video output device and that sort of info cannot be done across an analog component uni-directional connection.

Is there any thing to do to fix this?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    Remove the battery
    Wait 15 minutes
    Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain a known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem. Please note that "known good" and "new" are not necessarily the same thing...while rare, a new battery can be defective.
Good luck and let us know!

i had it on charge all night and have tryed 3 different chargers and 2 batterys and still nothing ?
    help ?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Given what you describe, I think you've done all of the diagnostics that you can...kudo's to you for having thought to try what you did! But, what it indicates is a hardware-level problem in the BB itself, somehow not communicating properly with the battery. For this, only a qualified service technician with the BB in their hands can diagnose any further...and that can't be done at an internet-distance.
If your BB is still under warranty, then take it in for evaluation. Your warranty service provider is whoever you bought the BB from -- your mobile network provider or your authorized reseller would be who you go talk to next.
If your BB is out of warranty, then you can talk to those same folks about other options.
    Good luck!

  • IPod Mini Battery Icon with Lightning--PLEASE HELP!!

When I turn off my iPod, the battery symbol shows up on the screen with the lightning bolt on the left of it--even though it's fully charged. When I leave like that for a period of time and come back to it--the screen is blank but the iPod won't turn on again until I plug it in and charge it again. I think that symbol showing up is running down the battery or something.
This all started when I plugged my iPod into a different computer and I guess it got "confused" and shut down and I couldn't get it to come back on. However, I plugged it into my car charger and reset and it seemed to work fine except the battery icon in the corner had that lightning bolt.
It works fine otherwise it just seems like I will have to have it constantly charging instead of letting it sleep?!
    Any advice?
