Red blinking light & phone is unresponsive (8100 Series)

I've had my Pearl for about 18 months and it's always been fairly reliable.
Yesterday it got wet for the first time (I suspect this may be the cause of the problem...).
Right away, I took out the battery and SIM card, dried the phone as best I could, and put the parts in a warm area.
Now all I'm seeing is a series of red blinking lights:
- blink, blink, blink (3 times, a half second pause, then)
- blink, blink (and a 2 second pause before it starts again)
I tried using a backup battery, and I tried it with and without the SIM card.
Does anyone know what this sequence of blinks means?
And, more importantly, how can I save my phone??

the three blinks, a pause, and two more.. don't know what the blink meant or why mine started.. I connect to computer via bluetooth and wasn't connected when it began. I came here for answers and very surprised bb doesn't have a tech rep providing help. & phone charged full the night before..
anyway, followed advice to disconnect from battery and reconnect in certain order while plugged into wall socket.. tried a few times with a few minutes of complete 'no power' each time. the light would sometimes flash when only the wall plug was in with no sim or battery. I gave up and left it connected to the wall socket with sim and battery in and flipped it over so I wouldn't get annoyed seeing the blink. left it for 30 minutes and it still was flashing. stuck it in my pocket went to a friend's house and checked when I got there 10 minutes later. still flashing. threw it half way across the room (carpet floor) and it booted up fine. is on now and I'm not touching it until tomorrow.
not suggesting anyone throw it, could break it, but it worked for me. likely in conjunction with topping up the battery. who knows. they're touchy.

I used blackberry software updater to update my phone then it had to restart and it almost did except the it came to 100% and the battery died to it shut down then when I turned it on it would came on but a red blinking light comes on every other second. The red blinking light means that you most likely have a corrupt software because your downloading was interupted by a drained battery. You may have to re-install the software with the Blackberry Link by connecting your phone to the computer

These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. FollowTroubleshooting security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, these errors may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
Also, check your hosts file to verify that it's not blocking iTunes from communicating with the update server. See iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > Mac OS X > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. If you have software used to perform unauthorized modifications to the iOS device, uninstall this software prior to editing the hosts file to prevent that software from automatically modifying the hosts file again on restart.

If neither of those fix it, then it's toast. it will have to be replaced.

Did you ever fix this? My daughters is the same. Treated with tender loving care, we reset to factory and it disappeared but was back again after 2 or 3 days. Still in warranty so going to take to the genius bar, however a bit concerned that because it belongs to an 11 year old they are going to assume she's damaged it.

Red Blinking Lights on Photosmart 7760

I have a Photomart 7760 that is now starting up from power on, blinks 10 times "green", and then continuous "red" blinking. If I remember correct from another post, it said something about printer head. So...question is what does this blinking sequence mean, and how to I correct it?

Help urgently needed! BB curve 8900 dead with red blinking lights on!!!

Hi to everyone! i just bought a BB Curve 8900 last month and now i'm facing aproblem. i am new to this forum and i was hoping you guys can help me out. i connected my BB to my pc with desktop manager to download some music when it prompted me to update my software. So i did, then at the end of the installation, i got fatal error and now all i got is a dead phone with red light blinking every 2 sec. can anyone help me pls?thank in advance and more power to this forum.

First locate your carrier and the OS file you wish to use.

Red Blinking Message Light Indicator Back to Green

On the BlackBerry Curve 8330, can anyone tell me please if it is normal once you receive any type of message, and the light on top blinks red, after about 15 minutes it goes back to blinking green even though I never checked my messages? You would think, especially with a BlackBerry that the light would continue to blink red until messages are checked?! Is there anything I can do to remedy this? Any programs out there third party or what not?...any free? Or is my phone defected? Thank you for your time and your input.

Yes the coverage indicator is on, I want it to blink green. Again, I want to know why the red blinking light message indicator goes back to blinking green after 15 minutes and does not continue to blink red until I actually go into the particular message folder? Thanks anyways for your help.

Blinking light

We got a new blackberry curve and the notification light is constantly blinking. we have switched off the notification on each every setting and it still blinks. We did a battery pull and it still blinks.
It is, obviously, draining the battery.
Are we missing a setting somewhere? TIA

That is your light letting you know you have service. your notification light is a red blinking light.
To turn the green light off, go to OPTIONS > SCREEN/KEYBOARD > then scroll down to LED COVERAGE INDICATOR and change it to OFF.

How can I fix this red blinking SYS LED light?

I am having problems with the extender losing signal and the GPS turns red and the SYS light is slow blinking red. I just spent 40 minutes on the phone with a Verizon tech who had me unplug it and just pretty much said "Sorry, there nothing we can do"!!!! This is happening several times a day for the past 2 weeks.

I am having the same problem with a blinking red sys light and red gps light. The system has been working fine for months and without my changing anything at all, it stopped working yesterday. I am using the correct power supply. I have powered off and on the gateway and the extender several times. My zip is 94306 (although Verizon shows my device as nearby Los Altos 94022 where I think the tower might be). I have AT&T Uverse as my ISP with a standard 2wire modem/router gateway 3800HGV-B. i unlocked a nokia 5230 from vodafone and now the red video light stays flashing and wont connect with my sim card and the screen keeps jumping

can't see how unlocking a phone would cause this.. are you sure it's not something else, like a running app ??

Blinking Red Power Light Need Help With Self Repair

I have a rear projection 57 inch TV, model number 57H84R and whenever I try and turn it on all I get is a blinking red power light. I've seen online where it might be a fuse in it but when I called customer support they told be it was a board. I don't have the manual anymore and i've read it is needed to try to repair it myself. When you moved in January, how long was the Mac not connected to AC power? You could have a weak PRAM memory battery. Have you tried zapping PRAM? See Mac PRAM, NVRAM, CUDA/PMU & Battery Tutorial

Although we work closely with manufacturers and OS developers, we don't produce the devices, operating systems or updates. I want to help you fix the email issue. What make and model device is this? What type of music are you referring to? What type of emails are these? Are there attachments in them?

HELP Needed ASAP! Curve Not Turning On, Red Flashing Lights!

Hi,
I have a Blackberry curve 8310. I plugged my curve into my mac to do a software update. Midway through, my phone shut off and hasn't worked since. The battery is fully charged. The phone is off and won't turn on. Additionally, there is a red LED light blinking twice every few seconds. I think I found an article on blackberry.com's knowledge database that diagnosed my issue, but my problem now is that because the curve isn't turning on/off, it's not connecting to my mac's desktop manager. So I can't do anything the article tells me to do. What should I do now? I need help ASAP!

Hello Asmro and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
It can take up to 30 minutes for the Mac to connect to the BlackBerry.
I would remove your battery and connect to the BlackBerry Desktop Manager. Once it comes up there is no software installed, re-insert the battery and follow the article KB19915.

I've visited East Delh(India) and Noida Sec 2 Service center but found there was no service center which address was mentioned there.I tried to update my software but failed into my attempt it's asking password everytime whenever I do a same. Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain directly connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB, not a cradle):With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall chargerLeave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display doesRemove the batteryWait 15 minutesInsert the batteryWait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display doesThis has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:Obtain an known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happensObtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happensThe results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem. Note carefully please that "new" and "know good" are not necessarily the same things. While rare, a "new" battery certainly could be defective. Rather, the simplest (and least costly, btw) method to conduct this test is to find someone with an identical BB who has no issues...trade batteries and see what happens.  If possible, you could also attempt to boot into Safe Mode:KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe ModeIt may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When/if successfully into Safe Mode, see what happens.
If the behavior ceases, then think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.
But if the behavior continues in Safe Mode, then you may need to consider more drastic actions -- WIPE, OS Reload, BBSAK Wipe/Reload, and the "Bare Bones" OS Reload Process. To prepare, you should be sure that you have a full backup to your PC...please review the Backup link in my auto-sig on this post for instructions.

Red LED Light Remains On

The battery is fully charged and disconnected from charger. When hibernating, the red LED light constantly remains on. When the phone is being used, the red LED light does not appear.
What is wrong? How can this be fixed? Thanks much for help.

I'm a total newbie to smartphones. Based on your question, I cleared all the Notifications and the red LED disappeared. Then sent myself an email to test the blue LED light and it is now blinking. So, the problem might be solved but don;t know why the red LED constantly displayed after charging the battering to 100%.
