Red Button....or lack of !!
I got fed up over the weekend, again, with the lack of the "red button" on the BT Vision box. I submitted a question to BT Customer service and stated that I had seen posts in here from 2012 saying "it was being worked on" and asked how much longer we had to wait.
I received a call from them to advise "it was still being worked on" but there was no indication how long this would take.
Even the most basic Freeview set top box has this facility, but the piece of junk BT Vision box does not.
When is BT management going to take notice of customer comments and actually do something about things like this instead of blowing their own trumpets and saying how good the service is ?
Have they not paid any attention to recent surveys which put their customer servic way down the league tables ?
Rant over.....for now !!!

Why not upgrade to the YouView box which is a far better bit of kit and has red button + according to the YouView forum, will also gain support for the new Connected Red Button service later this year.

I recently done an upgrade on my PC (can't remember what). since then I haven't been able to open or log in to my Yahoo bookmarks (red button on tool bar). I get a log in screen, but when I log in with my Yahoo ID and password, I get "This page expired" error message. I've gone the the help menu and reset my yahoo password, but it still won't let me log into yahoo bookmarks with Firefox. If i use Explorer, it works fine. I like Firefox, but I need to be able to access yahoo bookmarks.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]], choose History, and then Clear Recent History....
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.

Is there a way of quitting an app only by pressing on the red button?

I'm a new Mac user (my MacBook Air bought on April, 17th).
I was wondering, is there a way of quitting an app by pressing on the red button only, without pressing on the app name on the menu bar and and then on "Quit X"?
If it's possible, I will be glad to here the way.
Idanref.No. The red x closes the window but not the application. An exception is when an app can only have 1 window open. (Like system preferences). A quick way to close the app is to press CMD Q on the keyboard.

"Continue" was hidden at the bottom of the welcome screen because my display was changed. Some days I'm smarter than others. Or.... :-)

Nokia 5530 XM Touchscreen (red button) not working...
I bought my nokia 5530 for about 4 months and i had dropped it a couple of times..
But before that it did not experience any serious damage.
It was until recent i accidently dropped it AGAIN and i found out that the red button is not working anymore.
Is there any solution to fixed it??

Mega Sky 580 - RED Button Issue
Hi All,
Just got one of these cards, not bad but a lot of messing about with Aerials. Anyway I have installed the software with it, but was wondering what else I could use and also the remote you get with these things doesnt have the good old RED button to go into interactive mode. Does anyone have any ideas.

I have a nokia n95 8gb. And there is a problem with red button. I does not cancel active calls and does not close the applications after pressing it. What could be the problem and solution for that??
Upgrading / Re-installing the firmware and / or a Soft Reset MAY solve.. but most probably looks like hardware problem and you will have to show it at Nokia Care..
Pl. take a back-up before any of the above..

BLACK DOT INSTEAD OF X IN THE RED BUTTON TO CLOSE
I have a strange behaviour of an Excel file. In the red button to clese the window in the left upper corner there is a black point always visible instead of the usual x that appears only if you go there with the mouse.
This file frized last time I tried to close it but now it works OK even if there is this strange point.Thanks Charlie.
Even if I noted it yesterday I went back (Time Machine) and I could see the same bahaviour 1 mont ago. The file probably is corrupted in come way (hile I open a message says it has Macros but if I try to remove it I do not find any Macro.). The black point is there at the opening and yesterday was impossible to remove it. Now I open it and it appears immediately, I save the file and it goes away. Strange. I am moving to Numbers. It tkes some work to adapt the XLS files to numbers but it works.
In this case I had no problems. I will try to forget Excel.

E50 Web Browser & Red Button behavior
Is there anyway to change the behavior of the Red Button (End Call) when in the web browser on the E50?
Currently, if the red button is accidentally hit it instantly closes the web browser and all typing and web pages are closed and lost. This happens often when trying to hit the C (Clear) Button to erase words or typing.
It would be much better to either prompt first with an "are you sure?" confirmation or a "push and hold" the red button to close the web browser application without confirmation.For older, S60 2nd Edition based phones there's the "NoRedClose" app.
Perhaps you could request the developer to make an S60 3rd Edition version of it, too (if one is not available already).

NOKIA 202 RED BUTTON NOT WORKING

Hi, DEVRAMP. How did you flash your phone? Is there a battery indicator when you charge it? You may try the following solution below:
Check that the keypad is not locked.
Make sure that all keys are responding correctly when they are pressed. In some cases, a key may get stuck and freeze the whole keypad.
Try removing and replacing the covers (if your phone supports that feature). Check that the power and side keys on the cover are properly aligned (e.g. pushed out) to their respective positions to have a proper tactile feel when pressing the keys.

I just did an update to Lion 10.7.4 with Safari 6.0. Now when I re-open Safari after closing it by clicking the red button, it re-opens to just my home page, not to all my previous tabs as it did before the update. I prefer having my old tabs re-open. How can I fix this?
I've had what I think is the same problem since the most recent software update. I have Lion 10.7.4 and have updated to Safari 6.0. The most noticeable difference is that where previously I had two boxes at the top of the Safari window (one to enter URL addresses, one for Google searches), there is now only one box for both functions. I don't like that as well, but I can live with it. However, since the most recent software update my "back button" only works about 5% of the time. Most of the time it is grayed out. So I usually can't get back to previous pages using the back button. Also, when I've clicked a link that opens a new window (for instance, going through the return process at Amazon, I clicked UPS locator and it opened a new window), where in the past I would have just clicked the red button after I had the information, the UPS locator window would have closed, and I would have been back at Amazon - now if I close the UPS locator window, all Safari windows close. The Safari application doesn't close, but the Amazon window closes, I'm back to an empty screen, and I have to open a new Safari window and reenter everything. I'm using a work-around of clicking on History and selecting the description of the window I want to get back too, but that only works part of the time. In the Amazon example, that's what I did once I had the UPS info, but even though I clicked the correct window description, it took me back to the beginning of the return process & I had to reenter all the info. Of course, that info was easy to reenter, but if I'm in the middle of a complicated process, it's a big problem. I've filed a bug report; I surely hope the Apple engineers are able to fix this. I'm used to using the back button function a lot!

The garage window band has remained me too great and I cannot accede from any way to the corner to modify the size. Due to this I cannot accede to the red button to initiate a recording.
Two things to try:
with some Applications it helps to hold down the the "Option Key" while pressing the green "maximize Window" button.
If that does not help try this Apple Script:
--Open the AppleScript editor (in Applications -> Utilities), paste the following and run it:

set {d1, d2, d3, d4} to (get bounds of window of desktop)
end tell
tell application "GarageBand"

I can't seem to export a slideshow from iPhoto. I go through the export routine, but an iPhoto page comes up with other slideshows I've sent to iTunes, but nothing happens. I've waited, hoping something was happening, but nothing does. Further, once this page is up, you can't click out of it with the red button - to get it off the screen, I have to "force quit".
With Firefox 23 and TabMixPlus 0.4.1.0 installed, an additional box is added to the Tabs options panel that allows 3 options for the tab bar:
*One is to '''Always''' hide the tab bar. I do not know whether future versions of TabMixPlus will remove that option. I have tested in Firefox 23 and it is possible to completely hide the tab bar regardless of the number of tabs open.
Other options added in the additional box with TabMixPlus 0.4.1.0 are:

We purchased the S10 Ideapad for travel and it is wonderful for this. I am enrolled in online courses so I have to always be tethered to a computer with internet access. The Ideapad is fantastic for this use.
One feature that I miss from my R62 Thinkpad is the red button in the keyboard. By adding this feature to future Ideapads, it would be the best of both worlds! Increased functionality and portability - which is why laptops are becoming the standard for business and school travel. If the smaller models had this feature it would truly be a kick-butt machine, in my opinion.
Please pass this suggestion on to the developement department for consideration. I like this model very much (in fact I am writing on it now), but not having the track point is like not having coffee in the morning. It's a very rude awakening.

Lesa HallI like it as well, liked it on my Toshiba Portege 3600 back in 1995 even better, but do not get your hopes up-the Trackpoint (tm) is the jewel of the Lenovo crown and the price point of the keyboard assembly + the redesign involved, basically rules it out for a machine in the sub $700 range.
