Red circle, not on screen
This is very strange, I've had my iPod a week and suddenly a small red circle that you can only see in the light has appeared above the screen. It's not exterior damage it is under the glass. I've no idea what it is!
I agree with J.C. this does seem to be the ambient sensor you are describing especially how you can only see it in certain light.
If you have further questions please feel free to make an appointment at local Apple Store for confirmation and or contact iPod Touch Support.

I have a new iPhone 5C, have the sounds alerts set up. But I'm not getting sound alerts for new voicemail, only the red circle on the screen. How can I make the sound alert work?
I have had this same problem for weeks now with my 4S. I just got a new 5S after being extremely frustrated and the same thing - no sounds. After searching posts all over, I couldn't find a solution. I just told my friend of the issue and he asked "Do you have the Do Not Distrub on?" I didn't even know such a function existed. Upon looking that was exactly the issue.
To resolve, go to Settings> Do Not Disturb> Manual. If it is green, turn it off. You will now get phone calls and text alerts.
This functionality is also on your quick access utility menu (slide up menu). I assume this is how it was enabled on my phone.
I will post on other sites since I searched for weeks for this solution and didn't see it anywhere. Good luck! -

I have transferred all of my itunes music for my old pc to a new laptop via an external hard drive. All songs are sucessfullt loaded in itunes and I can drag songs to my husband's ipod without any problems. However, when I try to drag songs to my iphone 4, it will not let me. I get a red circle with a line through it. Why would it work from itunes to ipod but not to my iphone? HELP!!!

If that doesn't work visit an Apple Store and see if they can replace it. -
When I try to address an e-mail to an address in my iPad's Directory, the name comes up inside a pink block with a red circled exclamation point at the right hand end. "Clicking" on the red circle, gives me a pop-up saying the address is not registered for an iMessage. How do I register my Directory addresses for an iMessage??

The only thing my ipod will do is display the red circle with the X in it. I can not put it in disk mode, it won't work. It's the 160 GB classic with the click wheel. Is there anything else I can do to make it work again?
If you are unable to get the iPod into Disk Mode, the Hard Drive is likely damaged and beyond repair. You'll probably want to have it replaced either by Apple or a third party service center.
Here are Apple's repair prices.

Why have i got a solid red circle on the phone icon at the bottom of my home screen
I have a solid red circle on the phone icon at the bottom of my home screen.I Get a notification message come up on my home screen telling me that i have a new voicemail mesage.
When i dial into voicemail it tells me there are no messages.I Have rang my network provider(3) they did a restore on my phone using itunes on my computer(remotely)but the circle is still there.I took it to my local Apple store(Milton Keynes) when he took the sim card out with the phone still switched on it dissapeared. But when he reinserted the sim it came back. Just wondered if any one else has had this problem.Could it be the sim card?Phoned up 3 they still had my problem on file.told me to go to my local 3 store and ask for a replacement sim.Got the sim the assistant inserted it hay presto no red dot, just waiting for the new sim to be activated.
Thanks for your advice much apprieciated -
This is probably a stupid question, but what does the red circle with a number in it mean on iCal? It looks just like the emails notification. I do not have anything do or up in my cal.
Actually, another person on the "more like this" had the right answer. It meant I had a notification for an invite that I needed to respond to.
Hope this helps you as much as it helped me.

Red CIrcle X becaue the printer does not exist
I have been getting the "print - RED CIRCLE X" because the requested printer does not exist" since I installed CS5 when it first came out. I am using Windows VISTA Home Premium, Service Pack 2 - Photoshop CS5, 12.0.4 64 bit. My computer is an i-7, 920 @2.67GHz with 18GB RAM, 64 bit.
I can print ONE print, the default size shown is STRANGE 1.083" x 3.5 inch, though default is LTR size.
If I try to print another print from the same photo or another, I get the "does not exist" error.
If I try to access the print properties after the first print, I get the "does not exist" error.
My printers - EPSON R1800, R2000 with the latest drivers (6.7 for the R2000).
From the size of the discussion and length - going back past 2010, I thing that Abode should have solved this problem by now. Adobe wants to keep stretching the horizon but can't seem to fix what's wrong with their products NOW. Fortunately, I do not use this version of Photoshop to do a lot of printing. I use another computer on WIndows XP and Photoshop CS3 and don't get this problem.
PHOTOSHOP ENGINEERS, Please wake up and fix the problem. I think that your users have identified a problem that is not isolated to one brand of printer (not the printer's fault - it works with other programs), it is not one version of Windows, IT IS WITH PHOTOSHOP CS5. And don't tell me that it will be fixed in the next updated version. I'm not paying for a program that has this basic a fault - which yo guys can't fix after years of hearing us complain about it.What does the default printer box show?

Software update notification (red circle) will not disappear even after download
Hi all, just a quick question. I updated my software last night after seeing the red, circular "1" update notification over the settings menu. Everything downloaded normally on both my ipad and iphone, but for some reason, the notification circle will not disappear on the iphone. I have synced it with my laptop, turned it off and on, and even reset all the phone's settings but that pesky red circle remains. I have tried just about everything I can think of outside of restoring it to factory settings and starting over. Honestly, I feel it should not come to this. To have to completely wipe my phone and start over because of something as simple as a software update is madness. I know this is a trivial thing to be so annoyed by but I use my phone often and anything out of the ordinary gets irritating quickly. Any advice or info would be much appreciated. Thanks guys!
The quickest way to try to fix it is to download the Mac OS X 10.6.7 Update Combo and manually install the update. It should fill in any missing gaps. I suggest dragging & dropping the Mac App Store into the Trash before the installation to let the update install a fresh version of the MAS.

What is the easiest way to restore my ipod back to factory specs. It has a red circle with a red x in the middle, please help me to fix my ipod, until now i can't use my ipod..i tried all the procedures in Restore ipod from disk mode but still not working, please help me...
If you are unable to get the iPod into Disk Mode to try and restore it, it's a very good indication, as mentioned in the article, that the iPod's hard drive is damaged and in need of replacement either by Apple or a third party repair company.

On my IPad 2 home screen, the mail app used to indicate the number of new messages with a number in a red circle, next to the app. This has vanished, I think about the same time as when I upgraded to the new OS. Does anyone know why and how to restore this feature?
Thanks. While you were replying to my question, I went into notifications and figured
it out. Appreciate the quick response! -

Bug in editing percentages of template?
I opened the Grade Book template in Numbers and am trying to enter in percentages over the dummy text ones. If I type in "50" for a percentage, I get 5000%. If I type in "5", I get 500%. Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong?
