Red dot on phone icon

I have iphone 5 and iOS7. After I get voice mail a red dot appears with number in it. I called my voicemail and deleted the message. Before the red dot dissappears. But it stays since iOS7. A while ago, I have to power off and on, then the red dot will be gone. But now I have iOS7.1 and no matter what I do, the red dot stays there forever! It's really annoy and could someone tells me how to get rid of it.

Hi 2 solutions I have read on this forum, one helped me.
First see if your cellular data is turned on.  If not turn it on and see if the dot goes away.  My did because without cellular you do not receive visual voicemail,  so I assume the dot is alerting you to an issue.
The second suggested going to your carrier because there could be a conflict that only the carrier can resolve.
For more solutions search for 'unavailable visual voicemail red dot' and there may be more ideas.

  • Red dot on phone icon and voicemail won't go away

hi there. Since early today I've had a blank red dot stuck on my phone icon on my phone. Same on the voicemail icon.  This happened after deleting a voicemail I got earlier.
However the the icons are now stuck there and after switching my phone on and of I get a message saying New Voicemails. There is no voicemails though and none saved.
ive ive tried switching on and off, left myself another message and then deleted it but I'm getting no joy.  Anyone got any ideas?

Please check the information in the following thread - How do I make the new voicemail notification (red dot) go away on iPhone 4?
I know the thread started a few years ago, but the suggestions might help you. Let us know.

  • Can I opt to not get red dots on the icon

When an update is avaiable, a red dot is placed on the icon.  I don't want this to happen.  How can I stop this behavior?  The option is to remove the icon from the dock.  Is that what Apple wants me to do? (And consequently, not purchase anything from the app store.)

That's what the red dot is for. So you go and download the app, that way they let you know when an update is available, so you always have the latest version.
If you don't like it, just remove it form the dock and use the Launch Pad to start your apps. I set mint to activate with CTRL_ARROW UP. Love it.
I actually cleaned all junk from my dockm left only the bare essentials (mostly just built-in apps) and started using launch pad very heavily - minus the annoying app store red dots whih drove me up a freaking wall, same as you.
I know you can modify what the red dot displays in Mail, but I don't think you can disable red dot in wither Mail App Store or iWeb apps.

  • 3 red dots in upper right corner

All of a sudden I have three red dots on the lock screen under the battery strength.  5C, and have IOS 8

    Hey,
no I didn't download uTorrent. And they seem to be talking about a little red dot as an icon giving them an error message.
I've tried all the standard routines.. all thats left is to bring it in!? anyy other suggestions?
The only time I've seen something similar is when the graphic processor is starting to have problems.
Have you noticed dots in any other part of the screen or had any odd system crashes lately?
It's also possible for an LCD screen to do this, they would be called... "not quite dead screen pixels", although I've never seen a screen line up pixels in a row like that, but it's exactly what a GPU starting to fail looks like.
Try booting from your install disk and see if they're still visible.

  • HT1937 how do I get rid of the red dot on my iPhone, phone icon?

How do I get rid of the red dot on my iPhone, phone icon ?

If you did that already and looked at your recent calls and the red dot doesn't disappear then try rebooting the phone. Hold down the Sleep and the Home buttons until the Apple logo displays on the screen.

  • Red dot appearing on phone icon.

    Hi all,
Noticed the a red dot appears on the phone icon, When I select the phone icon the redtthen appears on the voicemail icon. I've cleared all voicemail, messages and call history but it still appears..
Any ideas on what this is ?

The dot means that the phone thinks you have voicemail. It thinks so because your provider is telling the phone you have voicemail (and it's waiting for your provider to update your phone to say there is no more voicemail before the dot is removed). Sometimes the voicemail indicator can show up incorrectly, especially if you are traveling.
So you can wait for it to go away by itself (will usually happen the next time you get a voicemail and listen to it) or you can call your provider and they will clear it for you.

  • What does the red dot next to the iPhone Icon mean after "find my iPhone" has successfully located the phone?

The police are at the home where my phone was located about an hour ago, but now there is a red dot and it appears that the phone is no longer turned "on" so they can no longer prove that the phone is there?

Yep, it the phone is switched off, there is no way to locate it. What you're looking at is the last located position, which will be available for 24 hours.

  • How do I remove red dot update from App Store icon

I just updated nine iPhone apps via iTunes during a recent sync of my iPhone (5s OSv8.1.2). Update and sync both went fine without a hitch. However, the App Store icon on my iPhone still has a red notification dot with a number 9. I've gone into the app, selected Updates, and noticed that all nine apps are listed there with an "Open" box next to them. I've opened each app and each works fine. I've powered off the phone; same problem.
How do I remove the red dot notification next to the App Store app?
    Thanks.

Hello, I finally went to the App Store support who rang me back and went through it.  It seems that Mountain Lion will not operate iPhoto 9.3.2, you have to have 9.4.2.  So trashed the application in my Applications folder (which has cleared my App Store of the hanging iPhoto updater) and they signposted me to the download for 9.4.2 (mind you it is taking hours to download!!)  I live in hope that this will fix it.  If it doesn't I'll let you know!

Hi there, just got my new iPhone 4s & the red dot is always on my voicemail icon on the bottom of my homepage. So I check & I have no messages, yet it never goes away. Any ideas, or is it just a glitch in my new phone?

Go into setings and see if you have Celular Data turned on.
Settings / General / Cellular - Then turn Cellular Data  to ON

  • Red dot on iphone 3GS voicemail icon. Please help!!

Having this little red dot on my phone/voicemail icon for a couple of days indicating that i have a voice message and it's annoying.
    Anyone facing the same issue?
Any solutions to clear off the red dot?
I doesn't have voicemail service nor a voicemail box with my service provider.
    Thank you

Icons are explained in the manual:

I believe orientation lock is the icon you are seeing. You can check in the manual.

Restart your MBP holding the trackpad down and hopefully the disk will be ejected.  Then try to return it and get a refund or put it in the trash.  There is nothing that software does for your MBP that you cannot do yourself or with free software.
If can get your MBP started, delete all traces of the offending software.  Worst case is that you may have to erase the HDD and reload the OS and your user data.  I trust that you have a backup (minus MacTuneUp).
Courcoul has given you his opinion in a very succinct manner, and as you might surmise, I agree with him.
    Ciao.

  • HT4515 hi! I have a red dot on my phone and it is the first time I see it, why?

Hi! I have a red dot on my iphone 5s and it is on the phone. Why?

Is it on the Phone app?
If so the red dot means that you have a voicemail, but voicemail is unavailable.
    Is cellular data turned off?
