Red Dragon Premiere CS6 (can't import.. gulp!)

Hello,
When trying to import Red Dragon footage into Premiere Pro CS6 I get the following message: "Unsupported format or damaged file."
The footage is:
Type: REDcode 7:1
Resolution: 3840 x 2160
Tried importing older footage from Red Epic and it works perfectly.  The Red Dragon footage works perfectly in Red Cine-X Pro also so I know it's a Premiere issue.
From what I've been reading there is no support for Dragon footage in CS6 but I'm hoping that is not true and that there is an update I can install or some viable workaround.
I really hope someone can help with this issue, I would be eternally grateful for a solution.
Please let me know.
Thanks.

I know that RED Dragon 6K requires accelerated debayering which has been added to Premiere Pro CC 2014 Release and I have ran successful tests of the .r3d's and not only do they import no problem, they play back in near realtime even on an old slow machine and via the Source Settings option you have access to debayering and color space adjustments, similar to those in RedCine.  As for import support for CS6 I do not believe that any official support exists, however as you say older epic r3d's you have found to work and Dragon files are also r3d format, just larger and with more metadata.  However, since camera origination type is key metadata to set the proper debayering and colorspace, it is very likely that CS6 does not recognize the header data and therefore is initiating the error as it doesn't know how to handle it and therefore sees it as unsupported.  My recommendation would be to download the free trial version of Premiere Pro CC2014 and chances are it imports with no problems confirming that indeed it is incompatibility with CS6.  Also this way you will gain many performance enhancements and other features to support working with Ultra Hi-Res+ media and across Prelude, Premiere, After FX, SpeedGrade & Media Encoder.  As for a workaround to use Dragon footage in CS6, you can always use RedCine to Transcode the media out to another format that is natively supported by CS6.

Premiere CS6 won't import mov files, the message: "file has no video or audio streams" shows up instead. How can I import the files?

MOV is a wrapper that can contain many different codecs. The message you get is indicative of a distribution codec inside the MOV wrapper. You may need to convert the material to an editable codec before importing.

  • Premiere CC can't import Apple Motion files after clean install

Got a new SSD so I decided to do a spankin new install of everything except Final Cut Pro legacy (which I thought I could finally do without). Only snag has been that Premiere CC can't import my Apple Motion projects (version 3) and I can't encode ProRes anymore. Rather than do a lengthy install of the whole Final Cut Studio I just decided to purchase Motion 5 and thought all the functionality would come back. Nope. Premiere's browser won't even display .motn files and if I try to "import" them they are greyed out.
So now I'm stumped. Do I need to install Motion first and then Premiere CC?

    Premiere 7.2.2

    Hi R & G,
I don't believe Motion 5 projects are supported. Motion 4, or earlier, as I understand it. You can install FCP to get the ProRes codecs back.

  • Premiere CS6 Hangs when Importing Video from P2 Camera

I just bought Premiere CS6.  I am a Final Cut Pro refugee, running Mac OS Snow Leopard.
So far (day 1) I am having three serious problems, one major, one less so, and one intermediary.
First, when I try to import video off my P2 camera using the Media Browser, Premiere hangs.  When I force quit, a dialog box briefly pops up saying that a "serious error" has occured.  If I can't load my video into Premiere, this is a serious problem.
    Is this a known issue?
Second, when I view the contents of my P2 card in the media browser, the order of the clips is totally jumbled.
If I can get the media browser import function to work, is there a way to view the clips in the order in which they were shot?
Third, I tried to "ingest" my clips through Prelude, which just copied the whole arcane folder structure of the P2 card onto my local hard disk.  I could do this in the Mac OS Desktop and I really don't see the point of Prelude.  I would rather not navigate the arcane P2 folder structure, and I need something that will take my video out of Panasonic's .mxf wrapper file.
I've noticed that I can drag the .mxf files directly into Premiere, but is there a way to import my video that will also extract the files from the .mxf wrapper, so that I can also open the files in other software?
I downloaded the Premiere CS6 updater but it didn't help.
Together, these issues represent serious defects that cripple my ability to use this software.

Im have the exact same issue with the importing or P2 files and premere crashing/ hagingup, i on the other hand have been using adobe for over 4 years and never had this issue, i still have CS5 on comp and there are no problems there, kinda silly i cant use CS6 for work....
so what did you exactly do to fix issue??
also i know exactly what porblem u are running into with the aspect ratio problems, been an issue for as long as i have been working with adobe premere and HVX, and i can help u there, simply dont use DVCproHD sequence if you are going to DVD just do a DV widscreen sequence and all the ratio problems will fix when u go to encore. or use DVCproHD sequence but drop the entire sequence you worked on into a DV widscreen sequence or an HDV sequence and resize acordingly (make lager or smaler so fits properly in 16/9) the problem is some of the P2 cameras are not a true 16/9 there like 15/9 or somthing, its odd, anyway thats what i do, it doesnt really ad much time and it workes
Dear adobe plp if you read this, then you know about problem importing, whatever he did dosnt seem like you should have to do that... any questions feel free to contact me.

  • Premiere CS6 no Longer importing P2

Premiere CS6 Pro is no longer importing my P2 files. It did for the last year without any issues. What happened & how can I get it back?
The P2 file will import into After Effects & Encoder. I can encode the P2 files to AVI & then import those files into Premiere. Premiere will take everything else but P2.
The P2 files will import into the other 2 Adobe workstations.

  • FLASH CS6 CAN NOT IMPORT CS6 ILLUSTRATOR FILES

The developers of Flash professional CS6 are lazy! My computer must be really stupid, because it seems, for a new program, they have just copy pasted code from CS5.5, resulting in an error when ever I try to import illustrator files from CS6 that reads "Illustrator documents saved in versions of illustrator greater than CS5 can not be imported into flash CS5.5"  I HAVE BLOODY FLASH CS6 NOT FLASH CS5.5 YOU BLUBBERING BUFFOON!!!! *throws books across room*
How can this problem be solved because it is looking like buying this was a waste of money, as I can't import basic files from illustrator CS6 that I use in my CS6 program which is essential to getting my major work done (which is due on the 12 of August). DON'T YOU DARE SAY BUY CS5!!!!!!!

  • Premiere CS6 cann't import MPEG2 files

    Hi,
Whenever I try to import MPEG2 videos in to Adobe Premiere CS6, I get the following error:
"There was an error decompressing Audio or Video...."
Doe's anybody know what is the reason for that?
    Thanks

I usually visit this forum since 2006. I Had another Adobe ID, but forgot the password, and as i lost access to email, used to make the forst ID, I did this other ID about a year ago.
I have followed and contributed to dozens of posts on the Audition, Encore, Premiere, Soundbooth, that useless software, since that year. In ALL posts of this forums , we found this same MVPs, with their "maybes" or "figured out" about everything. Is not my account, but this is very time consuming, so I wondering  if they have time for other things in life.
There are few posts that I write something in the solution, as this demand research, test and post the result. but when I do, it is a final and tested solution. For example, in 2009 i resolving a problem from a bloak, that i have to write a software driver to him. I spent 2 months in that job, but i resolved his problem, not these "maybes" or "perhaps", or else "I heard that" or "try this," or "try it".
In forums in my opinion is when you post an answer to a question has to be "THE ANSWER",  definitive, correct, tested, to solve the problem of who asked for help there. This demand, days, a week, months  sometimes.

  • AVI files in Adobe Premiere? (can't import)

    Hi,
I've just tried to import a bunch if .avi files into Adobe Premiere (OSX) but they all failed due to missing codec. Is there a way around this? I've looked at some other threads but don't understand it all and i'm on a bit of a deadline.
I've currently installing it on my windows box as i know OSX doesn't play nice with avi anyway, is it likely to work?
The avi files have multiple streams -2 camera angles are recorded, when they are loaded  both show and play in sync so i'm worrying about converting to another format.
    Thanks

What is the source of those files?

  • Anyone use Action Essentials2 with Premiere?  Can't import media

Error message indicates codec needed, so I installed the PNG codec, but still can't open the media.  Could use some advice where to go next...

    Welcome to the forum.
What are the complete details of your source footage? If the program says that you need a CODEC, that is likely. By knowing what the CODEC is, someone can direct you. If you do not know the full details of your source footage, the free utility, G-Spot can tell you everything.

  • How to import footage from Sony F55 to Premiere CS6?

I'm going to shoot a project on HD with a Sony F55 (not in 2k or 4k). My DoP has given me some test footage, but I am unable to import the footage into Premiere. Can it import native or do I need to download any additional elements?
    Thanks, Jason

Thanks. When I try and import the file, right now I just get a green blank screen when the clip comes up. (I have successfully loaded the plug-in). I just dragged and dropped the clip plus its supplementary files into the project, and is said that 3 of the supplementary files weren't compatible (one is .mxf.bmp and one is .BIM). The .mxf clip itself is what appears, but it is just blank. I'm wondering if I'm loading the clip wrong?

  • Can I import NEX-VG20 AVCHD 2.0 into Premiere Elements 10?

I'm considering buying a Sony NEX VG20, and I can't find information on whether Premiere Elements 10.0 can import it's files. The VG20 video format is AVCHD 2.0 (MPEG-4 AVC(H.264)), 1920x1080 @ 60p/24//60i. If Premiere Elements can't import the files directly, is there a work-around?

  • Can I import Red Dragon footage into After Effects?

I keep getting the error that the format might be unsupported, but I thought that Dragon support was part of CC?

    > " I thought that Dragon support was part of CC"
Where have you seen that for After Effects CC? I can't find any public mention of that, except in discussions of what's coming in a future version due out soon. Premiere Pro CC (7.1) added RED Dragon import, but camera formats very often start in Premiere Pro and then get integrated into After Effects next.

  • Can't import MP4 from Panasonic GH4 into Premiere CS6

Can't import 50Mbps MP4 from Panasonic GH4 into Premiere CS6 but I can import it into CC. Any workarounds to get it into CS6?
Another odd thing is that I can import the 50Mbps MOV from the GH4 into CS6 but can't play it using Windows Media Player (for quick review before importing) like I can the MP4. If someone knows how to get the MOV from the GH4 to play with Windows Media Player I'd start using that format instead of the MP4. Odd thing is that the 50Mbps MOV recorded with my GH3 can play in Windows Media Player.

I updated to the latest version CS6 and that solved the MP4 import problem. Still working on the other issue.

  • Can't import XML from Premiere CS6 to Final Cut Pro X?

    Hi,
I've been using Premier CS6 but I have downloaded the trail of FCPX and wan't to give that a try on my mac. I have edited the video in Premiere CS6 and exported it with the "Final cut pro xml" feature in AP CS6. I've exported the map containing the videofiles, the XML actually everything!
But the FCPX won't let me select the XML when I try to use the import "XML". What am I doing wrong? Don't get any error messages since I can't even select the XML file.
Thank you very much in advance, looking forward to try the FCPX!

Nothing the XML export from Premiere is for legacy versions of FCP not for FCPX.

  • Can't import uncompressed AVI files in CS6 Premiere Pro

    Hi!
I'm using Adobe CS6 Premiere Pro on Windows 7 Pro (64bit) but can't import uncompressed AVI files.
I get the error that the file has no valid fomat or is damaged, but I can watch the avi videos without a

I also have CS4 installed, with CS4 I can import this files.
What can I do to solve this?

AVI is a wrapper, what is inside YOUR wrapper - Exactly what is INSIDE the video you are editing?
