Red & green Frames

Thank you, Andrew_S, I am Working on a System i5, 8 GB Ram, and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 470, and i exported the sequence, because on this Clip i had  Wharp Stabilizing and Color correction, and each new building of my Clip on the Timeline was very slow. So i had the idea to render and new import this footage to make all this quicker. if this is the reason of my red and screen frames, i don't know.

Why export a sequence as a file and then re-import it? You can always add an existing sequence into a new sequence (nesting) to make a new less cluttered way of working. Does this way still make red and green frames?

  • Green Frames in Exported Files

I have noticed, since moving to DSLR 1080p video, that my workflow ends up with lots of seemingly random green frames, and Premiere Pro crashes a lot more.
My system is a brand new system, and I have never had this happen before, on either my old system (running CS3 and SD video).
I have had the green frames appear in 3 different cases, and often, all of them simultaneously: when scrubbing or previewing my timeline, when exporting to a move (mostly I use 264.BlueRay, but it happens with other file types too), and when trying to cross with After Effects (both, importing a timeline into AE, as well as importing an AE project into PP).
I have tried clearing my media chache files and database, changing my memory settings (allocating anywhere from 8-13GB for PP), optimizing for both memory and performance, changing my playback quality, re-installing both PP and AE, changing the Renderer to both "Software Only" and "GPU Accelartion", and restarting.
It is almost like the link manager is not linking to the source file properly, because I can place another clip in the timeline in place of the "green one", and that works, as well, if I manage to export the clip, I can replace the original with the newly exported one, and that works.  I believe this is also the case in regards to the issues I have had trying to work with AE, as it seems as though I am creating too many cross links and it just doesn't like it.  Finally, when I view my task manager, sometimes the "Adobe DT32 Server.exe *32" is using a HUGE amount of memory, just under 1GB itself...this is when PP tends to crash the most.
It is totally possible that I have missed something, or my constant changing of settings isn't helping the situation, or my lack of knowledge of the "technical" end of PP is my downfall, so I am willing to take any recommendations and/or feedback on how to fix this...it is happening with all my projects and is a real pain to try to work around.
I have created a short screen capture video to show what I mean.  The first bit shows the files working in the preview window, but when I overlay the exported .m4v file, you will see that there are green frames exported instead of the proper video (and, as I mentioned, sometimes this just happens when scrubbing and previewing, even without exporting). http://screencast.com/t/AQMWLUC2x
    Thanks!

    Thank you.
It looks like the camera shoots H.264 full-AVCHD, and a couple other similar modes.
If you shot in the full-AVCHD mode, 1920 x 1080, and us that footage in a matching Sequence, there should be no red line above the Clips (sounds like what you have), and the footage should edit just fine on an adequately fast system, providing that you have copied the full folder structure from your camera's card to your system.
You should not need to install any Nikon software to use this footage. That was just in case your camera used MJPEG CODEC, like many other Nikons do/did. For MJPEG, one often finds that they need their camera mfgr's. exact, tweaked version of MJPEG, and that is often installed only with other software from the camera's utility disc. Not your case.
Also, the Nikon AVCHD is not the only footage type displaying the problems.
In my mind, we have ruled out a lot of possibilities, but that does not address your problem - random green Frames.
Sometimes, odd Frames can be a display driver issue, but yours are showing up in the output files too.
You have tried with both MPE hardware ON and OFF.
It does sound like ADL is not doing "its thing" properly, all of the time, but unfortunately, I am at a loss, as to what could be the cause.
Thanks for taking the time to answer a few questions, and also for doing a very good post. Wish that I had some ideas on how to test, or suggestions on what the cause might be. As there are not tons of others, shouting "me too," it seems that the issue is either specific to your installations, or your system (seems like you have a more than adequate system, but perhaps Harm, or Bill G. will spot something, that I missed).
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Setting Red, Green, Blue with JMF

    Hi all,
I am creating a sliding control to change the red green and blue components of a video stream using JMF and the method getVisualComponent() from the API javax.media.Player.
This may be a simple question, but does anyone know how to set the RGB components of a player?
    regards

No, my application takes a frame and image and then works on that image. Similar to a lot of postings that have been given in this forum and in text books. In the end I am using filters to achieve the R, G and B changes. Thanks for your interest.
    cheers

  • PP 2014 CC  - R3D files - Random Green frames with GPU GTX970

    Hello
I am struggling with a problem when reading & exporting frames R3D files from a Red epic Dragon. Within the app, in a timeline, certain frames will randomly have a heavy green hue. Green frames will also show up in exported image sequences. PP is using CUDA on Windows 7 and I have a NVIDIA GTX970 with the latest CUDA & driver. I do not have this issue when exporting with the CPU.
It seems that the GTX970 is not validated yet so this could be a  legitimate bug, so I am sharing this info for those looking to buy this card.

    Problem fixed!
Someone from the Adobe support team instructed me to change the renderer to software only mode. This can be changed under File>Project Settings>General. More specifically, I changed it from Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (Open CL) to Mercury Playback Engine Software Only. I deleted the old render files and reexported without any further issues.
    Success!

  • Stabilised Clips - Odd Green Frames

I've imported my holiday video into iMovie 09 with automatic stabilisation used. I'm going through the clips in the Events Library prior to moving them into my project.
I've just come across a clip in the Events Folder with the red squiggly line at the end of it. In this particular clip, I selected the entire clip with the exception of the part marked with the squiggly line. I then discovered that there were some green frames at the end of the clip (at the end, or to the right of, the squiggly section and where the clip would actually end).
I don't know yet if this is the only clip I have with this mysterious green section.
I wonder if this is intended? If it is, it occurs to me that I need not necessarily exclude the whole of that part of the clip shown by the squiggly line, just the green frames at the end maybe. Is this correct?

Thank you for your very useful advice.
I set up iMovie to 1/2 sec. as you suggested. On further examination I discover that the green frame(s) aren't quite at the end of the clip, they occur just before the end.
Here is where the green frames occur -
Here is the last position before the end of the clip, immediately to the right of the previous grab.
The clip to the immediate left of the previous grab also appears to be normal picture video.
I have since discovered that that only occurs in a few clips and not all that have been analysed and have the squiggly line. About a tenth of them I would guess.
As far as I can tell these green frames do not occur on the original footage on the SDHC card. I plugged in my SDHC card using a card reader so that iMovie opened the Importer window again. I reviewed these clips on the card. Couldn't find any evidence of the green frames. However I'm not taking my camera (a Panasonic HDC-SD9) off of my suspect list just yet.

  • Export - QuickTime results in green frames, mis-aligned audio

I have the latest Final Cut Studio with Final Cut 7. I used to use Final Cut Express 4 and recently upgraded. With FCE 4, if I went File-> Export-> QuickTime (not QuickTime conversion) it would rapidly export my project in full quality (albeit a huge file size). It didn't matter how many effects I had or layers of video, the quality was always the best. However, with FCP 7, when I do the same thing, even the simplest transition or effect will throw off the audio and result in green frames instead of my effect/transition. The project settings are the same ones I used in FCE 4, and the project is always fully rendered and prepared. _*+Can anyone tell me why this is happening and how I can fix it?+*_
I need to be able to use this option because I do videography for the Drama Festival in Massachusetts and I need to be able to edit up to the last minute. This form of export is so speedy and lossless that the file size isn't important.
I use a unibody MacBook Pro (Mid 2009) with 4GB RAM and 500GB HDD, and I always switch to the Nvidia 9600GT for editing.

  • Has anyone solved or worked around the After Effects CC red flash frame glitch?

I can't find any mention on any forums of the After Effects CC red flash frame glitch later than Feb. 2014. I just installed 12.2 (which was my first CC version) on my macpro and started getting the red flash frames randomly, but with increasing frequency, in my projects. I have never had this problem before on any previous computer or version for AE. The forums I've read have referenced ProRes source footage, outputs to ProRes, and lens blur. My project uses all of these things.
If there is a universally accepted solution/work around, I haven't seen it definitively. Do I not use ProRes source footage? Do I not render to ProRes 4444? Do I not use the lens blur effect? Do I give up and go back to CS6?

    Hi Keith,
I have the "same" issue with the red frames in AFX CC
I have seen them first, as I resized a prores4444 HD to a smaller format and saw the redframes in the preview window.
Setup in AFX: I created a comp from the HD Prores4444 footage and put this comp in a comp with resolution of 960x540.
The output format was again prores4444.
I shuttled through the clips in the small comp and I saw the red frames too.
When I switched to the HD comp at the same position everything was fine.
I "solved" the problem by flushing the cache, twice. Because after the first purge I was only able to render the first clip. The second one had the red frame problematic again.
Maybe It has something to do with hardware accelerated layers.
    I'm using a MacPro running OSX 10.8.5 with a Nvidia GTX680.
    Cheers
    Michael

  • How do I make the red-green-yellow icons and the text in window title bars larger?

The title text is a little too small to just see - I have to concentrate on it to read it - and I can't tell the red-green-yellow icons apart without staring at them. Yes, my sight is quite poor; I'm already sitting as close as I can.

sorry about the slang display portal, i just mean the entire screen, like a magnifying glass. There is probably a keystroke, and it's probally all in here:
I do agree it's a concern, as I have a torn retina, and my eye gets strained quickly.

  • Red green yellow buttons in iTunes 10

OK, I upgraded to iTunes 10 awhile back and noticed the buttons in upper left corner of window are gray and not red green yellow. I have searched the web for fixes and came up with two
    defaults write com.apple.iTunes full-window -1
    defaults write com.apple.iTunes full-window -int -1
These work to make the vertical to horizontal, but the color is still gone. What is the terminal entry for getting the color buttons back. Not really concerned with the icons being color at this time but would like the corner buttons color.
    Thanks

ok...upon further research found answer to this question myself.

  • Red flash frame

    Hello,
As instructed in this thread, I've started a new thread regarding this problem.
I work as an editor at a channel with Premiere CC 7.2.1 installed as our NLE. We have several 27" iMacs, 21" iMacs and about a dozen MacbookPro's.
We have experienced the red flash frame several times. It has appeared on MXF and ProRes exports. In one case, (using a MacBook Pro) it was generated on a ProRes export, but not on the low res proxy (unsure of format, will update as soon as I know) that is generated when we export to Sienna.
Red frames have also been introduced on MXF exports from iMac's (i7 27"), via ethernet to an Isilon.
I've taken the advice on the previous thread and told an editor to delete her cache and re-export. She did this and the red frames were not on the new export.
However, we have a high turnaround of news and current affairs content where a red frame may not be spotted. This could happen in a SOT or PKG for news. This file with the red frame could be loaded into ENPS and played out live. As the producer will be viewing the proxy in Sienna, they will not see the red frame as it'll only be on the ProRes, which is in a TX server they do not have access too.
The added danger is that if that section of programming is repeated, it will not be TX'd live from in house, it will be TX'd by a third party. Who (I assume) will pick up the red frame and hit us with a fine.
So, Adobe, is there a fix coming? Or is there anything we can do to ensure this does not happen?

To add, the low res proxy is an MPEG movie at 640 x 360, .mov suffix. No red frames appear on this.

  • Red flash frames on C300 sequence exports

Still no fix for this widely noted issue, Adobe?
I'm currently trying to get a job completed and the process of getting anything out of Premiere is absolutely painful...
I have tried all the suggested solutions - trashing preferences and media cache files. I saw somewhere that removing any clips that are a different codec to your footage (in this case it's MXF files from a C300) fixed the problem. Tried switching hardware GPU acceleration off. None of these things have worked. I've had to export the sequence several different times and then stitch these exports together in a new sequence (skipping out the numerous red flash frames, of course) just to get a clean export out. Pitiful.
I can see reports of this happening over a year ago - why hasn't it been fixed? I think it's pretty scandalous that this hasn't been sorted - Premiere is advertised as being able to handle these camera formats natively...well, it can't right now for me if using the native camera files results in issues like this.
Has anyone found any other work arounds that I haven't noted above?

    Hi Mark,
According to the "about Premiere Pro" window, I am on 8.2.0 (65) build.
I have had the same issue exporting out of both Premiere and Adobe Media Encoder - the build of AME is 8.2.0.54.

  • Image to red green blue intengers

    Hello,
I'm trying to extract the three main colours of an RGB image to red green blue values (intengers). Those value will be the sum of all pixels values in the image.

This was exactly it! Thank you so much!
For future reference - if anyone else gets this issue - you are able to enter kernel params when you press tab on the "boot linux" menu item when the iso loads up; this opens up the options where you can input the parameters and in this instance it was indeed nomodeset.
