  • Photoshop CS5: Any color with zero red information will turn black

    I've been having this problem ever since I installed Photoshop CS5 (12.0.4) on a Windows 7 64-bit machine. I've used the program on a Windows Vista 64-bit PC in the past with no problems.
    Any color that has zero red information will turn black when in RGB mode and in either 8 or 16-bit mode. If I use the paintbrush, for example, a color with RGB 0/100/100 will be black. However, the color 1/100/100 will not. This problem also occurs with imported images. I've only tried JPEG and PNG so far. The problem does not save out though, as any image exported from Photoshop will appear fine. The issue seems to go away when in 32-bit mode, but it's a little RAM-intensive, and the file sizes are quite large.
    I have reinstalled Photoshop, reset its preferences, and reinstalled my video card's drivers (I have a Radeon HD 7870). My PC has 8 GB of RAM and plenty of free hard drive space.
    Below is a screencap of what's going on. I'm a bit lost here...any help would be greatly appreciated!

    It's a well-known issue with current ATI drivers and Photoshop's GPU-accelerated color-management logic.
    You can work around it a couple of different ways:
    1.  You can install ATI's latest Catalyst 13.2 beta driver, which does solve the problem, or you can uninstall and drop back to Catalyst 12.8.
    2.  You can switch to Basic GPU mode (and restart Photoshop).  Basic mode moves the color-management logic into the CPU.  This might be a workaround you'd prefer to take until AMD releases their next non-beta driver where the problem is solved.

  • Disk Repair Report Issue

    Hello!
    I am facing a problem.
    Every time I run Disk Repair, it does not complete the process. It stops in the middle of the process and the report does not conclude. The correct it was finished with a message GREEN or RED, informing or not an error. But every time it stops in the middle of the process, not informing anything.
    For the message to appear, I have to run it multiple times or restart the Mac into Recovery mode and run it by Disk Utility in offline mode.
    I did this same test in another Macbook Pro like mine and the same thing happens.
    See in first pic that proccess not was concluded, but the Utility finishid it.
    In second pic, I've runned the Utility 2 times to the proccess be completed. And see that the report not is the same!!
    Would anyone advise what might be happening?
    Thanks.

    Startup in SafeMode first and try "Repair Disk".

  • Logger Service keeps shutting down and restarting

    Hello,
    I have upgraded my lab UCCE call center to v9.0
    I have a simplexed environment
    Ever since, the logger service keeps shutting down and restarting.
    Recently, the node manager issued an error message and shut down the server
    I tried to check some logs but I point out the problem, there are errors in different processes.
    Attached are the logs.

    Hi,
    if the NM tries to reload the server, it indicates a Problem (capital inteded).
    Indeed, there's something interesting going on:
    08:29:11:822 la-rpl Trace: Starting Recovery Key for Admin table is 6717118506000.0
    08:29:11:822 la-rpl Trace: The largestkey = 7201232308043.0 >= startkey = 6717118506000.0

    The short version: configuration data is corrupt.
    The longer version: the above message in red informs about the result of a sanity check. Each configuration change creates a new row in one of the tables holding the config info, and each row contains a RecoveryKey which is usually a large number incremented by the insertion. The error message says the largest key (= last key) contains a value that is lower than the first key. Naturally, this is something to consider for a lonely philosopher, but the rigid world of Cisco ICM does not allow metaphysical phenomena. Lower numbers are supposed to be lower than higher numbers.
    This, of course, raises an exception and the Logger service restarts. If there are too many restarts, the Node Manager kicks in and restarts the machine - this is just a mechanism that prevents a larger extent of data corruption.
    Now, if there's an other side Logger - fine, as the error message suggests, you can initiate manual replication (provided the other Logger database contains valid information).
    Unfortunately, as you have written, this is a side A only environment. This may mean:
    - accepting the situation, stopping ICM, throwing out the logger database, recreating it and reinstalling the Logger service,
    - poking around in various tables to check what may be saved - this may mean the beginning of an adventure.

  • Memory leak - Node clean up?

    Hey guys,
    I'm running into a memory leak and was reading some other threads where people were having their own memory leaks. Is there a way through NetBeans to track memory usage or something to figure out what is consuming memory? My memory leak sounds similar to this gentleman's: [http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5409788] and [http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5357401]
    Setup:
    I have a mySQL database call that returns a bunch of results and in the end converts each record into its own custom node which then gets put into a sequence, which is then given to a listEventsNode (a custom node VBox) and finally put on the stage. As a note each custom node has its own animations, events, images, and shapes.
    listEventsNode gets its list of custom nodes from a publicly accessible sequence variable where its contents is simply cleared and new nodes are added by the next MySQL search. I cleared the eventSequence by using delete myCustomNodeSequence.
    I even go as far as setting the same sequence null (myCustomNodeSequence = null;). This unfortunately doesn't make any difference in terms of memory usage. java.exe will reach 100MB then crash.
    the listEventsNode is bound with eventSequence, this is to ensure that changes to the sequence of custom nodes are immediately reflected in the Vbox (listEventsNode).
    ListEventsNode is on the main stage and there is only one instance of it, but what changes is the content in the eventSequence. Even if I clear the contents of the eventSequence, it doesn't appear to "clean up" the memory.
    The way I'm doing it is probably breaking every rule in the book. I should probably make it so listEventsNode is its own object which isn't bound to any external variables (such as eventSequence) and in the event a new search takes place I simply delete the listEventsNode and when a new search is complete, it re-adds the node to the scene. Am I on the right track here?
    Is there a good "best practices" for JavaFX? For example, a typical mistake that would cause a node to "recreate" itself over and over again in memory when the programmer may have thought it was simply being "written over"? Does this make sense? Because I have a feeling that my application is not deleting the custom nodes that were created for the eventSequence and even if the eventSequence is "deleted" and re-assigned with new custom nodes, the original or previous custom nodes are still residing in memory.
    Let me know if you need to see the source or any logs/readouts from NetBeans during execution if this will help.
    Thanks for taking the time to read this.
    Cheers,
    Nik.

    Your heap usage looks pretty typical. In scenario 5, I think you are simply running out of memory. I doubt its a leak inside the javafx runtime (although it could be).+
    I think you might be right. It's running out of memory and I may have to increase the heap size.
    Say that my application legitimately needs more memory to operate, and I need to increase the heap size. How does this work if you have a fully deployed application? Is the heap size information built into the application itself so that when the jvm runs the application, it allocates the appropriate amount of memory? I've increased the heap size from 64mb to 128mb, and I added many many nodes and I still crapped out when I hit the 128mb ceiling. I changed it to 512 and I added a TON of nodes (when you click a node from the VBox, it adds a miniature version of the node to the scene graph) and I'm just under 200MB. I plan on setting a cap to how many concurrent additional nodes can be placed on the scene graph, which will help.
    If you deploy this as is, how does the application utilize memory if you've adjusted the heap size? Or is this specific to the IDE only?
    Do you know what objects are on the heap? Can you compare what objects are on the heap from one scenario to the next?+
    Where can I find this information in NetBeans profiler?
    Do you have a lot of images? Are they thumbnails or are they images scaled down to thumbnail size?+
    Actually, yes I am using a scaled down thumbnail size of the original image. The original image files are PNG format, 60x60 pixels, and about 8kb in size. I simply use the "FitWidth:" property to scale the image down. I was doing some more reading before I went to bed and I was going to use an alternative way to scale the image down. By simply doing this, the initial heap usage off the 500 node search went down form 44MB to 39MB. It's still slower on consecutive searches versus the first, but it's stable.
    Edit: I've used the width: property to downsize the image and it looks like I'm not running into that heap crash as fast but this poses a problem where I need to have the full size of the image available when a custom node is selected. What's the best way of doing this? I should probably store the image location in a string and recreate the image when I need it in full size since there is only one full size version of it on the screen at a given time. I've also completely disabled the addition of a picture in my custom node; it appears these images don't take up a lot of space since they are very small. I save an additional 3-5MB in heap space if I completely disable the pictures and have just the nodes themselves. Each node has animation effects (i.e. fading in/out of colors, changing of color if selected). Although the class itself is pretty dang long in comparison with any other classes I have.
    Are you clearing the nodes from your scene content before the search or after? If after, are you creating the new nodes before clearing out the old?+
    Yes, I have a function that reassigns the stage.scene.content sequence omitting the custom vbox that houses the list of custom nodes prior to the next search. The "cleanUp()" function is called prior to the insertion of the new custom vbox.
    It might be useful to turn on verbose garbage collection (-verbose:gc on the java command line) just to see what's happening in gc.+
    What is this exactly? I tried putting in System.gc() but I'm not sure if I'm seeing any difference yet.
    Edit: Actually, I've placed System.gc() after I run my cleanUp() function and I'm noticing the heap usage is more conservative. Seems to clear more often than it did before. But yes, the underlying problem of my running out of memory is to be looked at.
    You might also (just as an experiment) force garbage collection between your searches.+
    This seems to work well with smaller result sets. However, a search that produces over 500 custom nodes in a custom VBox uses more than half of the available heap size, so the next time it tries to do the same search it just crashes like you mentioned in your first point. The memory simply runs out. What I don't get is if I "delete" the custom vbox prior to inserting it, the memory doesn't seem to be released immediately. From what I'm reading about the garbage collector, it doesn't exactly do things in a prompt fashion.

  • Safari for windows and itunes won't connect to the internet

    Hi all,
    I tried to connect to the itunes store this morning and it does't work. I can't tell you the last time I actually used the itunes store. Months ago at least. I'm not getting an error message or anything. The bar gets less than half way accross then just stops.
    Second problem. After finally getting fed up with internet explorer I decided to change my browser to Safari (for windows). It insalled fine and opens ok. But it just won't load any web pages. Again, no error messages or anything. The bar gets part way accross then just stops.
    I have tried all of the tips on the apple website and I've also tried all the tips in the forums that have worked for everyone else but not me.
    I've added Safari and checked that itunes is allowed in my firewall. Even tried turning my firewall off.
    I've checked that I'm not connecting through a proxy server.
    I've tried resetting the host file.
    All of the software on my computer is up to date.
    I've tried flushing the DNS settings.
    I've run diagnostics in itunes. (All ok)
    My internet explorer runs ok so there is no problem with my internet connection.
    I've tried just about everything I can think of and nothing works so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks,
    Emma

    I'm also having this problem for about 3 months now. Tried contacting twice with Apple Support and after a few tips, they just stopped responding. Tried uninstalling the entire Apple Suite (QuickTime, iTunes, Safari, Bonjour, etc.) and still didn't work. APPLE, PLEASE HELP US HERE!
    I also ran a diagnostic and found a problem to connect to the Store (sorry for the diagnostic in portuguese... system language):

    Apple, once again I ask you to help us on this one. In the next holliday I'll nuy a tablet and a phone to my mother and I'm considering getting an Android. I have a lot of apps in my library now, but I'll not format my PC just to get iTunes and Safari working. Sorry, but if it doesn't work or we don't receive any response, I'll ditch Apple products for good.

  • Need help with data grid...

    I have setup a profile card which displays information about individuals by pulling data from an XML database.
    I have multiple text fields and couple movie clips that display images but i need a datagrid to display stats for each individual.
    The stat information is set as attributes on a array of XML nodes each node is a year.
    Example XML
    <hockey>
         <profile>
              <name>Wayne Gretzky</name>
              <image>pic1</image>
              <dob>Jan 26, 1961</dob>
              <position>Centre</position>
              <height>6'0"</height>
              <weight>185lbs</weight>
              <history>"important information"</history>
              <medal_record>
                        <medal standing ="Silver" Event =" 1981 Canada Cup" sport="Ice Hockey"/>
                        <medal standing ="Gold" Event =" 1984 Canada Cup" sport="Ice Hockey"/>
                        <medal standing ="Gold" Event =" 1987 Canada Cup" sport="Ice Hockey"/>
                        <medal standing ="Gold" Event =" 1991 Canada Cup" sport="Ice Hockey"/>
                        <medal standing ="Silver" Event =" 1996 World Cup of Hockey" sport="Ice Hockey"/>
              </medal_record>
         </profile>
         <profile>
              <name>Wayne Gretzky2</name>
              <image>pic2</image>
              <dob>Jan 26, 1962</dob>
              <position>Right Wing</position>
              <height>6'1"</height>
              <weight>205lbs</weight>
              <history>"important information"</history>
              <medal_record>
                        <medal standing ="Gold" Event =" 1981 Canada Cup" sport="Ice Hockey"/>
                        <medal standing ="Bronze" Event =" 1984 Canada Cup" sport="Ice Hockey"/>
                        <medal standing ="Silver" Event =" 1987 Canada Cup" sport="Ice Hockey"/>
                        <medal standing ="Silver" Event =" 1991 Canada Cup" sport="Ice Hockey"/>
                        <medal standing ="Gold" Event =" 1996 World Cup of Hockey" sport="Ice Hockey"/>
              </medal_record>
         </profile>
    </hockey>
    The red information is what i need to get displayed by the Data Grid for each profile.
    Standing
    Event
    Sport
    Gold
    1981 Canada Cup
    Ice Hockey
    Bronze
    1984 Canada Cup
    Ice Hockey
    The swf has buttons to cycle through the profiles which loads the new information from the XML.
    If you have a good understanding of how the dataGRIDs work please let me know if you can help as this is the last problem holding me from finishing this.
    Thanks in advance.

    Update... I got the data pulling in but it doesnt change as the profile changes with the rest of the data.

  • Fuji (X10) EXR support bugged

    Lightroom supports Fuji X10 EXR RAF files since version 4 Beta (and v3.6), but unfortunately it is not working properly. There are two different EXR modes and Lightroom seems to support both, but the outcome is not right.
    1) Loading 6 MP EXR DR (200/400) mode where images of the two sensor halves are saved in the RAF file leads to wrong colors. Specifically the attenuated highlights of the longer exposed half are turned to purple while they should at least be neutral grey (attenuated clipped white). There also are color artifacts on the edges between the two blended halves when clipped highlights are present.
    Generally I would like to be able to have more control over the whole blending process and especially be able to get more information out of clipped highlights. Both Lightroom and the in-camera JPGs just ungracefully attenuate clipped whites from the longer exposed half to gray, but do *not* use the unclipped information of the shorter exposed half to get more information out of them.
    Even though Capture One also doesn't give any control over the blending process I was able to pull out detail/information from those highlights while in Lightroom I can only turn bright purple into dark purple regardless of whatever exposure relevant slider I use.
    2) Loading 12 MP full resolution RAF files generally works, but there is _less_ detail in them than in out-of-camera JPG, regardless of what filter/sharpness settings I tried. Lightrooms lens correction for the X10 works better than the in-camera one in that it does not compress the middle of the image (by cutting more off the sides), so in the middle there might be slightly mode detail out of Lightroom. But the rest of the image only gets detail on a level somewhere in between 6 MP ooc JPG and MP ooc JPG (meaning more detail than 6 MP, but less than 12 MP).
    I can imagine that the demosaicing process could be optimized, but another culprit might be Lightroom's sharpening method, especially where the "Detail" slider is concerned. The Detail slider seems to have a hard time with EXR pattern in general and especially EXR noise pattern. Increasing Detail on Lightroom's Sharpening filter mostly increases noise and quite considerably so. Especially on 12 MP full resolution files the labyrinth like noise pattern of the EXR images gets sharpened a lot by the Detail slider.
    LR's luminance filter seems to suffer from EXR specific noise patterns, too. Again it has a hard time finding the right balance of eliminating noise while keeping detail, at least compared to the in-camera noise filter (and some other RAW software I tried).
    One more thing that I am not sure about whether it is a problem of RAW software (aka LR) or the camera: While reds in JPG may either be somewhat oversaturated while at other times clip the red channel into turning reds to pink I noticed that in LR they may appear more orange. Pushing orange towards red via sliders helps with that, but I wonder if this is a form of misinterpretation by Lightroom or if the raw file really contains more orange than red information?
    Thanks for any answers in advance!

    "High Resolution" DR (ISO equal or higher than DR) in M size should be usable. L size is usable, too, but the detail is lacking (more than 6 mp, but less than 12 mp ooc JPGs). EXR DR RAW files are a special case. It's not easy to even create them with the camera, because you have to use RAW + JPG and ISO below DR and then shoot a situation where ISO below 400 is enough (broad daylight).
    And these files are usable, but colors are somewhat off in LR, which can at least partly be managed via HSL. It's not perfect, because highlights of the longer exposed sensor half are handled wrong (from my point of view), but I send some example images now. We need to give Chan some time, because I only sent the files a few days ago.
    One thing that doesn't work well between LR is EXR kind of noise and LR's sharpening. Some people called that "reticulation pattern" on the DPreview forum. What happens is that LR's sharpening tends to sharpen noise more distinct than anything else, so you need to keep that "Detail" slider down and overally watch sharpening. Also LR's luminance noise-reduction tends to remove more detail than the in-camera one and the color noise slider has to be used with caution in order to keep saturation (default value is too high).
    It's all workable, but not exactly in love with each other.

    Hi
    I am using sun java application server 9.0 and netbeans 5.5.1. For your information the Netbeans 5.5.1 has created already Queue in the sun java application server 9.0 when I created Message driven bean and I am able to see the queue connection in the Sun application server admin console. Even then I getting the same exception displayed below:

  • File Event Listener

    Hi,
    I know this question has been asked before but I can't seem to find the answer. Has anyone ever build or knows about a FileListener class? I know about File.lastModified but would prefer a different solution. I read some post about netbeans having a FileEvent class but I can't seem to find information on netbeans.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    TIA
    Maizo
