  • Red light and won't charge

I got my bb 9300 a couple of weeks ago. my problem is that it suddenly shuts off and the led would turn to red light. it won't turn on. I thought it was just battery empty or something so I charge my phone, it them keeps on having red light and then keeps on having this image of no battery or something. It did turn on one time then vibrates hard and then turns off again. After that it won't turn on. just red light, no battery. Please help.

If you tried a wall charger (that previously worked with your shuffle) and computer ports, the most likely cause is a problem on the iPod.  At seven months, it may not be the battery (although it sounds like you use it a lot every day), but it sounds like the battery is unable to charge.
Does the iPod still appear in iTunes when you connect it?  If it does, you can try doing a Restore using iTunes.
Restoring iPod to factory settings - Apple Support
If the wall charger is something you did not previously try, it's possible that the computer's USB port is not supplying enough power.  As a test, shut down (power off) your computer and disconnect all USB devices (including any hubs).  You can leave standard keyboard/mouse connected, if used.  If the computer is a laptop, connect its power adapter so that it's not running on battery power.  Put the shuffle power switch in the OFF position.  Start up computer, run iTunes, and connect iPod to a direct USB port on the computer.
At seven months, it is still under warranty.

  • Red solid then blinking light and dead unit

hi, this is my 1st blackberry, I have had the 8330 from verizon for a month and a half, the unit completely died on me with no warning, i just received a call, then it went completely black, and the red light started blinking, 4 quick blinks then a pause, I tried to reboot, taking the battery out and restarting but nothing, after puting the battery back in the light stayed red till I tried to power up then it went into the ame 4 blink pattern, never powered up, just a dead unit, I have been extremly careful with this unit, never droped, alwas stored in the original case, does this usually happen with the 8330? does anybody have a clue what may have caused this? or has it happened to anyone else? I spoke to verizon and after a half hour and taking it to the store to confirm that it dosent work, they are sending me a new refurbished unit, I am afraid that this may happen again, any thoughts? Help, thanks

  • Wont swicth on (no red light and no response) after dropping

    Hi
A 5 year child banged my phone (9360) onto a wall and it wont switch on since.
I reinserted the battery, etc and switched on the device. While it did switch on but there was no display (possible short). I knew phone was working because, I was able to receive calls even without the display.
I put it on charge and after 15-20 mins noticed that the phone got extremely hot and stopped charging. I wanted to backup contacts before it was too late however, my PC wont recognise the device. Finally after installing the BB software and retrying many times, my phone got connected but only to give me the power drained tone. By the time I fetched the charger the phone went dead and it wont start up since. I tried removing battery, plugging it in and then reinserting battery after 2 mins (did not get the no battery signal - assuming display is not working). However, nothing happens. Even the red light wont start. I desperately want to get my contacts.
I need a way to either switch on the phone or get my contacts. This is my business phone and it would have a big impact if I dont get the numbers asap.
    Please help!

I have the same problem ...... my blackberry curve 8520 was on charge all night and seemed okay this morning. Took it off charge. Sometime in the next 10 minutes it switched itself off and I cannot power up again.
I've taken the battery out and put it back in again.
I've tried with power supply attached. Red light comes on for a few minutes, then nothing and still cannot power up.
Same when attached to PC with USB cable.
    Help please !!!!!!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain directly connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB, not a cradle):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    Remove the battery
    Wait 15 minutes
    Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs. If it fails, then redo it but increase the wait time in step 4 to 2 hours, and perhaps 4-5 hours.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain an known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem. Note carefully please that "new" and "know good" are not necessarily the same things. While rare, a "new" battery certainly could be defective. Rather, the simplest (and least costly, btw) method to conduct this test is to find someone with an identical BB who has no issues...trade batteries and see what happens.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Red Light and iTunes problems! Please help!

My macbook is a little more than a year old. Just recently a little red light came on inside the headphone jack and the internal speakers will not work any longer.
Well, I searched online and read about the "switch" that sometimes gets thrown off or whatever. I've tried locating this switch with a toothpick and small metal rod, but I can't find it. If I hold the metal rod in a certain way, the light will go off momentarily. And if I hold the headphone jack in a certain way, the internal speakers will work momentarily.
And just recently, iTunes has started acting up. I play a song, and it will play through the speakers. I take the plug to the speakers out of my macbook and plug it back in, and iTunes will not play the song. It states that it is playing, but no sound is coming out of the speakers that had just worked prior to unplugging them. I have to restart iTunes for it to work.
I can't afford to send my Macbook in.
    Please Help!
    =(

Now, on top of all of this, I have to jiggle the headphone switch around to even get full sound; otherwise sound only comes out of one side
    Someone please help
I can neither afford to call Apple, or afford to send my computer in
And it's been a little over a year since I've had it
This is seriously horrible, horrible customer service
    I'm extremely disappointed
I've never been rough with my macbook. I take the headphone plug out one day and this happens
    Please help!!!

  • Pear 9105 RED Light and the Empty Battery Chargin Sign

THe last call i disconneted happened to be the last call.
    THe phone refuese to start.
When connected to the BB charger the red light comes on steady for about 10 seconds and off
After about 5 seconds the battery charging sign comes on remains...
I tried to reinstall the OS
But the desktop fails to reconnect  to the JVM after the up date and then en error on the desktops says failed to reconnect at this time the phone still shows the Battery charging sign
One interesting observation here would be that when i open the Apploader or even the device manager for that matter my BB pin is listed there..
THe device is 2 years old and this is the first ever issue.
I tried the usual deep charging.... battery removal and stuff.....
    Any help would be appriciated

OK...please try this on a PC (you cannot do this on MAC):
    1) Make sure you have a current and complete backup of your BB...you can find complete instructions via the link in my auto-sig below. (moot in your situation)
    2) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages
    3) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed
    http://us.blackberry.com/software/desktop.html
    4) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
It is sorted first by carrier -- so if all you want are the OS levels your carrier supports, your search will be quick. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To truly seek out the most up-to-date OS package for your BB, you must dig through and find all carriers that support your specific model BB, and then compare the OS levels that they support.
    5) Delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
Now try again these tricks (I gave you all 3 before, but you only mentioned that you tried one of them). If any of these instructions state to use an Update Website or something, please substitute the Desktop Software, as installed above, and/or LOADER.EXE as applicable to the method:
KB10144 How to force the detection of the BlackBerry smartphone using Application Loader
KB27956 How to recover a BlackBerry smartphone from any state
    http://crackberry.com/blackberry-101-lecture-12-how-reload-operating-system-nuked-blackberry
Do of course be aware that if there is some sort of hardware fault, then no amount of information we can give you can help...by continuing to try different things, you can rule in/out various software/OS level causes, but there is no way to truly diagnose a hardware problem. Only an in-hand evaluation by a qualified hardware technician can give you that type of diagnosis.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Someone who can help me please. I have a Ipod Shuffle 4th generation and it gives me a red light and i cant use it. What i have to do?

It give me red light for 3 seconds and Itunes and my computer dont reconize my ipod and i dont know what to do

Did this shuffle previously work with this computer, and does not now for some reason?  Or is this the first time you are using this shuffle with this computer?
If the computer is a laptop, connect its power adapter, so that it is not running on battery power.
As as test, shut down (power off) the computer, and disconnect all USB devices (you can leave standard keyboard/mouse connected if used).  Do this to Reset the shuffle
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1655
Start up the computer, run iTunes, and connect the shuffle to a direct USB port on the computer, by itself.

  • HT4059 what does the red light and 'not in store' mean

What does the red light in manage my books mean? And what does 'not in store mean'?

    Hello Simon,
I believe you have two unrelated problems. The red light is only associated with the digital audio port and indicates the "mute" switch inside the jack that turns off the built-in speakers when phones are in use has jammed in the mute position. No way it should affect your ability to start the computer. That has to be something else.
Does your computer give the normal startup chime sounds when you turn it on?
If you are getting the normal startup chime and have a wired keyboard, boot while pressing the SHIFT key. Keep holding the SHIFT key until you get a desktop, then let go the key. At this point, do not try to do any work with the computer but rather see if it will restart normally (without holding any keys or key combos).

  • Red light and nothing else

    Hi all,
I bought the BBZ30 2 days ago, everything was working fine and then I got an alert for a software update. During the update my phone switched itself off and all that is happening now is the red flashing light and nothing on the screen. The phone was fully charged prior to the update and I can't switch it back on. It has been like this for 12 hours.
    Please help.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h process, your BB must remain directly connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB, not a cradle):
Connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
Force a reboot by holding the up/down arrow keys together for at least one minute
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
If this fails, then somehow the OS update became corrupt during the process, and you will need to attempt a very forceful method of installing an OS to your device...AutoLoader:

Hopefully it will succeed. Good luck and let us know!

  • Red Light To Dead iPod

My friend's iPod shffle turned red when it was turned on. It was shut off and turned back on and then the light was green and worked fine. 20 min. later while playing a song it completely died and refused to turn on. They have tried a restore and they have the current software. It was purchased 3 months ago. This happened with their last shuffle (same symptoms same ipod)(a 2nd gen 1gb) after a year. Is there a way to fix this? Or do they need a new shuffle?

Based on what you described I would first say a battery charging issue (from status lights in the manual). A problem charging could be related to a number of issues such as bad battery pack, bad dock connection, bad cable, etc.
I just fixed a 2nd gen Shuffle for a friend. At power on it displayed red light then wouldn't power up. When attempting to connect to the computer it would not show up in iTunes. When I tested the unit and dock I found the jack on the dock was damaged.

  • IPod shuffle just flashes a red light and won't charge

Hello, I have an ipod shuffle 4th generation. It was a gift from my mom seven months ago, it was working fine until yesterday. It won't chanrge, I have tried with another charger, tried on all the usb port of my computer and the wall outlet and nothing I used it a lot to work since I ride my bike to it. When I connect it, it just flashes a solid red light for 3-5 seconds and that's it.
Can you please help me? I really love my ipod and honestly need the music for my ride to work and since I work in a call center I use there to since I am chat. Thak you in advance, cheers from Panama

  • Drowned iphone caused red light and mirrored image

Long story short: iphone in bucket left to dry for weeks. Now it will start but not charge properly. Planning on changing the battery so thats no biggie. Worse is the fact that the picture is mirrored or flipped and there is a small red indicator light just above the speaker that is lit...
Tried restoring the firmware to latest version but problem persists. Has anyone seen anything like this? I live overseas so apple repair is not an option... what can be done?

    Dear Nathan,
Thanks for your answer. It might be amber though for me is clerly red. I might be a little daltonic. Should it be blinking amber, what do I have to do? I tried to turn it on by pressin the button for some seconds and it didn't work out. It has been set in the dock for the last 6 hours and it has not changed neither the blinking nor the colour (be it red or amber).
    Don't know what to do.
    Thanks again,
    Juan

  • Blinking red light and wont connect to bb desktop?! ! !

    maybe im doing something wrong..
    ive held the button(s) ,,
if i could just get it to sync with desktop id be fine
    please help thanks!

Read the technical support pages for your router model. There is an article on the blinking power light somewhere. It describes in detail how to load a new firmware to the router using tftp. Try this procedure.
If it fails try to do what I have posted here.
