RED LIGHT / BATTERY PROBLEM

My blackberry has recently been unable to charge up. I bought a new battery yesterday and all I am seeing is just a red light turning on and off. Please help as I really want to get my blackberry torch up and running

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
Remove the battery
Wait 15 minutes
Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain an known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem. Note that, while rare, a "new" battery certainly can be defective...the best (and least expensive) test method is to find someone with an identical BB who has no issues...trade batteries and see what happens.
Good luck and let us know!

  • 6000 posts and no fix.. RED X battery on screen

The red X battery problem has been around for years now and Blackberry dont provide a fix for it. They wonder why stock market prices drop and people shift to Apple. Its a software problem but they keep saying battery, which is total BS

If it's a software problem, reloading the OS with BlackBerry Desktop Software should resolve the issue. Keep in mind that the Storm is years old and BlackBerry has improved greatly since then. You'd probably be best to drop your Storm in favor of a BB10 phone like the Q10 or the Z30.
    Cheers.

  • Pear 9105 RED Light and the Empty Battery Chargin Sign

THe last call i disconneted happened to be the last call.
    THe phone refuese to start.
When connected to the BB charger the red light comes on steady for about 10 seconds and off
After about 5 seconds the battery charging sign comes on remains...
I tried to reinstall the OS
But the desktop fails to reconnect  to the JVM after the up date and then en error on the desktops says failed to reconnect at this time the phone still shows the Battery charging sign
One interesting observation here would be that when i open the Apploader or even the device manager for that matter my BB pin is listed there..
THe device is 2 years old and this is the first ever issue.
I tried the usual deep charging.... battery removal and stuff.....
    Any help would be appriciated

OK...please try this on a PC (you cannot do this on MAC):
    1) Make sure you have a current and complete backup of your BB...you can find complete instructions via the link in my auto-sig below. (moot in your situation)
    2) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages
    3) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed
    http://us.blackberry.com/software/desktop.html
    4) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
It is sorted first by carrier -- so if all you want are the OS levels your carrier supports, your search will be quick. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To truly seek out the most up-to-date OS package for your BB, you must dig through and find all carriers that support your specific model BB, and then compare the OS levels that they support.
    5) Delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
Now try again these tricks (I gave you all 3 before, but you only mentioned that you tried one of them). If any of these instructions state to use an Update Website or something, please substitute the Desktop Software, as installed above, and/or LOADER.EXE as applicable to the method:
KB10144 How to force the detection of the BlackBerry smartphone using Application Loader
KB27956 How to recover a BlackBerry smartphone from any state
    http://crackberry.com/blackberry-101-lecture-12-how-reload-operating-system-nuked-blackberry
Do of course be aware that if there is some sort of hardware fault, then no amount of information we can give you can help...by continuing to try different things, you can rule in/out various software/OS level causes, but there is no way to truly diagnose a hardware problem. Only an in-hand evaluation by a qualified hardware technician can give you that type of diagnosis.
Good luck and let us know!

  • A strange flashing red light problem on the 8100.

    Blackberry Pearl 8100
Problem: Usually after using it for the first time after several hours of non-use it will shut off unexpectedly, flash me the red light twice, and then allow me to turn it back on to a long load up. Battery power is fine. No data loss. No unexpected behavior beyond that.
    Should I wipe it?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

I have never seen or heard of a 2008 shipping with, or supporting, 512MB DIMMs, I guess you may try, but then those would be the slower 667MHz FBDIMMs probably, and not 800MHz.
It would have shipped with 2 x 1GB with one on each Riser, but then to install a full set, move one, and install pairs on a Riser.
People have had bad memory show with half its correct amount.

  • STUCK on white screen with battery icon in the middle with RED LIGHT

I have BB curve 8900 and my BB shutdown by itself yesterday and it wont start on again !
so i charged it the red LED start to show and white screen with battery icon in the middle it looks like empty battery, and stuck on it and sometimes it keeps spinning over and over again until it bcome black screen then it starts the same begining !
I tried the hard boot by taking the battery out for sometime and reinstalled it but it didn't work. I even try putting a different battery (friends battery) but still no joy..
and the main catch is if i try taking out the battery and plug the charger or connects it to the laptop it does the same thing without even any battery in it.
So is it really a Battery problem or the OS problem.?? (If its a OS problem, can u install it myself at home.?
    Waiting for the reply
    Thanks

if it does not boot then..??
Well, you need to do as suggested first.
Then, if not: If your BlackBerry stays powered off with a black screen, follow the instructions below. The only indication of life might be the blinking red LED light in the top corner. Nothing seems to wake it up and Desktop Manager doesn't recognize any device is connected.
    1) Make sure you have Blackberry Desktop Manager installed.
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/
    2) On your PC, go to Start > Run and copy and paste the following line exactly (meaning with the quotation marks):
    "c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader\loader.exe" /nojvm
    3) The Application Loader Wizard will appear -- click "Next."
    4) In the "Connection:" drop-down menu, you should see "USB-PIN: UNKNOWN". Click the "Next" button.
    5) You should then see a list of applications ready to be installed for your Blackberry. Hit Next and Finish and you are well on your way to getting your Blackberry back to life. Congrats! Just don't disconnect anything and let the lengthy process finish completely.
NOTE: If you do not see a list of applications mentioned in step 5 and instead see the message "The Blackberry Desktop Software does not have Blackberry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator," then you must download Blackberry's Operating System for your carrier and device.
    http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/BlackBerry_Operating_System_Downloads
Just select the appropriate carrier and network type, select your Blackberry model from the list and download the latest version. Install this download and follow the above steps again and you should be on the right path.

  • Belgian Problem : Four Red Lights

    Hello everyone,
I think the "Four Red Lights on D-Bracket" problem is back...  ;(
I have been running a MSI KT3 Ultra with an Athlon XP 1700+ (0,18 µm) coupled with a Thermaltake Volcano 7+ for months now without any problems.
But yesterday my system hung after a few minutes work. As it was the FIRST one I got with this card, I was a little bit surprised but finally thought this could happen even to the best ones...
I simply rebooted but then had to realize there was going wrong with it. My system hangs during the initialisation of my SCSI devices... strange... really strange. I powered off my computer, wait a few minutes and restarted it. And guess what? Black screen with 4 red lights on D-Bracket.
I read the manual and found out that my CPU was wrong. That's really strange because I did not modify anything (no overclocking by the way!)...
I tried to find out what the problem could be by removing unnecessary components (like SCSI adapter card, sound card, network card,...), by clearing CMOS (after I read this nice forum), by re-installing my CPU (with fresh thermal compound) but did not resolve the problem
Another evidence that my system was correctly installed was the temperature I got during the past months : about 38°C
Do you think my motherboard simply died?  8o
    Thanks for your help

I've experienced the four red led lights too. It happened right after I changed the BIOS settings for my CPU internal timing from 'Normal' to 'Ultra'. After I saved the setting, my monitor went blank.
I finally solved it after 2 days. I tried multiple times in clearing the Bios to no avail (5x). So even though MSI says the four led lights is because of a 'damaged or mis-installed proc' it's sometimes not the case.
    1. I unplugged the power cable from the PSU
    2. I took out the CMOS battery
    3. I put the jumper on 'clear' bios.
I went to work for a 10 hour period.
When I got back home, I did the steps below per a forum post I read at work.
    4. I press and held the case 'Reset' button for about 30 secs (supposely, it would drain the capacitors)
    5. Then I set the Bios jumper back to normal setting.
    6. Then I press the 'Reset' button for about 20 more secs.
    7. I put the CMOS battery back in.
    8. I plugged the power cable backup and crossed my fingers.
I booted up and I still saw four led lights, then the lower right one changed to green and I knew I was in business.
My theory is that somehow, the Bios still retained the 'Turbo' settings when I set the jumpers to clear the Bios multiple times. I think over the period of one day w/ out the battery the BIOS made have defaulted back to the normal settings and/or the addition pressing the reset button drained the capacitor and reset the BIOS.
Sorry the post is so long, but I'm just want to share my experience.

From your statements above, it sounds like you never tried to burn a CD for at least the first year that you owned the laptop, as it had a one year warranty on it. While you might have used it frequently to install software,  play DVDs, Blu-Ray disks, etc, that's unclear from your statements. Nonetheless, it might just be dirty-dusty. So, before deleting-uninstalling any software, and given they're cheap, try a CD-DVD Cleaner Disk first and see if that resolves your problems.
Let us know what happens. Good luck.

  • I've got a mac pro problem with the starting up, but also a red light on the logic board solidly on. Its not among the diagnostic led. It's located near the BT adapter and the front fans. Also the fans run loud also. any solutions?

    Hi
I've got a mac pro late 2006, and i am having problem with it for quite a while now. the problem i am facing is the start up process, and the red light on the logic board. Earlier I've got the two led on the diagnostic leds 5 and 6 turned on without the diagnostic button being pressed, and i think those are related to the processors overtemp. I've managed to solve that by, removing the processors and re applying the thermal compound on the heatsink. what i have left now with is the red light on  the logic board at the time i plugged in the power. At the same time when this light come on, the power indicator at the front panel come on as well. i am not sure what is this light relates to. We've replace the power supply too, and gone through the SMC reset but seems no help.
Any idea on the problem? I am desperate about it, and i will be greatful if anyone can help..
thanks and hope for your best solutions
    Kari

  • Red light problem 8900

I forgot my password on my phone last week, and i lost all my contacts and that on my phone, since then the red light has stopped working so it doesnt flash when i get messages or emails, the only thing i have yet to set backup on my blackberry is my emails but i can't see this making a difference so that my red light comes on! is there anyway i can get my red light back on? or will it need repairing or something? thanks for your help!

In your profiles > advanced > active profile, make certain that your email settings include for the LED notification to be on.
If it is set on, you can always do a reboot: With the BlackBerry device powered ON, remove the battery a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to reboot.

  • Red light problem

I have a red light coming from my headphone jack. In the sound output, the only thing there shows optical digital output, though nothing is there. It started when I dropped the computer, and now the internal sound will not work. I tried to spin the toothpick around, and the red light would turn off for a few seconds, then it would flicker back on. This has happened about 5 or 6 times, so Im not sure if Im doing something wrong or if its a bigger problem.
    Thanks!

Please make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service. The red light is related to the optical digital output.

try inserting and removing the headphones in and out of the audio jack.  The toggle switch is stuck and your mac thinks the headphones are still plugged in.
