  • Battery wont charge at high loads all of a sudden?!

ANy help here would be appriciates, asap! thanks:P
All of a sudden, as of today, my battery wont charge when the mbp is under a high load. I thought it was just not charging (was not charging in wow) and then realised as soon as i quit, it started to charge again. SO i ran 2 yes > /dev/null to test, and all of a sudden it stopped charging and the magsafe light went to green... (at 25%) as soon as i stopped one of hte processes, abck to orange, charging... started a 2nd up, stopped charging and started to use the battery again.
Does ANYONE have any idea what is going on? i know macbooks can't cahrge under high loads, however, im on a MBP and it has never happened until this evening. Any ideas guys? could it be the bettery somehow, actual computer short not letting it get enough power.... anything? 3 month old mbp (3rd one, first two never had a problem, nor this until tonight)
callign apple in morning, but hoping to resolve before since the closest store is hrs away.. thanks!
    james

    Hey,
I've actually used yes to test it ( yes > /dev/null) in console to mac the cores, its standard on all systems. They've sent em a new power supply saying it sounds like 'it isnt getting all the current' basically, which, seems rather odd. it ONLY started after the keyboard update, as if the new firmware ***** more power ot eh usb hub and it just pushed it over.. maybe my magsafe was always busted nto working properly, but it's always worked for me.. I have a feeling i'm gonna be going into the store an hr away this weekend :/
Had a friend who has NOT ran the update try, and at full loads he still charge fine, unplugged with it running to drain battery a bit, plugged in and it went ot charge, i tried again and it goes green and wont charge at a heavy load Oh, yea, and my laptop wont go on w/o battery and plugged in.. like it's not getting the full 85w, or.. somethign is toasted on my actual laptop. CCC here i come for a drive clone tonight! heh

  • My ipod touch 2g 8gb has no battery, wont charge on my pc or on my outlet 220W, and it wont turn on.

My ipod touch 2g 8gb has no battery, wont charge on my pc (Hp Pavilion g6 intel Pentium 2.2Ghz, 2 gb) or on my outlet 220W, and it wont turn on. What should I do?

    Hi there fCdawg123!
I have an article here that can address this issue for you and give you some further troubleshooting steps:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802
As you may note, this article was written for the iPhone, but the steps for troubleshooting will be the same for your iPod touch. This is the section that I believe will help you the most with this issue:
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 15 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
Take care, and thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities.

    Hi
I think the new battery should be tested but before doing this be sure that you use the latest BIOS
I means either its battery issue or notebooks power supply electronic issue and before the notebooks hardware would be checked, the notebook should be tested using new good working battery.

  • My sons macbook 13 when I plug in to charge battery wont charge even after I bought new adaptor pug

how to fix my sons battery  wont charge in fact when you plug it in . The macbook does not show it is plugged in.  Does anyone know how to fix this problem.  I even got a new plug adaptor.  and It does not even show that it is plugged in, this is a brand new issue.  Anyone have an answer to fix this.

Try doing a SMC RESET and see if that sorts it out.
Also inspect your power port to see if dirt has accumulated.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain directly connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB, not a cradle):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    Remove the battery
    Wait 15 minutes
    Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain an known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem. Note carefully please that "new" and "know good" are not necessarily the same things. While rare, a "new" battery certainly could be defective. Rather, the simplest (and least costly, btw) method to conduct this test is to find someone with an identical BB who has no issues...trade batteries and see what happens.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Red light blinks while charging

I am having the same problem as this fellow here:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/996781?start=0&tstart=0
But I am nowhere near an Apple Store. How should I proceed. Is there really no solution for this thing? I have used it for just two days!
I am terribly disappointed to see that these iPod shuffles have this sort of problem. I had no idea they were so crappy.

There are two parts to what the shuffle's light is telling you.
The flashing part means Do Not Disconnect.  If you Eject the iPod (using the small button next to the shuffle in iTunes) and leave it connected, it should no longer flash.  So flashing or not flashing is not related to the battery or charging.
The red part means the battery level is currently very low.  If it does not change to amber (and green), that means the battery is not charging normally.
Make sure you have a good USB connection.  If you are connecting it to a USB hub (instead of a direct connection to the computer), it may not be receiving enough power to charge.  Also, too many USB devices connected at the same time can overload the computer's USB bus, so if there are other USB devices connected to the computer, try it with everything else disconnected (except for standard keyboard and mouse).
You can also try doing a Restore in iTunes.  Select the shuffle in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES.  Over to the right, go to the Summary tab.  The Restore button is there.  This will erase the shuffle, re-install its software, and set it to default settings.  If a software or settings glitch is causing this problem, a Restore should fix it.

If you have access to another MagSafe (any MagSafe will do, even a different wattage), try it out. If that other MagSafe works, then replace your power cord. If that MagSafe does not, you will have to have your MacBook serviced to replace the defective power source on the motherboard.

  • Kernel_task 336% usage and Battery wont charge (MacBook Air 2012medio 11")

    Hi Apple fans.
I've a one year old MacBook Air, 2012 Medio 11" 1.7ghz Intel Core 5, 4GB ram, Intel Graphics 4000 - and Mountoun Lion installed.
The problem is, that its awfully slow. It startet last week, where I bootet up normally, and saw the Battery didnt't charged (x as battery indicator). And even worse the general state of the machine is VERY slow. Everything is working with severe lagging - even just typing in Safari browser... like you type GOOGLE.COM and it enters it after nearly 20 sec.
I've narrow it through Activity Monitor to KERNEL_TASK using 336% usage (dont ask why its not 100% ;-). Rendering it absolutly uselsess. The Screen is darkend, behaps because the Kernel is taking on all CPU usage, rendering nothing left so maybe the MacBook Air auto goes into this mode, for protecting. The fan is not hammering, so it appears to work fine.
I've tried Once doing the SMC reset. It actually worked seeing the battery getting charged. But next day same problem, and now the trick of SMC wont work again!.
    What to do?
I havent tried NVRAM reset or even SAFE MODE (that is my trick for tomorrow), but are there any order you should do this (ex. Safe Mode first, then SMC reset, then NVRAM reset)? Do you have to do a SMC reset several times before it works?
Hope anybody can help me out?
    Regards, Thomas

If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.)
