Red light constantly on my nokia 5800

right my 5800 has a few problems
firstly it wont unlock unless if i mash the middle button to open the main screen then unlock
my wifi doesnt connect to anything
the screen is constantly dark even though it has its brightness turned to the maximum
if it runs out of battery i have to mash the xpress music button all the time so it vibrates and turns on
and most annoying of all the red camera light is constantly on even though the camera isnt
just wondering really does any one know why this red light is constantly on and is the fixing of this the answer to all my problems ??

Try a reset and format of the phone back up first as this wipes all data and settings .
When you restore do not restore settings .
*#7780# - Restore factory settings - resets all the settings to the default ( you will not lose any data)
That fails

You could try a factory settings reset.
Menu > Settings > Phone > Phone mgmt.> Factory settings > Yes > Enter the security/lock code and OK.
(the Nokia's default security code is 12345)

Nokia 5800 blue has red themes is this right ?

Hi i hope someone can help - we bought my son a nokia 5800 last week in blue - the screen themes are all in red and they should be blue . Has anyone else encountered this problem ,and if so what can we do about it ?

this was mentioned some time ago when it was released first /the only answer was that the wrong cover was put on the phone as far as i remember there is nothing to worry about ,you can try updating firmware or get themes for it here

After giving up on finding a hack to turn off the red light, I instead placed tape over the red light so that it's not a distraction to people I'm recording or photographing. It is extremely bright.
I'm wondering does that effect autofocus in any way?

when i try to open themes changer the the mobile screen light on and off then restart
all dine but the proplem in the themes only
can any body help me plz
i tried to updat the phone software the program say your phone sotware the last verison

You could try a hard reset by pressing "Green", "Red" and "Camera" button at once during power up of the phone, which will erase all the data, but it could solve your problem!

Things I found are missing in nokia 5800 Express M...

Tsup guys, I`m having this new release of nokia s60 5th edition (Nokia 5800 Express Music) but since I bought it last month I`ve started discover some features are not working as I always used to see them to my previous handset (Nokia n73-1). At my previous nokia n73 when I`m on playing music that I`ve store in my handset and then the I receive the sms message its only makes a light beep sound even if I`m on profile that setted another alter tune for sms but in this nokia 5800 when sms comes in the middle of track playback its pause for a time from plyaing the song then start ring the current profile`s sms alter tune then keep on playing the track. On the side of adding sms recipients, if your forwading an sms to more than one person then you`ve started adding recipients by either searching or scrolling you might face some of the contacts doesn`t appear in your list after adding some others even if you do it by search contacts for typing the first alphabets of the recipients you are searching. So in order to get them you`ve to select OK then select the ADD RECIPIENTS again then you will find the contacts that were not seen before. Lastly, on the message writing. When I use the HANDWRITING style, I can write my things well but still up to know I`ve not yet find the area where I can erase the words that I`ve wrotes. Instead I`m supposed to change the keyboard type so as I can get the erease key. Can anybody help me to locate where can I find the erease key when I`m in mode of HANDWRITING style that uses a given special touch-screen pencil. I`m using it which means I`II keep discover many more things that seems these nokia have lack in this model & if there is anybody else found something please don`t hesitate to contribute here too. I have Nokia 5800, version 10.0.010 04/11/2008, User version 10.0.010.205.01, Language 05 (Russia).
Wearing has some errors:
1. In the built in Internet browser at mapping number from a floating point, the fractional part is not displayed. For example number 16.75 is displayed as 16. On the personal computer all displayed normally. If it is necessary, I can send a screen shot.
2. Photo the camera. The white balance in pictures is not correctly installed. The photo has shades yellow or blue. Basically it appears at shooting indoors and not depends, what lighting - natural/fluorescent lamp/heating lamp.
3. Customizations of the camera after an out from a shooting mode are not saved.
Suggestions:
1. The Camera. To make operative customization of balance white on a leaf of a white paper.
2. The Camera. To make saving of customizations of the camera and restoring to standard customizations.
4. Small lamp (lantern). To add the application "Lantern" on flash light-emitting diodes. Modes: to switch on/off and shine 1 minute.
5. Keyboard layout. Very often at text writing it is necessary to switch from Russian to English. Switching through the menu is not convenient. It is necessary to make switching in one click by the additional button on the virtual keyboard. For fast switching each user should set a “Set of Languages”.
6. To add the application allowing to store various notices in enciphered mode - passwords, codes, numbers of credit cards. For example application “HandySafePro_S60_Touch” .

Nokia Maps v.3.01 doesnt show my current location!! I have 5800XM, my old nokia maps (V2) showed my location on the map. and when i upgraded my firmwire to 31.0.008, this V3 maps came with it and it continued to show my old saved location which was saved last by maps v2 (faded red dot).!!!
help please...
google maps finds my location within seconds but nokia maps 3 cant.. horrible. is there any way to go back to maps v2?

Nokia 5800 screen issue!!help!

hey guys,i bought my nokia 5800 somewhere in december last year.and a couple of days ago,i began to realize that there were moving vertical lines across the screen.the lines are most visible when my light sensor(intensity) settings is set at 75%.it only came to my attention when i hard resetted my phone 2 days ago and the intensity settings was reverted to its default 75%(i've kept it customized at 25% until 2 days ago).the moving vertical lines are less visible in darker backgrounds and at a lower light intensity.i was just wondering-is this normal??has anyone been experiencing this?is there a fix to this?
p/s:this issue is different compared to the previous 'slider+screen lines' issue. the moving lines on my screen is constantly present.locking and unlocking the phone bears no effect whatsoever on the lines.

I think I am having the same issue as yourself, it just started recently and I just bought it in April. As you stated this is not the other common screen issue where after unlocking the phone those bars show up across the screen. These are thin lines that cant be seen from far away, it is only when you look closely that they become obvious (they just keep moving vertically across the screen). I have a pure black theme on and I cannot notice them but when I use a lighter theme or use any application with any other color it becomes very apparent.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Nokia 5800 Screen Surround

Hello, I wondered if you could help me. I got my Nokia 5800 last Saturday, love it so far, however I was a passenger in a car last night and they took a sharp turn, my phone was on my lap and it went sliding down in between the seat and the dash. Anyway its scratched the surround type thing around the screen. I wondered if there was anywhere I could get a replacement or could a shop like 'Dog n Bone' replace it?

Nokia 5800 express music monitor "screen" problem

hi all,
i've a nokia 5800 device and i've faced a very serious problem:
when i lock the phone and unlock it the monitor or screen dont appear as previous normally, instead of that shaked colored lines appear, so i can't see who is calling. But the touch is working normally so i can play music or answer calls but without knowing who is calling.
if i switch the phone off then switch it on i see the the screen normally, and when it locked then unlocked the same problem appears again.
i've tried to solve the problem by formatting the device but it is no use

I've been having a very similar problem with my nokia 5800 expressmusic.
it started off like yours but then the screen went fully black.
the green, white and red buttons at the bottom work so does the small touch button at the top right.. those lights always come on when i unlock the phone so they're fine.
I know that my phone is still working because i was randomly touching the screen when the phone was unlocked (even though i cannot see anything on it) and i ended up calling somebody. my only problem is that i cannot see the screen at all!!
i've tired turning my phone off, taking out sim and memory cards, putting different sims in and charging it.
nothing works!!
is there anything i can do?
can anybody help me with this?
or is my phone just past its 'use by' date?

I posted this in the nokia 5800 problems topic but it actually wasn't a problem and also it got ignored. So I decided to post it in a new topic.
I just bought this phone 4 days ago and I am in total love with it Now the pros of this phone are too much to list but there are a few cons which slight bugged me.I have version11.0.008 from the begining and have not faced a single problem - no lag , no peculiar behaviour Now I have a few queries that I was hoping to get answered on.
1. Is it possible to add more stuff below the Search word in the Shortcut bar theme. Maybe a Calendar memo reminder or anything. I already know of the music now playing bar that comes there during tracks but other than that are there nothing else to be done?
2. Is there any way to use the 2nd camera?
3. In the silent mode , for some odd reason I might have missed a call ( i.e did not feel the vibration ) Now is there a option to turn on so that the phone will emit little vibrations after a period of time to remind me or notify me of a miss call? I have this on my razrv3i so missing it now The menu button just flickrs on off to notify of the missed call but is there no way to know I have a miss call without taking out the phone from the case and looking at it?
4. I heard theres a new update to v11.0.009 - But my NSU doesn't show it . I was wondering is it that necessary to update to this firmwire at this moment? I live in Bangladesh.
Thats about it The 5800 is a exta ordinary phone and I have not regretted my purchase yet and have no hope of doing so. It costed me around 272.74 Euros. The price to quality ratio is mind bogling

1. The Calender memo will show by itself if you have any entry made in the Calender.. It will come up as "Next Entry on ..." a few days in advance and the Actual details a day before...
2. Open Camera application.. Goto Options -- > Use secondary camera..
3. There are 3rd party applications like T-Reminder for this.. It has options of Sound/Light/Vibration reminders for missed calls / SMSs / other events at user defined interval...
4. Firmware versions are different for different regions.. Connect the phone thru' OVI Suit to a computer and check for the latest available for your phone.It says that version upgrade is for good but there are newer complains associated with them. So its up to you whether to take that risk or not.. If you are satisfied with the current version so be it..

Problem with Nokia 5800 Xpress Music

Hello. I have a Nokia 5800 Xpress Music for about a year now and been taking great care of it. I don't know why but a while ago it started freezing at times when i would try to turn on the camera..had to multiple times restart the phone and remove the battery in order to make it work (In the open applications menu it would show the camera running but you wouldn't be able to use it). Then i noticed that the two touch buttons it has in the main screen (dialing and phonebook shortcuts) wont work either, no matter how many times i press them nothing happens. Same goes for the Green and Red button on the left and the right side of the phone (Accept/Decline buttons), they won't work either when i'm on the main screen (wallpaper), they do work in the main menu though. I tried resetting my phone to manufacturer settings but nothing happened. What is wrong with my phone? Can anybody help me with it very please?

When you say restored "factory settings" I don't know whether you mean that you backed up essential data then keyed in *#7370# followed by 12345 (default Nokia lock code unless altered by yourself); I would remove any memory card first and see if any difference before restoring device.

Nokia 5800 - keep screen on when charging?

Is there a way to keep the screen of the Nokia 5800 turned on when the phone is plugged into a charger. This functionality was available on many older generation (non-Symbian) Nokia phones, but I can't find such a setting on the 5800.
Similarly, it would be useful to have a way to keep the phone unlocked when it is plugged into a charger.

Nokia 5800 missing personal files on memory card

Good day everyone!
I have a problem with my new nokia 5800. A month ago, i lost some of my pictures, which are saved in my memory card. I just ignore it thinking that somebody from my frends just deleted it. After a week, all of the videos, which i took, were all missing.. I was so **bleep** of. A while ago, an application that i downloaded from the net was also lost.. Im so frustrated about this.. Please kindly help me on this one.

this seems to be a problem of a common virus as the 5800 is generally doing well except for some performance hogs.
@chan chan, there is absolutely no use when you use a PC antivirus to kill a 5800 symbian's virus. there are s60 antivirus out there, but i recommend you do a hard-reset of your phone by holding
"green" + "red" + "camera key"(full press) all simultaenously while powering on the device.do not leave the power key also till u see "NOKIA" on the screen.before doing this, remove the memory card from the phone and format it on the PC.after the phone starts factory-fresh, insert the formatted card.it should work fine now.also update to the latest v31 firmware.
remember to backup your contacts and other phone-memory data as hard reset wipes-clean all data, but do not use the "backup phone" option as it uses memory card.better sync contacts with other phone or PC

Nokia 5800 menu problem

I have a problem with my nokia 5800. A red menu bar keeps flashing up intermittently rendering all other functions useless. i have tried cleaning the screen but it still keeps doing it. any suggestions before i throw it out the window as its driving me mad!
