Red Light On Next to Verizon Logo

I have a steady Red light on my Incredible 2 next to the Verizon logo. Had this phone over 2 years - never saw this light before, nor can I find ANYWHERE what the heck this means. I've tried resetting. Also, battery is draining very quickly. This came on suddenly.

KinquanaH_VZW what in the world would the charging port have to do with the proximity sensor?  Not to mention other chargers and outlets?  Like I suggested to lasinah_vzw please read the OP thoroughly before attempting to answer a question.  The OP clearly states that the light is to the LEFT of the Verizon logo, whereas the notification light (which blinks orange when the battery is low, and is solid orange when the device is charging) is in the speaker grill, to the RIGHT side of the phone.  I also find this disturbing that I have already addressed this and you also make the same incorrect suggestion.

I have a Samsung Network Extender, model SCS-2U01, and for the past two weeks, the SYS light has gone from solid blue to a blinking red light, disconnecting me from my business calls. In reading the forums, it was mentioned that Verizon had to reset something on their end to fix the issue. Would you be able to confirm if something needs to be reset to fix the issue? Thank you!

First, try the normal stuff: power cycle your modem, router, and NE allowing time for each component to stabilize before turning on the next in sequence modem > router > NE. If necessary, try resetting your modem and router. If it still doesn’t work verify it is listed in MyVerizon and then calling Verizon Wireless Customer Service at (800) 922-0204. Good luck!

From your statements above, it sounds like you never tried to burn a CD for at least the first year that you owned the laptop, as it had a one year warranty on it. While you might have used it frequently to install software,  play DVDs, Blu-Ray disks, etc, that's unclear from your statements. Nonetheless, it might just be dirty-dusty. So, before deleting-uninstalling any software, and given they're cheap, try a CD-DVD Cleaner Disk first and see if that resolves your problems.

  • Red light next to secondary cam in C7

Hello! The other day I found a red light in the front of my C7, almost next to the secondary camera. Tried to find sth about it in the users guide, but nothing, just a picture showing the cam but not the other two "holes" (the left one being a red lignt sometimes). As I don't know what's for, I can't know if the red light was ok or there was a problem. Thanks for your help.
    Regards,

I suppose we are talking about proximity censor or ambient light sensor next to it. No need to worry.

  • Red light logo on Fatal1ty X

OK. Here's the deal. I know what the red light is for?on the Fatalty Sound Blaster. The thing is though, it's really throwing off my mod colors. I know it sounds quite petty, but after spending time and $$$ going for a mostly?green lighted mod, the?red logo is just?not doing it for me. Does anyone know if this light can be disabled or?anything? Any input is welcome and thanks!? <span class="info"><div align="right">

no you can't disable it from software but if you're savvy enough, maybe you can open up that box and even change the red led to green led to suit your casing.

  • HT4528 Why is there a little red light next to my speaker in the front by the camera ?

You see a red light , you see it a lot more in the dark and it fades and comes back and it's right but the speaker underneath the camera in the front .

I mean I'm using it or like texting or anything I don't always have it on my face like a call, and yet it still shows.

  • What does it mean when there is a small red light next to my ear piece?

There is a small circular red light lit up near my ear piece, I've never seen it lit up before and I haven't had my phone wet except for a few drops on the screen that were wiped away shortly after....
What does this mean? I'm freaking out!

It usually means that you may have upgraded the version of OS X to a version with which these apps are incompatible.

  • No startup chime, red light, fans running loud...

yeah, I know that there are other threads with the same topic, but I just wanted to know how common this problem is?
How many people have experienced this?
    What are the common disturbances?
    What is going on?
Why is such an expensive, powerhouse computer become such a puny electronic product because of power issues?
I posted this in another thread but,
    Here's my story:
I am having the same problem.
Now before you start taking advice to back up all your data, reformat your hard drive, and reinstall all the software; please take note of a few things:
first off, I'm ****** that this is happening to me. I spend $5000+ for a "reliable" Apple computer. Then it doesn't want to turn on because its not safe. Sorry if I drown this post with bitter sarcasm but I am coming to the end of the line with my patience.
I called Apple Care, read a bunch of posts (here and elsewhere), and yes I do know about the SMU Reset button (like that really does anything?).
My problem happened a few weeks ago and I thought nothing of it at first. There was a power outage for a quick second and it turned everything off. When I went to turn on my computer, there was no chime, the red light was on, and the fans were running and eventually began running very loud. After letting it run like that in hopes of the screen lighting up, I turned it off by holding the power button. By the way, there's nothing on the screen and the keyboard doesn't work (I use a wireless keyboard, but I plugged in the OG cord keyboard to push whatever series of buttons recommended by these "geniuses") Trust me, the computer doesn't make it to that part of the boot process, so stop with commandoption+PR or F12 to get the CD out. It doesn't work! What's up with this computer! It can handle all these intense calculations, etc. but a power surge is going to shut it down indefinitely.
So I left the computer came back the next day, turned it on and its fine. Cool, I'm happy. It's Working!! I go on a few weeks, then I go to turn it on this Monday, same problem. But actually a worse situation. I had a client come over and the computer wouldn't work. I looked like a idiot. Couldn't do anything cause my computer didn't want to turn on. I do music production/editing. I use my G5 for running ProTools LE. I have other programs but that is the main one I use. There's nothing wrong with it. It's optimized for use with the mac. So those people who are going to advise me to uninstall all my software and all that - I appreciate your concern but don't give advice when you don't know anything!
So I am getting frustrated. My client left a little disappointed, but what can you do? I tried to call AppleCare on Mon. but it was Memorial Day. So I waited for Tues.
Tues morning, my computer turns on like everything is fine.
I'm happy but cautious. I talk to AppleCare rep. He tells me that it is a common problem they have heard about with the G5's. Wherever blackouts, brownouts, spikes, sags, dips, and other electricity inconsistencies occur, the Power Mac G5 has a breaker in it which flips so it doesn't receive uneven power supply and damage internal components.
I like that feature. Good thinking Apple. Protecting my investment from bad electrical grids. But I don't like the fact my computer has a mind of its own where it decides when it wants to boot or when it wants to sit there and run its fans all loud.
I shut down Tues morn to go to work. I come back in the evening, it doesn't want to boot up. Instead of getting angry trying a bunch of times to turn on/turn off the computer, I leave my house all together and go and have a few drinks. I come home ,don't even look at my computer, and go to bed.
I wake up Wed. morning. Go to turn on my computer. Successful boot. It's running. Okay, I think, I'm going to get down to the problem. I read all the logs, not like I know every piece of info, but just to see what's happening. Everything looks fine. I decide to run the AppleCare CD Tech Tool. It says restart holding down C. I do that. When the gray Apple Logo comes up, all this writing about kernals comes up and it tells me to restart or shutdown. I shutdown and attempt to restart, same problem: no chime, red light on, and fans eventually spin loud. Now the CD is stuck in there. I'm going to take it to the Apple Store tomorrow to if these "geniuses" can figure it out.
(Just a side note: Apple calls them geniuses, but its hard for me to think some disconnected college kid with a bad haircut and questionable social skills knows what's up with the power supply issues of a computer; maybe I'm wrong, but you can run your diagnostics and look at the chart of what to do and all that BUT Apple needs to listen to the people)
I am going to get a UPS (uninteruptable power supply) with a clean sine wave output to curb the issue at my end. It's not my fault I live in a area that receives uneven power output. I live in Los Angeles. Summer is starting up and I think its going to be hot, so blackouts, power dips and sags are inevitable. I just don't understand why Apple hasn't considered this problem and fixed it with something:
A recall to change the power supply, Is it something on the logic board?, are they going to reimburse me for lost income (Ha, yeah right)
I really want to know how many people are having this problem?
From what I've heard, it is a common problem.
So I think we need a common solution.
If its so common, it must be the computer. We are all going to live in different areas where the power may vary. Not all of us have the consistent power flow of 1 Infinite Loop in Cupertino, CA. So if it is such a common problem, Apple needs to fix it.
I can't spend more than five grand on a super duper computer and have it wuss out on some power issues.
Its a loss of income and productivity to me.
    I can't have that anymore.
Sometimes my computer turns on, sometimes it doesn't.
I bought my PowerMac G5 in April 2006, its been about a month and a half and I'm having these problems.
    Thank you for your time.
If anyone else has been having this problem, I feel for you.
It was been very difficult for me not to curse in this post, but I have tried to extend the same respect to all that use these discussion boards to create dialogue, find help, and create solutions.

    Power Mac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   Dual 2.3 Ghz / 4.5 GB RAM

Well, you can see my specs below. I have the same problems as you, just worse. I am also running (as I have my previous systems) on an APC Smart-UPS 2200, and it doesn't solve this problem.
I bought my machine last December. In early March (just 2 days before my 90 days of phone support were up), I woke the computer from sleep to check email; about 5 minutes later it just froze. I had to force it down, but it never even got to the startup chime.
Called Apple, bought Apple Care on the spot, spent about 45 minutes on the phone with two levels of support, and Apple couldn't really diagnose the problem. They decided to send out a replacement logic board, processor unit and power supply for on-site service (I don't have an Apple service center nearby).
Nearly two weeks later the technician arrived with the parts, installed all of them, and - nothing. The system still exhibited the same symptoms as before the repair. He spent around five hours here, most of it on the phone with Apple. They decided that the processor unit they shipped was defective, so they sent another processor unit.
Nearly another two weeks later, the re-replacement processor unit arrived with the tech. He installed it, and everything worked. This was around April 1.
Fast forward to last Wednesday. Arrived home from work, tried to wake the Mac. Nothing happened. Had to force the machine off. Never booted again. Called Apple and went through the motions again. They're sending another logic board, processor unit, and power supply.
I asked about having the machine replaced since this will be the third repair attempt, considering it took two visits and nearly a month to repair it the first time it died. Apple was unwilling to replace it but I was told that if I had another failure, a replacement would be in the cards.
I agree with you about needing reliability in a computer as expensive as a Power Mac. It is not acceptable to have this kind of failure, repeatedly, with this kind of system. If my Windows PC has a hardware failure, I can take care of it myself. A top-end power supply is ~$200, a quality system board is ~$200-$300 - all very doable, and in very little time, if the need arises. A Power Mac logic board is ~$1K, a cpu module is well over $1K, who knows how much that crappy power supply costs, etc. If you have Apple Care, you face the kinds of downtime I'm having to deal with. A month without use of your computer. I mean, if I buy a Dell workstation, or an HP workstation, and pay an extra $200-$300 for service and something fails, Unisys will be here the next day and it will be fixed. That's the standard business class service experience you get from those companies with a computer that costs $600, much less the $3000+ you dish out for a Quad Power Mac. Apple's response is unacceptable.
It's a good thing I have kept my Windoze machine around, cause it's really saved my butt the last 2-3 months; that also makes me really sad, because in the last 6-7 years of Power Mac ownership I've had zero problems with any of them. My dad has my previous machine, a Rev A Dual 2.0 G5, and it's rock solid.
I sure hope that the Intel based Power Mac replacement doesn't suffer from what ever seems to afflict the recent Power Macs. I would absolutely hate to abandon OSX, but I will not put up with this kind of quality failure (hardware & service) again.

  • Bold 9930 - dead and flashing red light

Bold - Verizon 9930, died with flashing red light, non-responsive. Can connect wtih loader, re-loading latest OS for Verizon (7.1.0_rel1737_PL5.1.0.429_A7.1.0.580_Verizon_Wireless) Load fails with "application loader was unable to connect with your device" when it tries to connect with the JVM. I have tried:- fully charged known good battery (tested in another 9930)- wiping device- start without battery, insert battery when JVM message comes up- both BB desktop and Loader directly- two different PCs (no change)- different USB ports- older version of BB OS for device- many, many iterations... All end with "application loader was unable to connect with your device" Is the device scrap?  If so why?  It's not even 2 years old, out of warranty, and apparently now totally worthless.  This one is the CEO's Blackberry, and he's not happy...  If I can't resolve this, it will be the very last BB to ever see the inside of our company.  This is the second 9930 to die this way in the last 4 weeks.

    Hello,
    Firstly...

Does RIM care about these failure issues at all I wonder?
If you were hoping for a response from RIM, you have misunderstood the purpose of these forums. These are not a channel for any communications with, support from, nor escalation to RIM for anything. Rather, these are a user-to-user community of volunteers trying to help each other out amidst their own busy lives. So patience perhaps would be a good thing to have...
Nevertheless, please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    Remove the battery
    Wait 15 minutes
    Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
While you've already validated that your battery is good, I don't think you've tried the first part of this test:
Obtain a known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem.
While perhaps redundant to what you've already attempted, here are a few more things to try:
KB10144 How to force the detection of the BlackBerry smartphone using Application Loader
KB27956 How to recover a BlackBerry smartphone from any state
    http://crackberry.com/blackberry-101-lecture-12-how-reload-operating-system-nuked-blackberry
Since you are out of warranty, your next step I suppose would be to seek in-hand support from a qualified technician to give you a proper diagnosis. Doing such at this internet distance is quite a challenge and therefore cannot replace in-hand evaluation and diagnosis.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Large outside Junction/Control box has flashing red light - bad or normal?

There is a Verizon outside box that is large with a flashing red light on its side.  It appears to be a junction or control box mounted on the ground.  It has been there for years and I do not remember seeing a flashing red light until now.  Plus, my DSL connection has been dropping recently.  Can a tech rep from Verizon High Speed Internet answer?  Thank you for yur patience.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

These boxes are called Remote Terminals, and yes it is for DSL.  The flashing light probably means that the battery backup has failed, so it shouldn't really affect your DSL unless your power goes out.  And even then, the battery backup is only to power the voice line to make calls.
I would call 1-800-VERIZON and choose the option about "repair."  I've had luck with getting poles replaced/repaired that way.  Say that there's a flashing red light on the remote terminal, give the street address, and also give the central office you're out of (IE, your area code and first 3 digits of your phone number should tell the rep where you are).  Also, stop by it and see if you can find any writing/markings on that, and tell them that too.  Be as specific as possible.  Make sure you get a ticket number from them, and make sure they have a call back number.
There was a tree laying on a wire near me, and I made sure I got a repair ticket; the next day a tech called me to say he was headed out that way and asked specific details about the location, what was wrong, etc.   A few days later the tree was gone.

  • Touch sceen wont work and red light

My touch screen on my HTC Rhyme stopped working and now there is a faint red light in the top left corner of the screen.  How can I fix this?

Hi. My name is Stephanie, >Personal info removed< daughter. I have had my phone since July 1, 2012. I have been having consistent issues with it taking FOREVER to turn on or restart. Also, I have at the same issue the starter of this thread. To describe in more detail, I can hit the on/off button to show the home screen. But, the touch screen is not working. And, there is a faint red light about 5mm to the left of the Verizon logo at the top of the front screen. I chose this phone because I wanted a smart phone and this looked like a great option, but I have been having consistent issues and have not dropped the phone or changed anything on the phone. Hoping to get some help, otherwise, I am contemplating paying the cost for the new Samsung note, as much as I DO NOT have the money to do this. Please let me know ASAP as to my options, especially since I don't have any discount or good upgrade options until 04/2013. Thank you so much hope that I can get some resolution to this problem.  Also, you can e-mail me directly at >Personal email address removed<

  • No sound, red light emitted from headphone jack

So I really have no idea how to get my sound back. I simply pulled my headphones out of the back of my Mac and I lost sound from the speakers in the computer. When I hit the adjust volume buttons on the keyboard, a circle-with-a-line-through-it symbol shows up underneath, and I hear nothing. When I look at the port where my headphones plug in, a red light is shining out of it. I've already checked sound options in system preferences. Did I break my sound by simply pulling my headphones out?? Help!

Had same thing happen a couple times and fixed it by just plugging headphones in and unplugging a couple times.
Don't know for a fact but I think the audio output thinks it has a digital optical device connected (Hence the red light). That would explain why you are getting no sound from speakers.
Next step would be to call Apple.

  • Xperia S does not turn on, red light when charging.

My phone, after spending a day on a boat, was low on battery (this was 2 hours after leaving on the drive home). It went from 6% battery to shutting down completely in a matter of seconds. I plugged it into my car charger immediately, but it has not turned on since. Previously i have had problems with the headphone jack not recognising if earphones were plugged in or not, but this usually resolved within a few minutes. On top of this i have once struggled to turn the phone on due to i believe a once off problem with the power button.
Recently the headphone jack has been playing up a lot more than usual, but it never resulted in this.  I have never experienced any other problem with the phone. PROBLEM: Once it turned off, I have been unable to restart my phone. When charging it shows a dull red light like when charging less than 15% battery. I have charged it now, on and off using multiple different charges for 6 hours, and have left it on its original charger as i write this. The power button plus volume up has no effect. There is no vibrations when i turn on the device. The screen which usually loads something when charging, has not displayed anything since turning off. It does not connect to either an apple or windows computer with a usb cable, volume down key depressed or not. It does not get hot to touch while charging, and i remember according to AVG that the battery quality that day was "good". After 6 hours of charging, the red light is still there(and usually a full charge after 1.3 hours, leaves a green light) Put simply, the only responce of any kind i get from the phone is a red light when charging. What have i done? recharged the phone for 6 hours, tried power button, restart button combo, usb connection with both an apple and windows computer, i also put it in rice in case there was any water but did not change anything. anything changed? after 2 hours of charging on the wall, the red light disapeared... tried the above, nothing happened, unplugged the phone then replugged it in... red light. I will try to get it repaired shortly along with a broken PS3, but i would rather a solution, as both my work and social life heavily depend on it. thankyou in advance

If you have given it a good charge and still have no luck, I would advise running a software repair. This can be done with the phone powered off:
    1. Download the PC Companion software from http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/pc-companion/
and install it on your PC.
    2. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.
    3. Phone Software Update.
    4. Start.
    5. Repair Phone
    6. Continue
    7. Accept data removal
    8. Next
    9. Wait for prepare
    10. Select Phone
    11. Follow the connection steps

  • Is it dangerous to look at the red light in the headphone jack?

I recently purchased an early 2009 model white MacBook. Today I was installing Windows on it and I noticed a red light coming out of the headphone jack. I thought there must be an LED in there to help you locate it in the dark. I was curious about it so I crouched down next to the computer and looked inside the jack to see what the deal was.
At the time I didn't know that there is such a thing as an optical audio jack. Obviously I now know that's what the red light was all about. Now I'm wondering if looking at that light could have injured my eyes. Is it a laser, an LED, or something else? Does anyone know how dangerous it is to look at that light? I looked directly at it from close range for perhaps 3-10 seconds, with eyeglasses on. I don't remember it seeming uncomfortable to look at.

Thank you both for your replies.
    GfulDedFan wrote:
To the best of my knowledge, that light shouldn't be on when the port is empty.
Yes, my understanding is that that light should only ever come on when there is a Toslink mini-plug adapter inserted into it (or at least a regular 3.5mm analog plug). However, like you said, I've seen a number of posts on the internet about that switch that turns on the digital output (red light) getting stuck in the on position (even without having plugged in a Toslink adapter). My understanding is that in my case the light came on because I was in the process of installing Windows and the driver for the audio hardware hadn't been installed yet.
    GfulDedFan wrote:
As far as harmful rays, I doubt that it would be harmful because I've read about this audio problem before but never with a cornea damage attached to it.
I did look inside the jack directly at the light. I think it might be the retina that would be at risk if anything, but in any case, I sure hope nothing was damaged.

I don't recall having a reaction that it was uncomfortably bright and then having to force myself to look at it. If it had seemed uncomfortable I don't think I would have continued to look at it.
I don't think I actually became concerned about it until I found out that the light is for digital audio output and wondered if it is a laser. Not that I recommend looking right at a bright LED either. But I wasn't expecting a bright LED either (let alone a laser) -- like I said, my first thought was that there must be an LED inside to make the jack easy to locate in the dark (I was in a darkened room at the time.

Fortunately I haven't, but someone who did have a laser pointer aimed at their eye told me they noticed it when they felt a burning sensation on their eye.
