Red Line on camera

When using the camera, a red line appears across the screen. It also show up on pictures. Anybody know how to remove it?

Sounds like a faulty line of pixels in the sensor.  If a security wipe does not fix it i think it needs a repair.

  • Battery Icon with Red Line on BB 8310

So, how pervasive is the problem of theBlackberry 8310 and its icon with the red line across from it?  Is it a problem with the battery? Or is it a problemwith the phone?  IS there any fix?
Mine came brand new in a box a few daysago. It came with a blue battery (C-S2). As soon as I put the battery into thephone, the dreaded Icon (battery with a red line through it) showed up.  I charged it, thinking that means the batteryis empty and left it charging for over 5 hours, hoping the Icon will go away.It never did, and now 4 days later and an infinite number of battery pulls, some with a twist or two, it is still there. If it was any otherpiece of technology I would dismiss it as junk. But, oh, this is the famous BB.
Instead, I did some research, have spentupwards of 15 hours over the last 4 days, trying to figure it out. I ran intolots of things on the Net, including the crackberry postings with people sayingthat they got rid of the problem by dropping (!!) the BB from 3-4 feet, sometimes repeatedly, until it fixed itself. Others report the problem aftersome time of use (flaky construction?). On this forum alone there are at least4 recent postings with the identical problem (search for “8310 battery line”and find the post of “Spyridonas” 12-13-08, of “black_black_b” 06-10-09, of  “hades” 09-27-09 and of “Alien_X” 09-28-09.  None of those seems to have got the attentionof anyone from RIM, and nobody offered any meaningful solution.  As people have reported time and again, it isvery unlikely to be the problem with the battery, so we are left to conclude thatthe phones are lemons.
We spend lots of money for a useless pieceof junk and nobody at RIM cares. If this was a car, it would have been recalled a long time ago. I will get my money back and buy somethingelse, maybe a Nokia or even a Moto. Watch out RIM, you are pissing off a lot ofpeople, and some of them are the wrong people to piss off.

I think you did. You pointed out each instance you could find when this fix did not work. You failed to point out the dozens of times this fix did work.
So, to answer your initial post questions:
So, how pervasive is the problem of theBlackberry 8310 and its icon with the red line across from it?
Not very pervasive. It certainly is not one of the top ten problems judging from the questions I see asked here and elsewhere.
Is it a problem with the battery?
Could be. Have you tried a brand new battery (I forget if you said).
Or is it a problemwith the phone?
Again, could be. There could be an issue with your battery contacts on the device.
    IS there any fix?
For most, yes. We've been over that.
Try cleaning the contacts on the device. See if that helps. Try a new battery... and often new batteries are very low or close to dead upon purchase so follow the directions above to charge and bootup.

I had already seen this bit of lame “advice”  that has been circulating on BB boards and hadtried it several times,
Oh, thank you so much. You know, you get what you give. Your initial post above did not state what you had tried several times. We don't read minds, well, I don't at least.
    Alien_X wrote:
Anytime you buy a brand new item and it fails to work after 4 days of trying anything you can find I”d say you got a lemon.
You've had it four days, brand new, and you haven't returned it for a new device? That would be my first suggestion had you stated that first off. I would not keep that device if first off it didn't work. But a lemon? Nah, it's not a pervasive problem inherent to the model, which is what a lemon is normally defined as.

This is a community support forum. Your post above just reaks of attitude. If you're expecting users here to flock to your post to help out with that kind of attitude and silly threats, well, as you can see, it just didn't happen.

  • Battety problems - blank screen wit battery sign with red line

I have the blackberry 8900 curve. Recently when I put my phone on charge it would turn my BB off and turn it self back on again. My battery was about 2% and I put it on charge and the phone turned off but when I looked at my phone the red light came on and then blank screen with a battery sign with a red line through it.
I got some advice to take out battery, sim card and memory card. Which I did and my BB turned back on. However my battery was still dead so I put it back on charge and it turned off and since then my BB hasn't turned back in. I've left it on charge and nothing.
Would really appreciate it if someone could help me out on this.
    K.sandhu

Excellent advice! I just had the same thing happen to me and your post solution fixed my phone.

  • The dreaded battery with red line (battery not detected)

I've tried everything I can find to fix this problem...  a little while ago, I was writing a text message when my 8900 decided to reboot.  When it came back, all that was on the screen (and all I've seen since) is the battery with a red line through it.  I've done battery pulls, charded for more than a day using both USB and directly into a wall... I tried to wipe and reinstall but have been unable to complete the procedure (symbol reappears part way through)....  anyone out there have anything else I can try?  Here is a bit more about the attempt to wipe and reinstall the OS:
Downloaded and ran JL_Cmder, was unsuccesful, it wouldn't connect to the phone.  Ran AppLoader from command prompt, finally able to get it to connect to the phone by unpluging from the usb, removing and replacing the battery and plugging back in immediately as the red light came on.  Got through removal of applications and instal oif JVM and system files, on the step where it waits for the device to initialize, it stops and the battery/line comes back on the screen....
any further thoughts/advice are greatly apprecaited.
    Thanks
    Chris

Mine is doing the exact same thing...We are not the only users who have run into this SAME problem. I have searched everywhere for a solution. I've tried JL, BBsak, DM, and crackmem. Nothing works...can't seem to connect

  • Sequence clip with  red line above

I imported several clips from a Nikon D300s camera into PP, and put on a sequence timeline.  4 show the yellow line above, indicating matching settings, but 2 show red lines, and I don't know what is different.  All were done at the same time, and shouldn't have any different settings, to not match like the others.  What could be the reason?

Originally, I created the sequence by matching the camera settings, and then imported all the video clips.  that's why I don't know why 4 would have yellow lines and 2 red, since they were all from the same source camera and day.  All had been put on one sequence.
After finding I could have separate sequences within a project, today, I dragged the original, untrimmed AVI files to the new sequence box so they would match for sure, and then I copied and pasted the same (but trimmed) file to this sequence, so each of the 6 has its own sequence.  Still the 2 have the red line.  I didn't find any effects to clear either.

  • When opened, my image appears black with a few red lines at the top, yet the thumbnail looks as it should be. How do I fix this?

I have been working on an illustration in Photoshop for a few months now. When I tried to open it yesterday it came up as a single layered black image with a few red lines at the top. I have no idea what this is. I have not even used red in my artwork. However, no matter how many times open this file, the thumbnail still looks like my artwork, as it should be. How do I fix this? Will I be able to get my artwork back? Please help! Thank you in advance.

  • Adobe Premiere Elements - Red Line / Green Line

I have spent this past weekend working with Premiere Elements on my Mac (just purchased it along with Photoshop Elements 9).  I can't seem to find a manual for it so so far I have been forced to work with it based on intuition.  Thus far, I have been surprisingly successful.  However, I do have some questions.
I have imported some videos that were previously ripped from DVDs into Organizer.  I have place several clips into the timeline and made mostly edits like cuts and removal of audio files attached to the video files (no effects and no transitions).  I have also imported an audio file (formatted in apple AAC) into the timeline that was purchased from iTunes.  What I noticed is that there is a red line on top of the timeline and I am not sure why (not even sure what that means).  While I'm editing, the program runs pretty sluggishly (ie. scubbing through the timeline is very blocky and not smooth) but so far it has not crashed.  Also, the video quality while viewing on the timeline is somewhat poor.  However, once I render the project to a .mov file it looks great and all the edit points I have done is on point and synced with the music.
Can someone provide insight for a newbie?

The red line indicates that the content under the timeline is not "native". When you click on the timeline and then hit the "Enter" key, you will see a progress bar that converts this area under the red bar to native properties and turns the bar green. Native to what? Native to the project presets.
When you launch a new project you will notice a small information under the project name etc, that looks something like "NTSC DV" or "Full HD 5.1 1920x1080i 30" etc. This is the settings in which the clips are to be imported. If you are sure about the exact properties of the clips that you will import and edit, I suggest you change these project settings manually when you create the new project. Else, all you have to do is launch a project with ANY setting, and enter a single file from what you have imported to the organizer. The switch to a correct project will happen automatically. Hopefully the other clips that you have for this edit session are from the same camera/with same properties. When native, there are no Red/Green bars above the clips.
The other thing about the red/green bar is that if any property of the clip is altered, (adding effect, changing opacity, changing the duration, placing any other asset above the clip etc) the bar WILL turn red. That is when you might see the playback issues. To correct this, you must render and then once green the playback will be really smooth.
And regarding your query about changing the project while you are editing, you cannot do that in Premiere Elements. If you have started editing in a particular project setting, you can save it, and continue editing later. But when you reopen the same project, the settings will be the same as the ones you created/switched to the first time.

  • What does a red line at top of the audio waveform mean?

    Hi everyone.
I'm new, more or less to the imovie forum.
I have imported a video clip into imovie, and there is a long red line on top of where the audio waveform should be. Does this mean that the audio did not get imported, or that it is muted somehow? I don't see any waveform whatsoever, nor do I see any way to "unmute" the audio. When I play the video clip in VLC, the audio plays fine. What am I missing?
    Thanks

You got to do some more step's
Open application so that you see the problem on screen
    press - Shift+cmd+4 - and mark a significant area
in next responce - select the Camera symbol and flip to the sceendump - most often found on Root level on Macintosh HD (Boot drive)
    or
    ON DeskTop as here
And Insert button down right (after selecting the picture)
Can be named in several ways dep. on Mac OS

  • Red Line in the timeline by the time code

    Hello Again,
Suddenly, a red line appeared in the timeline by the time code? what does it mean? How can I delete it? Thanks again.

    Thank you for your feedback.
Yes, I' familiar about the un rendered red lines. The line I'm talking about is right inside the "ruler" as if the digits (minutes/seconds) are crossed out. This line also showing up at the canvass window. I think this came out when i'm doing some keyframing.
    Thanks again.

Where are you importing from – a camera or computer? If you are optimizing at import, make sure the background processes are completed. (Command-9)

  • Red line above the time line

How do I get it so after initially importing my video the line above the time line will be green instead of red.  It stays red until after I render the whole clip.  I am importing my video clips from my camcorder.  How do you determine the correct project settings if that is the issue?
    Thanks

How do I get it so after initially importing my video the line above  the
time line will be green instead of red.
Not possible as worded. If you have the correct project preset, there  will
be no colored line over this Timeline content.
If you do not have the correct project preset, there will be a red line
    over this Timeline content.
What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer
operating system is it running? APE 8  Windows XP 3GB  of ram Pentium Dual core
    Proc 2.41 Ghz
If you are talking "red" line, then you must be working with a version of
Premiere Elements earlier than 11. Assuming that....
If your project preset matches the properties of your source media, then,
when you bring one of those files to the Timeline, you will get no colored
line  over the Timeline. But, after that, after you edit that content, a red
line will  appear. That is when you render the Timeline content to turn the
line  green.Thereafter, that original content will never revert to the no
colored line  status as you work through editing that project. It will just go
through the red  green color indicator system.
No colored line and green = the program telling you that you now have the
best possible preview of the Timeline content when viewing it in the Edit
Mode  monitor playback. Red line = the program telling you that you do not
have the  best possible preview of the Timeline content and, if you want that,
then you  can press the Enter key of the computer main keyboard to make that
    happen.

  • Battery w/a red line or bolt going through it and a blank screen- HELP

my phone was working and then I went to plug it in to charge, the screen went blank and a battery symbol with a red line through it came on. A Red LED light appeared. I tried to charge it for it was low but still nothing. I took the battery out and back in, charged it and still nothing. I had it charge all night and still the same blank screen w/battery symbol and red line.
do I need a new battery? what can I do to get my screen back and my phone working?? my phone was working prior to this.

    Welcme to the Frums
Where did you get your battery? Make sure it is the correct one for your curve and I would take it back. Maybe it was an old stock battery?

  • Phone turns off & won't turn back on. Flashing battery image w/ red line

I've been having an issue for a few days where my Curve 8330 will randomly "shut off", and then try to reboot but come to a screen with a battery and a flashing red line on it.  It will come back into the OS occasionally, and work normally for hours, and then the cycle repeats itself.  I've done battery pulls, bought a new battery and tried that, charged via wall and USB, and nothing seems to stop this from happening.
Based on other posts here, the only two reasons I've found for this is bad battery (which would not seem to be the case, since it happens on two batteries), or water damage (water never came near the phone, and the water sensitive stickers on the batteries indicate no water damage).  Is there any other possibility besides having a defective phone?  It's worked for three months without issues.  Are there any ways to fix this besides a warranty swap/repair?
    Thanks!

try a security wipe, doubt it will work but worth a try
    backup device
    options- security options- general settings
    menu button- wipe handheld
wait till you BB reboots adn test it again without restoring your backup
if that doesnt work, try this
make sure you have DTM 4.7 or 5.0 installed and closed
    plug in BB
click on start- run and type
    cmd
    press enter, then type
    cd c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
    press enter, then type
    loader.exe /resettofactory

Hi and welcome to the forums!
Try doing the application load with the battery out.  It will error out and give a message similar to "unable to connect to device during a multi-stage load operation".  Once you get the error, put the battery back in and try the application load again.
You may have to try this four or five times, but if you can "spark" it for the second it looks for the PIN and gets connected you can finish the load.
    Make sense?
