Red line rendering

I keep getting a red line in the rendering bar every time i put a clip into the timeline, after reading the manual i was instructed to make sure that the clip and sequence settings were matching so i did this, but nothing has changed, i still can't put a clip into the timeline or even move it about without having to render it. Anyone got any pointers?
Would really be grateful for any help, cheers.

You can't change a sequence once it's been opened. Your changes to the setup will only affect the next sequence you create. So start a new one, make sure you have it set to match your clip settings. What are your clip settings? Conventional DV? Then use one of the presets; see the manual: easy setups.
Strongly urge you to dedicate 10 hours to running the tutorials and reading the getting started and setting up sections of the manuals. FCP is absurdly complicated.

  • Red line - rendering issues

I have a project that is showing a red line above all the video clips.  When I render the time line they go away, but as soon as I close the project and reopen it, the red line comes back.    From what I have read on Forum and in Steve's book it means that my project settings and my video files don't match.  I thought I had everything matched, this is a standard definition project using avi video files.   I have a screen shot of the project settings.  DV NTSC. 720 x 480,
Any suggestions on what might be causing this???
Here is the properties on the first clip.

I think I led us down the wrong path earlier.   I opened a new project and took the same video clips into the new project with the project setting for DV.
When I pulled them into the time line a dialog box comes up.
"Fix quality problems in the clips",
When I click yes, the redline comes in on the PE time line.   If I click no, then there is no color and the time line looks like it is suppose to.  I must have clicked yes several weeks ago when I was pulling the clips in.   It was my first PE project.
As both of you have suggested, I anaylized the clip in GSpot.   I don't know what I am looking for, so here is my screen shot.   Sorry about the quality, I don't have "Snag It" and I am getting these with print screen and cropping in photoshop.

  • CS5.5: timeline rendered, but still "red line"?

    Hello,
I rendered the timeline with a nested timeline over night (> 10 h rendering time for 30 minutes video) to work with it in a smooth way,  the folder "Adobe Premiere Pro Preview Files" contains a renderd file with 16 GB -- but there is still a "red line" in the timeline!
But why? 10 hours for nothing? Grr....
    Thanks!

What is your brand/model graphics adapter, and the device driver version?
IF you have nVidia... the driver version
Right click in any open area of the Windows desktop
Select NVIDIA Control Panel from the popup window
Select SYSTEM INFORMATION at the lower left corner
Driver version should be the 1st line in Details
    I have a GTX285 using driver 296.10 and Win7

  • Digitizing DVCPro 50 and Mini DV with the red line

I've digitized from DVCPro 50 with Capture Settings at DV 50 NTSC 48khtz and Video Playback at DV 50 NTSC 48khtz and Playback firewire 720x480.
Now I'm digitizing the Mini DV portion (Broll) with Capture Settings at DV NTSC 48khtz and Video Playback at DV 50 NTSC 48khtz and Playback firewire 720x480.
When I put clips of each in a sequence together, a red line appears over the DVCPro 50 footage. I render the DVCPro clip and both play fine.
Did I set up something wrong? Is there a short cut to rendering all my DVCPro 50 dailies? I can easily re-digitize the Mini DV footage but the DVCPro 50 deck was a rental and over 30 hours so can't back-track there.

Can't digitize the Mini DV's in DVCPro 50 settings because FCP won't let me, at least not without a DVCPro 50 deck so I'm going to try the export, re-import plan.
I want to be sure not to bolox up the media management so should I isolate the media? Here are the steps I'm contemplating:
tuck away all the FCP files on the scratch disc that pertain to DVCPro 50
create a new DV NTSC project with a new name
digitize the Mini DV media with DV NTSC settings and capture
export these files as DVCPro 50 to other drive with DVCPro 50 media
go back to the initial project and import bumped-up clips
put the MiniDV project and media in a folder
take the DVCPro files out their isolation folder

  • VirtualDub to DV-AVI ~ Red Line...

Using VDub to DV-AVI before loading into PE4, I noticed that my converted file had the infamous 'Red Line' above it, suggesting it should be rendered for better viewing (and workflow).
How I got here is not pretty, but I'll give you the workflow:
An old analog tape to Sony Mini-DVD Handycam.
    Export from Handycam as Mpeg2.
Mpeg2 to Windows Movie Maker (WMM).
Export from WMM as DV-AVI type I
DV-AVI to VDub, output as DV-AVI II.
The reason I don't go Mpeg2 to VDub is I get a constant Audio Compression error, so I goto WMM first.
Surprisingly, this seems to work fine and the vid/audio quality is acceptabe (considering where I started).
Because of the 'Red Line', the monitor view within PE is ugly, but Burn to Folder and play is okay (no jerk or sync issue).
I don't recall seeing Red on DV-AVI from VDub in the past, and was wondering if others witness the same (or maybe it's my weird workflow on Assets for this Project)...

    Kodebuster,
With your AV on the Timeline, go to Effects and choose Audio Effects from the drop-down. You should then see ~17 Audio Effects. In my setup of PE4, Fill Left  and Fill Right are #7 & 8 (top row). Now, if you have more VST's, or added Effects, the exact placement will likely differ.
I'd also suggest that you look into doing the Capture via an A-D "bridge," like the Canopus, or Pyro. This will save one MPEG compression, and also any conversions, as they both will Capture as DV-AVI Type II. Other than the Audio, you should be good to go.
Something that I often do with mono Audio is just copy (or bring in another instance of that Clip) to a second mono Audio Track. Now, I'm using PrP2, so there could be a reason to NOT do this in PE. I'm also Exporting the Audio as DD 5.1 SS via the Minnetonka SurCode plug-in, and I'll manipulate the two mono Clips, placing them, and adding other Effects to them, in different places on the Audio "stage." Usuallly, I'm just doing this with SFX Clips, and not the full Audio for an AV Clip.
    Hope that this helps.

  • Photos do not render. Red line sits frozen.

I'm using the old iMovie HD, the one that can do everything, but is not a reference movie maker.
I have never seen my render (red) line freeze. I am unable to import any more photos. It is a big slide show, half done, everything went well, and now, halfway through, it is not rendering.
    Lost.
    Thanks

    Hi
    My first suggestions
    A. Free space on Start-Up (Mac OS) hard disk. How much ? I secure a minimum of 25Gb free space.
    B. Corrupted iMovie pref file. Trash it and re-try.

  • Red line and beeps when trying to apply Audio Filters in FCE

I'm using FCE 4.0.1 and am getting red line and beeps when trying to apply Audio Filters. I have rendered the files. No problems with audio otherwise.

Just as a point of clarification, you stated that you were "getting red line and beeps when trying to apply Audio Filters"  Did you mean when you applied audio filters?  Or just when you were trying to apply them?
What is the format, sampling rate and bit depth of the audio?   Does it happen just with certain filters or with any filters applied?

  • Red Line in the timeline by the time code

    Hello Again,
Suddenly, a red line appeared in the timeline by the time code? what does it mean? How can I delete it? Thanks again.

    Thank you for your feedback.
Yes, I' familiar about the un rendered red lines. The line I'm talking about is right inside the "ruler" as if the digits (minutes/seconds) are crossed out. This line also showing up at the canvass window. I think this came out when i'm doing some keyframing.
    Thanks again.

  • A few seconds after render finishes, the red line re-appears above timeline.

    Hello
I am editing a video consisting of still pictures (jpgs) on Premiere Pro CC 2014.
I am using dynamic link with After effects in order to add some animation effects on the still images (sky replacement, puppet, projection etc..)
After doing some work on AE, when I get back to Premiere, a red line appears above the timeline, meaning that I must render that clip (which was just worked on in AE)
Recently the performance while rendering became very slow   (rendering inside Premiere by pressing "Enter" on the keyboard)
I just waited several hours for it to finish rendering a part of my clip.  It finally finished.
I then played the video and it was running smoothly.
However, after a few seconds, without me doing any changes !!!  suddenly the red line above the timeline reappeared.
And now, the video seems to be un-rendered, and it is either not playing or getting stuck all the time.
Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?
This is extremely frustrating and looks like something is terribly wrong with Premiere.
    screenshot is attached.
    Thanks,
    Tal

I have installed the xf86-video-intel-newest from AUR, but with modified version - 2.13.0. Now mouse pointer works.

  • CS6 Premiere Preview Rendered files goes Red (un-rendered)

When I launch Premiere Pro CS6 (Windows 7 x64, main drive is Transcend SSD, Nvidia Graphics GTX580) all my rendered preview files has gone red and then I have to re- render everything. Very annoying and time consuming! Hope there is a fix for that. Nothing changes, no files gets moved. I can actually still see all the preview files on the drive, but it somehow loses the connection. But there is no error message; all the ‘green’(pre-rendered) lines in the sequence goes ‘red’(un-rendered)... Thanks in advance for any help!

Since you are experiencing a similar problem to mine, you can follow a discussion I just poted to see if anything comes back...

  • Little red line appearing at bottom of 2 clips dropped onto my timeline

This isn't a clip that isn't yet rendered. Rather it's a line that appears at the bottom of the clip but only from the first frame till about half way through the length of the clip and it also has four little white rectangals at the start of the red line. It plays fine on the timeline, doesn't need rendering (if you do, it is still there) but I have never seen this before and wondered what the significance is or what it indicates?
    thanks

it's showing you instances of using the same media in your sequence. you've enabled Show Duplicate Frames in the Timeline Options of your User Preferences.
time to get out the manual and read about your user interface.

  • Thinner red line at top of timeline

hi folks, have followed the thread on sequence settings and matching to source files...but, having a similar problem here and can't figure it out. My source footage is 1920x1080 24p (the source footage doesn't say whether it is progressive or interlaced -I assume it is "p" by the 24p). When I import the footage into FCP and check clip settings it says compressor Photo -JPEG. I create a sequence using HDTV 1080i (16:9) to get 1920x1080 frame, pixel aspect ratio Square and Compressor Photo -JPEG and editing timebase of 23.98. The frame looks perfect. I place the video on the timeline and I get a thinner red line at top of timeline (thinner that the usual Needs Rendering bar). I hit Option+R to render and the clip is instantaneously rendered (<1 sec) and plays fine on the timeline and in the Canvas. Is there something else to look for that might be causing the red line or is something incompatible somewhere else? Thank you.

The frame looks perfect. I place the video on the timeline and I get a thinner red line at top of timeline (thinner that the usual Needs Rendering bar).< </div>
Indicates the frames are duplicate, they've been used elsewhere in the sequence. You can turn off this indication in a pref settings someplace.

  • Red Lines on Timeline?

What is this red line?  All is rendered but the red areas do not play smoothly...
    thanks

Is the drive on which these clips are placed plugged into your system while you had played over?

  • Thin red line treatment

Thin red line treatment when adding title.  Playback slows to a crawl and I can't sync.  No obvious incompatiblties.  Using Vista with dual core Athon - 3 GB ram. Any ideas anyone?

That's fine. It is PRE's way of telling you that you have adjusted a clip. If playback is jerky you can press [Enter] and PRE will render the timeline for a smoother preview. If you have lots of red lines and only want to render a small piece then set the WorkAreaBar to cover just that piece.
Note that none of this is necessary and it makes no difference to your final output as PRE always renders the entire timeline during the Share process.

  • How do I cut on the red line?

On my time line I can pause my clip right where I want to cut it and theres that red vertical line that runs through the timeline but when I go to the razor tool its free moving and I want to cut exactly on the frame I have the red line paused at.  How do I do this?  Also, if I have a bunch of clips on my timeline and I want to shift them all to the right so I can insert a clip, how do I do this?
