Red loooks like Peach inside Photoshop

I've been watching plenty of photoshop tutorials and when the person in the video uses the color red it looks like red. when I use the color red IT LOOKS LIKE PEACH! it doesnt look like red at all. Is there some type of preference/setting I can change?

I sense that you are looking for an easy answer to a difficult concept - color management. That's not going to happen.
However, perhaps after some questions it will be possible to direct you to change your settings to be more to your liking.
1. Have you profiled and calibrated your monitor with a device (e.g., a Color Munki, Spyder, etc.)?
2. What kind of monitor do you have?
3. What is your monitor profile set to? This is not a setting in Photoshop, but rather in Windows. For example, in Vista or Windows 7 you look in the Color Management dialog in the control panel.
4. Would you prefer things to look more consistent from application to application, or for the colors to be more accurate in the specific applications that support color management (e.g., Photoshop), knowing that having this will mean that you'll see different colors in some applications than in others?

Can't get file open thumbnail previews inside Photoshop CC?

Hi all,
When in Photoshop CC I then go to file / open, my machine won't display preview thumnails for each of my image files (.jpg, .gif, .png, .psd etc) and all I see is the blue Photoshop icon for each of these files, I have also tried changing the view options on the folder and change to medium, large and extra large thumnbails but again they all just display the Photoshop CC blue icon.
When I run Photoshop CS5 on this exact same machine it shows them!
Is there a setting I need to change in Photoshop CC to get this to work, or is Adobe trying to get us to use bridge or?
I am running Windows 7.

It's a trial,but I get thumbs inside Photoshop CC under Windows 7 and for a $15 license it's a deal.
There are programming reasons as to why thumbnails won't register in newer versions of Photoshop,but I'll have to let an Adobe programmer explain that part.

I am using a computer with CS6 installed, but would like to install Photoshop CS2.

Running Mavericks on an iMac early 2009 vintage; with a full edition of CS6. I would like to utilize Photoshop CS2 but the install program will not allow this. Is there a workaround? Any thoughts on the subject will be appreciated. Thanks for looking.

The simple truth is the Adobe has added bugs into Photoshop they are unwilling to fix. They do not fix bugs reported by users that have given us scripts like Image Processor Pro so these outstanding users leave here. Adobe has broken users work-flows removing features they used like Picture Package and Oil Painter. Lightroom is a heavy load to bear just to get jQuery and brrige output web gallerises can nor be customized well. You don't need light room to use jQuery.
Not all Web Photo galleries were flash based. In fact the Html web galleries are the ones you can customize well. If all Adobe wanted to do was remove Flash web galleries they could have for the support they added for Flash galleries like simpleviewer was not well done and did not take advantage of the customization that simplviewer supports.
Though with my subscription I can download and install Lightroom I don't. I tried some of the Lightroom betas which show me I did not want to used it so it was renoved. If Adobe wanted to change how one Process RAW files why did the not also change ACR why make users learn two user interfaced for raw processing. Lightroon is not a full fledged image editor you need an image processor like Photoshop with Layers support to be able to blend raw conversions to bring out some details. If your a business Lightroom Library may god send and something your IT staff can deal with. For me Lightroom is a maintenance burden I don't need.
Using Adobe Products means high maintenance Adobe release code before they should bug force user to work around them and use older working version of Photoshop. Adobe support is not what it should be reported acknowledge bugs go unfixed release after release. Photoshop is powerful but has a high cost and I'n not talking money here IMO Photoshop price has always been reasonable for what what you can do with it. You need to put in a lot of work into Photoshop to get value out of it. Photoshop is not suitable for the general public.

Suffice it to say, the features in CS2 were all good in their day but that was almost a decade ago. A lot has changed since then.
Most of the features in CS2 are still in CC 2014. HTML web galleries are still relevant today. Photographer still want to sell Picture packages which CC 2014 can no longer create. Many thing were change in Photoshop some for the better like the removal of the extract plugin which was poor at best. Photmerge and other features were greatly improves. Still not all changes made were good. The quality of Photoshop code is not as good as it use to be...

Photoshop files won't open in an way but inside Photoshop

I just set up a new Intel Mac Pro and installed Photoshop CS4 on it.
Now when I try to open Photoshop files by just clicking on them none of them will open in anything but Preview.
The only way I can get any to open is through the "file - open" window inside Photoshop, which is a big waste of time.
Everything worked fine on my other Mac, but now on this new one many things have changed even though it's the exact same program.
And I can't find any settings that effect this.
How can I change it?

Click once on a closed file (to highlight it) then from Finder go File>Get Info. In the Get Info window chose Open with: Photoshop CS4 and click the Change All button.

.PSD file doesn't look like in Adobe Photoshop

Hi everybody!
I have problem with Adobe Fireworks CS4 trial. My friend created a .psd file in Adobe Photoshop and sent it to me. When I opened it, some layers didn't look like in Adobe Photoshop. They had 50% opacity, but in Photoshop was set only 20%. Some layers had diferent color. In Photoshop was set white, but in Fireworks i saw yellow.
Do you have any ideas, how to solve the problem ?

Was the original file done in CMYK?

Making a zoomer just like navigator in photoshop

I have done till getting current position of navigator in percent Because I wanted to do it on percent based calculation.
Because size of the Big image can be resized at any time. I have placed both images without code (manually) and made the navigator dragable within the small image boundary and scaling the Big image proportionately according to zooming
I am also scalling down navigator according to the Big image scaling UP AND getting current position of navigator in percent, percent is correct.
Because it is showing 0-100, everything is correct    Now My problem in how to position Big image based on percent (which is gotten from the navigator).
Please Remember Registration Point of ther Both (navigator and Big image) in center.

just import a image convert to MovieClip name it "big_mc" (Ragistration point in the center)
drag a scroll pane name it "sp"
for navigator.....
make a MovieClip name it "small_mc" (Ragistration point in the center)
in the "small_mc" make a ectangle and convert to movieClip name "border_mc" (Ragistration point in the center)
in the "small_mc" in the lower layer keep image in small size for navigator movement.
My stsageWidth = 800, StageHeight = 400.
In short I Want to position the Big image (in any scale) based on percent gotten from navigator (percentX ,percentY);
Please provide hints to help me to solve .I think the problem is arising due to Registration point but badly need the a solution.

I don't know OSX, but I am aware that there have been a number of issues since Mavericks was introduced. You'll find an FAQ covering that here:

I've just looked through that, and didn't see anything specific regards CS5 updates.
From what you say, you have downloaded the update file?
Adobe - Photoshop : For Macintosh : Adobe Photoshop 12.0.4 update for Adobe Photoshop CS5
Can you describe how the installation failed? Did you restart the computer before running it, and with no Adobe apps running as background processes?
With Windows, Bridge CS5 used to run in the Status bar, and prevent updates. You could either find it in via the Status bar pop-up and close it, or in Task Manager processes tab, and End Process. Is there a Mac user out there who can advise how this might work with Mavericks?

Yvonne, you definitely don't have the update installed if seeing 12.0 so any and all information as to what you have tried, any error messages, if just plain freezes, or what? The more clues, the better chance of finding a solution.

What OS do you have? You say you have explained what you had (computer/opsys) but I honestly don't see it here. If you had mentioned that my advice would have been different; I believe you can only upgrade as far as Camera Raw 8.3 on an older Windows system. There is more information here (look specifically for the "Revert to 8.3 ..." titles).

What you've done/written in your last post confuses things further, unfortunately. Photoshop 13.1 is strictly a Creative Cloud version. The highest you can go is Photoshop CS6 13.0.1.3 with perpetual license.
And as far as I can recall, that version can work on Windows back to XP:

I don't think you're out of luck, but you seem to be leaping into doing things without having the full story, and are jumping to conclusions a bit too quickly.
Here's what I suggest you try:
1. Remove Photoshop entirely with the Creative Suite Removal Tool:
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
2. Install Photoshop CS6 from your original media or from here:
Download CS6 products
3. Update the application using its own Help - Updates process. That really should get you the latest Camera Raw version that will work. If that does not bring you a Camera Raw that works with your Nikon, use the "Revert to 8.3" instructions above.

Is there anything inside Photoshop CC 2014 that functions like the old Mini Bridge?

In previous versions you had the option "open in mini bridge" i understand it has been removed for 2014 but is there anything similar in function?

Not that I know of, but you can run the full version in the background (since it was needed with mini bridge anyway) And use your modifier keys to switch between the two programs. (In windows it is alt-tab) In windows you can also tile the two programs by right clicking on the task bar. Also you can make the bridge window small enough so you can see photoshop while bridge is the active app then you can drag and drop files to photoshop.
Or you can keep both programs full screen and drag the file in bridge to the taskbar over the photoshop icon so that photoshop pops up the drag back up to photoshop and let go. Sounds like a bit of work but is very easy to do and remember to keep that mouse button held down until you have the cursor over the document area of photoshop.
It may not be as pretty or neat but will work.(for now)

Command +1 shortcut was set to "select red channnel" in the latest Photoshop CC 2014 by default.

I updated photoshop to the newest CC 2014 and then shortcut, command+1 became "select red channel" which was zoom to 100% in the CC. It seems like command +1 shortcut is unchangable... is there any solution to put it back to zoom to 100%??

I would wonder about your keyboard settings, (it's not bluetooth, is it) but it was working normally before. My default setting is US
Well, I can suggest resetting Preferences Hold down cmd-opt-shift while starting PS and answer yes to deleting the prefs.
I hope that clears it.
If not a reinstall is in order.
I'm running CC 2014 on a mid-2009 Macbook on Yosemite and I don't see this problem.

Unknown Icon: Red Circle with Feather Inside

I have an Icon that appears on the top of my Curve 8530 and I have no idea what it is for. It is a red circle with a white feather inside of it and it shows up with either the number 1 or 2 next to it and then goes away after a bit. It continues to come and go at various times. Does anyone know what this is for?
