Red prints from PS CS5 on Epson 2200

Printing problem on Epson 2200 from PS CS5, version 12.1 and from LR 3.6, running Mac 10.7.5. Prints are severely red cast, the way I remember them to look before I learned to shut off the printer driver. This is not just a little variation in color, but weird red prints. After contaccting Epson and printing successfully from Preview, they said it was an Adobe problem and I should contact Adobe. Epson said it is also happening with the 3880. Until very recently I have always had satisfactory prints. The issue started last night and I can't resolve it.

Your Photoshop preferences. Use the shortcut keys to delete the preferences as your starting Photoshop. I do not know if Photoshop store preferences for devices in its preferences. I do know that Photoshop stores print information in saved documents and also accesses device information the it may save in its preferences.  I know on my Windows machines I had red tinging problems on my Epson 4800 which was solved by resetting my Photoshop Preferences.

  • Transparency issues when printing from Illustrator CS5

I recently designed a flyer for an event that a group of artists and I are doing as a not-for-profit organization that we started, to help clean up the area and promote the arts.
When I print the file (saved as an AI), the colors are bold, the font is crisp, and everthing overall looks fantastic, apart from this "box" around some of the elements I have created/added to the file.
When being printed from an exported jpeg format, the boxes are not present, but the image overall is of lesser quality (i know it's from being compressed to a jpeg), and the colors are not as bold.
I only have a black & white printer, a Brother MFC-7220. I only found out this issue when my curiousity got the best of me, and printed it to see what it'd look like on paper (8.5"x11") before we sent it off to the print shot. This is when I noticed the problem.
The elements which have this box around them were edited in Photoshop CS 6 (trial), where I had (at least thought), disposed of each elements background, so I could import them into AI as objects, without any background.
The files were edited in PS in new documents with a transparent background, saved as a PSD, then "opened" in Illustrator where I simply copied the object and pasted into the AI file I was working in. I've tried recreating/re-adding the elements from PS back into AI with the same issue.
The image also looks perfect on my screen, no boxes whatsoever. I've tried playing around with printer settings, transparency/raster settings, but the only thing I can get close, is the low-quality jpeg file. This problem also happens when exporting to a PDF, which is what I typically use for my printing format from AI.
Any ideas what's going on here? The pictures linked below show a photo of the AI and the jpeg, and a screencap of my desktop as the AI stands right now. The jpeg export has a few minor changes to it, but are still otherwise the same. The only items that are "supposed" to have this, are the logos for our sponsors in the bottom-left corner.
I'm stumped, nothing is working that I've read about, and I need to get these printed as soon as I can! Any help would be appreciated - please keep in mind I'm a novice when it comes to AI/PS, I know mostly basics.

I, too am having the same issue printing from AI CS5. I have edited images in PS CS5 and there is a transparent background. I then placed (File>Place) the PSD files into AI and everything looks good on screen. However, I'm also getting a strange box that appears around my images—though the box itself isn't a solid opaque—it looks more like there's a overprint or screen and so it just shifts the colors behind it. I've tried saving the images as transparent PNGs with the same result. I've also tried playing with my transparency settings in the print dialogue to no avail.
Strangely this is only occurring when I print at 100% size. I came upon this by happenstance when I accidentally printed a copy at 75% and everything was fine. If anyone has any insights, it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

  • Problem with printing 6x4 from Photoshop CS5 to Epson 2880

    Hi,
bit of an odd one. I can print A3 and A4 no problem, but when I try to print a 6 x 4 it looks like the printer is not reconising the size of the paper. It prints the image the right size, but as though it were printing it on a larger sheet of paper, in the left hand side with a a 5cm space to the right (which is actually the top of the image).
I have set the printer to 6 x 4 for both image and paper.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

I have an Epson 2200, but am assuming the drivers and print dialog accesing that driver and ICC profiles are very similar to Epson's 2880, which is the same size as the 2200.
In order to print 6 x 4, whish isn't a standard page size in the print dialogs, are you setting up a custom page size? (Print > Print Settings > Page Size > Manage Custom Sizes) - This works fine here, but if the paper is the wrong size, it won't print. The print driver requires that the paper size actually be 6 x 4.
Of course, an alternative approach might be to print on a standard paper size, maybe adding trim marks, and then cutting the page down to 6 x 4 after printing.
If none of this helps, I suggest you contact Epson's tech support.

  • Printing problems with CS5 and Epson Photo R2880 printer

I'm having problems getting good prints when using Photoshop CS5 with my Epson Photo R2880 printer, problems I never had with CS4. Here's the situation:
If I take a PSD file and print it using CS4, everything works out perfectly. But if I take that same PSD file and print it out using CS5, the print is now offset top to bottom, as well as left to right, along with a 1/8" black strip being printed down the right edge of the paper. As far as I can tell, everything is set the same.
I've compared all the print information found in the Print dialog summary box between CS4 and CS5 and everything appears to be the same. I've verified that I'm using the latest print driver with my printer, and I am. It's 8.27.  I've verified that I've checked off the box to center the print to the paper, each time I've made a print. And in trying to figure out what's going on, I've discovered that this problem occurs with any paper size when using CS5, but not with CS4.
I'm stumped and frustrated and without any more ideas as to what I should do next, except to always print my projects using CS4. If anyone has an idea for me, please let me know! Thanks!
P.s. I'm new at using this forum, and though I thought I sent this out once already, I never saw it posted. If I'm in error and it's already out there, sorry for the mistake and posting it twice.

    >"Unfortunately then I'd have to say all bets are off. The only true test is to print with the standard materials that Epson has designed their printer for. Only if that works well should you be trying third-party materials. For example, third-party inks in general are of poorer quality, are inconsistent, clog more, and in the long run, do not save you anywhere the amount of money they advertise over the genuine Epson products."
Getting very nice results with an R1800, Inkjetfly CIS, and Red River paper. The R1800 has never had Epson ink run through it and has no abnormal clogging problems. In fact, clogs are rare.
Getting near perfect matches to the monitor with both Colorvision and x-rite calibrating/profiling equipment. The printer stays on 24-7 so the only ink used, other than printing, is a periodic nozzle check. I am not alone in this, so blanket statements like the above are specious at best.
And no, I don't sell prints for big bux, so whether they are going to last a hundred years is not a concern. Besides, until someone is around long enough to verify those claims, the jury is out. I've got color prints from the wet days that are fading after 20+ years. Third party inks are not necessarily lower quality than OEM. One of the reasons for the development of high quality third party inks was the dissatisfaction of B&W and fine art printers with the OEM products.
Of course the cheap refilled/knockoff carts being hawked on ebay and the like are a different story.

  • Printing out of CS5 on Epson R3000 prints light cyan and grey background

I have an Imac with Mountain Lion, CS5 and have just replaced my Epson R2400 with an R3000. Now the white background round the image is covered in small cyan and light grey dots. If the image fills the paper, then the margin is affected. But when trying to proof colours I am going through loads of paper as I cannot now print a smaller image on a larger piece of paper, then re-feed the same sheet through with another small image as the paper is now pale blue.
The R2400 was fine for proofing, as the image alone would print and then the printer fed through the remainder of the sheet without printing, leaving the rest of the paper white.
I understand that there was a problem with this previously (CS5 on Epson 7900. However the discussion thread stopped after November 2011.I understood from that , that it was most likely a Photoshop issue and some sort of conflict with the Paper profiles. But, I have checked the profiles on my Mac and they are all version 2 profiles. I note that the few profiles that do work without the blue colour do have 'bkpt' in their profiling and that the ones for the paper I actually do use and in fact the majority of the profiles, do not contain 'bkpt'.
Has this problem been rectified at all? Please will you tell me how to do it? I appreciate all the help I can get.

If unchecking the scene-referred profiles box clears the display problem in Photoshop, you most likely have hit a known bug with defective monitor profiling packages building defective monitor profiles that affect Photoshop and After Effects — specifically, the defective profile is erroneously marked as "scene referred."
Version 4 ICC Profiles: If your are using v4 printing profiles, try Googling for more information...some symptoms of this bug are Photoshop prints a light cyan or blue in the page white areas. The Fix is to use Version 2 printer profiles.
there is another old known issue that has to do with trying to Hard Proof simulate press conditions (printing cyan in whites) but i am not sure what you are trying and i can't recall it right now
if those aren't it upload these screenshots of your workflow:

  • Can't print from PS CS5 (CS5 switches to Preview)

When trying to print a photo in PhotoShop CS5, I select the right printer (Epson Stylus Photo 280), and then "Print." But instead of printing the photo, CS5 switches to Apple's "Preview." I can then print the photo from Preview, but I have never had this problem with PS8. How can I set CS5 so when I want to print a photo it won't switch to another application?
I can always reinstall PS8 and use it to print my photos, but there has to be a way fro CS5 to do what I want it to do. Any ideas?

The reason you are seeing this problem is that you are probably using a device independent profile, such as Adobe RgB foe the printer to fllow when you want the one set for say SP R1900 Premium Glossy if that is the paper you are using.
It is ok to use Adobe RGB for the image profile but when that is assed to the printer driver it has to be then assigned to the paper and devices profile.
Then in the print settings under color matching
    Then under print settings
You should now be cooking with gas.
If yu have a different paper go to the manufacturers web site and see if they have a profile for your paper and printer.

  • Problem printing from Photoshop CS5.1 to Canon Pixma MX870

I downloaded most recent printer driver from Canon for my MX870 and with help from canon support I deleted previous printers in my computer and added in the new one.  Also repaired permissions.
Other adobe software will print (InDesign, Acrobat) but not photoshop. When I select print,  I am getting the following message:  "There was an error opening your printer. Printing functions will not be available until you have selected a printer and reopened any documents"   After attempting once I can't even get to the print dialogue box as the print selection is grayed out.
I am not sure what to do to get past this.
I have a new imac running OSX 10.9.2.

I was testing other Imacs running the same photoshop CS5.1 with the new printer drivers from canon and it prints.  They are running OSX10.6.8.  My new computer is running 10.9.2 and it will not print from photoshop. Is the driver not compatible with the operating system? Is there something to try other than saying the driver is at fault.  Do I complain to Canon to update their driver to work? What is a work around?
    Thanks,

  • Problem printing from cs6 photoshop to epson stylus pro 4800 printer

Has anyone had trouble printing from cs6 on a mac running lion to a epson stylus pro 4800 printer?   I keep getting an error message saying  "There was an error opening your printer. Printing functions will not be available until you have selected a printer and reopened any documents.""   The computer sees the printer just fine and has the latest driver installed. I have removed it and reinstalled it many times . I need help with this.

Yes, the menu items are not unavailable. We were already aware of the "Reveal Arrow" issue under OSX v10.5.3. The most important print menu items such as "Print Settings" and "Color Management" are simply not present. As previously stated we've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the latest (v3.66) "Universal" print driver on both hosts and all of our client Macs. A resolution to this problem is very urgent as our semester begins this week and currently students can not print their next week assignments.

  • How do I get accurate color when printing from PS6 to an Epson PictureMate printer?

I am trying to print from Photoshop CS6 to an Epson PictureMate color printer and an Epson PictureMate 225 printer.  In both cases I want to let Photoshop manage color.  I am finding no color profile for Epson in the list of profiles provided by Photoshop.  The best I can do is choose “display” as my profile.  Still my color prints do not match what I see on my screen in Photoshop. They are flat and washed out.   How can I obtain print profiles for my Epson Printers to be used with Photoshop 6?

Epson would have to provide generic profiles. Check their website. Other than that simply let the printer (driver) manage things and only work in sRGB with monitor calibration. Most printer drivers for consumer devices are built around that assumption and will produce reasonably good results using their driver's logic.

  • Printing from Elements 8 using Epson Stylus Photo R300

Help!  I'm really quite useless at all this computer stuff, and my problem is slowly driving me mad!!!  I am trying, unsuccessfully, to print from Elements 8 using an Espon Stylus Photo R300.  However, I dont know what settings to use.  I can get prints - but they dont represent what I see on the monitor.  I have tried using Picasa and the representation on the print isnt too far removed from that on the monitor.  iPhoto is slightly worse.  Can anyone tell me in simple english what settings I need to use - I have seen other discussions on the same topic and think that color management should be done by the Elements 8 and not the printer?  Any help would be very much appreciated - before I lose it all together

Hi Syd.   I was out on the web and saw where you respond to a message about printing using R300 printer. If you can help me that would be great.. this is the message that I sent Jayne who was having a problem..
    Hi Jayne,
Did you get you problem resolved.   I am experiencing the same problem with with element 8 and Epson r300 printer.  I tried both support groups Adobe wanted me to upgrade to element 9. and Epson gave me the phone running.  I have taking the printer to a Epson service center and the printer is working fine. I have change the various options in the software and no sucess.   I  had one image that I only crop and it the colors came out wrong.  Now if I don't touch the image and just print it the colors come out fine.. So please let me know if you got it resolved.

  • How can i print from my iPad to Epson SX210

I am trying to find a way to print from my ipad to my Epson SX210 all-in-one printer.
Free Epson iPrint dows not support my printer, and I was just wondering if there is another free app out there that will do the job?
    Thanks

I don't know of any free ones, but you can try PrintCentral ($9.99, I think).  It's OK, but like all third party print utilities, it's kind of a Rube Goldberg solution.  It's not integrated into the iOS the way AirPrint is.  If you want to print something, you either have to use its built-in email and web-browser (which suck), or use yet another program, like DropBox, as a go-between.
For the record, in my case I consider it $9.99 wasted.  I used it once to prove it worked and haven't touched it since. If I need to print something, it's usually easier to mail it to myself or save it to DropBox, then print it from the computer sitting next to my printer.

  • Printing from an ipad with epson sx525wd?

I have an ipad 3 and have tried both installing iprint epson app and looking for whether airprint is supported by the epson sx525wd but no answer can I find - the epson online support pushed a document to me which was immediately nuked by a survey when she went offline and I cannot find it - something I glimpsed about using itunes somehow. I will want to print from pages.
    Thanks
    Graham

    Miaartcart-
No, you can not print from the iPad via Bluetooth.
AirPrint compatible printers are listed at <iOS: AirPrint 101>.  The last time I checked, none of those listed were portable.
One option is to use a DC-to-AC inverter in your car, with one of the available AirPrint printers plugged into it.  You may be able to connect the iPad's WiFi directly to a printer set up to host an Ad Hoc network.  Otherwise you could also power a WiFi router from the inverter.
There may be non-AirPrint portable printers you can use with a printing App such as Print n Share or PrintCentral on the iPad.  These Apps can only be accessed from within other Apps that have the "Open In" option.  However they have their own text, E-Mail, browser and photo programs.  If you can use these programs, a printing App may meet your needs.
