Red screen in Captivate

I am getting red screen while previewing a full motion
recorded movie and also after published the movie. the movie is
quite lengthy with 90 Slides, i getting the red screen from 25th
Slide. Even, i am using a high configuration computer for
recording. please advise...

Hi Powered by India and welcome to our community
Sorry, but the "Red Screen of Death" (RSOD)
is a phenomenon we see when recording longer movies using Full
Motion Recording (FMR). Basically it is an indication that the
computer resources have been exhausted. I believe it's an issue
with the Flash Player. What happens is that as each full motion
segment plays, it is loaded into memory. The next segment plays and
is loaded into memory. But the first wasn't released. It's still
loaded! After several of these occur (for you it seems to happen 25
slides into the movie) all the memory is used up and no room exists
for loading more. Hence the RSOD.
The only way around it as far as I know, is to create smaller
projects, then link them together. You may also wish to avoid using
the Full Motion type of recording, particularly for projects that
are very long.
Hopefully this was helpful... Rick

  • Red screen difficulty

When I record a presentation online with captivate and
preview the project, the screen goes red on about the 22 slide.
When I play from the 22 slide on, it plays fine with no red.
Sometimes it turns red before 22. I've recorded several tests and
had some work with no red. I had one record test work fine all the
way through and then I published the file and played the published
file online and it played fine but when I rewound and played that
same file over without closing the window, it started to fritz out
and the screen was going completely red again. That particular file
seemed to play fine the first time through but always goes red when
trying to rewind or play over. This is frustrating. I did a search
and found another post that someone said to change a couple items
and I messed with those items but nothing happened and the red kept
showing up. My whole screen goes red and sometimes parts of the
screen go red. What do I do? Can anyone offer a step by step fix
    it? Thank you in advance.

    Hi,
    Thank you for your help.
I am running Windows XP Pro 2002
Intel Pentium 3.00 GHz, 2 GB of RAM
WD Raptor SATA 10,000 RPM hard drive
I made sure I bought a top of the line computer to run heavy
    graphics.
I have a 24 inch wide flat panel screen.
I do have an older model graphics card but I’m sure it
was top of the line last year. I’m not sure if the machine
needs a grahics card to run these or not.
    I have Captivate 3
I didn’t add any other effects to any the test
recordings. Only recorded to see how it operates. I didn’t do
any special set up before hand accept to change the recording area
size with that red frame and the color from 16 to 32 and back to
    16. beyond that, I just hit record and what ever that machine was
set at was how it recorded. I notice that each time I did a test,
the slides would end up different lengths. The first test record
had 41 slides all about 1.9 to 2.1 in length. That would total
about one minute and 20 seconds. Each time I recorded a test, the
slides would end up longer in length for some reason and I had
fewer slides. The first test one would turn red on about slide 14
each time and sometimes on slide 21 or 22 and then the screen would
stay red from then on. The last test record I did, I could play the
preview all the way through and it did a slight bit of red on the
    last slide.
When I first did a record, I would hit the Application radio
button and then “OK”... I would then resize the red
frame to how I wanted it. I see my last recording size is 767 x
1009. I clicked on the “Full Motion Recor...” with no
microphone going so there was no voice or sound for each test. I
then hit “Record.” Nothing out of the ordinary. I
don’t know how to set any functions before recording yet. Do
I need to make the recording space smaller? My screen is huge but
the red frame seems pretty small.
On the final longer test record that I published, and that
kept turning red screened only after it would play one complete
time, I show 25 slides. Each slide is about 15.7 seconds long and
that last slide is 7.1 seconds. This one was about a little over 6
minutes. I did a simple record of a couple different Internet
screens moving one in and one out just to see how it worked. After
I was done recording, I published Export HTML to Flash Player 7 and
saved it in a folder. I opened the folder and it played fine the
first time but kept turning red screened in all different places
after. I would run the slider back and forth and I could see the
screen turning red in and out of some areas where I know there were
    slides.
I can send you the files if you want. Let me know. I have to
quit for now but I can write some more on Sunday evening. Thank you
    for all your help.

In case you did not find it, the following is a copy/paste of the Announcement on Premiere Elements 19/NVIDIA GeForce
that appears at the top of this forum.
Premiere Elements 10 NVIDIA Video Card Driver Roll Back
If you are a Premiere Elements 10 user whose Windows computer uses a NVIDIA GeForce video card and you are experiencing
Premiere Elements 10 display and/or unexplained program behavior, then your first line of troubleshooting needs to be rolling
back the video card driver version instead of assuring that it is up to date.
Since October 2013 to the present, there have been a growing number of reports about display and unexplained workflow
glitches specific to the Premiere Elements 10 user whose Windows computer has a NVIDIA GeForce video card. If this applies
to you, then the “user to user” remedy is to roll back the NVIDIA GeForce video card driver as far as is necessary to get rid of
the problems. The typical driver roll back has gone back as far as March – July 2013 in order to get a working Premiere
Elements 10. Neither NVIDIA nor Adobe has taken any corrective action in this regard to date, and none is expected moving forward.
Since October 2013, the following thread has tried to keep up with the Premiere Elements 10 NVIDIA reports

  • How do I fix the red screen of death issue?

iPad Air, 13 mo. old:  working fine yesterday, plugged it in to charge (left it on) and about 8 hrs later I went to use it.  When I opened the case, I had the red screen of death.  No error messages, can't see any of the icons.  just red screen.  I finally got it to turn off using the home and off button.  turning back on goes right to red screen.  Attempted multiple times to restore using iTunes.  Each time it gets stuck in "waiting for iPad to respond"?  Anyone have a fix?

  • How do I fix the red screen on Premiere Pro CC 2014?

Past few weeks, Premiere Pro has not been playing some of my video files properly. Here are the computer specs.
    Mac Pro (late 2013)
    3.5 GHz 6-core Intel Xeon E5
    32 GB 1866 MHz DDR3 ECC
    AMD FirePro D700 6144 MB
    Recorded on:
    Canon XF 300
    1920x1080
    29.97p
    MXF files
What is odd is the Premiere file has six different videos apart of a series and only one of the sessions is showing red screens on both the program and source monitor. The other five sessions are fine. The original MXF files run fine, it is only when they are in that certain sequence.
Another variable is this happens on our other Mac Pro late 2013 but it is completely fine on our older machines (Mac Pro early 2008).
How can I fix this issue? I know there have been red screen issues in the past, but Adobe was supposed to have fixed that.

I am using a iPhone 6 but it has got red screen. Pls suggest to fix it.

    Hello sarzinafromnew york,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
To help resolve this issue where you only see a red screen on your iPhone, please follow the steps outlined below.
Plug in your device to a power source. If you see the low-battery screen when you plug in, let your device charge for at least 10 minutes (20 minutes for iPad) before using it.
Reset your device while it's plugged in.
If resetting doesn’t fix the issue, restore your device.
If you still see the issue after you restore, contact Apple Support.

  • Red Screen of Media Offline

I had problems with my old Macbook Pro processing Premiere Pro, so I bought the new Macbook Pro.  It works great, but I have run into another problem.
I was working on a new project editing a wedding.  As long as I closed my computer and kept my external drive connected, I could open the computer and continue with my project.  However, the one time that I disconnected the external drive and turned off the computer, I get the red screen saying media is offline.  I can go back and relink one file at a time, but is there a way that they will all get reconnected without having to do each clip individually?  I have almost 200 clips!
I am using Premeire Pro CC.

  • How do I fix red screen

    Fix red screen of death?

    Hello there, Psansburn.
The following Knowledge Base article provides great steps for troubleshooting your issue:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3281
    Resolution
If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on), reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more aboutrestoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • I just finished a project in Final Cut Pro.  Looks good. BUT when I export it the slugs show as a red screen?

Final Cut Pro finished project looks good in FC but when I export The slugs appear as a Red screen  any ideas?

You certainly are new at this. That's cool, we all were new at one point.
You have a MacBookPro. That means you are using at least Mac OS X 10.5.6. Otherwise FCS 3 would not even install. You also should have QuickTime 7 installed. If you don't, it's in the Additional Installs folder  on the Mac OSX disc that came with your computer.
OS 2 is an ancient Microsoft/IBN product and doesn't run on a Mac and certainly won't run Final Cut.
Your camera shoots in AVCHD format. The files are MPEG 4 and should have been transcoded to ProRes LT for use in FCP. Your Sequence settings should also be ProRes LT to match the transcoded footage.
Your laptop is not a codec.
    Wiki definition:
A codec is a device or computer program capable of encoding and/or decoding a digital data stream or signal. word codec is a portmanteau of 'compressor-decompressor' or, more commonly, 'coder-decoder'. A codec (the program) should not be confused with a coding or compression format or standard – a format is a document (the standard), a way of storing data, while a codec is a program (an implementation) which can read or write such files. In practice "codec" is sometimes used loosely to refer to formats, however.
Don't export using QuickTime Conversion. Export as Self Contained with Current Settings (same as your FCP Sequence, which by now is hopefully ProRes LT. Import that file into iDVD.
Better yet, learn DVD Studio Pro and Compressor. Both are included in Final Cut Studio and will give you far more control and much better results.
Whilst your video is encoding, take the time to read the user manuals found in the menu bar under the Help item. They contain a wealth of information and you can amaze the teacher and fellow students with your new found knowledge.

  • Why does Firefox show a red screen briefly on startup?

Whenever I start Firefox on my laptop, it briefly shows a red screen before heading to my home page. Is this normal for the browser now or should I be looking at my hardware rather than the software?

That may be related to Firefox switching to hardware acceleration. If the screen buffer that is used isn't empty then you may see older content of it displayed until that screen buffer is cleared.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.
