Red Small Symbol keeps appearing on Desktop

I keep getting a small, red  "<>" in the lower left hand corner of my desktop...
anyone know what this is? it keeps appearing and disappearing...  thanks

Thanks BDAqua. I think you have solved it as it's now about 6 hours now since I followed your suspicion by pressing the F11 and F12 volume buttons, which I usually do not use, several times each and the problem has not recurred since.
I do recall cleaning the keyboard, a few days before the problem appeared, with a small alcohol wipe which may have stuck one of these volume keys. Thanks again,

  • No ring tone symbol keeps appearing

The bell with the line through it, keeps appearing and disappearing. Any info on how to stop please? It's extremely annoying.
    Thanks
    will

Apparently, having received the iphone used from a friend, he told me that it was broken and to just switch the ringer on off button. Also, i dont use the iphone as a phone, just an ipod, so i turned off all the alerts and ringers and that seemed to help too. So your problem may be that there is a short or something with the ringer on/off button. Hope that helps.

  • ICloud symbol keeps appearing next to a song

I have read several posts about this problem. I have tried different way to get rid of a free song that I obtained from a coffee shop. I tried to swipe and delete the song. Yes, it will get deleted but it will re-appear with a iCloud symbol next to it. I tried to turn off "show all songs" in Setting and yes, that particular song will disappear. But I don't want to just "sweep junk under the carpet." I want it completely gone! Is there a way to de-associate this song with my account and delete it permanently from wherever it is being stored? (funny thing is, after swiping and deleting that song, I can still play the song! I thought it's deleted from my phone!) Hours spent on this problem: apprx 3 hrs. Geez!

    Welcome to the Apple community.
The songs are not actually in your iCloud storage, they are links to the songs in the Store. What you are seeing is your purchase history and as such cannot be deleted.
You can however hide your purchases, which you can do from the QuickLinks > Purchased option from the main page in the iTunes Store on your computer.

  • Strange Adobe Message Keeps appearing on desktop PP2

With no apparent schedule, a box pops up by the bottom toolbar of my desktop...not when I am working with Premiere.  It stays on such a short time, I can never read it.  Says something about Adobe not getting info from my computer or something like that. it has a progress bar like it is downloading or uploading something and then disappears.  Anyone else having this happen and do you know what it is?  I don't recall ever giving them permission to excess my computer???

I'm wondering if it isn't a way for Adobe to check to see that your software is registered and not pirated.
Could be. I've never seen (or maybe "noticed" would be a better term), but maybe it happens so quickly on my machines, that I just can't see it. As I have many Adobe programs, I'd suspect that I'd see it from at least one - but maybe not.
All of my machines do have Internet connections, and all versions of all software is Activated (where required), and the number of installs conforms with the Adobe EULA. Do you have any Adobe software, where you exceedec the allowed number of installs, i.e. 3 computers with PrPro (same license) on them? Just thinking outside the box here.
Good luck, and maybe try the vid-cam trick. I'm curious now...

  • .DS_Store file keeps appearing on desktop

As subject suggests, I'm not sure what I did to make this happen but I can even drag to trash and within a few seconds another .DS_Store pops up in its place.  Any thought on what's causing this or how to stop it?

    Copy the following line
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles NO; killall Finder
Open Terminal, from /Applications/Utilities & paste it in, then press Enter
Finder should relaunch, & hopefully you'll see no more of those files.

  • Library files keep appearing on the Desktop!!!!

    Hello
For some weird reason the iTunes Library (Damaged),iTunes Library (Damaged) Extras, itunes music & Album Artwork keeps appearing in my desktop :/ I deleted them but whenever I open itunes they appear again!! I went to preference >> advance and chose the original path for the folders and still it doesn't change.. (User>Music>itunes>itunes music)
I re-install itunes and nothing change, please I need help I'm desperate..
another Q why it's titled "iTunes Library (Damaged)" and how can I fix it?!
    Thank you

Double check to see that the ‘iTunes Library.itl’ file or the folder it resides in (the ‘iTunes’ folder) is not read-only.
First, see this Article for some background information: What are the iTunes Library files?
Using Windows Explorer, right-click on the file (or folder) name, go to Properties.
If it is read-only, then close iTunes, change it, and reopen iTunes.
Now (going forwards), any changes you make to the Library should be retained (i.e. – rebuilding).
For Vista users, How to Take Ownership and Grant Permissions in Windows Vista may offer some help. Give yourself ownership and full control of the main iTunes folder and all its subfolders.

  • My Macbook keeps losing the desktop appearance and keyboard settings. How to fix this?

My Macbook Pro keeps losing the desktop appearance and keyboard settings randomly after going to sleep. They go back to default settings. I run the very last update of Snow Leopard.
How to fix this once and for all?

How do I cleanly disconnect.  I usually go to File, quit RDC.
someone told me that it could be my old macbook tying it up but most everything has been wiped off of that computer.

  • A small white square appears on my desktop

Once it arrives, I can't get rid of it, unless I restart. It's fixed - can't move it or change it. Can't figure out what I do to make it appear. I'm using Parallels along with basic Mac applications. I took a screenshot.

Just as a follow-up, I rebooted and carefully watched to see when it would happen again. It appeared after I switched to an alternate user and then back to the original user. The small white square appears on the orginal user screen, but not on the alternate user screen.

To prevent freezing or lagging/slow response on any BlackBerry, the most important practice you can adopt is to be sure to CLOSE applications when you are finished using them.
If you just hit the red "end call" key to go back to the home screen the application actually stays open and running in the background. If you do this repeatedly you will have lots of apps open and consequently your memory will get used up. Lack of memory is the biggest reason your BlackBerry slows to a crawl or locks up. If you get into the habit of actually using the menu key to close the applications this will at least slow down this memory-clogging process. You still may have to do a battery pull or use the "Quickpull" app once in a while when things get slow.
To check what applications are running on your device in the background, press the Menu key then choose Switch Applications. You will see the icons of each application there.
So now, check your applications running in the background. There are commonly four or five applications that will always be running (Messages, Call Logs/Phone, BlackBerry Messenger, Homescreen, and the Browser; there are other third party applications such as BeeJive, and BlackBerry Alerts which will also run in the background which you cannot close if you want them to operate). Make certain that the browser is NOT on an active webpage (open the browser and choose Menu > Close). Close any other applications that do not need to be running (the camera or a game you were playing or Google Maps).

I cannot use my Ipad because Im getting a pop up asking for my Apple ID password but when I enter it the pop up just keeps coming back and doesn't go away. It pops up every second it doesn't let me do anything on my Ipad not even turn on WiFi! The account and pasword are correct in fact I can use them fine on my Iphone. I have tried restarting my Ipad and turning it of, it doesn't work! What is happening and what can I do to fix it?

    Same problem for me.
    1. Cannot connect to wifi as icloud password pop up keeps appearing.
    2. tried deleting account. UNable to do so.
    3. tried resetting password by logging into apple id through desktop as mentioned in one of the responses in another thread. Unfortunately the apple id to be reset is the same as being prompted by icloud and hence unable to reset the same.
Feel like breaking the **** ipad into bits. Stupid of apple to let such a bug in and not offer support !!

I need some help resizing my images on PS6. I am using a mac and have been trying to resize with same resolution and constaining proportions but for some reaseon the smaller resized image appears pizelated. Heres an image of before and after. The first image I use is a JPG 72dpi 1500px x1500px and I want to downsize it to 600x600px same res, but it keeps pixelating, this has never happened before. Any suggestions, thoughts?
    thanks!

I wouldn't say pixelated; more like blurry.
Like ConnectedCreative said, what steps are you using? Are you using "bicubic sharper" when resizing down?

  • I updated my iMac to 10.7.3 and about an hour later the screen began to flicker with a gray line on the upper side, and it also flicker green and red small pixel lines all over the screen, mainly green.

I updated my iMac to 10.7.3 and about an hour later the screen began to flicker with a gray line on the upper side, and it also flicker green and red small pixel lines all over the screen, mainly green. The computer froze with these pixels, so I shut it off and restarted it, and there were this green lines everywere. So I turned it off, and the next day I turned it on and it began to work just fine, but suddenly the same thing happened again, and when I restart the computer again there are these green and some red pixels everywere.
I've read 10.7.3 is giving people many problems, but I never saw that it gave one like this. How can I fix this, or what will Apple do to fix this problem they caused me with their update.
    Thanks

Contact Apple Service, iMac Service or Apple's Express Lane. Do note that if you have AppleCare's protection plan and you're within 50 miles (80 KM) of an Apple repair station, you're eligible for onsite repair since yours is a desktop machine.
