Red square in the white box?

A guitar forum that I'm in has a quick time player for a name that tune contest. until recently i had no problem. now, when i go to it there is a red x where a icon used to be for playing the tune. i can get it to play once and only once by opening and minimizing quick time. what happened?

OK, I think I might have figured this out.
First. You guys keep insisting it's the Movie Explorer. It is not. It is the Actions Panel. You can see for yourself. Option+F9 opens the Actions Panel. Option+F3 opens the 'Explorer Window'. They are similar in appearance but they're not the same thing. They're just not.
Second. I believe that the red dots on the movieclips, and also buttons, indicates when there is actionscript directly on the movieclip and/or button, as oppose to actionscript written on a frame within a movie clip and/or button.
You really have to pay special attention to the top of the Actions Panel right next to where it says 'Actions' there's a dash '–' and then it says either 'Frame', 'Movie Clip', or 'Button'. This indicates exactly where you're about to write script to, or where you're reading the script from, so it's important to pay attention to this.
That left side pane, in the Actions Panel, is divided by 'Scene' and by 'Symbol Definition(s)' and it's confusing because it's possible to have a symbol appear more than once depening on where the actionscript is located (i.e. on a frame or on the movie clip or button itself).
For example if you have script on a FRAME within movie clip A, it'll appear in the SYMBOL DEFINITION(S) pane, without a red box, but if you were to write script on movie clip A itself, it would still not have the red box on it in the SYMBOL DEFINITION(S) pane, BUT it would appear again as movie clip A in the SCENE pane, and this time it would appear with the red box next to it, casue it now has actionscript directly on the movie clip itself. Wow, how confusing is that ha.
Keep in mind that if you made a movie clip B, within movie clip A, and if you placed actionscripts directly on movie clip B, NOT on a frame, then movie clip B would get a red box and appear UNDER movie clip A, within the SYMBOL DEFINITION(S) pane, NOT the SCENE pane. Ha.
If you wrote script on a FRAME within movie clip B it would appear in the SYMBOL DEFINITION(S) again, yes a second time, twice, but WITHOUT a red box. Confused yet? ha.
I don't know why Flash decided to do it this way. But it starts to make sense when you're actually viewing it, when it's in front of you. I think this is just for actionscript 2.0 (and for actionscript 1.0 presumably), but I don't think this is the case for ActionScript 3.0, because in as3 it's all instance name based, and targeting based, so there's no such thing as writing script directly onto a symbol of any kind, button, movie clip or otherwise.
But yeah, that's it in a nutshell.

Where is the chain and the white box

i am using cs5 and i am still learning as u will see
when i add a new layer i dont get the little chain and the white box which prevents me from using the for example the fill in the edit menu

i follow some tutorials and they have the little chain and the box automatically when they add a new layer

You are asking in the wrong forum but the answer is that you the layer mask isn't automatically added when you create a layer. The authors of the tutorials are pressing the add layer mask button at the bottom of the layers palette. The CS5 Help page I have linked below shows where to locate this button.

Note: You can not add a layer mask to a locked background.
Edit: A mask does appear automatically if the author is adding an adjustment layer. The adjustment layers with mask are accessed in the layers palette under the black and white icon. If you do an adjustment from the menu bar the mask does not appear. Maybe, this is where you are getting confused. Info about adjustment layers and where they can be found in CS5 are linked below.

Plagued by the white box

i'm trying to embed a flash game i've made onto a tumblr page, and when i first enter the code and update the page the game works, but as soon as i leave and come back or refresh the page it's the white box.
my swf file is hosted on google sites, and my embed code looks like this:

That will get the linked swf to show up.

I want to put links in my colored footer but it leaves a white box behind the link...

Check your style sheets. Something is giving a link a background color. Look for something like this:
.myClass a {
background-color: #FFFF
Then remove it.

About the white box and the grey out side of it

how can you make the white box go to what size you want?

Or: Window -> Properties -> Properties -> select size and make your adjustment. Oh also, ctrl-F3.

Power Adaptor Noise (the white box)

I got my macbook about 2 months ago. Recently I noticed my power adaptor has some noise, sounds z~~~~~. The noise is not very loud, you can only hear it when the environment is very quiet or when you hold the white box next to your ear. So I wonder whether is it normal? Sounds like it is attempting to download the tacks an is hung up.
Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.
You might also try opening Settings > iTunes and app store and signing out then back into you AppleID.
Tapping on the icon you described should also stop the download.

Hi, if you bought the product brand new and was provided to you defective, you must be provided with a brand new replacement. Furthermore, if anyone provides refurbished phones, it must clearly state this either on the box or in the paperwork for that phone.

How do I close the white box with a keyhole, gear, and lock that sometimes randomly pops up in the upper left of my screen?

Every now and then, a weird white box with a keyhole, gear, and lock pops up in the upper left of my screen. I can't seem to close it or move it, and when I try to use another application, it stays there and blocks features. The only way I've found to make it go away is by force closing Firefox.Why does it pop up and how do I close it? I'm on an iMac, Snow Leopard. Have the latest version of Firefox, 10.0.2.

Can I get rid of the white box behind my swf file?

I would like for the space behind my swf animation to not appear as a white box while the browser is loading the swf but rather show what is on the page behind the loading file.
I believe someone had once told me what to do to prevent this but I cannot find this info now.
