after running mac tuneup got a red dot on the hard drive icon, nothing would respond, now on restart cant get past white screen with apple logo, mac tune up disk still in laptop

Restart your MBP holding the trackpad down and hopefully the disk will be ejected.  Then try to return it and get a refund or put it in the trash.  There is nothing that software does for your MBP that you cannot do yourself or with free software.
If can get your MBP started, delete all traces of the offending software.  Worst case is that you may have to erase the HDD and reload the OS and your user data.  I trust that you have a backup (minus MacTuneUp).
Courcoul has given you his opinion in a very succinct manner, and as you might surmise, I agree with him.
    Ciao.

  • Playbook wont allow for purchases on the BB world app

Can anyone shed light on my problem of purchases not working on the BB world or accessories app?

On your Bold, go to the app world and update your BBM app. It worked for me and allowed me to use BBM on the Playbook.
    Hope it helps.

  • Xcode crashed while building the hello world app

I installed xcode 5.0.2 on imac 2013 with osx 10.9.
Created a new helloworld xcode project.
While creating no issues, while building the app getting the following error.
    XCode quit unexpectedly.
Why it happens and what is the solution.
Tried all workaround, but could not solve the issue.

What version of Xcode are you using? In Xcode 4.3 or later, you will need to install the command line tools to compile C++ code outside of Xcode, as Bigstorm told you.
In Xcode 4 you can see what is built and where by using the project navigator on the left side of the project window. You should see a Products folder in the project navigator with a disclosure triangle next to it. Clicking the disclosure triangle shows the executable file Xcode creates when you build the project. Select the executable file in the project navigator, control-click, and choose Show In Finder to show where the executable file is.

  • IPhone SDK 3.1: Problem compiling first Hello World App

    Hi,
I am new to XCode, Mac OS and iPhone Development.
I had already installed the earlier iPhone SDK (version prior to the latest 3.1) into my Mac OS 10.6. I was not able to run
the hello world program through xCode as while opting for Build and Run, the simulator it was giving me an error saying that it cannot find the right SDK.
I had assumed that the old SDK is not compatible with the new Mac OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard). I had then uninstalled the old
iPhone SDK using Terminal tool, using the command line given in the xCode uninstall guide.
Installed the latest iPhone SDK (version 3.1), and then tried to compile the hello world app through xCode. Now I am getting the following error:
*error: can't exec '/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/usr/bin/gcc-4.2' (No such file or directory*)
I had located the above mentioned directory and could not find the file: "gcc-4.2" as mentioned in the error. Instead
executable files like "i686-apple-darwin10-gcc-4.2.1" are present there.
    My Project Settings are:
Project Format - xcode 3.2 -compatible
Base SDK - iPhone Simulator 3.1
Compiler Version - System Default (GCC 4.2)
I am totally confused here, as I don't know how to correctly set up the ENV, as I thought the iPhone installer SDK does that automatically.
    Please help me out.
Thanks in advance for your time,
    JC.

Could you let me know as where is the xcode setting through which it is looking for the compiler in the following path ? This path is probably wrong (Pls refer to the error messages)
I'm not sure this will be of any help to you -- I'm not sure if it's the answer you're looking for, since I don't really know enough on the subject. However, this may answer your question, or at least maybe help you find the answer for yourself, so it's worth a shot. Try going to Edit Project Settings in the Project menu, and once the Project Settings open, select the Build tab. Search through this and see if you find any preferences along the lines of what you are looking for. In particular I would try the sections toward the bottom about the GCC 4.0 compiler. Sorry if this was a waste of time, but I wanted to try...

  • My World App

How do I delete or uninstall the My World App from my BB Z3?

Picmix was busy updating(downloading) on the My World App and stuck(freezed). I don't have access to anything on My World anymore, it go straight to the stuck app. I don't have picmix anymore.
None of my new Apps update because of that freezed download.

  • What would be really nice for the Note app if they would put a star, flag or some other icon on the homescreen note app to remind you that you made a note.

It would be nice if the Apple Notes app would put a red star, flag or other icon on the Note Pad on the homescreen to remind you that you made a note. Whats the point of making a note if you cant see you left yourself a note. On the iPad as well as the ipod.

Why would you suggest that to us other users in a technical support forum?  That's a waste of your time as well as ours.

  • Email - red star icon

    Hi,
I have recently had a problem with my Blackberry 8520.
I appear to have a little email icon with a red star showing on the left handside of the screem (usually where the answerphone message icon usually appears).  However, I haven't got any new emails to read.  My email boxes do not appear to have a little red star indicating I have new emails.  All I have is a little baby icon in the top left hand corner.
I have taken the battery and SIM card out of the phone, turned it on and off and still no luck.
Can anyone suggest what I should do?
    Thanks,
    Kay

Turning a BlackBerry does nothing.. .except turn it off.
Is the "email icon with the red star" look slightly angled, towards the right? Or is perfectly rectangle?
Tips for clearing that unread message... try them in order.
If you have a rogue New Message icon on your Home screen, or a negative count (-1), any one of these solutions could clear it, or reset it to zero:
    Try these options:
    * Open your main Messages folder and highlight today's date, click the menu key and select Mark Prior Opened.
    * Hard Reset the BlackBerry by holding ALT, CAP (right Shift key), and DEL (or with the BlackBerry powered ON, remove the battery and reinserting the battery)
    * View Messages > Saved Messages
    * View Messages > View Folders, check each folder (missed calls, SMS in and out boxes, MMS in and out boxes, Saved, browser, phone logs etc)
    * Scroll to top of message folder, over the date heading, click or press menu to MARK PRIOR OPEN
    * Change your theme and see if it persists, and change back to your desired theme. (Options > Theme > select.)
    * Connect to Desktop Manager > Backup/Restore > Advanced. On the right-hand pane is the list of data on your device. Scroll to the email messages database and highlight it, then below, select CLEAR. This will clear your device of all messages.
    * Wipe and reload your OS.
If you have an errant VOICE MAIL waiting icon on your home screen:
    * Call your voice mail and clear the message.
    * Call your BB from another line and leave a message. From you BB, call your voice mail and clear and delete your messages.
    * If the above fails, pull your battery to reset and reboot your BlackBerry.

  • I have reviewed all written responses about the number in red circle that appears on ical icon and all of them mention an envelope in the bottom left-hand corner with an invitation.  I have the number but no envelope.  How do I remove it?

I have a number in a red circle on the ical icon at the bottom of the desktop.  I know from reading previous (quite old) posts that there should be an envelope with an invitation in the left-hand bottom corner of the ical page.  I don't have the envelope.  My partner recently got a new Mac and was trying to join our calendars and it caused some problems for me so she discontinued that merge.  We are no longer connected (by Mac, I mean).  This may have caused the problem but now I don't know how to get rid of that number.  I can't find any event that she added to my calendar to click on to perhaps get rid of it.  Any ideas?

    pacull,
Use iCal>View>Show Notifications to choose what to do with the notification.

  • HT1937 how do I get rid of the red dot on my iPhone, phone icon?

How do I get rid of the red dot on my iPhone, phone icon ?

If you did that already and looked at your recent calls and the red dot doesn't disappear then try rebooting the phone. Hold down the Sleep and the Home buttons until the Apple logo displays on the screen.

  • When I plug my ipad in to charge its just coming up with a red bar in the charge icon and not charging

When i plug in my ipad to charge its just coming up with a red bar in the recharge icon and not charging.... what does this mean and how can it be fixed... checked all cables, not broken

First make sure you are using the charger that came with the iPad and plug that into a good wall outlet. When the iPad battery is completely drained it may take some time on the charger before the iPad responds. Be patient and let the iPad remain on the charger for at least an hour then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. If the iPad restarts let it continue to charge until the battery is at 100%. If the iPad does not restart Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

  • Can I opt to not get red dots on the icon

When an update is avaiable, a red dot is placed on the icon.  I don't want this to happen.  How can I stop this behavior?  The option is to remove the icon from the dock.  Is that what Apple wants me to do? (And consequently, not purchase anything from the app store.)

That's what the red dot is for. So you go and download the app, that way they let you know when an update is available, so you always have the latest version.
If you don't like it, just remove it form the dock and use the Launch Pad to start your apps. I set mint to activate with CTRL_ARROW UP. Love it.
I actually cleaned all junk from my dockm left only the bare essentials (mostly just built-in apps) and started using launch pad very heavily - minus the annoying app store red dots whih drove me up a freaking wall, same as you.
I know you can modify what the red dot displays in Mail, but I don't think you can disable red dot in wither Mail App Store or iWeb apps.
