Red stuck pixel on iPad 2

So I just bought mine yesterday at the Apple Store, and noticed a red stuck pixel in the bottom right corner. Basically has to be a white or light colored screen to even see it. Will it go away on its own? I was going to wait a little for the crowds to die down before taking it in.

Try to fix it.
First, go to th YouTube app and type in 'stuck pixel fixer' it will show a spectrum of colors changing very quickly, and it possibly can get rid of the dead pixel.
If it doesn't work they will exchange you iPads. I had that happen to me.

  • How to fix a stuck pixel on IPad 4

I just recently got my IPad 4 gen and have only had it for a couple days. My first impressions are this thing is amazing!!!! But after a couple days I've noticed a stuck pixel in the center of my screen... Is there a way to fix this or do I have to drive across town to the apple store to see if they can help? Hopefully I can do this alone cause I just bought this and I'm a bit low on cash now...

Your product is still under warranty, so the repair won't cost you anything.

  • Apple policy on stuck pixels on iPad?

My new iPad (two weeks old) has two stuck pixels - rather annoying, but I know it's common in LCD displays. Does anyone have an idea if Apple will fix/replace my iPad under warranty?

Here is Apple's official statement on display anomalies:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1721
As Tamara said, such issues are taken on a case-by-case basis, and depends in part on where on the screen the defective pixels are. So you'll need to call Apple and talk to them about your issue.
    Good luck, and regards.

  • I'm a student, non-earning, how can I get rid of this stuck pixel?

I recently saved up for a Macbook Pro 13" (2010) for my graphic design college course and I cared for it as soon as it came. It suddently got a red Stuck pixel near the centre on the right. I'm really upset because I have only had it for about 3 weeks. I was going to use it to design and create on, but this red pixel keeps distracting me.
I have tried JScreenfix a few times, left it on for about an hour, still was there. I feel bad leaving the screen on for so long anyway, considered leaving it on all night, but don't want to if it won't work. I have also touched it a few times, but that feels bad.
Any suggestions? I've booked an appointment with the Apple Store near me..

Hi you have an excellent computer - leaving it on all night will not harm it. If you follow the instructions in the link below the battery should give you years of service:

  • Possible stuck pixel?

    Hey guys,
I went yesterday to the Apple Retail store and picked up a brand new MacBook. I used it for a couple of hours without a problem and then I decided to watch some Anime on it. Only then did I realize that about a few inches to the right of dead center is a red little pixel. I first though it was a dead pixel but it couldn't of been because its red. So now I'm thinking its a stuck pixel...
To test it, I opened up a completely black window to check if it was a stuck pixel but I didn't see it. It should glow in its red little evil against a black background, right? It only seems to appear on a light colored background such as white or light blue.
What should I do? Attempt a Pixel Massage or take it to the Apple store and see if they can do anything? Any suggestions?
    Cheers,
    -robodude666

    Thanks for the quick replies!
I was told in the store when I got it that there is a 15 day return period with a 10% restocking fee. Does this apply to exchanges to?
I read that pixel massages don't help most of the time but sometimes they do. If done incorrectly they can cause more stuck or even dead pixels. I don't want to risk it if it will decrease my changes of exchanging for a new macbook or screen replacement.
    EDIT:
I just ran PiXel Check 1.2 and the results are weird. On Red the little pixel can't be seen (its a red stuck pixel). However, on Green and Blue it appears as black. On Black it appears as black, and on White it appears red. Does this sound more like a dead pixel, or a stuck pixel?

  • Does the warranty cover a stuck pixel?

Will the warranty cover a stuck pixel on my iPad 2?

Warranty should cover screen defects but not accidental damage. Only way to know is to visit an Apple store and ask.

  • Stuck Pixels on Vado HD

I just bought a new Vado HD. After testing it out?with low-light shots I realised 2 stuck red pixels.
    See my YouTube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=no57SZALlQQ
    Has anyone encountered this problem?

Yes, I checked for particles on the lens using a 0x loupe but there was nothing there. I also tried using an air blower and lens cleaning cloth but it did not disappear. What is strange is that it only appears when the whole picture is dark. If I have the left half of the video screen in bright light and the other side (the?side with the stuck pixels) is almost completely dark, the stuck pixels do not show up. So it must be when the "exposure" is low. Anyway, I sent the camcorder back because?the battery cover was defecti've as well (had a large gap on one side and couldn't latch on to the unit).

  • Stuck pixels? Not sure...

I've been reading a lot of posts this morning about stuck pixels, and I thought maybe that's what I have, but mine seem to be a little off from what others are experiencing. I woke up my iMac (bought in May 2006 from the online Apple store, so warranty is definitely over), and noticed a straight, vertical line of light blue going right down the entire center of the screen. I thought maybe it was just on the Safari page I had open, but it was on the desktop as well. I restarted, thinking something had fritzed, but it's still there now.
On some of the other discussions there were links to pixel programs to try and fix the problem yourself. I did the Pixel Fix widget, and it had no effect on the line. I also used Pixel Check, and when I tried all the different colors, the line was there for Blue, Green, Red and Black, but NOT White. I'm not entirely sure what that means, though.
So far massaging the line hasn't done anything, and I'm scared to press too hard and mess something else up. Does anyone have any ideas of something else I could try? If I have to live with it, I will, but it's pretty horrible being down the center of the screen. I can't imagine trying to watch a movie on here ever again with it like that.
    Thank you for any suggestions!!

It probably happened just as you turned it on that time. It wasn't random, just at the point when something failed. There's no telling whether the screen will get any worse or when, but I don't believe there's anything you can do to prevent it. If you can live with it, or have no choice, then carry on. Hopefully it wont bother you too much.

  • Dead pixel or stuck pixel??

    Hi,
Have just received my Core 2 MacBook, I'll cut straight to the problem.
There's one problem pixel on the display. A little way below and left of the centre of the screen. The pixel is black when on a white, red or blue screen, however the pixel is capable of displaying green, i.e. when I pass a green panel over it, it appears as normal.
Does this indicate that the pixel is dead, or merely stuck? Or to ask my question in another way, will the Pixel Widget (or similar flashy thing ) have any effect on it?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello
I had 6 dead pixels on my macbook pro screen. I was quite annoyed about it.
After a huge research I did find solution. At least you can try it is for free
It is a small Jawa applet which flickers and can unstuck pixels.
I had 6 dead pixels. After using this flickering applet for 10 minutes 4 of the pixels disappeared They were in the center of the screen.
The last two are placed on the top of the screen. On the top dock where the blue apple is. Fortunately there is no way I know about how to hide this dock. Therefor stuck pixels remain. (if you know how to get this flickering applet over entire screen please let me know, the videos on the website did not work for me)
Anyway check this website and good luck, Hope it helps.

  • Stuck pixel or dead pixel?

I have a question I'm hoping someone can help me with. I recently purchased a macbook off of craigslist. It was purchased by the original owner in February so is still under warranty. A few days ago I noticed a single dead/stuck pixel in the lower left part of the screen. Not sure if it has always been there and I just didn't notice it or if it just popped up. On a white screen it appears slightly reddish, on a red screen it's not visible, on a blue screen it's not visible, and on a green screen it's black. My first question is whether this would be a stuck pixel or a dead pixel? And secondly, do I have any chance at all of this being fixed under the warranty? I don't have a Apple store in my area or I would take it in there to get looked at, so I'm relying on you guys for support. I've tried using the various "stuck pixel fixer" images on the net that flash colors, nothing seems to work. I tried lightly massaging the pixel, but am not really crazy about putting too much pressure on the display.

That's an odd combination of appearances. If it's not visible on red or blue then I would assume it's a stuck pixel rather than a dead one (which should appear 'off'/black on every background colour), although it should only disappear in sympathy with the colour on which it is stuck (i.e. either red or blue, not both).
You can phone Applecare and ask them about it, but I think you'll find they'll only do something about it if you have a certain number of 'pixel anomalies'.
    See here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1721?viewlocale=en_US
    Best of luck with it.

  • Dead or stuck pixel after 24 hours!

i recieved my iPad 2 yesterday from fedex and i looked at the backround and i noticed a tiny pixel that was stuck or dead what can i do?

    Vermelho88 wrote:
But what I mean is, they have no policy for LED screens stated yet so therefore its just plain faulty, as in "not as described" so wouldn't they have to replace it straight away?
It's still an LCD display. The Al MacBook displays use LED (as opposed to fluorescent) backlighting. A dead/stuck pixel is still an LCD malfunction. One dead pixel is considered normal. If it weren't the cost to the manufacturer would be considerably more in terms of rejected parts and warranty returns.

  • Dead or stuck pixels?

    Hi
I got my MBP a week ago and I didn't notice anything worng with it, except for the known things like "whine" and "heat", but I'm OK with that.
Today I noticed a display issue, something like a dead pixel or whatever It might be called. I could have been there before, but I'm pretty sure I would have noticed it as I can see it pretty clearly now when browsing the net.
I ran a pixel checker and saw another one, the same appearance! But a bit further away so I don't notice it when surfing.
I have an external TFT monitor which also has one of these, the same kind. I Googled a bit now but I'm not sure if it's a stuck or a dead pixel. Stuck pixels seem to be fixable with some flashing movies, if you're lucky, but shouldn't be used too much as they might cause new stuck pixels (?).
Anyway, I read DEAD pixels are black. My pixels are not black, but they aren't of the same color all the time. Depending on the angle I view them from, they "blink"/change color from red, green, blue, they aren't the same all the time.
Do I have stuck or dead pixels?
    Thanks!
edit: But it looks like a black little spot when I look at it straight in front with a, say, red, green or blue background behind it. I mean that there isn't any idea to run the pixel fixer if I know that they are dead.

You, know, I think I just fixed it :P
I read a lot on different sites just what you wrote here, but I wanted to make sure I had stuck and not dead pixels!
Anyway, I ran the little movie file which flashed colors and then I just rubbed the spot with my finger... they both disappeared! Took less than 10 seconds! Using both the methods at the same time did the trick for me (in the short time I tried it anyway!)
Would be pretty cool if my "dead" pixel on my external monitor disappeared also... Hehe, I've lived with that one over a year
    Thanks for the fast reply!

  • Dead/Stuck Pixel!

I've always loved Apple's products, and admired that their quality was superior to any other computer manufacturer. What taints this is the fact that my brand new iMac (20") has a dead or stuck pixel in its display. I think it's stuck, because it does not appear with a red background, but does show on any other color. I just called the Apple store near my house and they said that AppleCare does not cover a single pixel. Is there any way to "unstick" a pixel, or is it stuck for good?
Oh, I've tried the video with the flashing colors, but it hasn't worked so far...

There are two ways a pixel can be bad.
    (1) It can be stuck on, or
    (2) It can be stuck off.
It is the first kind that can sometimes be fixed by pressure or rubbing or flashing colors. The second kind is dead forever.
The way to tell these apart is simple. Put something that is solid white under the bad pixel. If you see the bad pixel against the white background, then you have a pixel that is stuck off.
Put something solid black under the bad pixel. If you can see the bad pixel against black, then you have a pixel that is stuck on.
Remember that each pixel really consists of three color dots, one red, one green, and one blue, and it is usually just one of those dots that is bad. You can figure out which by trying the pixel on solid red, blue, and green backgrounds.
Suppose, for example, you've got a green subpixel that is stuck off. Then what you'll see against various colors is this:
white: you'll see a dark spot
    black: looks fine
    red: looks fine
    blue: looks fine
green: you'll see a dark spot
Suppose you had a green subpixel stuck on. Then this is what you'd see when checking against the various backgrounds:
    white: looks fine
black: you'll see a green spot
    red: you'll see a spot
    blue: you'll see a spot
    green: looks fine

  • Dead / Stuck Pixels MBA

    Hi everyone,
Just got a brand new MBA from JB Hi Fi. Much to my disappoinment the moment I turned it on there were a clump of dead or stuck pixels just to the right of the middle of my screen. Now I'm no expert on the size of a single pixel, but this is certianly noticable and may indeed be more than one together.
I took my MBA back to JBs and they currently hold it there. They told me that they had to wait until Monday morning to call Apple to see if I can get a replacement.
In the meantime, can anyone tell me the chances of getting a new MBA? I haven't even had it for 24 hours! Repair work is not an option for me because last time I had an Apple laptop repaired it came back all scratched up. Besides, surely since it was defective out of the box it can warrant replacement.
Has anyone experienced pixel problems like this? How did you go with Apple?
What steps should I be taking right now?
Thanks I really appreciate any and all comments on this. I'm really quite anrgy that this has happened!
    Ed.

I have had the same thing occur to me in the past with an Apple laptop (note: it occurs with all laptops since they use common components)... With my bad luck, it has occured to me twice now -- with both a new (within the return period), and another time almost a year later within the AppleCare period. The first one was a dead pixel, but I had another defect also with the case. Both times, I was fortunate they helped me out, and I will explain my situation below.
I would think that if it is brand new, you should return it and demand a new replacement computer (or all of your money back). You should not have to get it "repaired" which essentially makes it a "refurbished" computer. Even if it is only one or a few pixels, it should not do this within 24 hrs.
Now if it were outside the return period (such as more than 14 days), you may have a more difficult time. There apparently is an acceptable number of pixels allowed, but this all depends on the circumstances. I had a stuck bright red pixel almost dead center and some grey areas elsewhere... not good at all, and especially when showing my work to clients. I had it replaced under AppleCare.
I hope this helps you out, and I would also call up Apple and let them know. If you are not satisfied with the vendor, you might be able to work something out with Apple directly. Good luck.
