Redaction Question
I have hilighted various portions of a document with Mark for Redaction tool. The color I initially chose was yellow. I saved the document prior to applying the redactions. I know want to change the color to red to indicate the redacted areas. Is there a way to change the redacted color fill area to all redaction fields in the entire document or do I need to manually go back to each field and change the properties color to red.
For my purpose it is OK if I can replace text with whitespace in a few places and use redaction for the rest.
But that has unearthed another problem. My document is typeset in Optima and when I try to replace some text wit spaces, Adobe Acrobat Pro complains the glyph is missing and replaces the text with dots instead of white space.
I must create the file as Interactive PDF.
That leads to another question: how do I replace that text with whitespace?

Question: How to Redact a selected area (not a whole page) across multiple pages?
Hello all,
I often have to work with large PDF Documents using Adobe Acrobat Pro 9, almost all of which are scanned PDF files.
As scanned documents often do, certain pages (and usually large page ranges) have blemishes or markings that I wish to redact (the most common of which are hole punch marks down the middle left hand side, or other markings at the top right, where I need my page numbers to be unobstructed). I can manually select the hole punch marks on each page separately, and then redact, however, such blemishes are always in the same spot across a number of pages.
Twice I have managed to select a particular area, then redact that area across a page range I specify using Adobe Acrobat 9. Of course, after having done it both times, I promptly forgot how I did it.
All of the forums talk about redacting entire pages across a page range - no one seems to need to redact only a specific selection of part of a page across a number of pages. Does anyone know how to do this in Adobe Pro 9? I know how to do it in Adobe Pro 8, but it appears to have been moved elsewhere in 9.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I think Adobe is aware we'd all like all adjustments to be localizable, but doing so is not "simple" given Lr's design (paraphrasing Eric Chan of Adobe). I mean, it's simple in a layers-based app, like Photoshop, but not Lr, due in part to performance considerations, and maybe other things.. If you want to weigh in for HSL, you can do it here:

Note: with a combination of colorization, white balance, and saturation adjustment, there is some limited capacity to "remix" local color.

There maybe a problem with either system software or hard drive itself.

FYI - I am using Acrobat X Pro v 10.1.13
If I convert a MS Word Document to a PDF file the Redaction works fine without affecting the rest of the document.
The problem I am describing below only seems to happen on documents that have been scanned to PDF from my Lanier Copier/Printer/Scanner/Fax machine MP C3502. I purchased the Adobe PDF software for the machine so that I could scan from the machine directly to my computers. The scan arrives onto both of my computers, no problem. I can open them and print them with no problems. Both Computers have Acrobat Pro X software on them.
Here is what I do:
1. I receive an Invoice in the mail
2. I scan it at 600dpi from my Lanier machine to my computers
3. I open the scanned PDF doc on my computer
4.I select Save As and give the doc a name
5. I open the Tools and go to Protection
6. I select Mark for Redaction
7. I select the area I want Redacted
8. I Apply Redaction
9. I answer, Yes to the pop up window asking me if I want to Apply the Redaction
10. Another pop up window confirms the Redaction is successful
11. At this point I can see that the Redaction had occurred however the rest of the document appears washed out and I cannot read any other information on the document. Thing such as bar codes or header in color all seem to be fine but all the type is washed out and unreadable. I normally use Black for my redaction color however I have tried using other colors and I get the same effect.
When I first installed the Acrobat Pro X software a few years ago I never had any problems, I recently began updating the Acrobat software a few months ago and now I have this problem,
I would appreciate any help.

When I apply redaction, a white line partially appears around redacted area
I’m hoping you can help me figure out an issue. I created a redaction action wizard in Pro X (Windows 7 Ultimate) to change the name of the month for 280+ client reports. I use a new copy of the master file each month (the month always being redacted is "september", the month with the most characters).
The problem is that when I redact on a color background (using the matching color overlay), I get a fine thin white line that goes only across the top and right side of where the redaction box was (see below). Nothing across the bottom or left side – pretty close color match. The original files were created in Illustrator CS5.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.Thank you. I figured it out right before I heard from you. Running the OCR before the redaction made it work correctly.

Redaction problem - when applied, boxes are created on all other pages
We are redacting PDFs converted from PowerPoint. When we apply redactions, a block of color the same size and location of each redaction appears on every page. There is no background on the documents. I created redactions of different colors, and those different colors showed up on all pages when the redactions were applied.
We can find no explanation or fix. A workaround is to make the redaction color white which blends into our document but we want to not have the blocks show up. There is a forum question from 2012 with this question but no answer.We are having the same problem as well. It does appear to be document specific and is reproducible. Could someone kindly look into this?

Redacting a document - save feature
I am currently using Adobe Acrobat Pro v. 10.1.8 and have a question about the save feature. After I have used the redacting tool and applied the changes, I click on save (either File -> Save or the actual save icon on the toolbar) and it automatically brings me to a certian folder. I am curious if it is possible to have Acrobat Pro automatically bring up the folder that the original file is in instead of this seemingly random folder.
I would be happy to give any additinal info that is needed.Unfortunately, it's not possible. It usually defaults to the same folder, but not always...

(Adobe 8 Standard) When I print to PDF my redactions (black highlights/100% opacity) get messed up.
They become see-through! Anyone know why this is and whether there's a way to fix it?
The reason I want to print to PDF is to save a new version of the PDF that doesn't allow you to remove the highlights. I know you can save individual PDF pages as TIFF files then re-insert them into the PDF, but this takes forever (as does printing and scanning etc.). I guess my broader question is, does anyone know of the easiest way to do non-removeable redactions in Adobe 8 Standard?Throughout this exchange it has seemed like you don't understand exactly what's going on on my end. You said "I don't think it does" in reference to my saying that the opacity gets reduced. Hi everyone,
We have a requirement to redact all credit card/bank details from all documents that reside in our WebCenter Content repository.
We have a few million scanned documents that are are stored as tiffs and these documents are in many different formats - including handwritten letters from customers who have included their credit card details....
We also need to redact new scanned documents going forward. Unfortunately we cannot redact at the point of scanning as there is a requirement to see the bank details for the first 5-10 days once scanned.
Therefore, ideally, our solution would be a batch redaction process that essentially redacts documents that have not already been redacted. We do not want to keep any trace of the original document (including metadata) which contains the bank details.
I hope that makes sense. What I would like to know is:
1. Has anyone done this before? If so what software/approach was used
2. I have looked at AutoVue but it doesn't appear (I may be wrong) to fulfil the above requirements
3. Is there a product that can identify bank details on unstructured documents?

PS: Finaly, we lost our CD or DVD (with box), we have only serial number and bild (was purhased 2008), nothing else. I tried to finding the same as we lost distributive via Google, etc a lot of time, but trere is no success. -
How do you redact the header from 1000+ pdfs at one time?
Is there a way to redact a header from each of a large group of pdfs? I know that I can do "Search & Remove Text" from a folder of pdfs but if the same text that is in the header is somewhere else on the document and I only want to remove the header, how do I do that? Also, how do I "apply redactions" to each of an entire folder of pdfs all at once?
I'm using Adobe X Pro for pc.
Thanks for any assistance.If the header is actually defined as such (i.e. it can be removed or edited with the Header/Footer tool in Acrobat) then you can create an Action to remove the header or replace it with a copy that doesn't have the text in question.
There's an Apply Redactions step available when constructing an Action. -
I am trying to redact names and account numbers from a document. The last letter of then name and last number of the account number is not being redacted, why?

So it doesn't have the grab Handles. Instead when you choose redaction (not redact Pages) you select each individual letter of desired item(s).
Yes some times I miss the mark. But usually when I attempt an answer (when no body else with offer anything), I usually correct my answer or try out something and post what I find out.
It seems sometimes in reading the questions when they don't get answers it makes it appear as though no one knows, or because most are experts here, it assumed the question is too dumb to receive any type of answer.
So my creating the movie I have corrected my answer.

Questions on Print Quote report

I'm fairly new to Oracle Quoting and trying to get familiar with it. I have a few questions and would appreciate if anyone answers them
1) We have a requirement to customize the Print Quote report. I searched these forums and found that this report can be defined either as a XML Publisher report or an Oracle Reports report depending on a profile option. Can you please let me know what the name of the profile option is?
2) When I select the 'Print Quote' option from the Actions drop down in the quoting page and click Submit I get the report printed and see the following URL in my browser.

3) When you click on submit button do we have something like this in the jsp code: On click call ASOPQTEL.rdf. Is the report called using a concurrent program? I want to know how the report is getting invoked?
4) If we want to customize the jsp pages can you please let me know the steps involved in making the customizations and testing them.

-PC1) We have a requirement to customize the Print Quote report. I searched these forums and found that this report can be defined either as a XML Publisher report or an Oracle Reports report depending on a profile option. Can you please let me know what the name of the profile option is?
I think I posted it in one of the threads2) When I select the 'Print Quote' option from the Actions drop down in the quoting page and click Submit I get the report printed and see the following URL in my browser.

No, there is no conc program getting called, you can directly call a report in a browser window, Oracle reports server will execute the report and send the HTTP response to the browser.4) If we want to customize the jsp pages can you please let me know the steps involved in making the customizations and testing them.
