Redaction tool

I am working in Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro to remove information from scanned documents.  I have used the mark for redactions tool to mark areas in the document that I want redacted.  I then saved the document so that I could send it to a colleague fro review.  This worked well.  The problem came when I went to apply the redactions the text for each redaction did not show up as it did in the previews, in some cases I had black boxes with white text and others white boxes with black text in my saved redactions before selecting the apply redactions.  In both cases the background black or white for the box color showed up but no overlaying redaction text.  Any suggestions on how to get my redaction text to show up?

Thanks,
I do know it's avaliable in the X 10 Standard version.
What about the 9 Pro?

  • Redacting tool for HP TRIM

    Hi,
I'm looking for a redaction tool that works with HP TRIM. The existing TRIM redaction tool is really good, however, the TRIM document has to be in TIF format and all of our documents are in PDF format. Obviously, a TIF rendition could be made from the PDF and then redacted. Is there a quicker and simpler solution that retains the relationship of the records being redacted in PDF format.
We are currently using HP TRIM 7.1
    Thank you

  • Redaction tools

I do not see Redaction tools in my Adobe Acrobat XI. That is weird since I remember using it a few months ago. Anyone have a clue? I watched the video and demo -- so I think I know where to look. Anyone can help?
    Thank you in advance.

Ok, thanks for confirming it. Things don't come much more pro than redaction, so you need Acrobat Pro rather than Acrobat Standard.

  • PDF Redaction tool

How to find an app for PDF Redaction function on ipad?

One that I know about is PDFPen.  It's available in the App Store.
You can read about it at their home page: http://smilesoftware.com
(I have no financial or other interest in this product.)

  • Importing text file into search and redact window.

I am in the search window under the search and redact tool.  I
am trying to import a file that was originally an excel to populate the
search multiple words window.  I read that text files can be imported.  I saved the file as a text file but it does not import.  I can import an adobe file but this gives me a list with a bunch of junk.  What am I missing?

    The dialog imports text files.
Make sure that the file you are importing is a text file and has one word in every line.

  • Failure to report error when redacting in Acrobat X

I have experienced a problem when using Acrobat X whereby after highlighting all of the text in a file that I wish to redact and then clicking redact certain passages of text fail to redact but fail to alert me of the failure.  As I may be redacting documents of several hundred pages it isnt practical for me to go through checking that each redactino was successful.  Is there a way to turn on an alert to warn me if a passage of text fails to redact to to information me how many of my redactions succeeded (ie 99/100 redactions were successful).

Are you able to select and/or search on the text that fails to redact? it's possible that this isn't really text but an image (or scan) of the text. The Search & Remove Text feature can only work on information that is actual text. If it is a scan or image, you can run the Recognize Text command so that the Redaction tool finds the text..

  • How to sample color in a PDF for redaction

I have a PDF that I want to remove page numbers from. I assume I use the redaction tool to get rid of them. I can get rid of the page numbers using the redaction tool but some of the page backgrounds are non white so I have to try to guess the color to select for the "redacted area fill color". There is not an eye dropper color sample tool to let me click within the PDF to sample the color I need. Guessing the color is not fun since it has to look almost exact or the redaction fill looks tacky.
How can I sample a color within a PDF?

If you have acrobat professional, you can use: Advanced > Print Production > Output Preview. Hover over the color, and the palette will display the CMYK values. However, this is is printing production tool, so even if your image or color block is RGB, the colors will displayed in the palette as CMYK.

  • Custom text not overprinting redacted area of scanned text

I am redacting a document that includes imported emails and scanned correspondence, all of it created on the same computer using the same installation of Acrobat 8 Pro running under Windows XP Pro SP2 on a Dell Dimension 4600.
In Redaction Tool Properties I select a gray as the Redacted Area Fill Color, tick the Use Overlay Text box, select a blue as the Font Color, set Font and Font Size, leave Auto-Size and Repeat Overlay unchecked, select the Custom Text radio button, and include a short piece of text with which I want the redacted area to be overprinted (10 words).
When I redact an area of text in an *email*, it works fine: the redacted area is gray, overprinted with the text in blue. However, when I apply exactly the same operation to a part the document which was originally created by scanning from a paper original, I get only the gray box, *not* overprinted with my custom text.
If I then look for hidden text using Examine Document, I find that my custom text is still in there, but it remains invisible. Saving the document, quitting and restarting Acrobat makes no difference.
    Can anyone help?

Oh wow. It's running so much better now. I didn't realise how much memory it took up, should have looked it up.
    Thanks

  • Redacting a document - save feature

I am currently using Adobe Acrobat Pro v. 10.1.8 and have a question about the save feature.  After I have used the redacting tool and applied the changes, I click on save (either File -> Save or the actual save icon on the toolbar) and it automatically brings me to a certian folder.  I am curious if it is possible to have Acrobat Pro automatically bring up the folder that the original file is in instead of this seemingly random folder.
I would be happy to give any additinal info that is needed.

Unfortunately, it's not possible. It usually defaults to the same folder, but not always...

  • "Redact blocks" available in which version of Acrobat?

I need to decide which version of Acrobat to purchase for a very specific purpose that required the use of "Redact blocks" within the "Mark for redaction" menu.  From what I can gather, this is not available in the "Standard" versions, only in the "Pro" versions.  Is  this correct?  Is it available only in "Pro DC" or also in Acrobat XI Pro?  Thank you.

    Hi,
The redaction tool is available in both Acrobat XI Pro and Acrobat Pro DC.
