Redeem for lion x question

I did the up-to-date program 2 days ago but i still didnt get any redeem code. On the site it said i had to wait 24 hours right?
And also, can I already download lion with the money I have on app store and get my money back when i get the redeem code or do i really have to wait for the redeem code to upgrade for free? And does anyone have any idea on how long it still might take for me to receive the redeem code?
Thanks in advance!

yes, but I wrote to tech support and they told me itunes send the key to lower the lion, for Please send requests to answer them.

  • One last question and I am ready to jump for Lion.

    Hi All,
Thanks for your support and sharing your wonderful knowledge on my past questions. Now I have only one question and I am ready to jump for Lion on my system on this weekend. My question is...
If I upgrade to Lion and suppose anyhow I want to format my whole system due to some reason and if I want to install same thing back on my MacBook pro what I have to do? As I like to try new softwares and because of this sometime my system gets lot of problem but I have Installation discs of SL so I can manage but when we buy software from Appstore we don't have install discs so what I can do in this case?

When you download Lion, it will put an installer in your Applications folder and auto-launch that installer.  If you let the installer proceed, it will self-delete when finished.  Instead, make a copy of that installer and store it somewhere else.  At your leisure, create a bootable Lion install disk.  Note that if you choose to put it on a flash drive, you'll need an 8 GB one...  4 GB seems like it ought to be enough, but it's not quite.

No, you can't partition a Time Capsule's internal HD.  Both partitions will back up to the same sparse bundle. keeping the backups for each partition separate.
Time Machine will not take the two OSX partitions as two different computers, but for best results, exclude the Snow Leopard drive from backups on the Lion partition, and exclude the Lion partition from backups on the Snow Leopard partition.
There may be some files on the Lion partition that Time Machine on Snow Leopard won't like, among other things.  See #10 in  Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions for details.

  • I paid for lion because my 2006 mac pro will not run anything newer (arbitrary decision by apple). Downloaded it, but nothing happened. App Store now says i've already downloaded it, so I can't try again. App store also says lion isn't available in usa.

I found out that an 06 mac pro cannot be updated to anything more recent than lion. They guys at the local shop told me this after they tried to update it for me so I could run logic pro 9 in 64 bit mode. I bought lion. Waited two days for the emails. Spent hours following the instructions which sounded so simple until you try them. Finally I found the "redeem" button that was hidden because the size of my safari window was too small to show it and there was no bar at the bottom to scroll over. Without googling "how do you find the app store" and "how do you find quick links" I never would have figured it out. I only mention this so that others may learn from my mistakes. Finally I downloaded lion, supposedly, but nothing happened. There is no indication that anything downloaded, other than the fact that when I try to download it again, it says it's already been downloaded. I spent four hundred bucks at the shop updating, plus whatever they charged me for lion, and I've still got snow leopard and logic pro running at 32 bits. I'm pretty sure nobody can help me, but could you please arrange for the return of my time?

You can go to "Purchases" tab and check again.
If OS X Lion is still not downloading, try at a different network environment.
By the way, Mac Pro (2006) with a newer graphics card runs Mavericks perfectly with modifications in the installer.
It's not allowed to be discussed here, but you can simply google how to do it.

  • Is GB 9.0.4 update today at App Store needed for all users, or just for Lion? Will it be in Software Update or is it paid update only? Please clarify

I sure hope you are correct, Christoph. Seems one Mac site has questioned this also:

No iWeb updates either way so far. Not that I use it, just an observation.

  • Is there a manual for Lion Server?

Where can I find detailed documentation for Lion Server?

Piggy-backing but the lack of official documentation amazes me and can be seen as a sign of immature product roll-out.  My similar question is below, but unless something has changed I will be looking at 3d party books (yes, in paper).
What is the best overall documentation and guide for using OS X Lion Server?  I am using a Mac Mini (2.3/8GB/500GB) and learning the server in preparation for a small office server.  I am just using it at home now but going to try multiple user config for iCal, document sharing, remote access, VPN server, print server, mail server, and back-up.  I am suprised not only by the presence of so much adverse comment but even more by the apparent lack of solid and readily available documentation from apple--maybe it is there and I have just missed it.  I downloaded from apple.com the .pdf
    Lion Server
    Upgrading and
    Migrating

Not much there for getting started from scratch.  I viewed www.apple.com/macosx/server/  which is more marketing than help.  I also went to https://discussions.apple.com/community/servers_enterprise_software/mac_os_x_lio n_server and ended up back here.  Is there a good old fashioned paper book that I can sit in the sun with a cup of tea and start to both skim and study?

  • Lion Performance Question

My wife's MacBook Pro has the 2.26 GHz Core 2 Duo with 4 GB of RAM. It currently runs Snow Leopard. We've been using MobileMe to sync the calendar and address book with her iPhone, but that is going away. So if I upgrade the MS Office and VMWare Fusion, we can upgrade to Lion.
My question is whether Lion's performance is adequate on the 2.26 GHz Core 2 Duo processor, because that CPU is listed as the minimum CPU for Lion. Snow Leopard runs well and I don't want to upgrade and lose performance. Thanks in advance.

A Core 2 Duo is the minimum processor but not the actual one that's in your computer. It's quite sufficient for Lion. After all the first C2Ds ran at 2.0 GHz and are not nearly as fast as yours. Of greater importance is RAM. 2 GBs is the minimum, but 4 GBs would be much better. More if possible since you also run Fusion.

  • How do I install Utility Mpeg2 Component for Lion?

I know people have asked similar questions, but I don't understand the answers that have been given.  I want to use MPEG Streamclip and just bought my first Mac (with Lion).  I installed MPEG Streamclip 1.93b7 beta, which I understand is required for Lion.  When I open the file, I see the icon for "Utility MPEG2 Component Lion."  I understand that I am supposed to open this, but I am not able to.  I get a message telling me to double click the file "QuickTimeMPEG2.dmg" in order to open the QuickTime MPEG2 disk image.  However, I am unable to find the file "QuickTimeMPEG2.dmg."  Where do I find this?
I looked in the Quicktime folder and found a number of files, including QuickTimeMPEG.component and QuickTimeMPEG4.component, but no QuickTimeMPEG2.dmg."
Thank you so much for any help!  I am new to Macs and am not really familiar with the terminology.

  • How do I create 2 Recovery partitions: one for Lion and one for Mountain Lion?

Well that is basically the question:
How do I create 2 recovery partitions: one for Lion and one for Mountain Lion?
Reason is that I would like to keep the option to return to Lion, or even better, have a seperate partition for eacht?

can I access my programs from the other partition, so I can save space ...
No, as far as I know, each one is completely separate - especially if you're dealing with two different versions of OS's.
is it possible to safely make an extra partion on a running drive (it is my main computer ...) The disk is large enough ...
how large would this have to be
I've personally never done it on a running drive - have read it's possible, but don't want to suggest it since I've never done it and wouldn't be sure about the steps. This is how I got to two partitions on my iMac:
Originally, I had just one partition with Snow Leopard. I used CCC to clone that to an external drive. Booted into that drive and used DU to partition and erase the internal. I then cloned the new clone back. Also cloned the same thing to the other partition which I then upgraded to Lion. So I had two OS's - SL and Lion. I've now decided to clone my SL to an external drive for occasional use and installed ML on that partition - so now I have Lion and ML.
There are two ways to get a "fresh" install: either download the OS again and install it on a partition of your choice or, as I've done as well, copy the installer to a safe place so you don't need to download it again. It does include whatever apps/software is included in the OS.  I've designated two smaller partitions on externals as my "fresh" installs of both Lion and ML for emergency or reinstall purposes (this is my way of dealing with not having install DVDs) - I took the time to install it there and then slowly add fresh installs of my important apps (either via download or install CD) - don't bother with the little/less used stuff, a current copy of that can be downloaded if and when I need it. I don't really update those two - that can also be done if/when I need it since that'll always change.
So, yesterday, I decided I wanted to start fresh with ML - booted into my fresh install of Lion (on external), wiped the SL partition on my internal and installed Lion. Decided to download a fresh copy of the ML installer and installed that. Then ran Software Update. After that, repaired permissions. Then I methodically opened every third party app and checked for updates - installed those where necessary. After all that, I simply copied (drag 'n drop) my entire Documents folder (which contains all my important data,, photos, etc) over from another backup.
This took a while, but mostly because of the long download times; the installs weren't all that bad. I should be running a really clean system now, especially since nothing was ported over except my Documents folder.

  • Bash update for Lion install correctly?

I can't tell if the Bash update for Lion installed correctly.  It shows up twice on my desktop and is under devices in finder. It went though all the questions, agreeing and where to install.  I have a Mac mini from early 2009. Running 10.7.5 version of Lion.

There should be an icon on the Desktop that looks like an external hard drive and is named "bash Update" or something like that. Drag it to the Trash. If you don't see it there, look in the sidebar of a Finder window under DEVICES and click the eject icon. Then look in the Downloads folder for a file with a similar name and drag it to the Trash.

  • Need to upgrade processor for Lion operating system

How do I upgrade my MacBook Pro processor for Lion operating system?

I have the same question. I have a MacBook Pro 1,2 (yeah, oooooold) with the 2.16 Intel Core Duo, running Snow Leopard. If I'd waited another month before buying, it would've had the Core 2 Duo.
It would appear that I can't upgrade to Lion. I found one forum post that gives me hope, but I'm not holding my breath: http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/apple-notebooks/84004-processor-upgrade.html#po st524333  It suggests that the CPU might not be soldered in. Which leads me to wonder if upgrading the processor is possible...
I'd like to know if upgrading the processor is possible and/or practical (as in, doesn't cost as much as buying a new mac).

  • Getting ready for Lion

I am running Quicken 2005 presently and in order to prepare for Lion I need to update my software since I know Lion won't run PowerPC software. I tried Quicken Essentials which is worse than awful. I now am trying Quicken 2007 but it is listed as Classic in the Profiler. What does this mean? Do you suppose it will work with Lion or does it need the Emulation software also? If so it goes back and I look for some other checkbook program or I won't be able to upgrade.

I too want to prepare for Lion and thus have started looking into Quicken alternatives. I have no faith Intuit will update the software for Intel and even if they do, who knows what will break. That said, I did start testing iBank and while its reporting isn’t anywhere as robust as Q2007, there is a lot to like. I think I can move into that direction.
As to Lion, I have a stupid question but can’t find the answer. I did as suggested using System Profiler>Applications to sort by the type. Only a tiny few app’s are PPC and I can live without them. But many say Universal Binary (while others say Intel). I assume that Universal Binary run both PPC and Intel, meaning they should run under Lion. Correct?
