Redeploying .ear in WLS6.0SP1 fails?

When we redeploy an .ear file (uncheck the deployed box, copy the .ear
file, check the deployed box - autoredeploy = off in this case ) in
WLS6.0SP1 th EJB's are successfully redeployed, but the web-app always
fails. It complains that the webapp xxx is already in use. (That
figures, because we redeploy.).
Another - related? - issue is when automatic redeploy is enabled under
WinNT and you have a learge .ear file, it starts unjarring the file
before it's completely copies thus throwing a zipfile in use error.

Weblogic comes with its own implementation of JAAS, unfortunately
conflicting with Sun's. Contact customer support, they will tell you the
exact differences and incompatibilities. Or reverse engineer the two
versions, you'll find quite a few differences (apart from the BEA version
not implementing JAAS authorization, which is documented).

I am happy someone came up with this problem. I also bent backwardssolving
    this problem
    in my application.
I figured out that as soon as I remove the standard jaas.jar from my
classpath , I can run the example successfully. Weblogic.jar does contain
necessary jaas library , so don't need to include jaas.jar.
I am not sure, but I get the feeling that there is a jaas library conflict
    here. May be weblogic
guys are the best to put some light on this issue.

I found out, that the example runs with the JDK delivered by BEA,
but not with a JDK I downloaded from SUN.
Wheras with the first the provided way to set the user defined
configuration class with the system property'weblogic.security.jaas.Configuration'
works, this is not possible with another JDK. According to the
JAAS standard, this class could only be defined in the properties
file 'java.security' of the Java runtime.
    How is BEA doing this?

  • Error deploying ear in WLS6.1

I've developed and export my *.ear file from IBM Websphere Application Developer
    4. I'm pretty sure I didn't use any WebSphere specific calls.
However, when I tried to deploy the ear into WLS6.1, I get the following error
    (see attached).
    I think it's because I didn't have the weblogic-ejb-jar.xml file. I've consulted
the manual and been advised that I need to generate the descriptor manually by
    using the following command: -
    java weblogic.ant.taskdefs.war.DDInit C:\MyApp
But i got the following error: -
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: weblogic/ant/taskdefs/war/DDInit
    Any help is appreciated.
BTW:All my apps runs under Win2K

    hi michael,
I had the same problem once. There are 2 possibilities:
    1. You didn't use setEnv.cmd to set the classpath.
    2. Your weblogics.jar file in /lib doesnt contain the necessary classes.
I found out that 6.01 sp1 didnt have the ant tool in the weblogic.jar file
    so I upgraded to 6.1 sp3.

  • EAR META-INF generation failed:null

    Hi there,
I am using local NWDS to create a DC project for Composite Application Service, but the system gives me this error "EAR META-INF generation failed:null". I tried to delete the metadata folder, it does not work. When I create the same project on server side, no problem at all.
    Thanks,
    Frank

Most probably the Eclipse workspace has some problems. In order to check this, do the following: open Help|About, and check whether the three icons for SAP, Borland end Eclipse.org are visible. If not, this is a certain indicator of a corrupted Eclipse workspace.
So, if the workspace is broken, here are the two options:
    1. Reinstall the IDE using the setup program (i.e. not just extracting the eclipse directory). Might not work.
    2. Reset the workspace (by deleting the directory C:\Documents and Settings\username\Documents\SAP\workspace\.metadata (in case the default workspace location is used)) and recreate your projects again (warning: you will also lose various settings like the nameserver, J2EE server, Java editor preferences, etc). This solution is actually quite faster than 1, and works always.
    Hope this helps.

  • PDK Java Portlet looses edit default values everytime I redeploy EAR

    Hello All,
I have a PDK Java portlet (Portal - Oracle 10g). It works as expected perfectly till I redeploy my EAR. As soon as I redeploy EAR, it looses the settings that user had set using edit defaults link. Is there anyway to prevent this? Application runs on OC4J server.
I urgently need solution to this problem and any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Kinnaree

Just to be sure, you are registering the PDK producer with a WebCenter portal?
Or are you just using the PDK provider in an oracle portal environment and you don't use webcenter?
If you are using webcenter, can you also test this behavior in Oracle portal? Do you also loose the values in oracle portal or is it just in webcenter? This way we can see if it's a webcenter or portlet issue.
If you loose the values on both the oracle portal and webcenter side, than it has something to do with the portlet. If they are working correctly in oracle portal, than it might be a bug in the PDK bridge in Webcenter.

  • Redeploying EAR in OC4J

Hi, I have an installation of Oracle's Business Intelligence Analytics ( formerly Siebel Analytics ) and I am following an oracle note to patch the application the redeploy it through OC4J. OC4J standalone comes bundled with the BI analytics.
The application is currently deployed as an EAR file ( analytics.ear ) in $OBIEE_HOME/oc4j_bi/j2ee/home/applications and indeed within OC4J you can see that the analytics application is pointing to this EAR file.
Another directory $OBIEE_HOME/web holds an identical copy of this EAR file and it is this source directory that the patch changes. You are then asked to recreate the EAR file using
    jar –cf analytics.ear –C app .
The copy the EAR file into $OBIEE_HOME/oc4j_bi/j2ee/home/applications for redeploying
Q1. Since the EAR filename will not have changed from the original, do I actually need to go through the process of redeploying within OC4J or will it automatically do this when the OC4J is stopped / started ?
When I do actually try a redeploy, the Web Module name and the Context root are different from the original ( the port number is the same )
i.e. the Module name comes up as analytics.ear.war when it was previously analytics, the Context root comes up as /analytics.ear when it previously was simply /analytics
During the re-deploy the Web Module Name is not editable.
Q2. Where is this module name set - can it be changed ?
When redeploying, OC4J shows the application as up and running, however when I try the original url ( http://inibidev:9704/analytics/saw.dll?Answers ) to access the application I simply get Web Page cannot be found
Q3. Is this due to the differences in my Web Module Name and Context root ?
    any help appreciated,
    Jim

Ans1: Yes you have to redploy this EAR file again.
Ans2: Now you have to use new context URL and module name
    Ans3: Yes

  • Same container, different ear files, remote lookup failing!

I'm having severe problems with my ears! I used to have all my EJBs in one ear file and everything worked hunky dory. Now I have separated out various components into their own ear files as they may be deployed into a separate box and also this eases group development. My problem is that some (most) of the remote lookups don't work. I'm getting a Class cast exception when i use the narrow() method.
I have tried all the methods I can think of now and I'm getting desperate! Initially when all the beans were in the same ear file I used the coded reference for the lookup. This did not work across separate ear files so I replaces the coded reference in the lookup() method to the JNDI name. Now this works for some lookups but not others. Invariably a client application running in the container in a separate ear will work no problem. However a session bean using the same code as the client can not succeed in referencing another bean.
I'm baffled here because the lookup itself appears to succeed (if I but a garbage name in the lookup method it returns "name not found"). The error I'm getting is class cast exception! Occasionally though it does work - by that I mean it works for some inter-ear references but not others ie it's not intermittant.
Can anyone shed some light on the correct/best method to lookup a remote reference to a EJB from an EJB living in a different ear file in the same container?

    Found the problem!
I was using jdk 1.3.0_02 when I should have been using

  • JSPC classpath and .ear files (WLS6.0)

We're just beginning to use weblogic 6.0, and would like to make use of the .ear file format for deployment. The odd thing is that the system seems to have a problem with compiling JSPs that rely on our code that's bundled in the jsp as an EJB element.
We tried placing the non-ejb specific code outside the EJB jar file and in the war file's web-inf/lib directory, but the EJB woudln't deploy. So we stuffed all our non-web specific classes in one big jar, named it the EJB jar for the .ear file, and deployed the whole mess.
The EJB jar deploys fine, but now the JSP's inside the WAR file won't compile because the system doesn't automatically know how to find the .jar file inside the .ear file.
What should we do? Thanks in advance for any help,
              Tim

  • Ejbc20 compiling fails

    Hello,
I am trying to weblogic.ejbc20 compile a jar-file containting a couple of ejb's. I have earlier succeded to compile this jar file. But now I have reinstalled first wls6.1sp1 and when that didnt work I installed wls6.0sp2. It works on a computer which runs wls6.0sp1. The problem is that the ejbc20 generates a directory called ejbcgen... But the error which makes this compiling to fail is that it cannot read from its own directory!!!
What am I doing wrong? or what am I missing? Can anyone help me?
This is a printout of the error I get when I try to run the command:
    java weblogic.ejbc20 <fromBean> <toBean>
    The error:
    cannot read: C:\WebApplications\Sjukan\ejbcgen\sjukan\statelessBean\*.java
    Anyone who has a solution/suggestion?
    // Robert Nordin
    1 error
    Exec failed .. exiting

Does it have permission to read that directory?
