And they are each and every one illegal.
Use OL6 (the 'E' was dropped years ago), which is current and free for any purpose.

Installation of Oracle 8.1.17 on Redhat Linux Enterprise Edition 2.4
dear all
I have tried to Oracle 8.1.17 on Redhat Linux Enterprise Edition 2.4 but it gives an error "Error in invoking target make file .."
I tried using retries it failed each time to prorceed.
I checked for my binutils ( binutils-2.14.90.0.4-26 ) but mine are higher than binutils-2.11.90.0.8-13.i386.rpm required ..
do i need to down grade my binutils for 8.1.7
abhiHi Abhi!
If I remember correctly (817 is stone age) the binutils used a strange debug flag in the 2.11.90.0.8-13 (something with -z).
If this is not present in your newer version of the binutils the make will fail.
Try downgrading the binutils during the installation.

How to install in linux Enterprise Edition 6.0
Hi Dipendra,
For running the Adobe application You need to configure some thing in both Java as well as in ABAP stack for that abobe form application to work. You need to do some configuration in the Visual administrator for Java & also in the ABAP stack sidi using your SAP user id line creating ADSUSER , ADS_AGENT user id creation and roles assignment and RFC destination creation etc..
Just refer these documents for the installation and post-configuration of Adobe Document Service on NW2004s.

Install forms6i and report 6i on Red Hat Linux Enterprise edition 4.0.2
Dear All
we want to install forms 6i and reports 6i on Red Hat linux enterprise edition 4.0.2
if any person have step by step guide pl share with me
Thankssuch an old forms version on Red Hat 4 ? Please check first, if this is certified by Oracle
metalink.oracle.com - Region Certifications
can't you use the new Oracle Forms 10g ? -
Can you install Oracle 10g on REDHAT LINUX ENTERPRISE WS?
According to oracle documentation, it says you can install oracle10g on Redhat enterprise version 3 or 4, but it doesn't specify whether its Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS or WS. Can you install oracle 10g on Rehat Linux Enterprise WS?
Oracle Certificaction Matrices says only RedHat AS/ES is supported for database. AFAIK WS means workstation.
Also this link is very clear: http://kbase.redhat.com/faq/FAQ_61_1135.shtm
Besides the above sentences... If the WS installation is providing all required packages (listed in installtion prerequisites) I belive that Oracle DB could be installed on WS but as I (and the above link) said it is not officialy supported. -

Jinitiator for Red Hat Linux Enterprise Edition 3
Hello Technocrats,
I need your reply for our very critical situation asap.
We have Red Hat Linux EE 3 hosted in all developers PC. Oracle Application 11.5.5 is hosted in a Sun Ultra1 server. Now we have licence for Oracle Developer Suite 10g for RH Linux 3.
My question is , will Oracle Jinitiator for the OS compatible be installed at time of iDS installation??
do we need to grab any specific Oracle Jinitiator for E-Business Suite in this regard??
Is Oracle Jinitiator avbl for Linux platforms. If not wat will be the solution for executing a E-Business module form in a Mozilla web browser in Linux Pc's
Kindly give all your valuable suggestions asap....... awaitng your replySee http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/forms/htdocs/10g/clientsod_forms10g.html for information on officially supported configs.
The only certification I can see for Redhat is using Sun JPI 1.4.2. The Sun JPI certification was added with the latest patchset (9.0.4.2.0). I know Oracle was planning on certifying Forms 10.1.2 for Sun JPI 1.4.2 and 1.5, but I'm not sure if they managed in the end. Forms 10.1.2 is already available.
We decided to go for Sun JPI and not JInitiator because we have hundreds of external users. Their sysadmins are much more comfortable installing Sun JPI then they are installing the (unknown) Oracle JInitiator.
I've written a number of blog articles about our Sun JPI confguration at http://www.oratransplant.nl/category/oracle/forms/ -
Oracle Text index hangs(Oracle 11g linux enterprise edition)
Hi guru,
One very criticial and showstopper issue coming in Oracle Text Indexing.
I have table ResourceTable(ResId,Contents blob ,docformat)
I am creating text index on Contents column by using follwing command:
create index [IndexName] on [TableName] (contents) indextype is ctxsys.context ('lexer mylex stoplist ctxsys.default_stoplist format column ISDOCFORMAT sync(every "sysdate+1/24") storage my_text_storage memory 200M')parallel 2
I found there is one document of text/html type which hangs oracle text indexing thread.Oracle doest not give any error message keep using CPU 100% and no progress.
I then create test table with same stucture and put this corrupted documet record in this table.and did indexing again but its not doing index /not ignoring it and hangs .We have also tried to use timeout feature of inso filter so that if such type of document comes at the time of indexing oracle text indexing process will bypass it after specific time interval but still same issue comes and oracle is not bypassing such faulty document.
This is realy show stopper issue and any kind of help will be greatly appricited. You need to raise an SR with Oracle Support for this, and send them the file which is causing the hang. It should then be easy to investigate the problem and schedule a fix.
If you don't have a support contract, you could send the file to me and I'll raise a bug. However, if we fix it you won't be able to get the fix until it appears in the next downloadable version.

mailto: [email protected]missing /usr/java/j2sdk1.4.2_05/jre/javaws/javaws.packDon't worry about this. This is an artifact of the way Sun put the package together.
They install the ".pack" files, and then a post-install rule runs that unpacks these files and deletes the original .pack files. Unfortunately, RPM doesn't handle such a situation very well.
But this is definitely not an error. -
Installing 9iAS Java Edition 9.0.3 on RedHat Linux 8.0, 7.2
Hi,
Iam trying to install oracle 9iAS Java Edition 9.0.3 on RedHat Linux 8.0 and 7.2. But i have common problems during installation.
I get the following error while installing -
Error in invoking target install of makefile
/home/oracle/servers/9ias/sqlplus/lib/ins_sqlpluslib.mk
Error in invoking target install of makefile
/home/oracle/servers/9ias/network/lib/ins_oemagent.mk
Similarly i get one more error. I dont remember the actual file name.
Once i ignore all these errors then the OC4J instance configuration assistant and OPMN assistant do not start. They have some deployment problems during installation.
After the installation is complete with certain problems, i try to start all the services of DCM, using dcmctl start command
/home/oracle/servers/9ias/dcm>dcmctl start.
The other services start except the HTTP server. I get the error ADMN-906025
Iam not able to start the Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)
also...
Kindly give me the exact steps to overcome this problem or a link to some documentation...please
Its very urgent...

Slow updations (Oracle 11g 64 bit enterprise edition on Linux RHEL)
I have created Following table for profiling updates per second in Oracle Database
Test(RecordId number,Desciption varchar2(2000) //Btree Index on record id only
Table has 10000 records only.
I did updation for every record in loop by follwing query(Stored procedure executed on same server where database exists no network is coming in picture)
update Test set description = description + 'something' where Recordid = i (loop counter)//existing description has 1000 characters
I am wondering that updation of only 10000 records was taking 100 Seconds.
I was expecting atlease 1000 records/second but it is 100 record/second
Can anyone help to correct me and tell how can we improve database updations?
Processor Dual proc dual core

OS : Linux RHEL
Database:Oracle enterprise edition 64 bit.

Any help will be highly appreciated. You are running a loop but Oracle will give you read consistency.
Oracle is probably cloning some of the datablocks as it re-reads them because
it finds that the block has been previously updated.
That sort of a loop is absolutely the wrong way to test Oracle. -

Actually when I clicks on yes to start database.
The web browser you are using is not optimized for this release of Oracle enterprise manager. It is recommended that you use one of the following:
* Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.5, 6.0 or higher
* Netscape Navigator version 7 and higher
*Mozilla version 1.3.1 and higher
Dose any one know hoe to upgrade mozilla or install internet explorer 5.5, 6.0 or higher or SLES 8.
