Redirects playback properly when skipping to the beginning of a WMA track

Redirects playback properly when skipping to the beginning of a WMA track-from firmware .0
Does this mean that there is no longer a /8second delay between song with WMA? I don't use WMAs so I was wondering if I should consider using them over mp3.

I'm trying to upload the firmware to my micro and keep getting the 'something is interfering' message---I followed the info to turn off mediasource and other programs, but keep getting the same message. I read further as far as turning off the processes starting with CT, but when I attempt this I get a warning message--my question is: if I turn off these processes, will I be able to get them going again w/o majorly screwing anything up? Basically, the warning message scared me :smileysurprised:
Thanx!!

  • ITunes skips the first milliseconds when played from the beginning..

I have created some songs from my DAW that I wish to playback in iTunes.
But it seems skips the first milliseconds when played from the beginning.. Probably the first 100 milliseconds.
It plays correct in Quicktime Player.
    Anybody suggestions?

Sorry, if you restored your iPhone from a backup of your iPod then your iPhone will end up looking just like what was on your iPod. Everything else will be deleted and, if you have no other backup, it is just gone.
The restore function is not incremental. It does not add or merge content. It simply replaces every thing on the restored device with what is in the backup.

I would echo everything John just said - especially (and this is really important) that part about setting burn speeds to the minimum.
Do not worry about doing this as IMGburn will automatically adjust upwards to the minimum burn speed actually supported by the media/burner combination.
    @danielrow.
How are you currently setting your layer break please, and what OS are you running?
If on a PC there is a fantastic tool called PGCEdit that is a swiss army knife and moreover something no authoring house should be without.......

  • While playing songs, each songs skips at the beginning

Recently while listing to my ITunes on "shuffle", each songs skips at the beginning of the song as if there is a delay or something when switching songs. I ran OneCare to check for viruses, and I've tuned up my computer, so I don't know what else I can to do stop this. Please help!

Been having the same problems myself. And I don't know about you but sometimes it'll take a while to get it to actually play the first song.

    Hi bunjamin,
just go to BlackBerry World, and update all your apps including BBM.

yes, BlackBerry has acknowledged this bug in this article from the public knowledge base:

Gestures is not working like it did before. The side to side, forward back swipe, is very picky. Sometimes it takes four or five tries before it works. And yes I know how to do it. I have had a magic trackpad for about one year. And was greatly pleased by how it worked, BEFORE Mavericks. It has has indeed changed.

  • When I play music, it seems to 'skip' at the beginning

I listen to music a lot on my iphone.  I noticed this originally on my iPhone 4 and was assuming that it was due to the slow processor and limited memory of the '4'. I recently upgraded to an iPhone 6 with 128GB of memory and it still does has the issue. It's almost like what you hear when an old vinyl record would skip ahead. It seems fairly consistent in that the same song skips in the same way.
I play the exact same MP3 files on other players and I don't hear the same issue.  How can I troubleshoot/fix this problem??

Sorry that sounds like the file is damaged or recorded at a bit rate that is not compatible with the player.
I would also try creating new versions in iTunes on a computer, you can tweak the 'Import settings' to generate an MP3 or AAC audio file at various bit rates. Change the settings inside iTunes > Preferences > General tab, click the Import settings button.
    Setup for MP3 at 192kbps or 128kbps.
Close the dialog, select the effected tracks and choose File > Create MP3 version (you can also use right click).
I'd rename the new copy to make it obvious whilst testing & then sync that to the device(s) and test playback.
Repeat with AAC at similar bit rates. Throw them into a playlist to make it easy to find them.
You can also look at the info for the troublesome files to see the bit rate & the format. AIFF/WAV are basically raw files from CD - these can cause buffering issues on some devices, they are huge too. It's generally better to use a compressed format (or try Apple Lossless).
If none of the above helps I'd throw the file into Fission to look at the waveform, if it has holes when zoomed in no amount of re-encoding will fix it, re-rip the file or re-download from the iTunes store (assuming it was a purchase).

  • Alana James Songs Skipping At The Beginning Of the Song

I purchased and downloaded 4 songs by Alana James, and at the beginning of three of the songs (Down The Line, Twenty-Four Hours A Day, and All The World And I) the playback skips for about 5 - 8 seconds. How can I resolve this?
    Thanks.

When you're in the iTunes Store screen, click on support in the upper right corner, then find "Download Problems" (approx. mid-page) and click. At the bottom of the screen that opens is a way to email Apple with complaints/comments. Let them know about your bad downloads (maybe the files are bad?) and ask to re-download them.
With hope, they'll listen to the files and make sure they're okay, fix them if they're not, and then give you a chance to download good versions of the songs. Good luck!

  • Brief skip at the beginning of a song

I experience a skip (about 200-400ms in duration) at the beginning of most songs (about 2-10 seconds in) when playing in iTunes on my Mac. Disabling Crossfade and Sound Enhancer did nothing. This problem started after upgrading from iTunes 6 to iTunes 7. Updating to 7.0.1 does not help either.
I assume this has something to do with gapless playback.
Is there a temporary workaround, and ETA on resolution?

I'm not sure how processes and threads work, but it appears that the Harmonic widget actually saves the lyrics it downloads in the song file. (Take a look at Get Info > Lyrics on a song after you have started playing it with the widget enabled.)
I know when I have done some other changes (song name, artist name, etc.) on songs that are playing then there is sometimes a small pause while it saves. I assume the same thing is happening.
The Harmonic widget looks nice, but has some serious problems at this point. I have 1.5.1 and most of the lyrics I see are for incorrect songs. I have been trying to get the 1.5.2 download, but their link is broken with no fix eta. (see http://www.mindquirk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=385) Until then I have deleted it and things seem to be working fine!

  • Ipod skipping to the BEGINNING of a song

Hey i bought my ipod classic 120gb about 11 months ago and sometimes it skipps to the beginning of the song i'm listening to as if i would press backwards. I usually have my ipod in a case in my pocket so it can't be me accidentally pressing any button!!! I think it doesn't have to do with particular songs, because it's always a different song and in the beginning, at the end or anywhere in the middle of the song. What i realized is, that when the ipod skips back to the beginning of the song i'm often accidentally pulling on the earphone cable. For example if im standing up or moving while sitting (like today), but it also happened while i was standing at a bus stop. Did anybody ever have the same problem or knows how to solve it? I'm grateful for any help!!! (my warranty runs out in a month and i need to know if i should send my ipod in quickly!)

Mmmmmm. Works OK for me. I've tried every variation I can think of. Play from playlist, play from library, shuffle on, shuffle off, single song repeat on/off, playlist repeat on/off.
WAIT !!   Now I've found it  !!  It happens when I have the sidebar hidden and play a playlist from the PLAYLIST pane. Hitting Enter then takes me to the FIRST song in the playlist.
WAIT AGAIN !!! In the time it took to write the above, it changed again and works properly. Well properly is not really true. It works if I stay in the PLAYLIST pane. If I switch to the SONGS, ALBUMS or ARTISTS pane, enter does nothing. BUT, if I switch to the GENRES pane, enter starts the first song there. AND, if I've switched away from the PLAYLIST pane and switch back, enter then starts the first song in the playlist.
WOW !! That was a crazy ride. I think we can safely say that there is something awry.

  • Album Shuffle Doesn't Work Properly When Albums Have The Same Name

I'm using the latest versions of iTunes 7.0.2 and 5.5G iPod v1.2.1, but this problem has existed in (as far as I know) all iPods to date. It certainly still continues to occur on the latest iPod.
Example of the problem: I have many Albums by different Artists. I listen to them on my iPod by using "Album Shuffle" which plays the contents of an album in sequential order, but successive albums in random order. This is good when it works. However, iTunes and iPod have a problem when more than 1 album has the same name. So, let's say you have 3 albums by 3 different groups (Band A, B, and C), all called "Greatest Hits". The expected behaviour is that "Greatest Hits by Band A will play tracks 1-10, then another random album, and then sometime later, the album "Greatest Hits" by Band C will play tracks 1-15. That would be good, but this does not happen. Here's what actually happens:
    Some Album / Band X / Track 14
    Some Album / Band X / Track 15
    Some Album / Band X / Track 16
    Greatest Hits / Band A / Track 1
    Greatest Hits / Band B / Track 1
    Greatest Hits / Band C / Track 1
    Greatest Hits / Band B / Track 2
    Greatest Hits / Band A / Track 2
    Greatest Hits / Band C / Track 2
    Greatest Hits / Band B / Track 3
    Greatest Hits / Band C / Track 3
    Greatest Hits / Band A / Track 3
... (until all "Greatest Hits" tracks by Bands A, B, and C have finished)
    Another Album / Band Z / Track 1
    Another Album / Band Z / Track 2
    Another Album / Band Z / Track 3
As you can see, the iPod treats all 3 "Greatest Hits" as one humungous album. Now, until version 7, even iTunes appeared to be pretty confused about this, but with the latest version added the "Album Artist" tag (which I've applied correctly to all tracks in my Library), so that it can identify albums as separate entities properly, even if they have the same name. (This was necessary for Cover Flow to work.) Sadly, this logic has not made it to the iPod, and we still have the crazy playback situation above.
Since the first day I bought my first iPod back in 2002, I've always used Album Shuffle, and this has always been a problem. I was surprised to find that even the latest iPod still hasn't fixed this, even though iTunes seems to have. Apple, please could you fix this?
    iPod 5.5G, iTunes 7.0.2   Mac OS X (10.4.8)
Power Mac G5 Dual 2.3 GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

BTW, I'm not looking for workarounds that involve renaming albums. What if I have 158 "Greatest Hits" albums?

  • Audio will only play when started from the beginning of the sequence

I am running CS5 Premiere Pro on a Mac, the audio plays fine in one of my sequences but only from the beginning of the sequence and on.  If you stop it, or move the play head to any spot on the sequence, then the audio becomes very off and sometimes doesn't even play any sound.  Has anyone else had this issue before?

I tried that, but it doesn't appear that I have a com.apple.audio.AggregateDevices.plist file in my preferences folder.  I don't even have a com.apple.audio file of any type.

  • Stuttering Sound at the Beginning of Each Imported Track

I'm using the internal DVD drive on my PowerBook G4 to import songs from CD to my iTunes library (located on my internal hard disk). Often times, the tracks I import will have a half-second stutter at the beginning when I play them back. I'm importing in AAC format at a high bit rate (320 kbps). I've tried this at lower bit rates with no luck. I've also tried using error correction, but that doesn't seem to make a difference.
What's interesting is that this doesn't happen *every time* I import a CD. For example, I recently bought the Beatles stereo remasters and imported four of the disks the other day. No skips, no problems. The next day, I imported four more disks, and *all four* disks had skips on just about every track (except the first track—the first track is always OK).
I thought it might be that I was running too many applications at once, and maybe that's what was interfering with the import process. Restarted the machine and opened up iTunes only—nothing else—but the stuttering problem persisted.
(For the record, I don't think it's a problem with the disks either. I have no problem importing tracks using my iMac.)
Any idea what's causing this or, more importantly, how to stop it from happening?
    - Keith

Re-import one of the of the problem CDs in a lossless format, such as AIFF or Apple Lossless. Play a little to verify that the tracks are good. Then use iTunes to convert them to AAC.
Verify that those new tracks are good, and if so, you can then discard the lossless versions and keep the AACs.

  • Song pause/skip at the beginning of each song

I've recently been experiencing my music pausing for a second when a new song starts playing. The music will just stop playing for a short time after the song has begun. Sometimes when I quit iTunes and open it back up, the issue is resolved temporarily... But eventually the songs start skipping again. I have the latest version of iTunes, but I'm not sure if that's the reason why this is happening.
    Any suggestions?

This sounds just like what happens on my Rio Karma and my 5G iPod when I play certain albums containing tracks over 10 or 15 minutes long. Gapless playback isn't quite perfect in these cases, because I think the devices simply don't have enough memory capacity to buffer ahead when they're dealing with such long files.
I really don't know how to solve your particular problem, and I don't think I've ever experienced this in any version of iTunes since 7.0. It sounds vaguely like a memory/buffer handling problem to me, though. Do the playback problems coincide with anything obvious, such as a large amount of Internet activity with media file caching and so on? If so, I might start by checking your browser, QuickTime, and other application preferences to keep them from caching or at least set some minimal limits. I have been using Cache Out X for years and setting it to run at login and clear Internet-related caches, and I believe this has helped at least to some extent in improving overall application responsiveness and performance.

  • Some DVD chapters "skip" at the begining

Ive been trying to burn the 2nd disc of an information DVD, but for some reason a couple of the sequences skip or lag at the very begining. Its a total build size of about 3.5 gigs, with several timelines and links. Along with trying the build in a slower burn speed, iv tried to group larger amounts of small sequences into one timeline, but got the same problem (even worse). Does anyone know what could be causing this? Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks
    Adam

LOL please humour me. I have everything set fine, and there are zero project errors when burning. I have set all links and end actions, and yes i have done this before. Its almost like the audio starts before the video, and then skips a bit. After 2-3 seconds, the video runs fine, but as you all know, this skipping and lagging is not acceptable in a professional DVD. Does anyone have any idea at all?? Thanks for the responses so far..
