Redness in retina display
I had issues with my macbook pro putting a "read mask" over many images and menus.MSWord and Pages looked positively pink.
I did some searching on the intertubes and in the forums and found nothing but lots of complaints about color on Macbook pros.
But I did run across a program called Mountain Lion Tweaks.
Come to find out there is a setting called "highlight non-retina items" I disabled it and the problem went away. It really affected Safari becauxe the Apple homepage does not have retina ready items on it. I have no idea how this became set to on, but it is now off.
Hope this helps someone.
I have the same thing and I'm livid. I'm taking mine into the Apple Store near here based on some info I found poking aorund. It sounds hopeful, and not (I'm not a big fan of Apple's 'customer service'). Between the time I made the appt. and now, there is another. I'm sure Apple will give me the double-speak as usual, but I would try taking it back in (mine isn't even 2 months old)…that seems to be the gist around the forums and it's ahppening to plenty of people. If I bought a car and the paint started peeling in a few weeks, I'd return it.

I have always used the apple TV remote for my presentations. I bought a retina display last year for the betterment of my presentations and now I have to stand near my computer and hit a button to change my slides where as before I used my remote. Will a infra-red adapter work with the apple TV remote in the macbook pro retina display? Love my computer, but very disappointed not to have a remote for presentations that does not need the internet. Does anyone have any ideas?
Yes, I used that and it works great if you have wireless connection. Im looking for a remote that worked like the apple TV remote. My questions is, "Is there a USB infra-red remote that works with mac. I have found this one: Keyspan EZ1 easy presenter. It claims with works with PC and Mac and the reviews are good. Does anyone know anything about it or if it works with retina display macs?

My brand new MacBook Pro retina display not charging the battery any more after 3 weeks...no green or red Led. Any one now about this problem? Thanks
Either the power brick is damaged, or the charging circuit is on the blink, or both. Either way, a trip to the Apple Store or the Apple Authorized Service Provider is in order, as this ain't no bargain basement toy.
In the meantime, can attempt an SMC Reset to see if it helps. -
my ipad mini retina display is disabled because my blue tooth key board made number key entries while in my back pack. How do I re-enable?
Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.

I just purchased a 15" Macbook Pro with retina display.
How can I get my webcam to be compatable online with websites such as chatroulette, etc?
I have the latest version of flash, my system is updated, and my camera works on photo booth, skype, etc.
Whenever I try to access sites such as the one above the green light doesn't turn on and nothing happens, what can I do to fix this?Have you tried a PRAM reset?

If you look in the audio output port, is there a red light showing. If so, the internal switch is stuck.. Insert the headphones a few times, jiggle a toothpick inside or shot some compressed air to trip the switch. If no success, have the Apple store genius bar technician do it.

Retina Display Support not working with Flash Player run applets
When running flash player run websites (e.g. games or Youtube) the flash player applet fails to render for the Retina Display in the new Firefox 18 (although websites render for the retina display).
Flash player renders everything including flash applets for the retina display in other browsers (Safari, Chrome)Please check if all your plugins are up-to-date. To do this, go to the [http://mozilla.com/plugincheck Mozilla Plugin Check site].
Once you're there, the site will check if all your plugins have the latest versions.
If you see plugins in the list that have a yellow ''Update'' button or a red ''Update now'' button, please update these immediately.
To do so, please click each red or yellow button. Then you should see a site that allows you to download the latest version. Double-click the downloaded file to start the installation and follow the steps mentioned in the installation procedure. -
Macbook Pro with Retina Display with Dell U2412m external monitor
I recently purchased the Dell U2412m monitor on Amazon hoping to use it as my external monitor to my Macbook pro 15" with retina display, however, when I finish setting it up, there's a red/pink vertical line showing on my screen. Does anyone know what seems to be the problem and how do I get rid of the line. Is there anything I need to set up on the monitor to make it compatible with MBP with retina?? Thanks in advance.
I used a mini display port to display port cable and my screen looked fine. My problem was that the USB ports did not work and dealing with Dell customer service was a nightmare.

Macbook pro with retina display power adapter popped / exploded!
I was just charging my macbook pro with retina display when a loud "pop" noise came from the power adapter and the red light on the magsafe2 connector went out. I unplugged it all immediately, but there was a burnt kind of smell and bit of black 'sooty' type material around one of the edges of the adapter!
Thankfully the rMBP appears fine.
I actually just got a replacement rMBP as the other one had a small scratch on the body. So both the charger and the rMBP that was atached at the time of the pop, will be returned in a few days anyway. Still I am a little alarmed by it all. The charger was plugged into a 6-way extension adapter with surge protection, so I don't think it was a power surge. And anyway my tv (also plugged into the socket adapter) was on at the time and there was no problem there. Can I assume it was just a fault in the adapter? I will tell them about it of course when I call up tomorrow to arrange the return. I just hope the same isn't going to happen with the new rMBP and charger!
Has anyone else suffered a similar "pop" and broken adapter?Apple's warranty IS international. You have a one-year warranty when you buy the machine and you can extend that - and your phone support - to three years by purchasing the AppleCare Protection Plan, which is international as well.
Good luck with your new computer!

IPad Retina Display help?
I have an IPad with the Retina Display. I tried to update it to iOS 6.1.2, but now it doesn't turn on and I have to connect to iTunes. When I connect it, it never works and there's always an error that says the disk could not be read or written to. I've tried updating it five or six times with the same result. Any help would be appreciated!
Try this.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up. -
Hey everyone,
i'd like to get me an iPad with Retina Display. Do the ones offered in the store right now already have iOS7 or are they still delivered with iOS6? Somehow I can't figure it out from what is said in the descriptions...
thx for your answersSo far Apple hasn't released any bug fixes to the new OS.
Try a Restart.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Resetting your settings
You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. You won't lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the settings again.
Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends this only if you are unable to restart it.
Or if this doesn't work and nobody else on the blog doesn't have a better idea you can contact Apple.
Here is a link to their contacts with most of the information below.

IPad mini with Retina Display volume problems
I just recently picked up a 32 gig iPad mini with Retina Display, and everything about it is great except for the fact that the speakers don't have very good volume, they can be all the way up and still aren't as loud as my iPad 2 or my iPhone 5, is this normal?
Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. Just double-click the Home button, and when the panel of apps appears along the bottom edge of the screen, flick the row from left to right with your finger. Tap the icon on the far left side of the row to either lock the iPad’s screen or mute the iPad’s alerts, notifications and sound effects. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.

Hello Mayar23,
Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing with apps quitting unexpectedly.
The first thing I recommend is quitting and relaunching all the applications on your iPad:
Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
You can find the full article here:
iOS: Force an app to close
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
If you are still seeing the same issue after quitting all the apps, I recommend restarting your iPad and then resetting if it's still not working:
Restarting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Note: Reset your device only if you are unable to restart it.
Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
You can find the full article here:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
If the issue persists, the last thing I recommend is backing up and restoring your iPad:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
