Reduce frame count?

Hi
I have a image sequence of 350 images. I want to reduce to half 175 images
Is it possible to Reduce frame count in flash mx, (remove every other frame)
automaticy, not by hand one frame at a time.
I do also have flash cs5
can it be done in that?
Thank you..

there's no difference in jsfl from one flash version to another so you don't need cs4 for this.

  • CS5 rendering wrong frame count?

Normally I'd assume that this is user error, but we're seeing this problem on multiple computers from multiple animators running multiple versions of OSX. When we render out a project at full-res, 16-bit Avid1:1x, the file that's produced is randomly the wrong amount of frames -- for example, a 170 frame project resulted in a render that was 212 frames. We've double-checked everything, and the render settings are all correct. What's really weird is that if we render the exact same project at half-res, the frame count of the rendered file is correct.
Has anyone else ever seen this happen? It's only happened in CS5, and we're witnessing it happen almost every day. I'd guess that there's something weird going on with the Avid1:1x codec, but we use the exact same codec in CS4 without issue.

This may relate to the inability to access the CoDec specific settings panels for Avid CoDecs and specifics. I would dare a bet and say that the CoDec is locked into a specific framerate that isn't compliant with your comp settings. here's the deal: Since Avid CoDecs have dedicated settings for fields, it seems to me that when rendering at half res it is interpretting AE's reduced res as fields, which it thne simply duplicates or as correct full frames. At full res, it interprets the data wrongly and thus you end up with incorrect frame counts. So, to cut a long story short, unless you get access to the CoDec options from wuithin AE, which because of the mentioned bug may not be possible, I see no way to get it working correctly. Thus, for the time being, you will have to use otehr CoDecs or image sequences.

  • Animated gif frame count & fps

How do I find out details of an animated gif? I need to know the number of images in a strip, and also the frame rate. I would like to convert the strip to a BufferedImage for animation.

See http://www.fmsware.com/stuff/gif.html for a free decoder.
It will give you a frame count, and return each frame as a BufferedImage. It will also tell you the duration of each frame (animated GIF's don't have a fixed frame rate).

  • Frame counter or timer

Does anyone know of a technique to show a timer inset or a frame count in the frame? I am making movies of screen captures as jpgs (roughly 3000 images). I tried the plug-in called Timer from cf/x and it crashed every way i set it up.
    Any ideas? thanks!
    macbook Mac OS X (10.4.10)
    macbook   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

In case anyone else has this problem, I thought I'd close this question with what I've learned. The timer's I tried both worked with imported videos, like QT, but not with a string of stills (jpgs). I did export the stills to QT and then import to iMovie, but the timing was not precise enough... i.e., it was more than 10% off from actual time elapsed, and this was a case where precision mattered, not aesthetics. So the question is answered, but the problem is still out there.
I really wish the jpg metadata could be captured and displayed before using QT or iMovie

  • Premiere Pro freezes in render. Frame count looses sync with timeline.

    Hey Guys!
I'm completely baffled by this. So I really hope yall can help. Here's what's going on.
I'm rendering a somewhat lenghty sequence (26min) in Permiere Pro CS6 that has much of the usual going on. (Color Correction, image tweeks, ect. - nothing fancy) I've finished this edit and wanted to export it to a ProRes file. Sent it to AME and hit render with my normal 1080p, quicktime, 29.975, prores settings and about 1 min into it the time shot straight out of the park. (I'm talking like 104+ hours at one point) I checked my settings and tried other export options, still acting wonky. I even tried removing all effects and export the normal sequence sans frills. Na Da. Then I thought, "You know what, maybe it's just a weird part and it'll pass through it." Nope. Left it going for about 13 hrs and it was moving so slow I thought it was frozen.
Here's where the odd discovery comes in. I decided to render the work area of my timeline in an attempt to narrow down the problem and bingo. When I started the render here I was able to view the frame count along with the video clip progression via the number and red line that becomes green. What I discovered is that in the first clip that's roughly 4 sec (should be about 120 frames) it regestered over 800 frames before it moved onto the next clip! The timeline does not reflect these phantom frames at all. However, the renderer sees the total number of frames for the sequence correctly at around 46,000 frames. It seems as though the frame/clip sync gets so far out of wack that the renderer gets exponentially lost. That would explain why the longer it works, the slower it becomes.
I'm really not sure what's happening. I feel really out of my depth here. lol Any help you guys can give me will be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!!
    Parker

Mark - thanks for your reply. Disabled GPU acceleration and try software mode. Started rendering but super slow and also lost all my previews.
    Here is my system:
    Macbook Pro - late 2011
    Processor - 2.5 GHz, Intel Core i7
    Memory - 8GB 1333 MHz DDR3 (still have close to 4GB free)
Graphics - AMD Radeon HD 6770M 1024 MB
    Software - OSX 10.9.1
I have one sequence (less than 5 minutes) with several backgrounds and one lower third .mov playing. I am using green and ultra keys.
Really appreciate your help. Everything worked fine until the latest Adobe Pr update. Was working fine even after update Mac software to Mavericks.

On the top menu bar click Window>Movie Settings (Command J). THis will bring aa menu up in the video player window. In that menu click the "Settings" button in the top right hand corner. Here is where you can change the default clip length.

  • Camera Reset Frame Count

    Hi All,
new here. Been using LR 4 on MBP 09 for about a year now, Love it!
I'm shooting with a Fuji X100 exclusively (my only camera =). I recently updated firmware on it, and its reset frame count (up to 9500 frames). This means that the same frame number is now referring to two photos in LR. Should I start a new catalogue so I don't have conflicts? Or is there any other way to fix this problem? I checked X100 manual, I cannot choose to start from a certain frame number.
    Thanks for your help

...just on the question of starting from a given frame number, I have a comment and a suggestion.
First, it is possible to have LR rename images at the time of import, assuming you are using LR to copy the images from camera card (not available if you copy the images into the computer yourself, and then use the "Add" method of import). As part of  this renaming, you can have LR include an "image counter" group of digits, which increment continually. That replaces the camera generated filename with an enforced unique numbering (some people include the capture date in the filename too - or other attributes - it can be defined to suit.
As dj_paige says, it is not a problem to repeat a filename within a given catalog, but you may still prefer to have some unique element there.
Next, while I don't know the X100 myself, this question of controlling camera image numbering comes up fairly often. Many cameras have two alternative modes: one where the camera keeps remembering the highest image number used, even after a card is removed; the other, where it promptly forgets about that each time ("goldfish mode").
When a new card is inserted, cameras tend to take whatever internal counter may have been remembered from before (which will only apply if the camera is not in goldfish mode) AND take the highest number image found on the card, add 1 to whichever is higher, and use that for the next image taken. This becomes the new counter value.
So: asssuming your camera offers these functions (they may be called different things) - you can set the camera to a given image counter value, by doing the following:
Take a single image on a camera card. Turn off the remembering/incrementing of image number between camera cards, so that any prior counter value is forgotten. Take the camera card out, put it in a card reader and rename it to the image number that you would like to continue from. Put the card in the camera and turn on the remembering of image numbers. Take another picture: it will get an image number one higher, than the one you manually renamed. Becasue the counter is now persistent, this will continue regardless of which card is used - except if any card is ever put into the camera which has a higher value than the current counter, the counter will leapfrog that and set itself to a higher value still. To get it back down again, you would need to repeat the whole procedure above.
Personally, I don't much care what images are physically called so far as LR is concerned - but I do prefer to have the camera image number increment continually nonetheless - which it has done ever since it was new.

  • Compressor frame count jumping back and forth

    Hi guys,
I've never noticed this before, until last night when compressing a 25-minute film in Compressor at 'DVD-90 minutes, high-quality'. What in the past on this film might take an hour or so, last night took about 14 hours (i.e. all evening and through the night).
Compressor was advancing through the frame count, but then would return to an earlier frame, then jump forward through the frames again, then jump back to 10 or so frames earlier, advance forward, go back, etc. It took ages for it to get through a dozen frames or so.
It seems to me in the past when I observed Compressor, it works its way consecutively through frames, advancing forward one frame at a time.
I guess Compressor was reinterpreting data from an earlier frame, but is this normal? My film only has one of two video layers, up to 8 audio layers, some imported Motion QT files, and a very large PICT image file (scrolling end credits).
When examing the frame count where Compressor seemed to get bogged down, it appears it was towards the end of the 25-min. film (around the 42,000 mark). It seemed to be stuck there, jumping back and forth all night. Must have been when it was trying to digest the PICT end credits... Eventually it did complete the task and the export was OK.
If Compressor is having problems with the PICT (?), perhaps I'll test this out by putting my end credits on a seperate FCP sequence, export them as a QT file, then re-import that back into my film and see if Compressor is happier...
    Any thoughts?

Ongoing changes? What do you mean exactly? Anytime you add filters to a clip and render you are slightly lowering the quality...slightly. But exporting, expecially via Compressor, will add even more. How many changes are you making?

  • Exporting 1080p to 1080i QT frame count

Just thought I'd share my experience with exporting a 1080p 59.94 sequence
    to a 1080i 29.97 QT.
The resulting QT will have additional black at the end that needs to be
    trimmed off.
When I export a :10 sec spot it will create a :20 QT file with :10 program and :10 black. So the export maintains the original frame count.
Don't know if compressor would handle it differently.

It probably won't make a difference, but try deleting the zeros in the timing fields on export, just leave them blank instead of putting zeros in them. See if it comes out any different.

  • Timecode to frame count

i know this is super easy and i've done it before but it's been a while since i last used final cut and i'm sort of running into a wall.
how do u change your user preferences to show frame count instead of timecode?
e.g. still frame duration...it shows it in timecode. i would like to have it show in frames.
this is for final cut 3 or 4

  • Frame count for science fair

    Hello,
My son wants to do a science fair project to calculate the speed of cars going by our house using our video camera. We know the frame rate of the video but I cannot get a frame count to show up on our computer (just the length of the clip which I assume is calculated from the frame rate). The problem is I could be more accurate if I actually knew the frame number. I was hoping to avoid manually counting the frames. I could use quicktime viewer as well but I can't seem to make it give me this information either.
    Help! Thanks in advance.

    Yes you can do this.
In iMovie/Preferences, select "Display Time as Hours:Minutes:Seconds:Frames"
    Then VIEW/PLAYHEAD INFO
You will see the specific frame as you move your cursor over the clip.
It may also help you to move the Thumbnail Slider to 1/2 second, so the frames are spread out more.

  • Jumping frame counter and thumbnail offsets in PE3

I've been creating thumbnail offsets for my DVD markers in PE3 by subtracting the DVD marker placement from the current frame counter. One was off by two frames, and I couldn't figure out why, until I stepped frame-by-frame. The frame counter jumps from 00;31;59;29 to 00;32;00;02! Why is this? The first number is where the DVD marker and transition are, but I've never seen this before.
Also, is there an easier way to compute the thumbnail offsets than doing the math? I know you can slide the offset with the mouse, but that's rather small and difficult to control. Is there a way to tell it to "use the current frame"?
    Thanks,
    John S.

    Steve,
    Thanks for the reply.
No, my source video is all dv-avi over firewire from a minidv camcorder. If the transfer hiccupped and dropped two frames, could that be the cause? I figured PE would count the frames and do its own numbering, rather than rely on the data encoded in the dv-avi.
Your method #1 is what I meant by "doing the math", since the timecode of the dvd marker has to be subtracted from the timecode of the frame to get the offset. That is of course absolutely precise -- provided the timecode in PS isn't missing any frames! And dragging as in #2 can get tedious when the offset is minutes long. Not that I'm averse to some math, but I was just wondering if there was some way of putting in the current frame directly.
    Thanks,
    John S.

  • How to reduce logical count and scan count for a select query

    hi,
I have two tables one is master and other is history. i need to combine this two tables into one temporary table.
I am using the below query to create temp table.
    Select * into temporders
    from
    (select * from orders
    union
    select * from ordershistory) b
where updateon= (select max(updateon)from (select updateon, name, units, subunits from orders
    union
    select updateon,name,units,subunits from ordershistory) a
    where updateon <='11/08/2008 11:18 AM' and a.name=b.name and a.units=b.units and a.subunits=b.subunits group by name,units,subunits)
    order by report,subunitsorder
    the statistics for this query:
SQL Server parse and compile time:
CPU time = 47 ms, elapsed time = 62 ms.
Table 'Worktable'. Scan count 556, logical reads 1569, physical reads 0, read-ahead reads 0, lob logical reads 0, lob physical reads 0, lob read-ahead reads 0.
Table 'ORDERSHISTORY'. Scan count 116, logical reads 339, physical reads 0, read-ahead reads 0, lob logical reads 0, lob physical reads 0, lob read-ahead reads 0.
Table 'ORDERS'. Scan count 116, logical reads 285, physical reads 0, read-ahead reads 0, lob logical reads 0, lob physical reads 0, lob read-ahead reads 0.
    SQL Server Execution Times:
CPU time = 32 ms, elapsed time = 63 ms.
    (115 row(s) affected)
you see logical reads and scan count for worktable(temporary) is quite high.
So anyone can give a solution for reduce the scan count and logical reads.

  • Need to reduce parse count

In a continuously running Pro*c program has one statement as shown below:
    EXEC SQL UPDATE TABLE_MAP SET LAST_TIME = TO_CHAR(SYSDATE,'YYYYMMDDHH24MISS');
This statement is executing more than 5 times every minute. But for every execution it is going for parse. So, total number of execution is equal to total number of parse.
Please advise me how I can reduce my parse count.
The table TABLE_MAP has only one row.

  • Export Specific Timelines (Main, Nested, Frame counts)

It seems that every Flash file exports the main timeline in its entirety.
Is there a way to choose to export jpeg sequences, mov's, and swf's of:
    - Specific ranges of frames
    - Specific timelines within a symbol only?
    - Specific ranges of frames within a specific symbol?
    - Specific layers of specific timelines within specific symbols?
This flexibility would be great but I'm not sure if there's a way to do it. It seems like a pretty basic feature. Anyone?
    EX:
    - I make a file named BALLBOUNCE.FLA
    - I have created a graphic symbol called "BOUNCE1" of a ball bouncing. 1 bounce. 1 single cycle.
    - In the main timeline I put BOUNCE1 on the stage, then tween that cycling ball across the stage so that the same bounce is used 25 times, moving slowly across the stage.
    - For reason X, I decide that I need to export JUST the frames inside that symbol as a SWF. One bounce cycle within the graphic.
WITHOUT copying and pasting frames into the main timeline - is there a way to export that specific timeline directly as a SWF?
