Reduce the number of File Formats in Save As list

How do I permanently remove unwanted file formats from the "save as" file format list?
(Adobe Photoshop CS2)
Thanks,
Drew

This has been asked before and as far as I know it can't be done.

    Hi ...
Checked to see how much free space there is on the startup disk lately?
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure there's a minimum of 15% free disk space.

If disk space is not the issue, booting in Safe Mode deletes system caches that may help.
A Safe Mode boot takes longer then a normal boot so be patient.
Once you see the Desktop, click the Apple menu icon top left corner of the screen.
From the drop down menu click Restart.
See if that makes a difference ...

  • Best practice for reducing the number of XML files in an IDML file for translation?

Our engineering team is looking for ways for us to reduce the number of XML files produced when a (relatively) simple 2-page INDD file is saved out as IDML for translation?

IDML contains quite a few XML files, but I suspect you're only interested in the Stories folder if you're working on a translation. The way to do that is... to reduce the number of stories. If it's a two-pager, chances are that you have a whole bunch of unthreaded text frames. Thread them in logical reading order. This will help the translator(s) as well - by threading frames in logical reading order, they don't have to work to read the document in the same order as the target audience.

  • How to reduce the number of bytes for a picture

I want to reduce the number of bytes used for a picture to be sent to a site like Ebay or craigslist. I son't see any options in Iphoto for this purpose.

You can do it in Preview.
Open the image in Preview. Under Tools, click Adjust Size.
Scale it down to the smallest acceptable size (the website should give a suggested resolution).
Then go to File -> Export, save it as a Jpeg.
Smaller size image means smaller file size.

  • Reduce the number of Buffer Allocations

Is there an easy way to find and reduce the number of Buffer Allocations in a LabVIEW application?
Let me give you some background onto my approach before getting into my issues:  I create a waveform and send it to a PXI-6552 for generation.  At the same time that it outputs this waveform, it is also acquiring another waveform.  I process this acquired waveform's information and then save it to disk.  This loops over and over.
I want to run this VI for periods of time AT LEAST equal to 24 hours.  (Maybe longer!)
I know that you can't really control memory management much in LabVIEW, but is there a way to reduce the number of allocations between iterations?  Or, at least, free up some memory between for-loop iterations?
When I use the Profile >> Show Buffer Allocations, it seems like everything and their sister VIs all blink with dots.  :/
I would prefer not to run the Memory Profiler and my application for 24 straight hours to examine its memory management and potential to crash.  There has to be a better way to go about this.
The common places I find these Buffer Allocations are:
    Constants initialized in the loop
    Number to Fractional String VI
Pretty much every subVI input/output pin
    NI HSDIO functions
    Build array function
    Every numeric multiplication/division function
Every comparison AND, OR, equal to, etc.
Am I really, really bad at LabVIEW memory management, or is there something obvious I am missing?  Please help me out   I cannot find much literature on the subject aside from "use the profile tools".

    That was very informative.
I also stumbled upon this by jumping from link to link in the help documents http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/371361H-01/lvconcepts/vi_memory_usage/.  So I am reading through this now!
I also considered running it on a more microscopic scale just to see how rapidly the memory will grow.  It still might be worthwhile to test.
    My question about the "buffers":
In a textual programming language, I believe I could re-use almost all of the allocated memory without duplication.  Is there a way to analyze the code to check where or if new memory is being allocated?  And is it possible to enforce a waveform data type (I believe its just a cluster) of size X to be over written next iteration by the new waveform data type also of size X?  Or do you believe this might already be happening?
    EDIT:
I cannot release actual code due to Company policies, but I am using the following general set-up:
Create a relatively simple I2C waveform using the I2C Waveform Reference Library.  This is passed through a tunnel to the while loop.  I also pass a reference to the NI HSDIO generation and acquisition channels and an error cluster via tunnels as well.
Within the actual loop, I use the NI HSDIO to send the same waveform every iteration to the PXI.  I use NI HSDIO Fetch Waveform to return a DWDT (digital waveform data type) which is the same size as the original waveform but naturally with different elements.
I post process this DWDT by converting it to boolean with Digital to Boolean Array VI, a few build arrays, array transpose'es, and comparsion functions.
Lastly I convert this boolean array into a string of 0's and 1's and then substrings from this string.  (Around 10 per iteration).  These 10 substrings are converted to decimal numbers which are built into an array that is saved to disk with Write Spreadsheet to File .
I do not use any shift registers or anything.  It contains no inner loops but does use an inner case structure.
I do not suspect any large allocations before or after this main loop either.
I also do not have any front panel objects (except for the file path Contol, but this could be set to be a constant if need be.)

  • How do I reduce the number of audio channels in the source or export settings?

  • Does anyone know of a way to reduce the number of colors of an image

I have read all the documentation on this and there is no clear and easy way to reduce the number of colors of a bufferedimage. It would be also handy to know how to ensure that the image stays under specific size.
    thanks for any help

Yeah Abuse you are sooo right, i have written code to do this and it was/wasnt fun depending on your sense of humour...
    Heres how it works..
*1 pick a pallet, the more colours, the bigger the result file, but better quality
    -so decide what you want
*2 for each pixel find the nearest colour in your pallet that matches it.
-its important to count each pixel rather than each colour in the original as a large block of 1 colour should have more weight
*3 then for each colour in you pallet average out the colour of all pixels that would become that colour
-the average becomes the new best colour for that pallet entry
-since the pallet has now changed repeat 2 and 3 as long as you want, or rather untill nothing changes
    * if at any time a pallet entry has nothing that maps to it then make it become a colour that is near the most used pallet entry.
have fun, its called cluster theory and is used lots in converting images to .GIF

  • IMovie 09 has trouble importing large video files from my JVC HD-40. I am trying to edit files such as these in 09. What should I do? Would buying iMovie 2011 help? I am shooting AVCHD files instead of the other mpeg2 file format.

    Hi,
I am new into the Apple Community. I have a camcorder known as the JVC GZ-HD40 US and I currently am trying to use iMovie 2009 to edit my movies. With my camcorder, I have the choice to use two different video formats: AVCHD or Mpeg2. All my videos are shot in the AVCHD (HD) file format. This camcorder also has a 120 G Hard Drive built into it. When I plug in the camcorder through USB to my MacPro, the Hard Drive of the camcorder shows up as a icon on the desktop. Many of my video clips are at least thirty minutes in length, inside the camcorder. When I try to import in iMovie my video files, it only imports around ten minutes of the video and skips to the end of the clip. I would greatly prefer to use my MacPro desktop to edit movies instead of my Windows 7 computer which seems to work fine. Is there a solution to this problem? Would the new iMovie 2011 application solve this problem? I also have the Final Cut Express to work with, and also, can't get it to work. What should I try doing?

    Hi all,
I have the exact same problem. I've just been to Thailand with my girlfriend, and we recorded a lot of stuff with my brand new Sony HD camcorder. And whenever the we ran out of camcorder memory we just emptied everything onto my HP laptop using the supplied Sony software, which produced m2ts files. When we got home, I realized that my Mac Pro/iMovie09 was not able to import this format. What a huge disappointment! Especially considering the fact that I just bought my mac back in March (my first mac ever) only for video editing and music composing (no problems with music composing, however!).
Well, I needed a solution, so last week I just bought the Voltaic HD converting software (35$), and it works great. No problems. Only thing is that my Mac Pro (quad intel core) had to work 24 hours a day for four straight days/nights in order to finish the converting job - resulting in 434 GB worth of mov-files. This is no problem as such, and the quality is great. BUT it seems rather stupid that this converting has to take place. If I use Sony Vegas on my PC, it works out of the box with my original m2ts-files. And I would really appreciate if Apple would implement a simple import function of m2ts-files in their software - one that would (if necessary) automatically convert the files to mov. Or even better: would work natively with the m2ts-files.
    Best,

  • Add Folder - is there a limit to the number of files you can add in one go?

I have a fairly large collection (60GB+) of 192kbps mp3 files which are stored under My Music in a folder structure of Artists / Album, e.g. "My Music \ ACDC \ Back in Black\ Hells Bells.mp3"
I recently bought an ipod and having installed itunes I wanted to add all my music. I figured out that the way to do this is to go File / Add Folder and select the "My Music" folder.
However, itunes starts adding the mp3s and stops at the Bruce Springsteen folder. At this point the itunes library can see all the "A" folders and the "Bs" up to and including Bruce Springsteen. If I try the process again nothing happens.
However, if I then try to add a specific folder e.g. "My Music \ Charlatans" it works.
This suggests to me that the Add Folder option has a limit to the number of files it can process.
Any thoughts on this would be appreciated as I'm not looking forward to manually adding a hundred or so folders.
      Windows XP

Well the part about putting songs in the "iTUnes Music" folder I only brought up because it seemed you liked things very organized. You could use iTunes to so all the organizeing. Plus once you add something to the iTUnes library, if you change ANYTHING about it in windows explorer, like its name, change the name of the folder its in or move it to another folder, iTUnes "Looses Track" of it. Its not like other programs that "Watch" files and folders for changes outside its "iTUnes Music" folder
But to have iTUnes auto search, you have to delete a hidden pref file. After doing this, when you open iTUnes again it will throw up a setup wizard, just like its the first time ever installing it. Its in this wizard where you get your ONLY chance to have iTUnes auto search and add files from the system. Just goto the link below and follow Scott P's steps

  • Where to find the number of files in a folder (in Finder)?

I just upgraded from Snow Leopard.
In the past I could look at the bottom of the finder window and see how many files where in a particular folder.  And how much megawattage they respresented in total.
Is there some kind of preference I can set in Mountain Lion to be able to see the 'number' of files in a given folder?

  • Is it possible to reduce the number of HTTP calls when using a ReportViewer control?

My application is written in .Net 4 using Visual Studio 2010 (version 10 of the ReportViewer control). The report in question contains a lot of data in the dropdowns used for parameter selection. For example, one dropdown contains 95k options and another
uses 24k options (I know this is bad design, but we need to keep it as-is for this release). When I use Fiddler to profile the report, I see that it makes a lot of HTTP calls and a majority return the same dataset. There are three phases of loading data. Each
one initiates a series of HTTP calls.
Loading the initial header with the filter controls (dropdowns, textboxes, etc).
Changing one of the dropdowns that has a dependent dropdown (start date/end date)
Loading the final report after clicking the View Report button
In total, 13 HTTP calls are made and 10 of those are returning the same 10MB of data. The final report only returns 13 records, but the whole process of loading the report filters, changing report filters and loading the report require 130MB of data to be
exchanged. This is an extreme example, but we do have other reports that are doing the same with smaller amounts of data.
My question: is there any way to modify the ReportViewer or the SSRS server to reduce the number of calls? Is this related to ViewState? Please understand that I am new to Reporting Services and have a lot to learn.

    Hi rodeofive,
As per my understanding, the issue is a performance issue. And it is caused by there are thousands of values in the drop-down list of parameters in the report.
To work around this issue, I suggest you should make some changes in the report. For example, we can add additional two parameters with multiple keywords ahead, one for the dropdown contains 95k options, another for dropdown contains 24k options. Then all
of available values which are begin with the keywords will display in the parameter list. In this scenario, we can create cascading parameters. One is a keyword parameter, and the other parameter is the drop-down list that based on the keyword to display the
    available values.
For more details about the method, please refer to the following FAQ:

    Hope this helps.

  • How to get the number of files currently open?

    e.g. lets say .txt files...

Assuming that you don't want to actually do this from within Java code (which would obviously require native code), here's a utility that will give you a list of which file handles are opened by which processes (on Windows):

While downloading podcasts to my library, I am getting the message, "the iTunes Library file cannot be saves. An unknown error occured (-54)." Any idea of what is going on?
    Thanks.

The problem went away on its own. Not sure what was the problem but perhaps somehow the system was out sync internally due installing Lion 10.7.3/Snow Leopard 10.6.8/10.7/10.7.3 with iTunes 6 installing after the 10.7.3 and then needing to be installed again after the second 10.7.3 install from the updater model.
I kept accepting the error message and checking iTunes music file. No podcast downloads were actually rejected.
