Reduce video resolution

Is there a way to reduce the captured video resolution of the camera?
Video files are HUGE in size and 1. Take forever to load on Apple TV to show others (a minutes and a half video takes almost a minute and a half before the video will start to play) 2. Videos are taking up WAY too much room on my iphone.  A three minute video is 512MB.  While I know 1080p is impressive, it isn't very practical for short clips that don't require all that video detal, especially if they are only going to be played back on the device. 1920x1080 video doesn't give any value to a 960x640 screen.  I have 6GB left on my phone and want to be able take a handful of videos photos on my vacation.  At this rate, it doesn't appear that I will get to take as many videos as I was once able to with the 3GS.  In any matter, please let me know if there is a way to reduce the video resoltuion.

There is no way to reduce the video resolution using the rear facing camera, however if you use the front facing camera, the video will be shot in SD.

  • Can I reduce video file size on iPad?

Is there an iOS app - iMovie for instance - that will allow me to reduce video file size on my iPad, without having to use a computer?

There are various Apps in the App Store that will compress a video file, try search on Video Slimmer or Video Compression.  Another option is to use a different App for recording the video in the first place; I use MoviePro quite extensively, it allows 5 different presets for resolution, bit rate etc. for recording video.

  • How do I maintain consistent video resolution in primary and tablet views?

I have a module that includes a screen shot, followed by a video demo of the screen scrolling, followed by another screen shot. Everything flows smoothly in the primary view. However, things change in the tablet view. When showing the scrolling video slide, the tablet view increases the resolution to show the entire recorded screen. This differs from the screen shots on slides before and after that show just what can fit in the tablet view. Is there any way to reduce the resolution of the video demo slide to match the rest of the slides?

What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system is it running?
This sounds like a split screen effect to me.
If so, one view on Video 1 and the other directly above that is the other view on Video 2.
Then crop each so that each occupies 1/2 the Edit area monitor screen.
(generalized since I do not know your program version, see effects Transform/Crop).
I wrote the following in 2011 for a Premiere Elements 8 user in another forum
Your basic tools to achieve your goal are Crop Video Effect and Horizontal Flip Video Effect.
Video ONE on video track 1.
Video TWO on video track 2, directly above Video ONE.
Highlight Video ONE on video track 1, Edit Mode/Effects/Video Effects/Transform/Crop, followed by adjusting the crop under Edit Effects (see bottom of Effects Panel) so that Video ONE occupies the left half of the screen.
Do the same for Video TWO on video track 2, Edit Mode/Effects/Video Effects/Transform/Crop etc. so that Video TWO occupies the right half of the screen. BUT end with Edit Mode/Effects/Video Effects/Transform/Horizontal Flip.
Highlight the video on either side to make adjusts in the Properties Palette and appropriate Panel (position, cropping, etc). But, remember that if you make changes in the "flipped" right side of the screen, Edit Effects/Crop Panel right option will be for left and left option will be for right.
You may or may not need the "flip" part of the effect.
Please review and consider. If I have misinterpreted your question, please let me know with details and I will rethink what you seek.
    Thanks.

  • Reducing video file/picture size

I just upgraded to the 5 from the 4g and while the bump in quality is nice, a few MB a second when recording video is pretty staggering. I know it's suggested to convert the mov file to mp4 but is there any way to set the ipod to record in just 720 for example to save on file size? Same question applies to taking pictures, as the camera itself isn't good enough to warrant a need for pictures the size it produces it'd be much nicer to have it set to about half the default size so I can avoid resizing pictures I want to keep.

There is no way to reduce/change the resolution of video or still photos.
If you email them video yo can select the resolution of photos and it reduces the resolution of videos.

  • Downsizing video resolution?

Hi everyone, I'm a newbie at adobe premiere elements and video editing.  I have a few videos that I am trying to incorporate into my project that was shot on a small pocket-sized flip minoHD 720P camera.  The videos are MPEG-4 (MP4 extension).   When I add one of the videos to my timeline and play the video, the video plays back pretty choppy (audio is fine though).  Now I wouldn't consider my computer to be a media player powerhouse, but I am looking for a way to possibly reduce the resolution of these videos so that they play more smoothly.  Does anyone know if there's a way for Adobe Premiere Elements to do this?  Or if perhaps not the resolution, then something else?  I'm willing to sacrifice some video quality for performance.
Also, I'm sure its probably mentioned somewhere else in the forums, but are there certain video formats which work better with adobe premiere elements (playback and editing-wise)?  Thanks in advance!

It is more the MP4 format rather than the resolution. You can hit the Enter key on your keyboard to render the video, it should then play smoothly. Otherwise you will need to convert it to another format. Do you wish to maintain the high def 1280x720 or will your ultimate delivery format be standard definition anyway?

  • Any way to reduce the resolution when exporting to .pdf

We are emailing reports.  On some reports with a large number of jpegs we are hitting a size limitation.  It would be helpful to reduce the resolution on the jpegs when exporting to .pdf.  Any way that would be possible?

    Hi,
    Need more info-
VS version? or the developing application?
CR Version? Are you directly emailing your reports from CR designer?
Also once the image is fetched by the report, we can not make any changes in the image, as a work around you need to do required changes in the image before adding it to the reports, and as far as I know it is not possible through code, but we can wait for other responses though.

P.S. Can you please tell how this forum can be identified code \ listing?

    Hello,
I don't know if there is a way to change the video. But I think you can easily use your own videos by using a local .mpg or .3gp file via InputStream. Just change the player's parameters in video/mpg instead of capture://video.
    Hope it helps...

  • Video Resolution, and Windows Reset?

    Two quick questions.
    1. Where, if possible, can I set the settings for the videos resolution (i.e. 16:9, pixels, ect)
    2. Is it possible to reset all the windows to their default opening layout and size? (I screwed up something on my timeline so now only half of the horizontal slider bar is showing until I click on it)

    From the menu: Window>Arrange>Standard.
This will only reset the Layout.

  • Cannot Change Video Resolution in Youtube

When I try to change the video resolution in YouTube, the screen goes black and it automatically goes to 240p regardless of the resolution that I choose. It will play the video so long as it remains in its default resolution i.e. 360p or 240p. I also have Chrome downloaded and it has no issue changing between video resolution so I am assuming it is an issue with Safari. I reinstalled Flash and I tried resetting the computer but had no success with either of those attempts. Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    Dan

Thanks dschinkal! When I view You Tube clips on Safari and click the resolution adjuster to increase it (say, to 720), the screen goes black and I have to click refresh in order to reload the page. After which, it plays again at a low resolution.
This has happened since I bought my new iMac 27" a month ago.

  • Reducing the Resolution of a Referenced Original Image

I made the mistake of taking photos in very high resolution, and then importing the originals into my Aperture Library as referenced images.  Now my hard drive is completely full (and I've already disabled and deleted Previews), so I'm trying to reduce the resolution of the original images using Aperture.  After much reading, it seems that I'll need to Export Versions at a reduced size, Import the new versions into Aperture, and Delete the old originals.  Seriously?!?  Before I venture down this horrific path, please let me know if there is an easier solution.  Thanks!

As Terence said -- the easy thing is built-in and recommended: select the Images whose Originals you want to relocate, and relocate them to external drives.  External drives are _bargains_ right now.  I recommend -- seriously -- buying them in triplicate: one as your "working data" store, and two to use as back-ups (never have all three in the same physical location).
Storage is so cheap, on fact, that even though for this one set of pictures you recorded a higher resolution than you need, I still wouldn't bother "down-sizing" those Originals -- particularly if you have made _any_ changes via adjustments or metadata.  Change your camera settings, and just live with a little extra data spinning around.
Here is the page in the User Manual on relocating your Originals (click from the contents listed at the top).
Note, too, the following, from the page Basic Components of Aperture:
Using referenced images in your Aperture system provides a number of substantial benefits to your photography workflow. For example, you can incorporate your existing portfolio of images into Aperture without changing the current location of the files. Importing images by reference does not result in a duplication of your image files in the Aperture library, thus saving hard disk space. You can also connect and disconnect hard disks holding your referenced images’ masters as you need them. This allows you to keep masters for less-used images offline or to make specific types of images available for editing or adjustments as needed. Using referenced images in your Aperture system lets you build a flexible image management system customized to your work style. (Emphasis mine.)
For my personal Libary, I keep 4★, 5★, Portfolio Images, and anything recorded in the last 45 days on my laptop's system drive.  Every other Original is relocated to a 2 TB external drive.
I find Previews _very_ useful (both in and out of Aperture), and even rely on them as a sort of emergency back-up of last resort.  I recommend you rebuild yours.

  • How to reduce scrolling title flicker without reducing title resolution???

    Hello all,
so after 48 hours and around 200 pages of online forums, i've yet to find any definitive fix on my scrolling title issue-  anyone want to give it a try?
so the basic issue it flickering titles (at least for now). Based on my recent education (forums etc), and after using the advice, my basic problem comes down to not being able to reduce flicker without reducing title resolution. This is to say that the many filters do stop the flicker but they also kill the razor sharpness of my titles. I have a little over two min's of scrolling titles (single long vertical column) that flicker beyond tolerance. After realizing that FCP's title generators are limited to a little over a minute, i went to livetype and had little luck there as well. I've tried the many half fixes recommended online (boris, color, scan line, filters etc) all with little to no positive result, and so i come to you a tad tired, upset, and respectfully in request of help.
I just can't accept that a cinematic convention (scrolling titles), one alomst as old as cinema itself continues to be so problematic in the digital realm. Is their no simple or at least straight forward method for creating simple regular font scrolling titles that don't flicker or pulse on their way up the screen. good grief!

  • How do I save as a pdf without reducing the resolution?

Hi everyone. I am making business cards and I have to upload a pdf to a website to place my order. My card is ready to go at the specified resolution (300 dpi) and dimensions, but whenever I save it as a pdf, it reduces the resolution immensely. The dimensions of the photoshop file are 1062x615, whereas the pdfs (no compression) are always 254x147. The photoshop file, again, is 300 dpi.
The dimensions in inches for both files: 3.54 x 2.05
Obviously 254 pixels across 3.54 inches is not 300 dpi, but I cant figure out why it would do this. Please help.

    OK  InDesign quickstart guide
Open indesign and create a new document.  Use the drop down and choose Intent: Print and US Business card
Ctrl d opens the place image dialogue box.  locate the image which can be a PSD file with no text or JPG or PNG whatever.
Drag the cursor to place and size the image.  Use the Selection tool (v) to move and resize.
With your background image selected (handles and bounding box visible) use the Windows drop down to open the Text wrap panel and chose 'No text wrap' (or you won't be able to place text over it).
Now create a text frame and use the Type tool to place your text.  This can be maddeningly frustrating but you'll get there.  Google and Youtube is your friend.
    https://www.youtube.com/results?q=indesign%20placing%20text&um=1&ie=UTF-8&gl=NZ&sa=N&tab=w 1
    When done, Export to PDF
    http://partners.adobe.com/public/asn/en/print_resource_center/Acrobat6PrintPress.pdf
or this might easier to follow
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79IEx1AKIN4
The resulting PDF will print way way better than a bitmap image created entirely with Photoshop.
