Reduced Render Times i7

Working a i7 920, 12 gb ram, sATA drives, Win 7 with Premiere Pro 1.5.
Render time: 19 mins.
P4 2.66, 1 gb ram, ide, XP Pro with Premiere Pro 1.5
Render time: 3 hours.
Pretty cool.
Probabaly, with CS4 even faster.

I'm not exactly sure how much functionality
I will have working with Pro 1.5 in Win 7.
I took an old program I had and re-rendered it to come up with the the above stated numbers.
Who knows what will happen when I try to "mess" with the program.
Thanks for all your help.

  • Reducing Render TIme

    Hi All,
My render times for a 10 minute clip are getting ridiculous ... about an hour.
I was thinking, what if i change the sequence settings in some way so as to reduce render time between edits? All i want to do at this stage of the game is get a rough idea of how my edits work.
Once i'm all done i can just reset the sequence settings to where i want them and do a final render prior to export.
Any ideas of good, quick, sequence settings to get this process moving along?
    Paul

Your sequence settings should be set to "lower", not none... might have a problem set to none with field order.
Sounds like your compositing is causing the render times, and the ONLY fix here is to quit compositing. (not a good idea of course) or get thee to a faster mac... Rendering times in any codec or sequence setting are heavily dependant on CPU speed. The faster the machine, the faster the render. You want a lower quality render for editorial? you can change that in the render settings... just don't forget to re render in high quality in the end of course.

  • How to reduce render time?

I have created two separate events in FCP X that are both completely done and fully rendered.  I now want to combine them onto one timeline and then send them to Compressor to burn a DVD for a client.  It is frustrating to have to wait for this new 30 minute event/timeline to render as I have not changed a thing.  Is there a better workflow in order to avoid these long renders?

you should be able to copy, paste one project into the other without re rendering as long as they are already rendered, you can make one project into a compound clip first then copy paste that into the other timeline or paste it in without making it a compound clip. I do it all the time, as long as you don't change anything after you paste it in, then send the newley created  extended project directly to compressor to create your mpg2 files for dvd.

  • Reduce render time with wizard design pattern

I am making a long, complex interactive dynamic form. How do I make the form so that only the page/section the user is working on is visible and renders?

You could create pure virtual class that defines your test step API. Methods for the class would consist of things like setup, teardown, execute to name a few. Your developers could use this base class as the template and API for their tests. The methods regulate the format of the data exchange between your engine and their test. I would also recommend that you use packed libraries so that your test steps are basically plugins. Your test sequence would need to contain the name of the appropriate plugin to use in order to invoke the correct test step. This model is flexible and easy to extend.
We are actually investigating using this same approach for our test system. Our current system uses TestStand and we are going to investigate TestStand 2012 ability to use dynamic dispatch to invoke our test steps. It should be interesting. We use other features of TestStand so it would be nice if we can make this work. In your case a LabVIEW only implementation should be fairly straightforward.

  • Photos - render times

It's occurred to me that the biggest rendering roadblock I encounter (by far) is with still photographs. Are there any compression strategies for photos (or any other strategies) that I should be considering to reduce render times?

NEVER confuse the issue of images for screen with any talk of DPI!!!!!
No 1dpi rubbish - no 72dpi rubbish - don't even write those three letters! You will only serve to carry on the farce!
Seriously - the ONLY time you deal in DPI is on input when scanning and output to a physical media such as paper.
For anything on-screen DPI has ABSOLUTELY no impact at all.
When creating or resizing images or video for on-screen simply work in the horizontal and vertical pixel dimensions necessary for the output. If you need to zoom in - then work at dimensions large enough to do the zoom you require.
    Thats it.
    Nothing else.
If I catch you discussing DPI with direct reference to use in video in ANY way again; I will send round the Energiser Bunny to beat your Mac into an Aluminium Rabbit Hutch with his carrot!
    Seriously though - Never...
...and just to make doubly sure that what I have said sinks in, please read this post again.
    And now do it again...
    ...and one more time please.
There is no dpi spoon in video.

  • Much longer render time for a few small changes?

I bought a new Macbook pro last week with a 2.4 ghz intel i5 processor and 8 GB of ram. I got Adobe premiere pro yesterday and I made a video which combined taking footage shot from my flip video camera and audio commentary that I recorded across the full video. The video was rendered with the setting H.264 and the preset Youtube widescreen HD, the final video was about an 800 MB .mp4 file. It took about 30-40 minutes to render.
Today, I added a 17 minute mp3 file for background music, which was 17 mb. I also added 6 images and 2 titles which overlay the video at different points. The only other thing I added along with these two was a 16 second mov file which serves as an intro video to my series. With these 3 (what I consider to be fairly small) changes, my render time has jumped dramatically. With the same export settings, I see the render time build and build until it reaches 4+ hours and I decide to stop. I've tried a couple different formats, but I'm not sure what else to do. I feel that 8gb should be plenty to render a video like this fairly quickly (like I did yesterday) and I'm not sure why it's taking so long compared to yesterday. Is this normal? Any help to guide me with reducing render times would be much appreciated. Thanks!

The Export time will differ by what one is Exporting from and what they are Exporting to. In this case, the "to" has not changed.
    What has changed?
Well, the stills for one. What is the format and what are the pixel x pixel dimensions of those?
The addition of the MOV is another place to look. What is the CODEC inside that MOV "wrapper?" Having to decode via the CODEC can impact the Export time.
The new Audio has changed. What is the format/CODEC of that music file?
Those are the first thoughts that I have on this, and good luck,
    Hunt

  • Reducing Final Render Times

What are the most cost effective solutions to improving render time?
    Robert Land

FCP under stress can utilize up to ~2.5GB of ram. If there is not enough ram to fulfill the demand, OSX will protect itself by reserving RAM so will start paging memory out to the hard drive (aka virtual ram).
My old Ti 1ghz Powerbook with 1GB of ram, will show 250mb of free ram even when the poor processor is pegged at redline.
To gauge your memory demands, in the Activity Monitor, look at System Memory> Page Ins/ Outs. If you aren't paging out, more ram is not going to help. This is because you are not running up against a limit and forcing the system to send bits from physical RAM to the hard drive for temporary storage. This temp storage (virtual ram) is an order of magnitude or two slower than keeping things in physical ram and will cause a performance slowdown.
By the way, the VM size is how much of your system disk is being reserved for use as virtual memory. This number can be startling large and is why you DO NOT want to fill things up. The Powerbook I'm writing this on currently has a VM of 7.2 GB on a 80 GB hard drive. (the size of the VM file will vary with the number and demands of the programs you have open.) As it stands it is taking something close to 10% of the drive. This is why I'd suggest keeping 20% free on a system drive.

  • How to reduce rendering time.

    Hi
I have a couple of questions-
    1. When i am rendering an hd video pal format, it takes on an average 3.5 hours to render it. This is through encore as well as premiere? How do i reduce rendering time?
    2. Second issue is how do i tranfer an open project from 1 computer to the other, since the data is on the hard disk of the first, and there are chances of it getting lost?
    3. When i try converting a pal HD video to ntsc in encore, it doesnt take the frame size. So i have to export it in ntsc in premiere then make the title in encore and then render it again. Takes too long, any way of shortening the process?
    4. How to make dvd copies from a rendered HD project?

    export settings, film size 1440x1080i
computer specifications 8gb ram, windows 7 (64bit), fx series amd...
for 01- what would you recommend?  i have a budget constraint that i cannot exceed 3000$
02- could you elaborate as to how i can copy? i am using a cat 6 network cables between my systems.
03- when i export it in encore, in the encore export setting there all these otions, based upon frame rate, when i choose the ntsc option, it still takes the default pal option, and doesnt accept the ntsc. So to counter that i have to go back to premiere, export it in ntsc and then make the final output in encore. so it takes 3 hours first to convert to ntsc and then another 3 hours when rendering through encore. i know my process is wrong, what do i do?
04- any link where i can see it. our time line in bluray is 2 hours, to mantain quality you would need to split that rather than convert the 2 hour project to dvd. i think that is my question, how can you split the bluray project over two dvd's
    thanks for your reply

  • Exporting HD in FCX - massive render times issues

    Hello,
Reading the FCP X Help topics etc I think I have a good understanding of import/export criteria. However, I have it from some peers that I could do much better with regard to reducing the massive render times I am experiencing.
Currently the render time for an 8minute clip is 26 hours using Compressor 4 using preset 'HD 1080 Video Sharing (H2.64) - AAC
    BACKGROUND:
    OS X 10.8.3 (12D78)
    17-inch, Late 2008 MacBookPro
2.5 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
    FCX 10.0.8
Raw footage is 1920 - 1080 from Canon D7 card -  copied to an external HD.
Import settings: both proxy and optimised - both with huge export times as above.
Destination to Movei folder or desktop
The 8 minute sequence includes filters which I know will increase processing time, but by this much is pretty horrendous. (a 'preset' colour correction + sharpen + manual colour correction)
My understanding is that if I import - or later convert all footage - into optimised files - these become ProRes222 files which will give me much faster render and export times. But this does not seem to be happening.
It simply is not efficient or practical to myself or any clients to have 25 - 30 hour export times for 8 minute sequences
My impression is that this computer is simply not up to  faster rendering/export processing - but my peers tell me my currrent render/export times are rediculously long.
    Can any one advise please.
    Thank you.

  • Optimize render time... how ?

    Hi everybody
The story I'm going to tell you is very dramatic.
I have the following configuration :
    Windows 7 64 bits
    i7- 3770k
    Motherboard : Asus P8Z77-M PRO
    GC : Geforce GTX 660 2GO
    Ram 16 go
    1 SSD 240 go
    1 Seagate barracuda 2TB Sata 3.5 IN 7200T/M
    I precise I use CUDA.
When I work on a composition a bit complex (for ex : with 1 noise reducer effect), render time are very long. I'd say After Effects take 3 seconds to render 1 frame... It's too long for me. It makes me cry.
I'd like to know if this time depends on my hardware. If it does, what could you advice me to change within my computer ?
I precise that when After Effects renders these videos, I open task Manager and I can see that only 3-4 go de ram is used ; and the UC is increased to 30-40% only...
    Can somebody help me ?
    Thank you in advance,
    Regards
PS : sorry if there are mistakes in my english, I'm french !

Perfectly normal. Effects processing takes time, especially when temporal logic is involved. It requires linear processing in a single thread. Do a search on this forum, we have discussed this in detail a hundred times. And 3 seconds are "too long"? How do you ever hope to do anything in AE? Even 10 minutes per frame can be totalyl normal on complex effects...

  • Render times: what is expected?

    Hello,
I recently went to render a project, and it estimated that it would take 44 hours to complete. That is, shall we say, less than ideal.
    Some specs about my machine:
    MacBook Pro
    2.6 GHz Intel Core i7
    16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 RAM
    The Disk Cache:
LaCie USB3 External SSD (200 GB allocated for cache)
    Details about my AE project:
    AE version: CS6
    3:15 (3 minutes 15 seconds) duration
    1920 x 1080 (1080p) resolution
    Ray-traced 3D environment
    17 light layers
    3 cameras
All other layers are either shapes, solids, pictures, or pre-comps
I'm trying to render out to h.264 format. It seems to me that 40+ hours is extremely excessive for a 3:15 long video, but I'm not positive that's the case. I'd love to hear thoughts back on expectations and how I can reduce this time (either through settings or better hardware).
    Thank you!

rhannebaum wrote:I chose H.264 because it seemed the most common HD video output, and I didn't want to use QuickTime (.mov) because the resultant .mov files were huge. Very hard to transfer around after the fact.
Oh, I was pretty sure that was your reasoning.
Yes, the resulting file will be huge (unless you're rendering to an image sequence in which case the mass of resulting files will be huge ) . You then take that file (or image sequence) into Premiere or the Adobe Media Encoder to create your easy-to-transfer file - in your case, h.264 is probably your best bet. But, for the reasons I enumerated, you do not want to do the h.264 right out of AE.
There are other options to a lossless Quicktime or an image sequence (although the crashing rescue alone is worth the image sequence option). Where I work we use the Cineform codec from GoPro. It's free and it's close enough to lossless for our workflow, but the file size is significatly smaller. Another great choice is the DNxHD codec which is free from Avid. It has the same benefits as the Cineform codec.
    rhannebaum wrote:
Are image sequences simple to import into Premiere? Also, is Media Encoder faster at rendering than AE? I know the obvious benefit is that I can keep working in AE while a comp renders in Media Encoder, but not sure beyond that what ME's value is.
Image sequences are as easy to import into Premiere as any other video format. It's great!
Media Encoder is not faster than AE - and, in some cases (as others have mentioned), it can be much slower. However, it does a much better job of encoding H.264. The quality is higher for the same data rate. That (among other reasons) is why, in the new version of AE CC, the H.264 render option has been deprecated.
For your workflow, I would not suggest sending your AE comp to the AME; render a lossless (or nearly lossless) file out of AE and then use the Adobe Media Encoder to create your final deliverable.
One cool thing about the Adobe Media Encoder is that you can set up watch folders so that any time an uncompressed file lands in that folder, it gets encoded per your specified settings.
    rhannebaum wrote:
Is Cinema4D a plugin native to AE CC? I'm afraid my upgrade options are limited to what my company approves, but if there is a legit improvement in render times in CC over CS6, that may seriously persuade them...
Cinema4D is the industry standard 3d animation software for creating motion graphics. It's also got some good scuplting, modeling, and character animation tools and is fast becoming one of the big players in all aspects of 3d animation. One of the reasons for its rapid growth (besides the fact that its easier to learn than its competition) is that it integrates very well with After Effects.
Bundled with (and integrated with) AE CC, you get a lite version of C4D. It doesn't have nearly the power of the full program, but it's worlds better than messing with the 3d ray-traced stuff and gives you a lot more tools to work with.
Bottom line: if your company is going to want you to do more 3d stuff, you really need to get into a plugin like Element, 3d Invigorator, or ShapeShifter. They render much faster.
And, if they really want you to do some great 3d, they'll need to get a full-fledged 3d program for you (and the requisite training). Upgrading to the CC version of AE is a great halfway step though.

  • Reducing Load Times / Design Architecture

I'm designing a flash site with a Dynamic Gallery (loading images from a XML file). what can I do to reduce load time at the beginning, or limit loading times to individual images?
I've seen designs which loads another SWF file on top of the current one. Is this feasible?
Any details would be greatly appreciated.

If loading the images is the goal of the file, then the quickest way to do that is to concentrate on the images.  Any way you load them, they have to be loaded.  Be sure they are optimized for the web.  If the gallery intent would allow for it, have the images loaded on request, using thumbnails or other button-like interfaces.  Or maybe load different sections at a time.  Or load so many at first, then load the rest in the background so that there's something to look at while the rest load.
I don't know what purpose you have in mind for loading another swf into the file, so I can't offer any ideas there.

  • How to reduce process time in report

    Hi all..
Is there any technique to reduce process time in report on programmer side??
    Plz help me...

    Hi
check this and ensure that your code is as per the stds
    1) Dont use nested select statements
    2) If possible use for all entries in addition
    3) In the where addition make sure you give all the primary key
    4) Use Index for the selection criteria.
    5) You can also use inner joins
    6) You can try to put the data from the first select statement into an Itab and then in order to select the data from the second table use for all entries in.
    7) Use the runtime analysis SE30 and SQL Trace (ST05) to identify the performance and also to identify where the load is heavy, so that you can change the code accordingly

  • Reducing the time interval in file Adpt to write a flat file at a location

    Hi All,
I hav a scenario where i hav to write a flat file (<b>XXX.txt</b>) to a location. b4 doing that, i hav to check whether <b>XXX.txt</b> already exists or not. If it doesn't exists then i hav to write the <b>XXX.txt</b> file there. if it already exists, then i hav to wait until that <b>xxx.txt</b> file gets deleted.
In the receiver file adapter v hav an option <b>file construction mode = <u><i>create</i></u></b> which does the same thing. but the problem here is it is taking too long (<b>more than 5 min</b>) which is not at all acceptable in my case (it is ok <b>if it takes 1 min</b>).
Is there any way to <b>reduce the time interval</b> using the same option?
Or do we hav any <b>work around solution</b> for acheiving the same scenario?
    any help wud b appreciated.

As far as my knowledge goes I think it is not possible because we are not going to do anything from our end. XI is doing processing and creating a file for you. But you might be sending a large file at a time. So you have to improve the performance in your scenario. You check this urls on how to improve performance in XI:
