Reducing blank area around printed pages doc....

After printing a pages document, based on the 'Flyer' template, the white border around the document is massive. In fact the actual printed area matches very closely the size of an A5 page. I have checked the page size, and unless there is a setting for it I have missed, it is A4 sized. In fact, I can show Pages' rulers to confirm it thinks the page is 21.0 x 29.7cm.
Retrying with a new tempplate, before editing it, prints as I would expect, right up to the very edges of the paper.
I have been through all the Instector pages and I can't see anything I recognise as the fault, that doesn't necessarily mean that it definitely isn't there somewhere though. I think I may have messed around with the little blue arrows in the rulers at one stage but finding them again doesn't answer it.
The only clue I have is it displays the page, when I'm editing it, with a large grey space to the left of the document, which looks about the same size as the missing page area. This document concerns the sale of a very expensive piece of property so it is quite important to me.
I enclose this picture hoping it will make answering the question easier...

Perfect answer!
That's fixed it... thanks Peter!

  • HP printer no longer prints Pages docs

My HP deskjet 5650 printer suddenly stopped printing Pages documents this afternoon after completing only 8 pages of a 10 page run. The printer does, however, print from other programs such as Preview, my Mac mail program, Appleworks, etc. So this problem seems specifically related to Pages. I uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled HP driver V 3.3.3 (Universal Binary), as the Software Update recommends. This still does not solve the problem. I've rebooted and turned the printer on and off, and even installed HP driver version 2.7.1 which is specifically for the Max OS X, but nothing seems to work. Any solutions?

It turns out that my HP printer DOES reproduce Pages '08 documents imported from Appleworks, but for some reason, it will not print 2 pages of the 10 page document I was trying to print. I looked at the embedded marks and other aspects of the document, but cannot find anything that makes them different and unprintable in Pages.

  • Repeating Frame leaves blank area on next page before record

I have a report with multiple repeating frames. Near the bottom of the first page the last repeating frame starts to print. If there are too many records to fit on the first page, they show up on subsequent pages. That is OK. However, on the 2nd, 3rd, etc. pages the records are part way down the page with much blank space between them and the header above.
I would like the records to start at the top of the next page just beneath the header. Also, because of another repeating frame before this one, I can't even be sure if this particular frame will always start printing on the first page.
I have tried properties such as page break, print object on, page protect, etc. They hve not resolved this issue to date.
Thanks in advance from a beginner.
    DT

    hello david
in this case you must consider what is printed on next pages ... for this i recomend newbie to colorize each frame and repeating frame to see what is there. from your describtion is possible that there are some objects on your frame with print condition set only to first page ... so they is not displayed on second, ... pages - this could happen f.e. with added descriptions, colmn heading, ... so my advice is to look why the space is there and then (maybe) make a correction ...

  • Blank spot in printed page - CP1518ni

My CP1518ni has always worked well, except for one new problem.  About one page in five includes a small (c. 1" long, 1/4" wide) blank space on the left side.  And a small amount of nearby type is slightly smudged.  The appearance is as though a single piece of shredded paper covered that part of the page.  But I've searched thoroughly and found nothing in the printer.   Is there anything to be done?

Hello, I see that you are getting a blank space on the left side of the page. I will certainly do my best to help you. Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector) This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation. Inspect the toner cartridge for damage:
    1. Remove the toner cartridge from the product and verify that the sealing tape has been removed.
    2. Check the memory chip for damage.
    3. Examine the surface of the imaging drum on the bottom of the toner cartridge.
CAUTION: Do not touch the roller (imaging drum) on the bottom of the cartridge. Fingerprints on the imaging drum can cause print-quality problems.
    4. If you see any scratches, fingerprints, toner or other damage on the imaging drum, replace the toner.
    5. If the imaging drum does not appear to be damaged, rock the toner cartridge gently several times and reinstall it. Print a few pages to see if the problem has resolved. You can calibrate and run a cleaning right from the printer's control panel. Calibrate the printer.
On the printer select the OK button/arrow to main menu system setup/print quality/calibrate color/calibrate now.
    Run a cleaning.
On the printer select the OK button/service/cleaning mode/OK.
    Print a Diags page.
On the printer select the OK button/main menu report/diagnostics page.
Check the alignment. Please try the steps in this document if you are still having issue. Resolving Print Quality Issues. Are you using Genuine HP Toner?

  • Alternating Printed Page then Blank Page, Deskjet 950C

MY Deskjet 950C suddenly decided to start alternating printed pages with blank pages, when printing any amount of pages or copies (blank comes second).
Operating this on Vista, connected via USB using the Vista driver (since HP doesn't offer Vista driver for older printer), the one that gives printer name as "Deskjet 950C/952C/959C".
I'm using Letter size paper, have tried all Paper Source settings (Auto, Upper Tray, Manual) and have set Scale To Paper Size to both Letter and No Scaling. Have tried Print Page: 1 and Print Current Page, still prints a blank after the printed page.
I use this as a 'workhorse" printer for bulk jobs. My HP C7250 All-In-One is working perfectly normal.
I've run out of ideas, and it's a pain to keep taking out those blanks.
    Any ideas anyone?

    Ok, strangely enough it stopped.
I went in to Media (paper Type) and changed it to HP Brightwhite Inkjet paper, then changed it back to Plain Paper, and it's not doing it anymore.
    Strange. Very Strange.

  • Acrobat 9 only prints page 1

I have recently upgraded to Acrobat 9 and now my documents are only printing page one of a multiple page document. Does anyone have any ideas of how to fix this problem? Acrobat is running from the Windows XP platform.

I am also having the same issue. It only seems to occur with a specific printer. I am currently having an issue with a Dell 5300 printer using a Post Script Driver. I can print to any other printer in the network just fine.

  • HT202879 Since opening an existing Pages doc, all the previously centred images and tables are now too far to the rights - leaving a large blank space to the left of each page. Any ideas reducing?

Since opening an existing Pages doc, all the previously centred images and tables are now too far to the rights - leaving a large blank space to the left of each page. Any ideas re fixing this?  Problem remains even when I open an earlier version on the previous version of Pages

It has always been that the upgrade tries to be the "master" over the older version.
Anyway in Pages 09 you have probably the Comments field showing, making all contetn to move to the right.
Go to View menu > Hide Comments.

  • I am not able to print pdf file from coursesmart website. i disabled flash plugin and only images are on the pages. When i preview, i only see blank page...help

    i disabled flash plugin.
    now i open site - http://www.coursesmart.com/9780495797494/2
page contains images. When i click on print preview button, i cant see anything.... also i tried all pdf plugins and extensions, but none help to convert/print page in pdf. please help. how can i print whole page to pdf?

Doesn't work in Google Chrome either.
Looks that the page has a lot of protection measures (context menu is disabled) and DIVs that overlay each other, so it is possible that the print routine only sees an empty DIV and not the image or the real page.<br />
That big image consists of two parts as you can see via Tools > Page Info > Media and the inspector.

  • Why are HP printer cartridges country specific? Is there any way around this?

I have just moved from the UK to Newfoundland, Canada and I have brought my HP PSC 1610 printer with me.  I was advised not to bring any cartridges with me because they would explode during the flight so I had to buy new cartridges upon arrival.
I noticed that the cartridge numbers recommended for my printer were similar but not exactly the same but the (HP, etc.) websites I looked at did not mention that HP printer cartridges country specific.
In the UK black cartridge is an HP338 (C8765EE).
In Canada the websites told me that the black cartridge is a 94 (C8765WC).
I ordered a 94 cartridge (which took an indordinate amount of time to be delivered) and when I installed it my printer would not accept it ("not intended for use in this printer" error message) even though it fit perfectly.  I looked at the packaging in greater detail and noticed that I had been sent a 94 (C8765WL) and I also noticed (in a very small font size) "for sale only in Latin America".
    My questions are therefore:
    1) Why are HP printer cartridges country specific?
    2) Is there any way around this?  Eg is there anything I can do to my printer/ laptop to tell it to accept this cartridge?
    3) Are 94/ C8765WL cartidges compatible with 94/ C8765WC cartirdges?  Ie did the supplier sell me something that couldn't be used even if I had a Canadian HP PSC 1610 printer?
    4) Can I return the cartridges to the supplier given that it is based in Canada, they delivered it to me in Canada and yet they sold me a product that says "for sale only in Latin America"?
    Thanks

You will need to Contact HP to request a "Regionalization Reset". There should not be any charge for this, it is covered as part of the cartridge warranty. You will need to have access to your computer and printer while on the line with HP. You will also need to have a set of cartridges for the new region, once the reset is complete cartridges from the original region will no longer work.  HP's web page on the subject is here.

  • After using my macbook for 2 years with same printer, all of a sudden I can't print a page doc even though printer is working and I can print from I/Mail, etc.Anybody had this happen and have a possible answer?

After using my MacBook Pro and pages for 2 years with the same printer, all of a sudden I can't print a pages doc even though the printer works and I can print from I/Mail, etc. Anyone have a possible answer?

Often printing problems are a sign of corrupt preferences. Go to HD > Users > (your account) > Library > Preferences, delete the com.apple.iwork.pages.plist file & then restart Pages.

  • Printing.  My prints are not printing at the proper size.  If I designate 5x7 it prints at something around 4x3.  I have set all the parameters.

My prints are not printing at the proper size.  If I designate 5x7 it prints at something around 4x3.  I have set all the parameters.

When you saye a you have set all the parameters, does that include the cell size in the print module? Are you printing on 5 x 7 paper? And, if you are, have you set that paper size in the page setup?

  • Pages gray areas around edges of document

On Pages I have created a brochure and when I print it, it cuts off part of the brochure. I selected show layout and it showed these gray areas around the brochure where it was cutting off part of the brochure. I can't get these gray areas to go away. How do I get them to go away?

I said they avoid the edges but since the non-printing borders vary from printer to printer, some can even print right to edges, a designer can only guess at what is reasonable. As Walt said, it is difficult to design a 3 fold brochure for the edge bleed because 1/3rd of the sheet isn't very big and the set back is quite large by comparison.
When you fold the brochure it is only the outer edge that doesn't print so it can look quite unbalanced.
You happened to pick the worst case, probably because it looked better on screen. It is laid out wrong too for the folds, they never allowed double the gutter to the insides of each leaf.
My kids have used that one umpteen times for school projects. We also use metric A4 so the problem is not quite as bad as the shorter US Letter.
I recognised the problem the first time they used the design and adjusted it to compensate.

  • Printing blank page with every printed page

I have a C7280 printer, and it has been working fine.  However, it now sends out one blank page for every printed page.  any ideas on why this is happening and how to fix it?

Whenever I try and use ebay, or amazon to print prepaid postage the print area is blank and obviously prints blank. This seems to happen to every application written presumably in java.
However, when I use google chrome this items print correctly. I have contacted the support departments of ebay etc and they have confirmed there are issues with Safari, but google Chrome works.
When will Apple sort this out as I do not want to move to google Chrome??
