Reducing file size for YouTube's 2 gig limits

Hello
Using Premiere Pro CS4.   I also have the Matrox  CompressHD which has its own settings.
I am dealing  with YouTube's 2 gig limit and I would like to know which of the  settings in the below screen capture I should adjust to help reduce file  size.
It's  for a Talking Head type video with little  action.
Looking forward to your suggestions.
Thanks

  • Reduce file size for web use

    Hello,
I created a website some months ago and I realize now the images are far too large and it takes a second for them to load. So I opened them in photoshop and changed the PPI to around 50, but the file size didn't shrink. I tried 10, and still nothing. I tried Save For Web and the file size got larger. Any ideas on how to keep the image quality (for web) but reduce the file size for easy page loading? Thank you.

Don't worry over the ppi value.  That's arbitrary.
You can reduce the pixel count, by resampling.  That will make an image smaller in a hurry.  To do this, Image - Image Size, check the [ ] Resample Image checkbox, and change the pixel counts.  I always set my Photoshop prefs so that I see the Image Size in pixels by default.  If yours isn't reading in pixels by default, change the units so that it is.
However, you may need to have your images be a certain size, in pixels, and so resampling isn't an option.  In that case, when you do File - Save As - JPEG (or use Save for Web & Devices), adjust the Quality value to get the image to the size you need.
    Hope this helps!

  • Reduce file size for posting

I am trying to upload some photos to eBay.  The original file size ris under 5Mb in Aperture but eBay claims it's too large at over 9Mb (the max apparently is 7Mb).
Rather than bang my head again the wall arguing I'd like to reduce the file size even more to say 2Mb in Aperture but have no idea how to do this.  Would changing the pixel vertical and horizontal count be an easier way?
I also have no idea how to do that despite searching Help yet again to no avail.  I tried reduce photos, reduce file size, reduce pixels... nothing relevant came up.
Sorry for being such a clutz but I never seem to get anthing from help but you guys always come up with the goods.

You can look at the exported files in the Finder to see the size the size and you can tell if it really is to big or if something else is going on.
So how did you export the images you tried to upload already? What settings did you use? There are a few different ways to control file size and which to use depends on how you plan on using the images.
Assuming you're exporting as JPG you can drop the quality slider down that will definitely bring the file size down but again without knowing how you exported how much over the file really is and how you plan on using them it's difficult to get more specific.

  • Reducing file size for export - best results???

I have put my art to eleven songs of a client. I am beginning to turn them into quicktime conversions movies and am trying Animation, Pixlet, H.264, Sorenson 3 (recommended by Apple Pro person). I cruntched all songs and looked at my folder - gulp - over 25 gigs (each song is approx. 3-4 gigs)...hum, can't get that on a DVD.
Now I am beginning to reduce quality, setitng key frames to automatic instead of all, reducing size. I am getting smaller file sizes but of course the stuff looks worse.
Any suggestions while I continue to try out everything? Any suggestions on the compression type? My art is moving stills from paintings, very ambient.
    Thanks,

I take it you just want to get the songs onto DVD If you put all of them in one sequence (timeline) what is the total length?
iDVD will allow you to export up to two hours of video regardless of file size
Export as Quicktime Movie (not Quicktime Conversion) and import that into iDVD ..or DVD Studio Pro for that matter
Quicktime Movie will keep the "native" quality of your FCE project.

  • Export file size for youtube

    Hi
After reading some of the comments regardind new users I am a little hesitant to pose my question . This is my first post.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained, so here goes.
I have a Panasonic X900 video camera which produces excellent shots at full HD1080i .(PAL  AVCHD))
The file coming from the camera is a .M2TS which I gather is a mpeg variation. A typical shot of 3 minutes is over 300meg.
I usually create a sequence from the clip and then edit the clip.
So far so good when I am exporting for use on a DVD.
I have been asked to video someone doing a dance sequence and to place this on YouTube.
(Original file size 300meg)Trying numerous settings, the smallest I can get my output file is using H.264 with a YouTube SD 360 wide screen Preset and this gives me 28meg.
I see numerous .MP4 videos on YouTube of 10 minutes or so and they are still only around 50meg and have reasonable full screen quality.
I have tried importing one of those and creating a sequence from it but they are normally NTSC and 29fps .
On the above basis, if I filmed a 9 minute clip and exported it as H.264 etc it would still be approx 70meg.
I have tried reducing the target bitrate and it certainlyreduces file size but poor quality.
If this is the best that can be achieved, then so be it.
Any suggestions on how to get a reasonable quality result while keeping the file size reasonable would be appreciated.
    Regards
    Brian

    We wont bite.
Well constructed full questions with detail and hardware / software info will usually get a good response.  Screen and frame grabs are helpful.

  • Reducing file size for transmission to photo store

I'm using PSE4 under WinXP Home SP2. I want to try out Ritz processing of transmitted photos.
My photo file sizes seem to average about 1.3M, which takes an inordinately long time to transmit. I doubt that I need that big a file to get quality 4x6 prints. I tried resizing the canvas size to 4x6, but ended up with a bigger file! Can somebody straighten me out?

Org would provide a very easy method, as you can export a copy of an image in any size you want.
Using Editor, you should work on a copy of your image files. Use Image Resize, with Resample checked; set the size to 6x4 and the PPI to 300. That should yield a sensible file size.

  • File sizes for youtube/web

I'm a still photographer getting my feet wet in video for the first time.
I use a Nikon D800 producing .mov files, and also a Canon Legria HF G25, producing files with an .MTS extension. Right now I have Canon footage of considerable length, several clips around 35 - 50 minutes, and now my employer wants me to put this up on our website, hosted by Youtube. That's OK, that I think I can manage.
But these files are huge no matter what I try. I go to the Export presets in PP and find the Youtube presets, and pick the smallest one, 845 x 480 pixels. These are mostly talking heads, so quality/resolution doesn't have to be very high. And still a 35 minute sequence weighs in at 2.2 gigabyte. That's a big file by my standards.
So. Is this normal size? Is there any way to compress further that I haven't seen?
BTW I'm using CC2014 full subscription and Premiere Pro is fully updated.

    OK, thank you very much.
As long as there's nothing about these numbers that makes your hair stand on end and think there's something horribly wrong here, I'll just go ahead and see how it works out.
Still, if someone has a trick for some extra compression, above and beyond what's considered "normal" (given that quality requirements aren't too high here), I'd like to hear. In still photography we can always crank the jpeg compression another notch if size is an issue. Things like that.

  • Automator pdf reduce file size action

I have a saved action to reduce file size  for pdfs and want to change the resolution, but it's grayed out. Can someone tell me how I can do this?
    Thank you!

    Cathy,
You have posted your question in a forum dedicated to the Final Cut Studio application Color. It is a very specialized program to grade (adjust) the color in video/film images. We know nothing regarding PDFs.
Have you tried posting this on an Adobe support site?
    Good luck,

  • Undo reduce file size

Worked up documents on Pages with multiple photos, some at high resolutions. Reduced file size for emailing and sending to dropbox and now want to print in an 18" x 24" size. Sample print is very blurrry How do I undo reduce file size? Would exporting file via pdf (best file quality) help? Any other suggestions. Much aprreciated.

    Hi Trudy,
Reducing file size works by reducing the file size of any high resolution images to 72 dpi, OK for on screen use, but quite pixelated if printed or enlarged. Here's an example:
Here's the original—This is a detail, enlarged to 400% on the screen, but reduced by the discussions software to fit on this page. Note the spider web below the frog.
Here's the warning you get when you choose Reduce File Size:
Note that it says it "replaces" the original versions of the images. Scarey thought, but not as permanent as it appears.
    Here's the result:
The frog's snout is quite pixillated, and the web has almost disappeared, as has much of the texture of the frog's skin and of the rough-sawn cedar siding behind. Again, a 400% enlargement on the screen, with the reduction imposed by the discussions software.
If you act at this point, it is possible to undo the change—throwing out the edited image and replacing it with the original version. The option appears to remain available even after the document is Saved, but disappears when it has been Closed. That would make sense, as Saving both the reduced image and the full version would not result in a reduction in file size.
But there's one other factor: When you drop an image onto a placeholder in Pages, the image that is inserted is a COPY of the original image file. The editing referred to above is done with that copy, not with the original image file, which continues to exist, unchanged where it was before being inserted.
To get the hi-res version back, then is a matter of dropping the original file onto the placeholder again.
    Seems to work.
    Regards,
    Barry

  • How to set option in Scanning for Reduced File Size

I am scanning from a Fujitsu 6230 scanner in Adobe Acrobat Standard 9.4.1. My scanning options are Color, 300DPI,Letter, High Quality, with Optimization options of Custom Settings of JPEG for Color/Grayscale. The scanned files are very large...1852KB per page. After using the Reduce File Size option and selecting Acrobat 8 and later, the file size is reduced to 187K. Is there a way to preset the Acrobat 8 or later setting....rather than having to do the two-step?
Also, if I use Fujitsu's scanning interface I get far higher quality pdf's,  with small file sizes, and lower scanning resolution......but without the option to append to a pdf, an option I use frequently. Apparently their program for converting the scanned image to a pdf is more robust than Adobe's. Is there a way to use their image->pdf engine within Acrobat?

    Hi Boatseller,
I will put this in simple way.
Can we set properties in biztalk wcf_custom adaptor like
    1. <security authenticationMode="UserNameOverTransport"
    2. enableUnsecuredResponse="True"
    or
     includeTimestamp="false"
    3. <textMessageEncoding
    messageVersion="Soap11"/>
    <httpsTransport/>
I am unable to find these properties in BizTalk wcf_custom adaptor properties. It will be great help if you could guide me in right direction . My problem is to receive response message into orchestration which is not having header. But the response is coming
from web service. I saw that in fiddler.
Also, If there is any steps to make these properties available in machine config, please share
    Thanks in advance

  • Why can I only "Save as Other... Reduce File Size" a single time for an Adobe X file?

We are struggling with our form editing in that anytime we make a change and save the file size is doubled.  As a work around we started using the ...Reduce File Size save as.   However, we can only use that once per file.    Some of our forms contain several hundred fields that are edited, with the behavior as is we cannot save our work as we go.
    Reproduction Steps...
    1. Open a file in Acrobat X and note it's file size.
    2. Make any kind of change (our work is focued on View>Forms>Edit)
    3. Go to File > Save as Other... > Reduce Size PDF
    4. Set Version Compatability to 'Retain Existing' and Save
    5. File size should be very close to the original
    6. Open the new file
    7. Rinse and repeat steps 2 and 3
    8. Note  that when you go to try to Save as the new edit, the Save As Reduce size is grayed out and no longer available for seslection.
    Please help!!!!

Just do a standard Save As. The problem is that Save includes the old and new. Save As deletes the old. Also, if you distribute the form it is locked from editing as I understand it.

  • I want to reduce pdf size up to 5mb for mailing perpose, anybody have any option to reduce it since I have used optimiser & reduce file size option but its not helpfull.

I want to reduce pdf size up to 5mb for mailing perpose, anybody have any option to reduce it since I have used optimizer & reduce file size option but its not helpful.

The optimizer can reduce space, but some things can't get smaller. Text for example. Play with the settings, examine the results of Audit Space Usage.
Or give up. Even 5 MB is too large for a bulk mailing, by far. Instead put it on your web site and mail a link - done!

  • Reduce pdf size for Livescribe files

Does anyone have Livescribe for Mac? I am trying to reduce the pdf size of these files once I convert, and having no luck with ColorSync filters.
    Any help would be appreciated!

When you have those scanned documents in the computer, and choose
Print> Save as PDF> what size file(s) are generated at the page level?
This may reduce files size from that of the original scan, since it would be
using a print alternative to 'save as pdf' instead of printing the file. Since
the system's Preview application as well as Adobe Reader can open the
print> save as pdf> files; you can check to see if this makes smaller pdf.
You could also set the defaults so screen-shot captures are .jpg and then
check their per-page file size to compare the difference. Perhaps one of
these methods could result in a way to send a smaller file of the content.
The .jpegs could be combined in a folder to be sent as a .zip attachment.
I've used OnyX to change the default screen capture to jpg from png; so
all screen shots (command shift 4, or 3) will make jpegs automatically.
There used to be some good freeware tools to change .PDFs, but the
ones I'd tried some years ago are either extinct or cost real money...
    Good luck & happy computing!

I have Windows 8.1, and when I right click on the Windows flag (bottom left), the menu gives me a "Search" option. When I enter "%temp%", it goes to " "my username"/ appdata/temp" which is a list of file 1718 file folders. Many are empty but I did a small sample. Is that the right place to delete?    I tried Windows- Disk Clean, but that did not help.

  • Trying to reduce file size

I have an eight-minute home movie that I've imported to quicktime pro after using a program to extract it from a dvd (using final cut - ntsc setting). it has no sound. the film is running around 1.23 gigs. In quicktime pro, I saved it as a hinted movie. I want to put it on the web so people can stream it, but it's way too big. Can anyone suggest a way of reducing its size without losing too much of its quality?
    thanks for any suggestions,
    jeff

It doesn't have sound as it is an MPEG-2 stream from a DVD (which has "muxed" audio which QT won't handle).
Open the source MPEG-2 file in MPEG Streamclip and export to Quicktime from within MPEG Streamclip.
If you want it small you can experiment with the various setting in particular the encoder (try MPEG-4), the bitrate limited to around 1000-1500 kbps (k little b not B) and reduce the size from 720X480 (DVD size) to 352X240.
Use AAC audio not uncompressed or the audio will make up 1/2 the file size.
Generally if you are not familiar with QT the best thing to do is take 30 seconds of a clip and export it with various options - bitrate, codec, audio compressor and bitrate and size. Make note of the resulting file size for 30 seconds and you can figure out how long 5 or 10 or 30 minutes will be. Sorenson 3 is popular but is bigger than H263 for example.
