Reducing number of dictionnary in firefox
Hi,
In order to get spell checking in firefox, I used the
archlinux wiki which suggest to install hunspell dictionnaries. I therefore installed hunspell-en but this gives us a very annoying number of english dictionnaries when trying to correct a mispelled word through the right-click context menu. Is it possible to reduce the number of dictionnary and keeping hunspell-en? Is there a smaller hunspell-en with only american dictionnary?
I think wiki should be improve on that specific point!
In fact I use French, English and Barzilian Portuguese dictionaries which gives me a total of 28 dictionnaries!!
The rationale was to change as little as possible in the package, I wasn't questioning the decision of what is included as a base, just asking to separate the base from the symlinks. I do find it cumbersome to have so many variants too, and that is why I made the feature request.
After the feature request was closed as a duplicate of a previous feature request, I did look into mythes-en and the only file provided is th_en_US_v2. I didn't look much into it but I'd say the reason to use the files being provided now is that there aren't other/more files that can be used and most of then are quite old.
The matter of providing en_US, en_CA and en_GB dictionaries might be connected with the existence of hyphenation dictionaries only for those variants. But then again you can have one thing installed and not have the other. You'd have to ask the reason to the dev that decided what to include.
On another note, I did make a split package implementing what I proposed/requested with a slight change in naming, if there is interest I can share the pkgbuild. I have also done the same for mythes-en and I guess I'll take a look into hyphen-en.

How can I reduce number of rows in Planning webform in Smartview?
Hi,
I downloaded a Planning webform into Smartview. I want to reduce the 1000 rows down to 20 for a particular user as he does not submit data for the other 980 rows. How can I reduce number of rows in Planning webform in Smartview?
Someone said that I can insert vlookup code into Smartiveiw pointing to a new worksheet that has only 20 rows. I could not test it as our Planning 9.3.1 has a bug that would not take sub variables from Smartview.
Thanks.Hi,
My first reaction is why do you have a form with a 1000 rows, surely this is a design issue and doesn't benefit anybody when entering data, anyway why not have security on the dimensions then users will only see what they have access to when they retrieve the form in smart view or through the planning web front end.
Cheers
John

How to reduce number of colors in an image
I am fairly new to Photoshop and I'm learning as I go, so I apologize for using your time. I haven't worked with images that much - I've used MS Digital Image Suite with photos from my camera. That's the extent of my knowledge.
I am taking over a job from someone who is gone and I can't ask him how to do this. He used Photoshop to reduce the number of colors in an image (for example, a color drawing or clipart) to 2-6 colors. I haven't been able to figure this out. I've visited this site that explains how to reduce tones but it's still a lot of colors. I thought I might learn something from this link that explained how to make Photoshop cartoons, but I didn't. I've done a lot of searching but nothing seems to explain this. I know that the other guy had some knowledge of Photoshop but he wasn't a power user.
Thanks to anyone who will help me. (I am using CS5.)Are you sure that he was using Photoshop? (see my third solution)
There are some plug-ins for Photoshop, but they basically do the same as the posterize or index mode: http://www.topazlabs.com/simplify/ (commercial) see this panel for colorizing comic art: http://vimeo.com/user3771002/videos
I would rather use posterize, as an adjustment layer, as you can control it.
Try with this layer stack, from bottom to top:
Convert the original image in a Smart Object, in order to use Smart filters and blur the image (Gaussian Blur, or noise>median or blur>smart blur or blur>surface blur could be interesting internatives) would be useful, to make smoother posterized areas.
A dodge/burn layers (a neutral gray layer in overlay mode) to adjust areas using the Dodge/burn tools.
the Posterize Adjustment layer, with very few colors
On top of it, put a gradient map adjustment layer, to control the posterized colors
Vectorizing in Illustrator can also be used to reduce the number of colors. Live Trace: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/illustrator/cs/using/WS714a382cdf7d304e7e07d0100196cbc5f-6229a .html

Reducing number of rows displayed causes error in Forms 6
I created a search page - really just a tabular form displaying 29 records and a scroll bar at the end. Each record has a button adjacent to it. The idea being that the user can search for a specific map in a field and have all records where that map is referenced displayed. When the user clicks the button a trigger takes it to a detail screen where the entire record (and 7 more screens) is displayed. Everything works fine.
Problem is I want to reduce the number of records displayed to 15, so I select the appropriate block in the object navigator, then change Number of Records Displayed from 29 to 15 and press enter - the number changes in the property palette - but nothing changes in the form.
When I compile the form I get the following error
FRM-30356: Too many records displayed for this item.
Item: MDD_NO
Block: SEARCH
Form: MODULE1
FRM-30085: Unable to adjust form for output.
If I change the rows displayed back to 29, everything works fine again.
Any idea of what I am doing wrong?
All help appreciated
GlennThank you - solved the problem
The number of items displayed property was set to 29 for each column on that page. As I usually only set the Items Displayed at the Data Block Level - I was suprised to see it set at the Item level.
Since this was the only page where it was set at the Item level - all my other multiple row pages are set at the Block level - Any idea what I may have done to cause this?
Thanks Again

Reducing Number of Data Points Acquired?
I am interested in knowing how to reduce the number of data points written to a file that was acquired at 5 Hz. I have tried to lower the sampling frequency below 5 Hz on a Compaq Daq, but I get an error saying that is an incorrect value. So, if I can't sample below 5 Hz, how do I acquire fewer data points, or how do I reduce the number of data points written to the file? I have tried Sample Compression which just ignores data points. So, an acquired value is written multiple times at the same rate as having no compression at all. I calculated the sampling frequency from the data file witha compression ratio of 20, 30, and 40 to still be at 5 Hz.
If you want to "compress" your data then you should perhaps try the "Decimate (single shot) VI " Owning Palette: Signal Operation VIs. With this VI you can average down an array. If you have an array sampled with 5Hz and you set the decimating factor to 5, and average=true. Then the output will be an an array downsampled to 1 Hz, with each value equal to the average value of 5 samples in the input array. The decimate function is quite new. It came in Labview 8.2
Besides which, my opinion is that Express VIs Carthage must be destroyed deleted

[No need]Reducing number of post-install packages (fresh Arch + XFCE)
Hi,
I am inspired by posts by slithery in post-install package count; his discussion here and my willingness to follow-foot steps. Need suggestions/tips what packages can be removed based on details below.
1. Defining usage:
Normal PC having XFCE, thunderbird, firefox, yaourt and wine (for MS-Office with 32bit libs unfortunately needed for work) with 64-bit stock kernel. Other utilities include eog (image viewer), PDF viewer, cups, simple-scan, hplip + hplip plugin, dvd burner and some fonts packages.
I have attempted to remain native on XFCE while installing utilities/needs to avoid unnecessary dependencies unless some functionality needed (such as eog).

5. Packages removable IMO
More could be possible based on suggestions, but IMHO and is it safe?:
|Package Name | Reason |
|---------------------------|--------------------------------------------------------------
|man-db 2.7.1-1 | For me: Wiki, Google and Forums are > what I need. |
|man-pages 3.81-1 | For me: Wiki, Google and Forums are > what I need. |
|xterm | xfce4-terminal is installed so is it needed? |
|reiserfsprogs | No need for reiser FS support (if it is what package does). |
|jfsutils | No need for JFS support. |
|xfsprogs | No need for XFS support. |
|lvm2 | I think no need for logical VM (but not sure). |
|mdadm | I think no need for md devices monitoring/managing. ]
|---------------------------|--------------------------------------------------------------
|xfwm4-themes | No big fan of theming unless required for XFCE. |
|btrfs-progs | No need for btrfs support (if it is what package does). |
|ipw2100-fw | No need for Intel centrino drivers. |
|ipw2200-fw | No need for Intel PRO/wireless. |
|zd1211-firmware | I think no need for in-kernel26 zd1211rw wireless driver. |
6. Please guide what further can be removed.
Thank you for time.
Update: Del packages are already removed based on learning/thread discussion so far.

Reducing number of columns in case query
Hi all,
I am operating on 10G R/2.
I have a query which produces the columns with the number of counts.
SUM (CASE WHEN LTRIM(RTRIM(W_O)) ='ROKOLBIN' THEN 1 ELSE 0 END) AS "O_ROKOLBIN",
SUM (CASE WHEN LTRIM(RTRIM(W_I)) = 'ROKOLBIN'THEN 1 ELSE 0 END) AS "I_ROKOLBIN",
sum(case when LTRIM(RTRIM(W_O)) ='GULURU' then 1 else 0 end) as "O_GULURU",
sum(case when LTRIM(RTRIM(W_I)) ='GULURU' then 1 else 0 end) as "I_GULURU",
sum(case when LTRIM(RTRIM(W_ON ))='PURE' then 1 else 0 end) as "O_PURE",
I would like to reduce teh number of columns to 2,
One column is for Division.Division can be either O_ROKOLBIN,I_ROKOLBIN,O_GULURU,I_GULURU,O_PURE
The other column is Subtotal.Subtotal are teh sums as above ,SUM (CASE WHEN LTRIM(RTRIM(W_O)) ='ROKOLBIN' THEN 1 .
Can anyone advie how can I acheiev this.
Thanks.Hi,

Hi all,
Thank you for your wonderful ideas,
I took it onboard and redesigned the query to add the dates.
<pre>
SELECT
DATE_DIVISION week_start_date ,
next_day ( DATE_DIVISION - 7, 'Sunday' ) + 6 week_end_date ,
to_number(to_char(DATE_DIVISION,'WW') )week_no ,
'I_'||W_I AS DIVISION ,
COUNT(W_I) CNT
FROM TEST A
</pre>I get an error when I run that. Don't you need to say TEST_A, with an underscore?
<pre>
GROUP BY DATE_DIVISION, next_day ( DATE_DIVISION - 7, 'Sunday' ) + 6, to_number(to_char(DATE_DIVISION,'WW') ), 'I_'||W_I
</pre>
At the moment query is coming up like this:
12-Jan-10 14-Jan-10 2 I_GULURU 1
12-Jan-10 14-Jan-10 2 I_GULURU 1
12-Jan-10 14-Jan-10 2 I_PURE 1
12-Jan-10 14-Jan-10 2 I_PURE 1
12-Jan-10 14-Jan-10 2 I_GULURU 1
12-Jan-10 14-Jan-10 2 I_GULURU 2
12-Jan-10 14-Jan-10 2 I_GULURU 1
12-Jan-10 14-Jan-10 2 I_ROKOLBIN 1
12-Jan-10 14-Jan-10 2 I_GULURU 1

12-Jan-10 14-Jan-10 2 I_GULURU 1I don't think you're getting this output from the sample data you posted. The dates in the sample data are all in February. It would really help if you posted the actual data, and the results you want from that data. In this case, I suspect the whole problem is that the dates in your real data (unlike your sample data) all have different times. If that's so, use TRUNC (date_division), instead of date_division, like this:
SELECT TRUNC (date_division) AS week_start_date
, next_day ( TRUNC (date_division) - 1
, 'Saturday'
) AS week_end_date
, TO_CHAR ( date_division
, 'FMWW'
) AS week_no
, 'I_' || w_i AS division
, COUNT (w_i) AS cnt
FROM test_a
GROUP BY TRUNC (date_division)
, TO_CHAR ( date_division
, 'FMWW'
, w_i

Reduce number of values available in variable selection before query execut
I have a query with a variable for the product number.
When I start the web query a popup appears. Here I can use the search help to select a product number. The search help displays all product numbers in the system. I would like the search help to offer only product numbers belonging to a certain product group. This would allow the user to select one product number from a much shorter list.
It seem that it is possible to do this AFTER the query has been executed and the query results are displayed if the InfoObject properties in the query for "Query Execution Filter Val." have been set to "Only Posted Values for Navigation".
But I would like to reduce the available values in the search help before the results are displayed.
Of course one can always modify the InfoObject and assign a new search help to the InfoObject's data element. But our company doesn't allow modifications.
Cheers,
MartinHi Naidu,
the product number is already compounded with the controlling area, so I checked to see whether your suggestion would work. It does!
Unfortunately, I will probably not be allowed to change the product number as it has been used in to many cubes, queries, etc.
Any other ideas?
Thanks,

Reduce number retries for an automated activity on a fault-message
Hi everyone,
is it possible to reduce the number of retries if an automated activity gets a fault response? With correcting my logical destinations it was possible for me to achieve communication to a webservice outside the netweaver.
Now I tried the same with a selfmade deployed process and it "worked" - too good. When the automated activity tries to call the webservice, which is a synchromous bpm-process I created, it recieves a fault message. This fault.message is a "the process has been triggered" message that starts my next process. Now that the automated activity gets the "error" I wanted it retries 3 times to get a working connection with the service - so I get 3 new process instances. Is it possible to reduce the retry-counter and if yes, where can I do that? I already looked for this option in the service registry and in the logical destination settings. There isn't an option in the NWDS for the automated activity and i haven't found something in the help.sap.com,
And yes I know that this isn't usefull for an operativ system.
With kind regards,
MarkusHi Markus,
The number of retries is configured internally and cannot be modified on a per automated activity basis. To cover this use cases (BPM process A calling BPM Process B via WS), it is recommend to define the service interface of the process B as "one -way" (request without response) so that no SOAP fault it returned if case of successful start. In case an issue occurs during the start of process B, a SOAP fault will be returned.
Hope this helps,

The top right corner of the screen allows you to reduce the size of your entire image on Firefox . I used to be able to do this so I could drag the image to another screen . Suddenly I cannot do so anymore from my laptop. What can I do ?
Could you clarify where you are doing your search?
''For Firefox's "Search bar",'' which is the box on the right end of the main navigation toolbar with the icon indicating your currently selected search engine, there is a hidden setting for this:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''sear''' and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the '''browser.search.openintab''' preference to switch it from false to true.
If you test, does it work?
''For searches from other places,'' could you be more specific about where you are entering your query (e.g., address bar, built-in home page, on a search engine site)? -
Reduce number of rings before Voicemail
I would like to reduce the number of rings before my voicemail comes on on my Blackberry Z10. It is forwarded from my desk phone and that means that customers are waiting an excessive amount of time before my voicemail kicks in on my BB. I called my carrier (Rogers) and they said they were unable to do this. I'm not sure if their tech support was correct in this, as I've seen on other forums that this is the process by which you change the length of the ring tones.
Is there a way to reduce the number of rings before voicemail on my Blackberry Z10 in my settings?
Thanks*61 *NNN NNN NNNN *11 *X#
Where X is ranges from 5 to 30 seconds before a call get forwarded to the voice mailbox
And NNN NNN NNNN is the VoiceMail number provided by the Carrier
You can locate the Carrier Voicemail Number in

6310i reduce number of rings before voice mail cut...
Can anyone help as to how I reduce the number of times the phone rings before voice mail cuts in?
When you set the Call Divert, there should be an option for delay, with preset options up to a maximum of 30 seconds I think.

Reduce number of running thread under Linux
Hello,
How can reduce the number of running thread for coldfusion MX
7.0.2 server under Linux (they are almost 30; )If you create a pool of any sort you will need a point where all requests for a resource from the pool must go via, and that piece of code could potentially become a bottle neck. But if you develop it well there will be a very small piece of code that is sychrnonized that will either put a request in a queue as there are no resources available, or it will provide the requested resource. As far as i am aware there is no safe way around this as you will have multiple threads requesting the resource.

Reduce number of colors in an Image
Hi,
I have a bufferedimage that is a screenshot of my pc, what can i do to reduce the number of colors in the image to 512 or somthing? The final image will be in JPEG form.
ThanksI tried this code, but there must be a bug or something cos most things turn black and red....even when i specify 512 colors...I saw http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=31&thread=446716 that someone else had this problem, but i did not find a fix. Its weird cos I used another java quantizer that did the same thing..
Here is my code:
byte[] = toByteArray(getScreenshot());
/*****Takes a screenshot*****/
private BufferedImage getScreenshot() {
try {
Robot robo = new Robot();
Rectangle rect = (GraphicsEnvironment.getLocalGraphicsEnvironment().getDefaultScreenDevice().getDefaultConfiguration().getBounds());
BufferedImage img = robo.createScreenCapture(rect);
return img;
} catch (AWTException exc) {
exc.printStackTrace();
return null;
/*****Saves a BufferedImage as a JPEG*****/
private byte[] toByteArray(BufferedImage img) {
try {
//WANT TO QUANTIZE img HERE
//Encode
ByteArrayOutputStream out = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
JPEGImageEncoder encoder = JPEGCodec.createJPEGEncoder(out);
JPEGEncodeParam param = encoder.getDefaultJPEGEncodeParam(img);
param.setQuality(.45f, false);
encoder.encode(img, param);
out.flush();
out.close();
return out.toByteArray();
} catch (Exception e) {}
return null;
}
