Reducing size for upload

I want to upload videos to youtube. They are of my husband's band, taken with a Fujifilm camera. The file sizes are around 50 to 650 mg (AVI). YouTube will only upload 100mg or less. I upgraded to QuickTime Pro just so I could do this. I have looked everywhere and cannot figure this out.

I don't understand how I would do this. Can I use QuickTime Pro?
Yes, depending on desired export format and compression components installed.
We thought we could use QuickTime Pro to resize our AVI's.
Re-compression to AVI container is limited to QT compatible compression formats and installed QT third-party components.
What is the difference between reg QT and pro?
The QT "structure" are a set of modules/software routines built into the newer Mac OS. The QT Player is a free media player that access the QT structures for playback. QT Pro is merely the "unlocking" of calls to the QT structures to convert and/or edit the already playable content. Be advised, however, that the ability to convert to QT files requires specific "encoder" codecs and the ability to export from QT to other formats requires specific "export" codecs. These codecs are either built into the QT structure or must be installed by the end user. Many such codecs are proprietary and must be purchased. (E.g., DivX and WMV.) "Standard" MPEG-1 files are playback only supported in QT and attempts to convert them in QT will lose audio. MPEG-2 is not natively supported by QT and requires the purchase of the QT MPEG-2 Playback component. This component does not allow the export of MPEG-2. If a specific codec is not supported in QT, you can always download and/or purchase converters for this purpose like Visual Hub, or components like DivX Pro or Flip4Mac Studio.

  • Reducing kb size for uploading/emails

    Hi there,
I have not had my new iMac long and am still getting the hang of using iPhoto and am a bit of a techno dodo at times.
My problem is that I have no idea how to reduce photos in pixel/kb size for uploading onto the web and for emailing to freinds and family.
I have tried using help but not getting very far.
I know there is probably a very easy answer to this, it is just that I have missed it somewhere.
    Thankyou for your help.

What are you using for E Mail? If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto, and that process allows yo to scale the pics.
If you're using anything else, then select the pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. In the export dialogue you have the opportunity to scale the pics, among other things. Then complete the export to the desktop and upload that copy. After the upload or e mail is finished you can trash the copy on the desktop - your original is safe in iPhoto.

  • Photo sizes for upload

    Stupid question of the day:
If I just drag and drop photos from either iPhoto or a camera memory card directly to a page in iWeb, does iWeb 'downsize' the photo so I'm not really posting a photo a few meg. in size? Or do I have to rescale/resize to reduce the photo prior to dragging it to an iWeb page to improve page loading times?
Thanks for explaining how this works...

  • Reduce size for import

Greetings. I'm trying to make a postcard or otherwise half-page document with a photo from my library. When I attach/import the photo, it attaches very large and can't be used. I've tried cropping - but the photo imports so large that cropping is clumsy and doesn't seem to be the right tool. I'm simply trying to reduce the image size - make a thumbnail, if possible. Thank you!!

    Hi EmmieLou,
You need to reduce the resolution of the image down to 72dpi. The best program for image manipulation is Adobe Photoshop, but its rather expensive. You could also try Photoshop elements which is superb value for money. The most eceonomical route is to give GraphicConverter a go. The basic version is downloadable and if you want to upgrade to the Pro version its not too much as it is Shareware. Here's a link where you can download it:

    Good luck.

    Hi ,
If you are looking to limit the number of characters that can be entered to the field from GUI then a global side effect and rule combination will help you achieve it . It would be something like this :
This is done by leveraging Side Effects under Rules - Rules Activation Conditions. You also need to set the Rule as Global for this to be effective across the system.
In there the following has to be set:
    <$dDocTitle:maxLength=80$>
    <$dDocName:maxLength =50$>
Set the above side effect in the rules and corresponding Profile need to refer it for being able to limit the number of characters that can be entered for Title and Content ID.
Custom metadata too can be controlled in the same way . For example, if metadata "Version" need to limit the number of characters being entered then "Side Effects" to be set is as follows :
    <$xVersion:maxLength=50$>
NB - the maxLength parameter is not supported for fields of type Memo. It will only take effect on standard text fields.
    Thanks,

  • Image Sizes for Uploading SAP B1

I have a customer who has been trying to upload images into the Inventory Master Data of SAP B1, however when uploaded the images appear distorted and stretched. Does anyone happen to know the correct sizes that the images are meant to be, so that they are clear?

    Hi,
You can do this after uploading images.
Goto Administration --> System Initilization -> General Settings-> Display Tab --->
Toggle the value of "Ext. Image processing" drop down to "full" or "partial".
If you are setting the background images as well then goto  "Font & Path" Tab
& toggle the values of Image Display drop down.
    Regards.

  • How to reduce size of pics saved in iPhoto?

How do i reduce the size of a pic that is already saved in iphoto?

You can't. iPhoto is specifically designed to protect your original photo. You cannot change it in any way.
If you want a reduced size for use somewhere else - to upload to a website or similar - then you can reduce the size on Export, using the File -> Export command.
    This User Tip
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4921

  • Way to limit image size on uploaded images?

Hello! Is there a way as administrator that you can limit image size for uploaded images? (Like in Contribute) Thanks so much

    Hello mikkiblaes,
There isn't a way to limit the size of an image that is uploaded in InContext Editing, but there is a built-in file size limitation of 2MB. As the InContext Editing Browser help states:
Once you've inserted the media element, you can resize the asset by dragging the resize handles around it, or by changing the width and height values in the Media toolbar. (Make sure the asset is selected when you do this.) To maintain width and height proportions when you resize, make sure the lock option is selected. (It's selected by default).
This type of feature has been requested a couple of times:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/991229
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/1994111
And we would greatly appreciate your feedback on how you would envision this working.

  • Error message when uploading book for printing. All images are jpg and rgb. Could they be too large to upload? What size is required and how do I reduce size in Aperture?

I receive an error message when I upload my book for printing. Not sure what the problem is. All my images are jpg and rgb. Could they be too large as it takes about 15minutes to upload to Apple. How do I reduce the size of the image in Aperture?

    Hi Leonie,
    Thanks for your reply.
Error message below. The preview is fine . I can discount the first 2messages as its a new computer so plenty of disk space and upload doesn't seem to be interrupted. I have uploaded to iphoto before. have tried to upload 3times with the same error message. I had to photo my slides with a Kaiser Baas photo maker , which apparently doesn't scan but takes photos in megapixels of the slides. I am wondering now if the format is incompatible though they are jpg files or the colour type wrong. The image files are  around 1-3 mb each and  72 ppi. I think  I will now scan them properly with a scanner to 300dpi anyway to improve quality.
Apple  talks about image files not being too big for uploading but gives no sizing of what too big is?
    Error message
    1. Upload Error. Loss of connection or file corruption during order upload may cause an incomplete order. Resubmitting your order usually resolves this issue.
    2. Low Disk Space. If your computer is running on low disk space, your files may be assembled incorrectly. Create more space by deleting unused files.
    3. Unreadable PDF file or image files. Files are sometimes assembled incorrectly due to CMYK or Grayscale color space. Use the RGB color space for best results.

  • ALBPM 6.0 : The maximum size for file uploads has been exceeded.

    Hi,
I use AquaLogic BPM Entreprise server to deploy my Process. When I try to publish a process on my server I get the following error:
    An unexpected error ocurred.
    The error's technical description is:
    "javax.servlet.jsp.JspException: null"
    Possible causes are:
The maximum size for file uploads has been exceeded.
If you are trying to publish an exported project you should publish it using the remote project option.
If you are trying to upload the participant's photo you should choose a smaller one.
An internal error has ocurred, please contact support attaching this page's source code.
    Has someone resolve it?
    Thank's.

    Hi,
Sure you've figured this out by now, but when you get the "Maximum size for file uploads" error during publish consider:
    1. if your export project file is over 10mb, use "Remote Project" (instead of "Exported Project") as the publication source. That way when you select the remote project, you will point to ".fpr" directory of the project you are trying to publish.
Most times your project is not on a network drive that the server has access to. If this is the case, upload the .exp file to the machine where the Process Administrator is running, then expand it in any directory (just unzip the file). Then, from the Process Administrator, use the option to publish a Remote Project by entering the path to the .fpr directory you just created when unzipping the project.
    2. Check to see if you have cataloged any jars and marked them as non-versionable. Most of the times the project size is big just because of the external jar files. So as a best practice, when you do a project export select the option "include only-versionable jars", that will get reduce the project size considerably (usually to Kb's). Of course you have to manually copy the Jar files to your Ext folder.

  • Lightroom 1.4.1:  Reducing File/Image Size for Web/E-Mail

This should be a simple thing.
I need to reduce my file size to upload it into various things on the web and e-mail and what not.  Sometimes it asks for a specific size.
Right now, I'm using the Export function to do this, which means I have to reset the Image Settings each time in order to get to the size required.
Isn't there and easier way to do this, like just type in the image size you want and have the program reset the image proportionately?
Is there a ratio chart for this, like 1000 x 1400 = # of bytes?
This is a function used all the time--I can't believe it's this cumbersome.

    Banktank wrote:
    (a)     How do I know I am selecting the correct pixel size for e-mail?  Just keep hunting and pecking until I find the right mix or is there a number combination that works consistently?  And if the latter is correct, what is that number combination.
I just can't believe that reducing the MP size to get it in shape for an e-mail "thumbprint" photo is this tough.  Even with the 'preset', I'd have to set up a preset for every picture because they vary by MP and the scaling seems to change.
There is no "standard" size for sending images via email. Just make it small. There is a save for email preset in recent releases of Lr. You can download the demo and see what that entails.
You don't have to create a preset for each picture. I don't know what you would say that. Yes, the amount it compress varies with the information in the image, but this has always been the case with JPEGs. You don't have to make an image that is exactly some size. You just have to make it small enough for most MTAs and MUAs to handle. Since there is no real standard for this, just make it small enough for you.
Something like 800px on the longest side, 70-80% quality should do it to find the JPEG compression sweet-spot.

  • Export photo but size is too big and magnified for uploading to web

    Hi
I have tried to export a photo from IPhoto using Export function, selecting small then exporting to Desktop.  When I tried to upload to the web, the picture is very large and takes up the whole screen.  Even if i demagnify the picture before saving it, it is still very big.  I have tried to crop but this does not help.
Please can you advise a quick and simple way to make pictures smaller visually.  (When I used Window, I used Paint which did the job).
    Thank you

    Thanks for the link.
I'm not clear as far as size of file goes, and also to preview how it looks before exporting it.  I went to the File Export tab and should I wish to select "Size" then "Small", what size will that be on the screen? Or should I goto "Web Page", then if I goto "Image", I am sure what to reduce the 640 down to, but say if I half it, would that be a reasonable size on the screen/web page?
I'm just trying to find a quick way to resize pictures for uploading to the web... but it's still a big vague to me.

  • How to increase page size for balance file upload in Workspace.

    Hi All,
Please suggest how to increase page size for balance file upload in shared Workspace pages.
    Thanks,

A word of caution is in order regarding changing from facing to non-facing and back again. If you have overridden master page items, you'll get a second, non-overridden copy on all the even-number pages when that half of the master page is re-applied. This applies to master text frames which override automatically when text flows into them as well as to objects you manually override. I think you'll find this particular technique also only works for master text frames, whereas the Layout Adjustment should work in all situations where frames snap to guides.
