Redundancy from ibm os/390 tcpip to dual routers

I have 2 routers that have single escon connections to the same mainframe tcpip stack (os/390 2.9). What is the best way to provide failover from mainframe should one router fail. this involves mainly ibm tcpip configuration and would prefer to do without routing on mainframe and have to pass routing updates between mainframe and routers. Has anybody set up this scenario?

Have you looked at using VIPA .

    Yes, you can use a 30GB drive, as long as it's PATA/IDE and laptop size.
    Hope this helps.

  • Translation library for Oracle 8.1.6 on IBM oS/390

    Has anyoune an idea about the translation library for accessing through ODBC an Oracle 8.1.6 installed on IBM OS/390?
    The same driver works fine on Oracle 8.1.7 on Sun Solaris, but when I access the OS/390 Oracle I find "strange" character, certainly due to the EBCDIC-ASCII translation.
    What have I to give as "translation library" and "translation option" in the driver configuration?
    TIA

    Is there any additional steps required after migrating Oracle Apps 11i(11.5.10.2) from IBM AIX 5.3 to 6.1? Are you cloning or upgrading the OS?
    If you want to upgrade the OS, then you need to make sure you install all OS pre-req software and packages aftet the upgrade and relink executable files.

  • Conversion from IBM BookMaster to Pages

    I would like to convert several large documents from IBM BookMaster (Script VS) to Pages '09. Currently, source is in z/VM ASCII and marked-up with GML.
    I wrote some utilities to do the general tag-removal work and the samples look fine when imported to Pages. There are two functions which I am unable to replicate and was wondering whether anyone could suggest a technique to achieve the results in Pages.
    Firstly, self-incrementing variables; an element which displays a number and increments in value with each occurrence.
    Secondly, internal page-number reference links; ... see section +name from link+ on page +linked value+ for details...
    Any help with these items and general U/E with the conversion process would be greatly appreciated.

    I wouldn't know how to convert from IBM AFP Advanced Function Presentation as page description language to PCL, PS, PDF or XPS. With regard to converting from IBM GML (which I take it stands for Graphics Markup Language, as an SGML implementation), your best bet may be to map your markup from IBM GML to ISO OOXML. Adobe XMP Extensible Markup Platform should be in the initial stages of an international standard. In reality, relatively lossless repurposing revolves around three dimensions of unification: unification of the character information (ISO-IEC 10646), unification of the colour information (ISO 15076) and unification of the content information (structure information). It's a bit of a jungle, though .

    hI,
    I've found the solution!!
    My code was wrong, the correct way is:
    DATA:  image type XSTRING,
                imagelength type i.
    DATA: it_img TYPE w3mimetabtype.
    CALL FUNCTION 'SSFC_BASE64_DECODE'
       EXPORTING
         b64data = output-CONVERT_FROM_URL_RESULT
       IMPORTING
         bindata = image
       EXCEPTIONS
         OTHERS  = 8.
    CALL FUNCTION 'SCMS_XSTRING_TO_BINARY'
       EXPORTING
         buffer                = image
         "APPEND_TO_TABLE       = ' '
       IMPORTING
         OUTPUT_LENGTH         = imagelength
       tables
         binary_tab            = it_img.

  • Migrating from IBM-Hyperion solution to Hyperion solution

    Hi,<BR><BR>in our production system there is IBM-Hyperion solution, but we need to migrate to Hyperion only solution, because IBM has decided that will no more support IBM-Hyperion solution. But looking to web page <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://dev.hyperion.com/products/">http://dev.hyperion.com/products/</a> I am little of confused there are two lines of products: "Hyperion System 9 Products" and "Other Available Products". What should be appropriate migration path? Should we migrate to "other available products" list or to "Hyperion System 9"? What is the main difference between theres two?<BR><BR>My production system:<BR>- Intel server (2 CPU using hyperthreating technology - so Windows see 4 CPUs)<BR>- Windows 2003<BR>- Analytic server (Essbase) 7.1.0 (this is equal to IBM DB2 OLAP Server 8.2)<BR>- Analyzer server 7.0.19.01830 (this is equal to IBM DB2 OLAP Analyzer server 8.1)<BR>- DB2 for Windows v8.2 (database server)<BR>- Java JRE 1.3.1_09 on clients computers <BR><BR>Thanks,<BR>Grofaty

    Hello grofaty,<BR><BR>please find my answers below your questions:<BR><BR>"is there possible to migrate from IBM to Hyperion to both lines of products 7 and system 9?"<BR>- You have to check the hyperion website to exactly know which IBM version and therin the Hyperion version can be migrated to the official Hyperion version. They always told us that the IBM version is very similar to the Hyperion version but in one case Hyperion was not able to reproduce our Analyzer problem because they hadn't had the IBM code in their support laboratory. Therefore it makes sense to bind Hyperion over to make a proof of concept for the migration. (E.g. we had problems with rule-files' language setting on WAS, we migrated them via Tomcat on a notebook to WAS on our test system!).<BR><BR>"Is there a migration process between 7 and system 9 in "Essabse server" and "Analyzer server"?"<BR>- If you like we can exchange our experience which is a collection of consulting know-how and our own experience.<BR><BR><BR>"Why does Hyperion sells two products lines (system 9 and 'other available products'? Are there huge differences? Can this products be easy of migrating from one to another?"<BR>-As far as I know/read there are differences in the license model because system 9 is rebundled in comparison with 7 and you buy more products than in 7 = ergo the price is higher!<BR>You can first buy named licenses for e.g Essbase 7 and then buy an upgrade to Essbase System 9 (e.g in system 9 Essbase is split into ASO and BSO products!!!)<BR>...ask your sales rep. from Hyperion and compare with other companies about special agreements to have a better bargaining position.<BR><BR>bye<BR><BR>knightrich<BR><BR>

  • JCOP from IBM

    Does anybody have any information or hands-on experience regarding JCOP cards from IBM. I've read the document provided by IBM that they are suppose to have "native-like" performance, etc. What differs those cards from normal Java Cards from Schlumberger, Oberthur or Gemplus. Are there any compability issues?
    Best regards
    Jonas

    THere are a few vendors, like Gemplus that use the
    JCOP mask. Ask your implementor if they use the JCOP
    mask. Most of vendors don't like to reveal that
    information.
    Because JCOP is native, there aren't any compatibility
    issues because you can't call native methods with Java
    Card. Your applet is a W.O.R.A.. I can take the
    samples from the Sun Java Card kit and load on various
    cards with minor issue. Those issues are the tools
    used to load are different but there aren't any
    changes to the code. Thanks for the reply. The reason I asked is that I read some information regarding the card on IBM's website, and they are saying that the performance of an applet running on a JCOP card is much better than on a 'normal' Java Card. They describe the performance of the applet as 'native-like'. That's why I wondered if the JCOP card differ from other 'normal' Java Cards when it comes to compatibility issues, etc, but I guess that is not the case then.
    What do you mean by 'you can't call native methods with Java Card'? Do you mean that time consuming functions such as cryptography, etc is not done native on the card?
