Redundant MOH Server and multicast addressing

Per SRND:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps556/products_implementation_design_guide_chapter09186a00806e8c28.html#wp1043768
I want to use the 2nd method:
"Configure separate media resource groups (MRGs) for the same MoH server, with one MRG configured to use multicast for audio streams and the second MRG configured to use unicast. "
as well as use redundancy. My questions is:
Can I use the same multicast address (ie 239.1.1.1) for primary and backup moh server or do I need to put in a 2nd multicast address (ie 239.1.1.2) on the backup MOH server.
Thanks

Maybe for second Multicast MOH server, start at 239.1.10.1 or like 239.1.1.50.
Sankar is right, but if you add multiple audio source files and have like 4 multicast audio sources then it may start higher up for the audio source you are using.
In my time working on fixing systems I've seen people don't maintain/delete old audio sources so starting second MOH server at 239.1.1.11 could cause problems/conflicts potentially.
It would also be nice if they displayed the mcast address used for each audio source in CCMadmin so admins could see it easily without having to figure it out. Or for people who aren't aware of how the addresses increment per codec/audio source.

  • Migrate WSUS server from 2003x86 to 2008x64, new hardware, use same name and IP address?

Searching through the WSUS forums and reading the TechNET migration documentation, I have bits and pieces of information to make this a smooth transition...I think. I have a plan in mind but
would like the communities input on what I am thinking before moving forward and having it blowup in my face :). <o:p></o:p>
    I have the following currently:<o:p></o:p>
A single WSUS 3.0 SP2 server, running on Server Win2003x86, using the default WID (susdb.mdf) on the same server. I have SQL 2005 Express installed on this server as well for other services
but this has no bearing on the WID correct?<o:p></o:p>
What I would like to do:<o:p></o:p>
I have a new server (a much better one) that I would like to move WSUS on to, that will be running Server Win2008x64 (I have to setup first). <o:p></o:p>
Steps that I would like to follow:<o:p></o:p>
    1. I will go through and setup this new server with all M$ updates etc... under a new name (ex. wsusnew) and DHCP acquired IP address and then power it down. <o:p></o:p>
    2. Get on my current WSUS server and backup all current WSUS settings, groups, DB etc... to a network location for temporary storage. Then power it down.<o:p></o:p>
    3. Delete the current WSUS server computer object in AD, DNS entry I will leave because my intension is to give the same IP address to the new WSUS server.<o:p></o:p>
    4. Start the new server, static assign the IP address from the old WSUS server to this new server and then change the name of (wsusnew) to the old servers name, which should be ok sense I deleted
the AD object in step 3.<o:p></o:p>
    5. After the obvious restart, the new server will have the same name and IP address as the old server. <o:p></o:p>
    6. Now that the new server is up (with same settings name/IP as old server), I will then go through and install the WSUS role on the server and restore my WSUS information.<o:p></o:p>
    Questions:<o:p></o:p>
    1. Step 2 above, is it possible to do this, without making replica servers? I kept reading about this as I was researching doing this, I would rather just copy the DB and folders and simply
put them in-place on the new server.<o:p></o:p>
    2. Step 6 above, restoring of the data, what is the proper way to do this in the scenarioI described? <o:p></o:p>
Thank you to anyone who can provide me some information.

Thank you for the reply, I will follow and let you know. Proabably be next week sometime before I'm able to try though. So look for a reponse then. Thank you again.

    OR...
You can use the much more simple, much more reliable, and much more proven method of:
Install new server as a replica of the old.
    Replicate.
Configure new server as upstream server.
    Point clients to new server.
Turn off old server after all clients have redirected to the new server.
For everybody that has tried the backup/restore the database procedure described above, they have encounted complications of one form or another.
WSUS has a built-in and fully supported comprehensive replication capbility. use it! :-)

    Hi,
When i deploy the connector i get the pop ups saying
    "Server:servername:3080
Error:service not available" also Do you get exactly what you say above, or have you substituted in the real server name for "Server:servername:" above?
I would check through the outlook connector deployment configuration to verify that you have inserted valid information into all of the host & port fields - perhaps check the .ini file that is created to see if it has "Server" and "servername" listed.
    "Server:servername:80/uwc"
Error:service not available"You are able to log into UWC via the web-interface and access your calendar/pab and edit/modify/delete calendar & addressbook entries right? The services are all up?
asking to login to calendar server and address book
server.Clicking "OK" allows install. The outlook connector deployment software gives you the option to increase the logging level, try that and see what the logs say - what was it trying to connect to/check which failed.
In outlook i can send and receive mails but not the
meeting requests. It gives the error "login to
calendar server" when i create a meeting request.
Please let me know what i have to do to get rid of
the error. The username and passwd entered is
correct.I suspect this is more of an underlying configuration issue that needs to be sorted out, once that happens you shouldn't have to keep logging in.

    Daniel,
you (normaly) just have to :
    1) edit the $FORTE_ROOT/fortedef.sh fileand change the value of variable
    FORTE_NS_ADDRESS
    2) shutdown and restart forte environment
    3) put the new values in the control panel of the client and run !
It worked on our site with the same configuration (Aix 4.2)

Objet : 1) Changing name and IP address of an AIX 4.2 Server 2)
    Using NAT to reach forte
    Hello Forte Users :
I have 2 questions to make:
        1)
I've installed a Forte Server Central Node (Release 3.0.F.2) in an
IBM RS/6000  with OS AIX 4.2
(The name of the server is Name_1 and the IP address is
    125.125.50.50 with mask 255.255.255.0)
Nowadays we had to change the name and IP address of this server
lets say to Name_2 and 125.125.60.60 with mask 255.255.255.0.
After that we try to find any reference to old name and IP address
in the forte directory and all of its subdirectories changing them to
    the new ones.
After these changes we found than forte could'nt start the nodemgr
    server.
We have too many reasons to avoid installing FORTE again.
Does anybody know if I have to change anything more to make
    nodemgr server work.
        2)
The second question is about NAT (Network Address Translation).
To reach a Forte Server Central Node from a Forte Client we have
to pass through a Firewall and NAT.
We are researching and at this moment we can not reach the server
from the client, has anybody any suggestion to correctly configure
Forte (Client and Server) to use NAT between them.
If anyone could help me I would be very pleased.
Thank you very much in advance,

i am unable to aceess torrentz website.its coming that your IP address is abusing this server and most common reason is broken RSS reader

I have discovered it is most likely because you have Ad-Blocking software.
If your posting on a Mozilla site, then you probably (like me) use FireFox and probably also have the addon: AdBlock Plus, like I also do. I simply disabled on Torrentz.eu (also Torrentz.me would cause this problem) & when I refreshed it allowed me again.

  • Changing the multicast Address and Port giving error

I am using Coherence 3.3.1 jar files (Coherence.jar and tangosol.jar) in my local application. But when I try to change the multicast Address and Port in tangosole-coherence.xml(in Coherence.jar) then it is giving this error -
"This member could not join the cluster because of an incompatibility between the cluster protocol used by this member and the one being used by the rest of the cluster. This is most likely caused by a Coherence version mismatch, or by mismatched protocol filters (e.g. compression, or encryption)"
If i am using unique IP and Port then how can it be in a Cluster as this error stating. Please reply ASAP.

    Hi,
There is a good chance that there is already the IP and port is being used by another cluster (which uses different versions of jars or configurations) and hence, when you are starting your cluster, throwing the error.
Can you double check if another cluster is already using it or not ?
    Thanks,
    Amit

  • API method to query multicast address and port of a cluster

I am new to Tangosol and I'm looking to write a quick Java dashboard that will display current information on our cluster, such as the clustername and the multicast address and port that is being used. Looking at the API I've found the Cluster object and I'm able to get the memeberset and the clustername. But I have not been able to find a way to query the multicast address and port being used by the cluster.
Any help or links would be appreciated.
         Thanks,

    Hi Len,
All this information could be retrieved via JMX. Please see this Wiki page. Detailed documentation about the semantics of all exposed attributes and method could be found in the Javadoc for the <a href ="http://tinyurl.com/r75sy">Registry interface</a>.

  • Problem with an unavailable server and the "Offline address book" rol

I have a site with two Exchange 2007 servers and tried to install a new Exchange 2013 but the process did not end well.
Now the 2013 server has the role of "Offline address book" and is no longer available which creates multiple problems. How I can do to remove the references to the 2013 server and move the role referred to one of the existing Exchange 2007 servers?

My recommendation would be to fix whatever went wrong and complete the setup.
The server is probably the generation server for a new offline address list.  Check that by entering the following command.
    Get-OfflineAddressBook
If there's a new list created by Exchange 2013 setup, you can simply remove it using Remove-OfflineAddressBook, and that should take care of what you're seeing.

  • Reconfig Server Name and IP Address

I've installed Solaris 2.4 on a Sun Ultra. I'm required to re-set this up, but I am trying to avoide full installation from scratch. Is it possible to re-set up the parameters that was entered when I first installed it??
I need to actually change the Server Name and IP address of the machine, and not the network card, as well as root password and other configs entered during installation.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I am not sure whether this command is there in 2.4. If it is there, you may try running /usr/sbin/sys-unconfig. This does all what you are looking for. It will reboot the system, ask all the questions e.g hostname, ip address, root password, domainname etc. And will again reboot.
Please read man page of sys-unconfig before executing.

  • Link Local Unicast Addresses and Link Local Multicast Addresses

I am trying to get a hold on Link Local Multicast addressing.  I know that Link Local Unicast Addressing is the equivalent of an APIPA address but can anyone tell me what Local Link Multicast addressing is used for and hopefully provide an example of
it's use?  Beg your pardon if this is a stupid question.  Thanks.
    Michael T. Glenn

    Hi Michael,
Obviously, this is not a stupid question.
The link local multicast addresses are the equivalent of 224.0.0.0/24, which are reserved for the local subnet and are not forwarded by IP routers regardless of the Time to Live (TTL) in the IP header.
They are used for routing protocol or other well-known multicast based communication.
For detailed information, please refer to the link below,

  • Changing Domain Name and IP address of a server

We have an Oracle 10G server (running on Windows) that needs to have its domain name and IP address changed. I did a search on this forum and found similar threads to this one (e.g. Rename server name & change domain Just wondering if anyone has any other comments to make that haven't been mentioned previously.
Looks like on the server side, we just have to change the listener and tnsnames.ora file. Anything else we have to worry about? (Unfortunately this is something I've never done before.)

    TomF:
Yeah I know the listner SHOULD be the only thing that needs to know the server's network information. However, databases are big, complex pieces of software, and I'm just a bit paranoid that there's some system variable that needs to also get changed that I might be overlooking.
You suggested I might need to change the global_name... Upon further research, I've found references to other variables that may need to change... local_listener, remote_listner, and dispatcher. (Note: I don't have the Oracle documentation handy so I can't verify how valid those are.)

  • DHCP server and ip helper-address issue

    Question,
By accident I had configured an IP HELPER-ADDRESS on a VLAN interface pointing to a DHCP server with an IP addrees in the same VLAN ( ip subnet ).
Some users had complaints and there were BAD ADDRESS entries in our DHCP server registered.
Can anyone explain to me why this is an issue please ?
My guess is that the the DHCP server receives the DHCPREQUEST from the client via the braodcast request and via the unicast request from the ip helper-address configuration. But does this really interfere with the DHCPACK and DHCPOFFER packets afterwards ?

    Alex,
I've not been able to capture the network packets but I can understand if the server would send DHCPNACK requests ( wxhich would be a normal process ).
I just don't understand why so many users suddenly have issues and my DHCP scope is filling up with BAD ADDRESSES.
My assumption is that the client receives 2 valid DHCP responses ( one form the actual DHCP server and another one from the router, acting as DHCP relay agent ) and acknowledges them, but the DHCP process is somewhere corrupted ( either on the DHCP server or the DHCP client ).
I want a technical explanation for this issue :-)
