Redundant Wiki Server- Can It Be Done?

Hello All -
I am wondering if I have an existing wiki server if I can have it replicate to another mac server for load balancing and redundancy.  Has anyone performed this, and if so do you have documentation?  Both servers would be a member of the golden triangle so the permissions from users would need to follow to both servers.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Mac os x wiki server can't authenticate user password from active directory recently after we upgraded to windows 2008 server.

after upgraded to windows 2008 server, our  mac os x wiki server can't authenticate user password anymore. How can I re-bind the wiki server to the AD again? thanks in advance.

Solved it by deleting the user and creating a new one with the same userID.
Maybe it occured because I marked the "user has to change password after first login" box when resetting the password but didn't yet allow him to do so in the webpages menu?!?

  • Mod_proxy breaks wiki server

I have been using wiki server to manage collborative content amongst a small number of physically disparate users.
I recently enabled forward proxy on the httpd server, which is also a NAT gateway and firewall.
When I 'control access' to the forward proxy (only allowing local IP's), wiki server can't serve content to external IP's any more.
[Sat Jun 06 08:01:46 2009] [error] [client 124.170.77.5] client denied by server configuration: proxy:http://127.0.0.1:8087/groups/lineup/
If I use a VPN I can access wiki content (because my source IP is local rather than external), but unfortunately VPN is boring as the auto-connect feature in leopard is broken. I also want to be able to serve wiki content to people without giving them VPN access.
local IP address range is 192.168.1.0/24
forward proxy access control is 192.168.1
I have asked mod_proxy not to cache localhost....to no avail.
    thanks in advance!

    Ok. Fixed the mod_proxy / wikiserver thing. Just had to let the proxy know that requests from the internal webserver were ok;
I mean that seems obvious, but if the internal webserver has an external IP, it doesn't automatically do it....so you have to put a No Proxy command in httpd.conf covering all your external IP's, localhost, 127.0.0.1 etc until finally the webserver doesn't proxy itself and deny itself access to itself.
of course you can't edit No Proxy settings from within Server Admin.
so that's done and wiki now works for the planet rather than just local IP's.

  • Can't Host a Wiki Server's calendar using Server 10.8

I have setup server and attempted to have one of my calendars on iCal sync with the Wiki calendar
I have a user called bernard
I have a calendar in ical called bernardtraining
In the Wiki the user bernard has a calendar but I cant get ical to sync with the Wiki.
    In iCal Accounts
I set up an account in ical lets call it server.myserver.private (hiding actual name)
    user name = bernard
password is set to user password
    Refresh 5 minutes
    In Server Settings iCal Accounts
    Server address server.myserver.private
server path aut populates to /principals/__uids__/7A7D303D-8265-47D5-BAD1-01E3DDD4CC37/  (maybe this is the problem)
    Port = auto
    SSL = No (for now)
    No delgates
I then went through this process.....
When you set up iCal Server to provide the calendar service for a wiki, Wiki Server provides access to the calendars, so users who do not have wiki privileges do not have calendar service.
Use serveradmin via the Terminal app to change the setting.sudo serveradmin set calendar:Authentication:Wiki:Enabled = "<setting>" The default value for <setting> is “no”.
The other possible value is “yes.”
    Command example:
sudo serveradmin set calendar:Authentication:Wiki:Enabled = "yes"
Use serveradmin via the Terminal app to designate the Wiki server.sudo serveradmin set calendar:Authentication:Wiki:Hostname = "<DNSWikiServer>" The default value for <DNSWikiServer> is the Wiki server’s fully qualified domain name.
    Command example:
    sudo serveradmin set calendar:Authentication:Wiki:Hostname = "wikiweb.example.com"
Use serveradmin via the Terminal app to encrypt the connection.sudo serveradmin set set calendar:Authentication:Wiki:UseSSL = "(yes|no)" The default value is “no”.
    Command example:
sudo serveradmin set set calendar:Authentication:Wiki:UseSSL = "yes"
    Still no success.
    Can anyone help?

I did, and had it working last night. It won't now, though.
I don't understand port triggering, and when I attempted to look up the help files on the linksys site, they told me to register first - then they wouldn't let me fill in the email address section of the registration, so..
I don't use a firewall, and this computer I'm trying to host the server on is directly connected to the router. The wireless connection is with a laptop upstairs. I just checked, and my IP changed, but fixing that in Port Forwarding still does nothing. I can host the server... It just doesn't show up on gamespy.
Just about everywhere I read up on this, it mentions having to have a static IP address. I went through the guides that tell how to go about getting one set up, but still doesn't work. I don't have anything even remotely mentioning linksys in Network Connections though - that's on the laptop. Could this be the problem?
Another problem I ran into when setting up the router, was I'd get an error unpacking languages, or something. Got it every time, but it let me move on after closing the error so didn't think much of it.

  • Tags don't autocomplete in Wiki Server

Since the upgrade from 10.7 Server, previously-used tags don't autocomplete when added to a wiki page. There's nothing informative in the logs. Otherwise the server seems to be working. Before filing a bug report, I'd like to know whether anyone can confirm.

There is completion, but it only seems to work when you click the "Allow user to administer this server" checkbox in the Users section of the Server app. Must be a permissions issue.

  • Can I use Wiki Server with a custom build of Apache?

Hi there. For various reasons, I may need to roll my own build of Apache, PHP, and some other web technologies. What I'm hoping to do is use Wiki Server for the collaborative part of our site, but I don't know if it can be set up to run with an Apache build other than the one that comes with Leopard.
Can this be done? If so, how?

That could work, I suppose. I take it it's not possible to configure the Wiki Server to work with a different build of Apache?
I'd just as soon not run two Apache instances on our new system; that's what we're doing now, on our Tiger server, and it's a bit inconvenient to have two sets of web configuration settings to worry about.
If possible, I'd like to use the Wiki server with a custom Apache build. (I need to rebuild PHP, you see...)

  • I want to Connect my Mac Mini as a Slave to a Mac pro Server while at the same time using the Mac mini's thunderbolt ports peripherals ( ie monitor, Sound Card, Hard drives) Creating a poor man's new mac Pro. Can this be Done?

I want to Connect my Mac Mini as a Slave to a Mac pro Server while at the same time using the Mac mini's thunderbolt ports peripherals ( ie monitor, Sound Card, Hard drives) Creating a poor man's new mac Pro. Can this be Done?

Well, I really would love the new unreleased mac pro however , I'm not sure of the expected cost , Everyone speculates from $3,000 to $8,000, in which I may have to wait a while to purchase.
To the point .... I want fully functional thunderbolt ports to be on the current mac pro's .... wonder if anyone had workarounds yet?...  or could I chain the the current mac pro to a mac mini to make that happen?

  • Can't delete a blog comment from Lion Wiki Server 3

Started the Wiki Server on my Lion Server today and as a test I added a test comment to a blog.  After I saved it I wanted to see if I could edit, change the content or just delete the comment outright.  The answer to all three is that I can't.  I am logged in as the owner the wiki and the administrator for the server.  I looked at the documentation and it appears that I should be able to do all three, but no luck.  Any help would be apprciated.

You'll get a lot more help if you go to the Lion Server forum. The folks here mainly know about the client OS.

  • Making an iTunes server for office LAN, Can it be done?

I have a 70 computer LAN in my office that is then connected to my company's wan. We are using all pcs. I have a deployment server that doesn't have much on it with an external HD. We're using 2000 windows server on that machine. I have been requested from many ipod users in my office to have a shared Library. Is it possible to put an ipod server or itunes server on my LAN making an individual profile for everyone such that they can connect on their desktop with itunes and share the library? This would not be for music purchased from the Apple store, but cd's owned and brought in. I don't know if this is forbidden subject and wouldn't be above purchasing a license to do it, but I have not yet found any documentation for how I might put a server together and put one on the network. I'd be willing to purchase a mac with the latest OSX that is compatible w windows for this too. Any links or advice or even a flat, can't be done?

Legally I don't think so. Unless you have the CD you are not supposed to have the files made from it. The RIAA says no way at all whether you own the CD or not. They want you to buy the songs again.
As for the server, there is nothing preventing you from allowing the users to save files to a server. This would be like many home useres do by using using external/networked drives. Give each user a folder then let them store their music there.

  • 1 repository serving 2 OBIEE servers - can this be done?

    Hi Gurus.
I have a question that I though might be better answered in this forum.
Is it possible for us to configure 1 repository and have 2 OBIEE / Web Logic servers running from it?
We are thinking of having one OBIEE server for external and the other for internal layers.
Can this be done? With each running off / out of the same repository?
    I did find this http://www.rittmanmead.com/2010/07/obiee-11gr1-scaleout-clustering-and-high-availability/
    Any comments?

  • I don't need iTunes to bounce and tell me its iMatch server can't work

This makes me so angry, this is like Windows quality software engineering.  Don't tell me that your servers aren't working and can't scan my whole iTunes Library for iMatch.  It's annoying, almost as annoying as those stupid Adobe Reader update popups.  If I'm searching for a particular track and your iMatch server can't connect and find it then THAT IS THE TIME to tell me that your stuff isn't working correctly.  And why is it that it isn't working correctly? Because this sort of &%$($#&^ happens every day, many times a day.  I have ATT Uverse high speed DSL and we all know that ATT is pretty low par as service providers go, but iTunes has that information and should compensate.  Don't tell me that you don't set cookies as far as IP address and service providers go. FIX THIS!

Unknown Error containing "0xE" when restoring
To resolve this issue, follow the steps in iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Unknown error containing '0xE' when connecting. If you have a Windows computer with an Intel® 5 series/3400 series chipset, you may need updates for your chipset drivers. See iTunes for Windows: Issues syncing iOS devices with P55 and related Intel Chipsets for more information.

  • Can't log in to wiki server

Everything was working fine with my wiki web site a couple of days ago.  This morning when I tried to log in, I couldn't.
I can get to the main wiki page: https://tewiki.trilleng.com but when I click on "My Pages" or "Wikis" or "Blogs" and try to log in, it just shakes it's little square head "no."
I tried to log in at 02:35:32. Here are some log entries at that time:

This isn't much information to go on. Where else can I look to get this sorted?
    Thanks!
    Luis

    Found and fixed the problem.
In the file /Library/Logs/wikid/error.log was this:
    exceptions.IOError: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/Library/Application Support/Apple/WikiServer/entityList.plist'
I checked the WikiServer directory and the files there were owned by user:group root:admin.  They're supposed to be owned by _teamsserver:_teamsserver so I did a chown on that whole directory:
    sudo chown -R _teamsserver:_teamsserver WikiServer
After that I was able to authenticate with my wiki server.
I wonder if I can give myself 10 points for providing the correct answer.  :-)
