Plz guide.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Kobby ,
The error : ABAP_RUN: R/3 call BAPI_XBP_JOB_ADD_ABAP_STEP failed
it comes when in the redwood u schedule a job with WRONG variant .
While scheduling the job in cronacle we must be careful that we enter it in correct letters as it in SAP side .
We faced this error so many times and I observed that there could be two reasons .
1. The incorrect letters ( Capital or small ) when compared to SAP .
2. There could be possibly no varaint present in the SAP .Check whether the variant is there or not .
The error clearly says that the problem is from SAP side .Not from the redwood or ur scheduling .
Hope this helps .
Thanks,
RD.

    Hello,
    I have no issues with J2EE server and I have enough disk space.My Java server is fine (Dispatcher, Server, SDM). I have disk space over 150 GB. I was able to install the redwood software through SDM deploy tool but not JSPM (GO.BAT) tool. What can be the problem? Why does my SDM tool work but not my JSPM tool to deploy applications? Please advise?

  • Redwood - Schedule a job dependant on another jobs completion?

    Hoping someone can help as documentation on Redwood seems to be very limited.
    We are currently running Redwood for the "Standard Jobs" without an issue, however we now have a requirement to start testing our batch schedule through Redwood and can't seem to figure out how to create jobs with dependencies on other job completions?
    Can anyone point us in the right direction?
    The other issue we have, is that we are unable to find an option to release a job based on an event trigger?
    Thanks a lot

    Hi Matthew,
    Jobs can be made dependant in two ways.
    1.     Using Job chains where you will be able to have multiple scripts (each script executes a step in multi step job) dependant on one other. (Documentation for the same is available in Redwood help with key word – ‘What is a job-chain’). In this case you will have one job chain with multiple scripts getting executed in a parallel or sequential way. Also it is possible to embed job chains in other job chain. You can take different actions based on output / processing state (completed, cancelled etc.) of previous script in Job chain.
    2.     Raising events by predecessor script which in turn triggers next script.
    First solution is more appropriate and used one.
    If you are talking about events in Redwood they can be raised and sensed by scripts and can be defined in script properties under node –wait Events & Raise events.
    Hope this helps.

  • Asynchronous web service call from Redwood

    Hi Everyone,
    Build version M33.104.
    We have a scenario where we have to call an asynchronous web service.
    From the documentation i understand that the Redwood job will be in status Running until the web service completes.
    How does the call back work from the web service to Redwood? How does Redwood know the asynchronous web service job completed?
    From the documentation, the per-requisite is:
    callback to UpdateJob1 web service at ServerAddress with JobId and FinalStatus as Out parameters
    Should i create two out parameters for the web service job definition in Redwood? one JobId and another FinalStatus?
    How do i get the URL to UpdateJob1 web-service, so that i can make my web service, call it, to update the Redwood job that called it?
    thanks
    Nanda

    Hi HP,
    I included the following snippet in job source:
    //Set completion strategy to external
    jcsJobContext.setCompletionStrategy(CompletionStrategyType.External);
    I get the following error when compiled:
    JCS-102183: Compile failed for Job Definition SOAP_GlobalWeatherSoap_GetCitiesByCountry (Latest Version): SOAP_GlobalWeatherSoap_GetCitiesByCountry.java:user code 24:40:cannot find symbol symbol : variable CompletionStrategyType location: class com.redwood.scheduler.custom.SOAP_GlobalWeatherSoap_GetCitiesByCountry jcsJobContext.setCompletionStrategy(CompletionStrategyType.External);
    I am not able to find any information from the API documentation on the method setCompletionStrategy, so I'm not able to figure what type of variable am i passing, so that i can initialize it. Please shed some light on it.
    Also there is no path called Scripting > Built-In Web Services
    I have only Scripting>Published Web Services
    Thanks

  • Question about Best Practices - Redwood Landscape/Object Naming Conventions

    Having reviewed documentation and posts, I find that there is not that much information available in regards to best practices for the Redwood Scheduler in a SAP environment. We are running the free version.
    1) The job scheduling for SAP reference book (SAP Press) recommends multiple Redwood installations and using export/import to move jobs and other redwood objects from say DEV->QAS->PROD. Presentations from the help.sap.com Web Site show the Redwood Scheduler linked to Solution Manager and handling job submissions for DEV-QAS-PROD. Point and Shoot (just be careful where you aim!) functionality is described as an advantage for the product. There is a SAP note (#895253) on making Redwood highly available. I am open to comments inputs and suggestions on this issue based on SAP client experiences.
    2) Related to 1), I have not seen much documentation on Redwood object naming conventions. I am interested in hearing how SAP clients have dealt with Redwood object naming (i.e. applications, job streams, scripts, events, locks). To date, I have seen in a presentation where customer objects are named starting with Z_. I like to include the object type in the name (e.g. EVT - Event, CHN - Job Chain, SCR - Script, LCK - Lock) keeping in mind the character length limitation of 30 characters. I also have an associated issue with Event naming given that we have 4 environments (DEV, QA, Staging, PROD). Assuming that we are not about to have one installation per environment, then we need to include the environment in the event name. The downside here is that we lose transportability for the job stream. We need to modify the job chain to wait for a different event name when running in a different environment. Comments?

    Hi Paul,
    As suggested in book u2018job scheduling for SAP from SAPu2019 press it is better to have multiple instances of Cronacle version (at least 2 u2013 one for development & quality and other separate one for production. This will have no confusion).
    Regarding transporting / replicating of the object definitions - it is really easy to import and export the objects like Events, Job Chain, Script, Locks etc. Also it is very easy and less time consuming to create a fresh in each system. Only complicated job chains creation can be time consuming.
    In normal cases the testing for background jobs mostly happens only in SAP quality instance and then the final scheduling in production. So it is very much possible to just export the verified script / job chain form Cronacle quality instance and import the same in Cronacle production instance (use of Cronacle shell is really recommended for fast processing)
    Regarding OSS note 895253 u2013 yes it is highly recommended to keep your central repository, processing server and licencing information on highly available clustered environment. This is very much required as Redwood Cronacle acts as central job scheduler in your SAP landscape (with OEM version).
    As you have confirmed, you are using OEM and hence you have only one process server.
    Regarding the conventions for names, it is recommended to create a centrally accessible naming convention document and then follow it. For example in my company we are using the naming convention for the jobs as Z_AAU_MM_ZCHGSTA2_AU01_LSV where A is for APAC region, AU is for Australia (country), MM is for Materials management and then ZCHGSTA2_AU01_LSV is the free text as provided by batch job requester.
    For other Redwood Cronacle specific objects also you can derive naming conventions based on SAP instances like if you want all the related scripts / job chains to be stored in one application, its name can be APPL_<logical name of the instance>.
    So in a nutshell, it is highly recommend
    Also the integration of SAP solution manager with redwood is to receive monitoring and alerting data and to pass the Redwood Cronacle information to SAP SOL MAN to create single point of control. You can find information on the purpose of XAL and XMW interfaces in Cronacle help (F1).
    Hope this answers your queries. Please write if you need some more information / help in this regard.
    Best regards,
    Vithal

  • Redwood script - NPE for duplicate(), but the job exists.

    Hi Everyone,
    M33.104 - build version.
    I'm tried the following code
    JobDefinition newABAPJob = jcsSession.getJobDefinitionByName("DUP_TEST");
    if (newABAPJob == null) {
    newABAPJob = jcsSession.getJobDefinitionByName("SAP_AbapRun").duplicate();
    newABAPJob.setName("DUP_TEST");
    jcsSession.persist();
    else {
    jcsOut.println("JobDefinition already exists");
    When i replaced SAP_AbapRun with a job definition i already have (as below), i received a Null Pointer Exception.
    newABAPJob = jcsSession.getJobDefinitionByName("ECC_FIN_AP_TEMPLATE").duplicate();
    Error:

    The Job definition exists - screenshot below. The job is not a template. I tried with different job definitions that i created, it always failed.
    But when i used SAP_AbapRun or SAP_AbapRunPrint, it is successful.
    Please let me know what am i doing wrong?
    Thanks
    Nanda

    Hi Nanda,
    You are looking up the job definition in the wrong partition. As you do not provide the partition to lookup in, GLOBAL is assumed. You can try the following two alternatives:
    newABAPJob = jcsSession.getJobDefinitionByName(jcsSession.getPartitionByName("FIN"), "ECC_FIN_AP_TEMPLATE").duplicate();
    newABAPJob = BusinessKeyLookup.getJobDefinitionByBusinessKey(jcsSession, JobDefinition.OBJECT_TYPE + ":FIN.ECC_FIN_AP_TEMPLATE").duplicate();

  • Redwood Vs EP

    Hi folks,
    Could you please explain what is the role of Redwood Scheduler with respect to SAP Enterprise Portal? I know that Redwood is used to schedule the ABAP jobs.
    so how exactly it will be useful for SAP EP?
    Pls gimme good expalination and dont give Venky's blog, which I already knew.
    Excellent points will be awarded
    Thanks,
    David.

    Hi David,
    SAP Central Process Scheduling (the former Redwood tool) offers an iView to provide read-only support to business users. thuis way they can follow their processes without haveing to "hassle" the operations people.
    In the new version (currently in Pilot phase), the complete UI will be browser based and can be used from EP (including SSO)

  • MDM scheduler

    Hi,
    Does MDM have a default scheduler?
    can we schedule jobs? How?
    is it possible to use REDWOOD scheduler?
    Sonali

    Hi Sonali,
    Does MDM have a default scheduler?
    can we schedule jobs? How?
    - The answer to this question depends on what type of MDM jobs you wish to scheduled.MDM has a Command line inteface where in you can connect to an MDM system through the command prompt.It also thus enables remote connection to the MDM sytem.MDM CLIX is also OS independent.
    - But the point here is MDM clix is basically used to connect to an MDM system which is based on an OS other than windows such as linux or solaris and thus cannot use the MDM console to perform the MDM console activities like the starting the mdm server and connecting to the rep etc.
    - MDM clix commands can be used and then scheduled to run automatically based on the set interval but this will help you schedule and perform your console activities only.
    - You also have the MDIS and MDSS feature to enable scheduling of automatic importing and syndicating of master data.
    Besides these mechanisms MDM does not have any default Scheduler.
    You can have a look at the below links to understand how to use the MDM clix commands and for which all operations:
    MDM CLIX  application, Command line samples, Arguments definition

  • Straw poll of how many are using Redwood Explorer Vs Netweaver + browser

    All,
    I hadn't heard of Redwood Explorer until I started having questions regarding our Netweaver + browser use of Redwood scheduling.  As it appears we cannot use this windows GUI interface to manage our Redwood jobs I'd like to know how many people are using the configuration that allows the use of Redwood Explorer Vs those using Netweaver + browser with the deployed scheduler application.
    If anyone has any real world experience pros and cons of the two methods I'd appreciate it.
    Regards
    Guy

    Guy,
    there are a number of options currently; v8 which is in ramp-up and is delivered as a web based application deployed either on Netweaver or standalone, then there is v7 which is a standalone installation (this is only available in 'full functionality' guise), uses an Oracle 10g database  and also the Redwood Explorer Windows client. Finally there is v6 with the same architecture as v7 but with 'Basic' functionality.
    In terms of pro's, con's and your straw poll it of course depends on your perspective, and there are many considerations in determining what version was/is most appropriate for a given company choosing to use CPS.  However, irrespective of the version used, you're going to have opportunity to achieve a great many more things using CPS than were possible using traditional SAP tools.

  • Problem Automating FPOP

    Hi,
    Iu2019m new to SAP (and BW), so please bear with me.  We went live with CRB and BW about four months ago.  At that time we could not automate our Sales Statistics and Business Partner data extractors because of various issues.  Weu2019ve since resolved those issues and are now attempting to automate these extractors.
    Our Basis team is working on getting these two processes automated in Redwood (we had to purchase this scheduling software to resolve some of our CRB issues).  The data extractor for Sales Statistics (BW-DQ-SS) works fine, but the extractor for Business Partner (FPOP), for the FICA BP Items Transaction process chain produces an error in Redwood (I have included the error message at the end of this post).
    Basis believes the problem is due to the Parallel Processing Object (u2018KEYPPu2019 u2013 3-Character Number) set on the Technical Settings tab, which was selected by the consultants that set up the process.  If we select help on the Object field under Parallel Processing Object, it actually mentions u2018GPARTu2019 for business partner in the help text.  However, this field is read-only.  The process runs fine with this object when we run it manually; it just fails when we try to automate it with Redwood.
    Can anyone tell me what they are using for this parameter, and how we can change it (new variant, etc)?  Or does anyone have any other suggestions on how we can get this process automated?
    Thank you very much for your help!

    The parallel processing variant KEYPP is the object which is used internally by the system to break up all of the relevant data into more manageable chunks.  KEYPP is not related to BP - it is essentially a counter field.  See the SE11 documentation for data element KEYPP_KK.  The system uses these values to break up the documents by comparing their last 3 digits to that in the intervals.
    As to your issue, it is possible that you are not properly using the interval variant within the scheduled process.  Maybe you are using a variant that does not exist?  If you are trying to run something in parallel without providing a valid parallel variant, then i think that might be an issue.

    bill.

    This message is most of the times thrown when the parameters you specify for the job to run are inconsistent. Possibly a variant name that does not exist or is missing, maybe a printer/sap user name/application server name that does not exist in the target system.

  • Error message in CPS Manual intervention window

    Hi All,
    In Redwood CPS, we get the following error message under the Manual intervention filter in Job monitor.
    JCS-122035: Unable to persist: JCS-XXXXX: @locale2@:(com.redwood.scheduler.exception.Class.persistence.api.PersistenceException$AmbiguousField 'Behavior' 'JCS_JOB0' 'JCS_JOBDEF0' ' aliases=true {Job=Job, a_1=JobDefinition}')
    But as such all the jobs seems to be running fine without any issues.
    Could you throw some light on the error message and its likely consequence if any in the future?
    Thanks,
    Balaji
