I would like to know What is meant by reference class in classification system for a material? If we are using a variant configuration scenario expalin in context to the classification systme used in this.

I am not sure of anything called as Reference class but definately we have Reference charecteristics inthe SCE application. Below is the brief description of the Reference charecteristics- see the link below

Corresponding to R/3 Master data is maintained in the R/3 database.

To change the classification data for a material using BDC

I have to update clssification data for material in MM02 using BDC so when i record the transaction MM02 using SHDB i am not able to see the value assignment window which i a able to see when i am changing using MM02 transaction directly. So can anyone have an idea regarding this ?
I have even tried updating classification data using a BAPI BAPI_OBJCL_CHANGE but i am not getting desired results....can anyone suggest me what are the parameters need to be passed to the BAPI. Thanks in advance for your help....

<b>BAPI_OBJCL_CHANGE</b> : This BAPI changes an existing classification, or creates the classification if it does not yet exist. The classification is defined by the required entry fields for the object key (ObjectKey), object table (ObjectTable), class name (AllocDetail-Class_Num), and class type (AllocDetail-Class_Type). The default value for the optional date field (KeyDate) is the system date, on which all classifications become valid. The new characteristics and/or values are transferred to different tables according to data type. Numeric, time, and date characteristics are transferred to table AllocValuesNumNew, character and boolean characteristics are transferred to table AllocValuesCharNew, and currency characteristics are transferred to AllocValuesCurrNew.
The object key (OBJECTKEY) must be transferred in internal format. This means before conversion exits. For example, a material number must be transferred with leading zeros.
If the BAPI runs without errors, table Return contains no messages of type "E".
Assignment created: message CL735
Assignment changed: message CL737
Assignment not changed: message CL738
This BAPI only changes the parameters of an existing assignment (or creates a whole new assignment), but it does not delete the assignment to a class and replace it with an assignment to another class. If you want to reassign an object, the old assignments must be read with BAPI_OBJCL_GETCLASSES and deleted with BAPI_OBJCL_DELETE, then the new assignments must be created with BAPI_OBJCL_CREATE.
The information transferred by this BAPI replaces all old information. An empty field means "delete entry!", not "no change".
This BAPI does not change the database. To change the database, call BAPI BapiService.TransactionCommit afterwards.
You can only use this BAPI for objects that are not classes!
This BAPI only processes assigned values for classification - not for configuration.

Year class: A classification system for Android - any thoughts?

Facebook posted a few days ago how they no longer look at Android versions but instead look to hardware capabilities when developing their app(s):

A significant, and increasing, problem we have experienced over the past two years of deploying to Android isn't the fragmentation of the OS versions, rather the fragmentation of hardware.
Cheap Android devices are often shipping with v6 ARM CPUs but Air only supports V7.
These cheap Android devices can run the latest Android versions though which is hugely difficult to explain to clients. Clients think that since the latest devices can all run the latest Android version, why can't Air also support those same devices? A logical question to have but, understanding the lower power hardware doesn't always make sense to these clients.
Sure, it's a great marketing move by the hardware manufacturers who use the 'latest Android version' as a headline for shipping cheap old hardware! But, it makes it a nightmare for us Air developers.
I'm an electronics engineering graduate so I acutely understand both the hardware and software complications/implications of this situation but I'm wondering what we're going to do about.
A version of Adobe Air that would run on legacy ARM v6 would be great because a lot of cheap hardware still uses that form factor. Raspberry Pi for instance uses that CPU form and therefore being able to target that device with Adobe Air in the education market would be a HUGE opportunity! Also, the 'internet of things' could be a huge market for Air developers who could adopt such hardware as the Raspberry Pi. I do though, as I hint above, appreciate the development and resource costs for supporting that older CPU core though.
So, I wanted to throw this out there to see what other people think - both developers and Adobe themselves...
Is there a solution out there? Or can we, as a community, create a solution?

You'd have to create your own ANE extension to detect hardware specs.

Classification System for Storage location

Hello,
I would like to know if you can apply the classification system (as we know it well from the material master), to classify the storage location configuration. I need this for a client who wants to analyze his information system with the possibility to drilldown the characterics of his storage locations. But to do this, he first would have to apply the classification system to these storage locations, but I can not figure out if it is possible, and where to customize it.

perhaps it is even some kind of weird, but for 2 reasons I dared to make the question:
- Classification system is a cross-application component (Material Management, Project System, etc.), so why not for something like storage location.
- For Plants you DO HAVE this classification. Go to CL02 and have a look on matchcode of 'Class type' field. So, my idea was to check if there was something similar for storage location.
If you do have any other idea, or anyone else, I appreciate a lot your help.

Lookout limitations and selection of the computer system for lookout

This is regarding the limitation of the lookout i.e. upto how much IO lookout is reccomended to use.
or it is on the basis of the l4p or lks file size basis.
Do you have some criteria for the selection of the computer system for lookout on the basis of the IO's.
is there any criteria by which we can check the execution cycle time for the lookout process.
Is there any NI controller also avaiable for lookout applications?

From what I have observed, there is no standard. The best thing to do is to create test setups.
Its entirely possible that a system with 100 IO may require more processing/memory than a 5000 IO system. Database, archiving, reporting, analytics, etc.
It is variable.
Just for reference on our systems, we dont use the IO count for performance curves, we go based on the site configurations for the system.
A site could be 1 pump, 6 pumps and a tank, 1 pump and a tank, 4 tanks, etc. Consider than a tank may only take 5 IO and a well upwards of 50 IO each, we could hit 150-200 IO per site.
Smaller systems (<10 sites) we have run very successfully on Atom based servers (not netbooks...).
10-40 sites run well on basic dual-core workstations with 2GB or more of RAM
40-100 we recommend quad-core servers with 4GB or more of RAM.
(100+ gets a little more intricate)
We try to make sure that the system is not more than 15% loaded (memory and/or CPU) by services at normal work. Lots of room left over for future growth or unexpected workloads and backup routines.

How does one add a personal recorded M4R file to the ring tones in the UK system for iPhone 3GS.
I have tried all sorts of ways of adding my personal M4R file but can't find the place (within the UK versions of iTunes} to transfer this file so that I can select it as a ring tone.
I've tried also changing to the US version of iTunes and still can't find a way of doing it, although I have heard that it can be done.

You should be able to just drop it into the library within iTunes.

which version of Premiere Pro are you trying to install? Also check your system compatibility for Premiere Pro CC as suggested by John. Hi,
You can change valuation class, or you can set valuation category for your material master. If valuation category is set you can extend your material master and in this way creating records for different valuation types.
Please try to set the desired changes in your mmr (MM02) > save > SAP will give you error message > push 'Display error' button and you will see what conditions must be eliminated to carry out the change.
- you are not allowed to have open transactional data
- no stock in the current and previous period (using proper posting date in MB1A + 201 you can reduce your stock level to 0, and after that you can set it back by MB1A + 202)
- in case of valuation category setting batch archiving may be necessary

Creating a new class type in the classification system

We are wanting to classify objects in a ZTABLE. We have a home grown system for defining our customer requirements that is used as the way for the sales people to communicate to the engineering dept. what the customer wants. A new need has come up that seems to be a good fit to be able to classify our customer requirements. I have been trying to create a new class type that is linked to our ZTABLE. However, even though it looks like we should be able to do this I have not been able to do it. I ran across some documentation that seems to imply that adding a new class type used to be possible, but no longer is.
Can anyone verify that creating a new class type is still possible to do? We are on ECC 5.0.

Can someone point me in the right direction as to how to create my own Class Type. Is there some documentation as to how to dow this? Other than what is fould in SPRO I have tried and tried but no joy for me.
This is what I have done so far:
in SPRO:
1) Created an Object Key for my table ZLO_CUSTREQ. This table has a primary key of CRQNR (custormer requirements number which is I created) The documentation says that I need to add this key field to structure RMCLY (I did that). BUT, it also says the RMCLY is embeded in structure RMCLX and it is not. Do I need to modify RMCLX to add RMCLY as an append structure?
2) Went to Maintain Object types and Class types and selected my table. Double clicked on Class Types in the Dialog Structure tree, which displayed an empty list of class types.
I then Clicked New Entries button and filled in the fields: Class type(Z10), Description(Customer Requirements), Table(ZLO_CUSTREQ). in the Screens group I selected Keywords and Characteristics. In the Functions group I selected: Standard class type and Multiple classifications. I then Clicked the back arrow. This returned me to the Class Types list which now displayed my new class type.
When I click the save button it kicks me out the the SPRO menu screen and I get the warning message "Class type Z10 does not have the classification status incomplete system" .
Then, it won't let me re-enter the Maintain Object types and Class Types screen due to an error "View cluster is already open, go back with F3"
When I hit F3 I am returned to the main SPRO screen. After navigating back to the Maintain Object types and Class types I continue to get the View cluster already open error. The only way I can get back to Maintain Object types and Class types is to completely exit SPRO and start over. When I do, class type Z10 is gone.
I have repeated this procedure several times with always the same results.
Can anyone please help me?

How to change the source system for just a datasource

Our test/development BI system ( BI 7.0 Unicode ) is connected to our development system and to our test system, 1 BI system connected to 2 R/3 systems.
During some time, the test system won't be available so all datasources that point to the test system must be connected to the development system. In RSA1 is not possible to change the source system in a datasource: RSDS 057
'Creation of DataSources for SAP source system D30CLNT007 is not permitted' , same error trying to copy the datasource,.
Any idea about how to proceed ?

Hi,
If I try to repliclate metadata in the datasource, message RSAR 051 appears: 'error when opening an RFC connection'. This error is expected because the logical system pointed in the datasource does not exist.
Is not possible to change the source system in datasource ( in RSA1 ) because the field is always greyed, also if I try to copy the datasource the message RSDS 057 appears.
Any idea about how to proceed ?

HT1553 What is the best system for a real time cloud back up of documents? My MacBook crashed, and I lost 2 hours of writing and could not find a way to restore it.

My MacBook Pro crashed while I was rewriting a book, lost more than an hour of work and could not find a way to restore it. Did not have Time Machine set up, but it appears that Time Machine does not have Real Time back up and documents must be manually stored.
I need an automatic, real time back up to keep this from happening - I'm not happy my MacBook has crashed twice now. What is the best cloud system for Real Time backup? Thanks to anyone who can help me, I'm not the most astutde computer guy... James

One way would be to use Dropbox, or a similar sync service, and just keep your critical documents in the appropriate folder. Dropbox, at least, keeps a local copy of everything and syncs automatically to the cloud whenver a change is made. Dropbox is free for up to 2GB of data.
There are also true backup services such as CrashPlan+:

which provide automatic backups whenver a change is detected. It's not free, but usually such services aren't too expensive unless you need to back up a lot of data.

Can Apple please improve the approval system for application updates? I can't keep waiting months to get the latest bug fixes!

For example why has Coda 2 not been updated to version 2.0.4? Apple needs to improve the approval system. It has now been 2 months since Apple has approved Coda 2 updates. Coda 2 is not the only application experiencing similar issues. It is embarrasing when a vendor has to say this has been fixed but we are awaiting approval from Apple to update the app on the app store.
How embarrasing Apple! I am a long time Mac and iOS user myself and even I am strongly considering alternative solutions, need I say more.

And if the developer is lying to you? Perhaps the developer has failed to follow the Apple guidelines for iOS apps. To blame it on Apple alone is awfully convenient.
