Reference: Setttings; General; Reset
I have an iPhone 3g.
What happens to the iPhone when the Reset All Settings option is selected?
I would like to reset my iPhone to the original factory settings without losing my contact information and all of the pictures I have.
I understand the Erase All Content and Settings option but want to be sure I do not lose any any important information by using the first option.
Again, all I want to do is reset the phone to the original factory settings.
Thanks for any and all help with this.

I have reset my ipad using General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. And now it will not boot. All i see on screen is the Apple logo. What do i do?
When you restore, you can restore to factory settings or to a backup. Restoring to factory settings removes everything and takes you back to out of the box status and you start all over again. Restoring from your backup will replace all of your app data, bookmarks, email settings and things like that. You still may need to sync all of your purchased apps and music, photos and so on back to the iPad.
I assume you want to restore from your backup to put all of you data back on the device so connect the iPad to your computer, launch iTunes, right click on the device name on the left side under the devices heading and select restore from backup. After you restore from your backup, make sure that you sync all of your other content with iTunes. -
Contract reference field always resets to contract has no objects
Hi All,
When I'm configuring custom contract types in RE-FX the contract reference field always resets to 'contract has no objects' when I save it, no matter what value I enter such as 'objects are leased in'.
Would anyone know why this might be?
Thanks very muchHi Jamie,
Please check contract reference, Flex RE type, Fields in Contract type node in IMG -

Hello,
I needed to do a hard reset on my iPhone 3GS and it's taking me too much time. It's taking almost 3 hours by now!!!!
I did it by going to "Settings, General, Reset, Erase All Content and Settings", confirm it and then the iPhone turns off, gets the screen black with only the animated circle going on. And it's been there since then.
Is this a symptom of something bad? Should I do the hard reset by another way?Hello Ali Syed,
It sounds like your phone is stuck at the spinning gear icon on the screen after Erasing all Content and Settings on your device. I would start by resetting the device with this process:
To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
From: Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
If the issue persists you may need to put the phone into recovery mode, and then restore it with iTunes as a new device:
If you can't update or restore your iOS device

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
Take care,

Since the IOS7 is installed i cant delete apps. I tried the following with no result:
1/I hold the app till it wiggles but the cross does not appear;
2/ i could not delete it through i-tunes;
3/ i tried resetting the ipad through "settings/general/reset/all" then i get a restrictions password request whih i have no clue what it is (its not my unlock code)?
Is this a bug related to IOS 7 - I just installed the latest update also with no effect.
(I'm new to apple so any simple to understand advice is appreciated as my kids have added so many apps i can't add my music)It appears that you have restrictions turned on in settings that prohibit app deletion. Is your iPad a personal possession or does it below to the company you work for?

I cannot turn on my WIfi, if do this as advised: "3.Reset the network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings" will my email accounts be erased?
No, you will only have to rejoin all wifi network and re-pair any bluetooth devices.
However, I think this is your problem:
iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
One user reported that placing the iPod in the freezer fixed the problem.
Also heating sometimes works. See:
Why can't I select my wifi settings?
A trick that works frequently with iPhones:
Settings > AirPlane Mode ON, Do Not Disturb ON
Power down and wait 5-10 minutes
Power up
Settings > AirPlane Mode OFF, Do Not Disturb OFF
If not successful, an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is usually in order.

Control references/refnums: general info
Please forgive this question, I am a relatively new LV programmer and the help files & manual seem quite poor to me!
I am after some basic information about control references & refnums as I am sure they would be of help to me.
1. What are the main advantages in using them? (i.e. what they can achieve)
2. How are they implemented?
3. How is a control refnum/reference passed from one VI to another programmatically?
Huge thanks to anyone who may be able to shed some light on this topic.
Dan> 1. What are the main advantages in using them? (i.e. what they can
> achieve)
The references let you access properties and methods of controls on a
front panel. Previously, the access was limited to the diagram of that
panel, and each property node accessed a single particular control.
With control refnums, you can have one property node access an arbitrary
control with the refnum parameter controlling which one. You can also
send the refnums to subVIs meaning that the code can be abstracted to
simpolify your diagram and shared with other panels.
> 2. How are they implemented?
I assume you want to know how to use them. You right click on the
control or its terminal and under the create menu, next to where you can
create an implicit property node, you can also create a Reference node.
The datatype of this node is unique to the type of control that you
created it from, and when wired to a property node, the property node
will show the same properties as an implicit one. As an example, if you
have 8 Boolean buttons on your panel that need to be enabled, disabled,
hidden, colored, labeled, or whatever based upon the state of your
application. You can right click on the eight buttons creating
Reference nodes and build an array of the references. You can now loop
through your array and with one property node, set the properties of the
buttons based upon whatever logic or table of information that you need.
You can also do this in a subVI by passing the array of references to
the subVI.
It is also possible to get control refnums/references from other
properties. For example, a slider will give the reference to its
digital display, a graph will give references to its cursors, etc. It
is also possible to loop through the references of all objects on the
panel inspecting names or types rather than using the Create Reference
popup, but this is more advanced and requires casting the references.
If you really want to know how they are implemented, it is much like
file refnums or VISA refnums. I can give more info if you ask a more
specific question.
> 3. How is a control refnum/reference passed from one VI to another
> programmatically?
>
In the refnum palette there is a Control/VI refnum control. You drop it
on your subVI and right click to set the class. Note that there are
lots of classes arranged from basic to very specific. Class refnums
will convert to more basic automatically, but will not wire if they are
incompatible. So, if you are careful, you can select the class from the
menu and create the control refnum that you can wire to the connector
pane allowing you to pass refnums into the VI. A shortcut that is a bit
simpler is to draw the reference from the diagram to the subVI panel.
It will make the correctly typed control refnum for you, ready to wire
to the connector pane.
That is sort of the basic overview. You probably want to look at the
example -- general/cntrlref.llb/Property Nodes.vi. I also suspect that
the devzone contains other examples showing how they can be used. -
AMF3 references - do they reset for each serialized object?
I have been writing some PHP code to handle AMF3
serialization and deserialization so that I can pass objects back
and forth over a socket. In trying to implement the
AMF3
specification, I'm having a bit of trouble with the concept of
references. The
OSFlash
site has this to say:
References are more prominent in AMF3 than in AMF0, and one
should have two or three arrays to keep track of them, one for
strings, one for objects and possibly one for class definitions
(some combine the second and third array). References are
per-body, so the reference arrays should be reset every time
a new body is encountered (this can happen if calls are batched or
if a /onDebugEvents body is sent.
Does this mean that each time a serialized object is sent
with a socket.writeObject(someObj) call that I need to reset these
references and start from scratch? That would make A LOT of sense
because otherwise, these arrays to track objects would grow QUITE
large over time. You mean the lines below at Timer.java file?
#if (taskFired) // Task fired; run it, holding no locks
# task.run();
That's true; run() method is called synchronously.
It's a little bit confusing that TimerTask must implement
the Runnable interface just for this purpose. It let me
think that's another thread :))
It could have been another interface which would probably
be called "TimerContainer" or something like that.
Anyway, thanks for info.
java cannot do 'real-time' in any sense of the word.
As for your question about threading in
java.util.Timer...
/me quickly glances at the src code.
all the Tasks are executed from the same Thread
synchronously.
