Reference to attachments in ServiceLink

RC 2008.3
Is there is a reference to an attachment in the outbound xml generated by ServiceLink? We have a Service:Link agent that will be logging a ticket into an external system and we want to notify the recipient of the item in the external system that there could be an attachment on the requisition that they'll need to review.
I check the XML and did not see any references to the attachments.

Tim, no worries. Disappointing that a custom solution seems to be the way we need to go, but alas. If you have any questions about the custom solution please let me know - we were one of the first adopters I think and picked up a few things here and there:
- Apostrophe's in usernames causing issues saving
- Being able to add beyond the ordering moment.

You could move them into folders in Local Folders.

I have done as you said and observed that the error is coming at the final node "smtp client-send-message"
I did not installed any .NET or any other programs.

Calling a Visual C++ dll from CVI

I created a dll in visual C++, try to access it using .Net library APIs of CVI.
I am able to create the object of the class “Class1” correctly, but when I try to invoke a function of the class, I got error -6587(inaccessible error).
I attached my code, dll code for your reference.

Can you provide a screen shot of the error you are receiving? Have you marked the functions you are trying to call with extern C to specify that they are going to be used with the C compiler? Please see the followling link which discusses this topic.

LV 8.0 PDA "unknown error"

Whenever i try to build this VI, I get an unknown error prompt. I have attached the VI's for reference.

If it is a fresh install, it is probably not a vi.lib problem. Besides, it is very rare.
Some other things to check are: Are your eMbedded Visual C++ (sp4) and Pocket PC 2003 SDK (4.2.0) the same version as ours? I installed and updated mine in December. If the versions are different, that could be something.
Overall, I am not sure why you are getting an error. Sorry that I am not more help,

File attachment download problem with Chrome

hi,
I've been searching for a cure to this problem for days without success. Hopefully someone here will help me fix this annoying problem.
The problem:
1. First: When using Chrome (lastest as of today) to open an attachment in emails, Chrome
always saves the file as download.xyz where xyz is the extension.
2. Second: Sometimes it saves the file extension correctly, sometimes it just changes to something else like htm, ashx,... where the correct extension should be .doc or .xls.
I find this only happen with MS Office attachment files. Other browsers like Firefox, IE work just fine.
What is the problem and possible solution/work around for this?
We are using MS Exchange 2010 btw.

Try disabling plug-ins in Chrome and see if it works, if works you can pin-point out the exact plug-in causing the issue.
Type this in the chrome browser's address bar:

Mail - Is it possible to change length of attachment name displayed in message??

Mail messages show that there is an attachment both in the header and in the body of the message.
If the file name is more than a few characters long, the name gets shortened.
Is there a way to force Mail to display the entire file name (all characters)?
I use Macs in business, and I need to maintain records of incoming/outgoing correspondence and it is often important to have a record showing exactly what was attached to a given email message. My file names always include the date (YYYMMDD) so every file name is unfortunately always going to be well over 10 characters long.
I save the Mail messages as PDFs and while the existing behavior is better than Outlook (printed or PDF'ed messages don't show any reference to attachments at all) it would be excellent if I could get the entire file name to display.
Does anybody know if this can be done?

Import from Eudora - no messages in mailboxes

Having used Eudora for too many years, I now have a real mess in the references to attachments. Many of the attachments are no longer accessible from the messages that they arrived in, even though they are still in the attachments folder.
I thought I would try to clean up some of this mess by having Mail import the old mail from Eudora.
I kicked off Mail to import my Eudora mail, all 700MB of it (mainly attachments). 20 minutes later, it had finished. All the mailboxes were there. But there were no messages in them. Not-a-one! When I looked at the mailbox files, they were all very short. There were some attachments, but only 96MB of them.
I tried quitting and restarting Mail, rebooting the machine, and telling Mail to rebuild the mailboxes. Still no messages.
Does anyone have any idea what may have happened?

David,
the Eudora import of Mail has some serious shortcomings (like taking 20 minutes...) - you might want ot consider re-importing your Eudora mail using Eudora Mailbox Cleaner - it should give you much better results (the imported mailboxes initially will appear empty as well but rebuilding them should solve this issue - I guess you should try that first)

Problem with inbuilt Solaris Apache Web Server v 2.0.58

Set-up:
We are working on a custom application which works with the inbuilt Apache Web Server on the Sun Solaris platform. Here are the details of the versions of the various components involved:
Apache Web Server: Version 2.0.58
Platform: SunOS 5.10 Generic_127111-03
Our application is in the form of a shared library(.so binary) which is loaded into the Apache Web Server by mentioning the following directive in the Apache Web Server's configuration file (httpd.conf).
LoadModule at_module "/var/apache2/logs/sample/sample.so"
where, sample.so is our application's binary
and at_module is the name of the module.
httpd.conf file has been attached for your reference.

sample-apache.cpp - Sample program which is showing the problem.
httpd.h - Apache Software Foundation's file which contains the structure "request_rec" that represents the current request.
Problem summary:
For each request to the Apache Web server, the server maintains a table of type "apr_table_t" which contains the header environment from the request. There is a structure "request_rec" maintained in the httpd.h file:

In our case, when we try to retrieve the address of "headers_in", we get a NULL Value. Please refer to the attached "sample-apache.cpp" program. In this program, inside the access_checker() method, we try to retrieve the address of "headers_in" and get that as NULL:

Here is the output of the sample program after accessing the main page of the Web server:

Though we are able to retrieve one member of the structure request_rec (method), we are not able to retrieve the address of the other member (headers_in).
Observation:
We made an interesting observation that when we used the same sample program with the inbuilt Apache 2.0.52 Web Server on Solaris, we were able to successfully retrieve the address of headers_in. Here are the details of the set-up which is working fine:
Apache Web Server: Version 2.0.52
Platform : SunOS 5.10 Generic_118822-30
Thus, there is something different which has happened between the Sun's Solaris Apache Web Server's versions 2.0.52 and 2.0.58 which is making it unable to retrieve the address of the request headers (headers_in).
I am requesting someone to kindly shed light on this difference and let us know if we need to change the way of retrieving the request headers for Solaris Apache 2.0.58.

The only way you can achieve it is by running the web server to listen on port 80
Please change the port in your httpd.conf file for the webserver and restart it.
If any other processes are running/using on port 80 on that machine, then please stop them, otherwise you will not be able to achieve your requirement.

How to open an external file in Labview?

Hi, Who knows how to open an external file in LabView? I want to open an .UDL file(data link API) which is a dialog window letting me input correlated database information, but I dont know how to open this type of file in my LabView Program.

A UDL is technically a text file, so you could open it with "Read Characters from file", put the result string into a string control, edit it and save it back using the "Write Characters to File".
UDLs however have their own configuration dialog embedded in the Windows OS. You can use this dialog in your LabVIEW application. The attached VI shows how to create a new UDL. You can edit an existing UDL by switching the method node to PromptEdit and wiring in an open ADO connection reference.

Producer-consumer design for temperature and pressure acquisition

I am working on my first LabVIEW program in version 8.6. I eventually want to be able to take both temperature and pressure measurements (6 RTDs and 2 pressure sensors), write them to files, compare the temperatures, and then turn 9 heaters (2 zones) on and off depending on the temperatures and temperature differences. I will also need to have necessary alarms and emergency shut down if something overheats.
To start, I am just working with temperature. I have made a program that reads 2 RTDs with the NI9217 in the cDAQ 9172. It plots the temperatures and writes them to file. Then it compares the 2 temperatures. If the temperature difference is greater than the user defined difference, an LED alarm lights up. This loops until the user presses the stop button.
The program runs, but then I get a 200279 error. It says that increasing the buffer may do the trick; however, I read online and watched a video on the producer/consumer design, which I think might do the trick. I am hoping with the producer/consumer design that I will be able to sample the temperatures faster (especially once I have 6 RTDs and 2 pressure sensors). Right now it takes about 11 seconds for the loop to run.
I have played around with trying to do the producer/consumer design, but I am not having much luck. I am not sure how to set it up. Do I need to have one producer loop with the DAQ assistant, and then 2 consumer loops (one for each RTD)? If I have 2 consumer loops, how do I then synchronize the data to compare the temperatures that were taken at the same time?
If I only use 1 consumer loop, how do I separate the data that is coming from one RTD vs. the other RTD?
Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have attached my attempt at the producer-consumer design. It runs much faster than the VI I attached in my first posting; however, it has bugs.
When I press the stop button, I get an error 1 (occurred at Dequeue Element).
Also, how do I get the graphs to plot with a fixed axis? For example I would like to see the plot of 5mins worth of data. I have tried turning off the autoscale, but it does not keep the axis from changing.
Any suggestions on how I can clean up this program? When I get to adding more RTDs, should they all be in this same consumer loop?
What would be the best way to add in the pressure data? With another producer loop and another consumer loop?

E66 .wav file attachment download

On the E51 and E65 when an email attachment that is a .wav file was downloaded, the phone would allow playback immediately without saving or any other action. On the E66 as with the N95 the file comes up with the attachment but will not allow it to be immediately played. The only way that I have been able to figure out playing the attachemtn is to save it to the phone internally in "sound clips". I must then go to sound clips and play the file from there after downloading and saving. There must be a better wa to do this. Any help would be appreciated.

Duplicate clips in my footage bin

I'm doing the Premiere Pro CC Eagle Doc. tutorial. After completing it, I started cutting a new sequence using the same clips. However, for some reason, the clips I used in the second sequence were duplicated in
the footage bin. When I tried to delete them, I got a message saying that I was deleting clip references (see attachments). In addition, when I did delete two clips from the footage bin, they also vanished from the second sequence.
Why is it necessary for PP to create duplicate clips in the bin for a new sequence? It only leads to clutter and confusion in the bin. Is there a way to prevent this?

I've not seen that when duplicating a sequence, but I have seen it when importing a sequence or a project into a new project. Did you maybe duplicate the project and then paste in or import the old sequence instead of just duplicating the sequence within the same project?
The reason for importing all the media into the new project is so that the media associated with the imported sequence is accessible in the new project, which makes sense. If the media is not actually used somewhere in an open sequence, you can delete it without being warned that the media will be removed from a timeline.
Of course, bugs do still happen, so, as a test, could you select just the sequence in the project panel, right click it and select 'duplicate' and see if you get three sets of media?

Attachment Download Problem

I use FIREFOX as my default browser for years. Yahoo is my main e-Mail, yet use Hotmail too. For 2 days now, I can not download any attachments (PDF, JPG, DOC, MPEG ect.) from any of my Yahoo accounts. If I forward the same mail to my Hotmail account, open it on FIREFOX, I can perfectly download the same attachment I couldn't from Yahoo.

LVOOP class in Seattle

I'm trying to get NI to hold the LabVIEW Object-Oriented Programming System Design class in the Seattle area this fall/winter. So far, we have narrowed it down to the first half of December. You can use the application builder to redirect the VI's that you were putting into an EXE into an LLB. In theory you should then be able to use the VI server to call the VI's. You will have to verify this.
First organize your plugin VI's into folders in the project tree if you have not done so already. Then, in the Build Specification:
1. In the Destination section, create a custom destination for each plugin folder. Make the sure the "Destination is LLB" box is checked.
2. In the Source File Settings section for each plugin folder check the "Set destination for all contained items" box and choose a destination created in step 1 above.
3. In the Source File Settings section for each individual VI, set the "Inclusion Type" to "Dynamic VI". Each individual VI destination should already be chosen and grayed out (set in step 2 above). Right now you have to do this for each individual VI, you cannot do it from the folder it is in. I have a tech support query into NI regarding this. For a large amount of VI's, this will be cumbersome.
Using this approach, we have been able to modularize our code into one main EXE and multiple library files. The library files contain functions, sorta like a "DLL" approach. We then have more configuration control which makes release testing easier. We do have to be careful to ensure that the same VI (such as vi.lib VI's) do not end up in multiple LLB's. This will cause VI name collisions.
I have attached an example project to illustrate this. It is a LabVOOP implementation of a timer class by reference.
