Reference to older Photoshop versions ?
I recently looked inside the Roaming\Adobe folder and noticed not only an Adobe Photoshop CC folder, also these folders; why are they there when CS3 and CS4 were never installed ?
Adobe Photoshop CS3
Adobe Photoshop CS4
Adobe Photoshop CS5
Adobe Photoshop CS6
This would not impact your PS CC in anyway. but they should get created only when PS CS3 or CS4 was installed on your system.
Did you use Creative Suite for the mentioned versions?

When Importing a pdf into photoshop CC it corrupts the artwork slightly but in older photoshop version it does not corrupt? [email protected]"Slightly corrupted" sounds very much akin to "slightly pregnant". Hard to imagine.
I assume you're referring to some sort of image quality deterioration or some added artifacts.
Could you post a screen shot? Just so that someone familiar with PDFs opened in CC can form an idea of the nature of the "corruption" and where the cause might lie.
If you post back, please give complete hardware and software details about your setup, including the exact version of CC so they can see if all updates have been applied.

Seeing text like in older Photoshop versions
I have Photoshop 5.5 and CS5. I like the speed and additional features of CS5, but there are a few things that I really don't like. Perhaps I simply don't know how to use it properly.
One of my problems concerns text. In older versions of Photoshop, if you wanted to enter text, a dialog box would come up and you'd do everything there. Meanwhile, the text would appear on your image in its final form. In newer versions, you're typing on the image itself. Then, if you want to edit the text (font face, size, etc.), you have to highlight the text on the image, which inverts the color and then you make changes via the options in the header. You can't really see how it's going to look until you finish your changes and un-highlight it.
Is there a way for me to make changes to the text on an image so that I can see the text as it will ultimately look AS I'm making the edits, similar to older Photoshop versions?Turn off auto select on the move tool.

I have to reinstall my version of photoshop version 7.0 but the CD is damaged.

Am I entitled to download CS2 products when I own an older Photoshop version?
I just installed my owned Photoshop CS (1), and can no longer activate it on my machine, meaning I can't use it after a 30-day trial period.
According to this page (http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/creative-suite-2-activation-end-life.htm l) any version of Photoshop or other Adobe software older than CS3 will no longer activate.
But it only gives a solution to those who own CS2. It says "The serial numbers provided as a part of the download may only be used by customers who legitimately purchased CS2 or Acrobat 7 and need to maintain their current use of these products."
I have Photoshop CS (1), so does this solution not apply to me? I know that I can download CS2 from there, there's nothing actually stopping anyone from downloading them, but that's not what I'm asking. I'm asking if I'm actually entitled to it?
And if I'm not, what am I supposed to do? I can't justify spending £600 on new software when what I had has everything I need and runs perfectly fine on my machine. Is the software I paid for completely useless now?

I am apparently behind the curve because I just recently tried to install my CS photoshop on a new computer and learned all about this "free download" "issued serial number" "customers entitled to copy as a courtesy" "server shutdown" situation. I feel so cheated because I cannot use my older version or successfully activate the "free" download solution. Do any of you have suggestions this late in the game?
When this all started and I chatted with customer support, the download option was not mentioned. I was directed to purchase a new version. Erg. I just need the features that I have been using for years! I need my program that I already spent hundreds of dollars on!

I had an early version of Photoshop (2.0 I think) that worked perfect on windows vista. I bought a new laptop with windows 8.1 and the Photoshop won't install. Which version of Photoshop compatible with Windows 8.1 is closest to the older Photoshop?
I think you mean Photoshop CS2. Photoshop 2 is from around 1992. The old Adobe activation servers were taken down. CS2 is about a decade old Adobe made a new download for old customers that legal customers can download and install. Download Acrobat 7 and CS2 products

Well, it does depend a bit on whether he/she lives in a country where tuition might be zero, and the minimum monthly wage far lower than in the West. Perhaps CC is not even available in his/her country. Perhaps he/she has to take care of an entire family as well - and no money is left for anything as luxurious as a CC subscription.
We have no way of knowing his/her circumstances. They might be bad. If they are, I doubt Adobe will care she/he is using a cracked old version to learn the craft, and then go legit at a later time when she/he can afford it to produce professional work.
Honestly, I feel Adobe should just provide their tools for free for students. Autodesk does that. No reason why Adobe should not follow suit. Most students I know work with cracked versions anyway. -
After installation of latest Bridge and Photoshop version (2014.2.2) *.CR2 files will not be displayed correctly anymore, neither in preview nor in Camera Raw dialogue.
Some pictures have white squares with blue and red diagonal stripes that cover almost the complete picture.
When opening those files I have the same problem in Camera Raw dailogue and even in Photoshop eventually.
I tried to open the same same pictures on another computer with the same version of Bridge and Photoshop but the problem remains the same.
It seems like the files itselves are still ok, because if you open an explorer window the previews of the pictures are all ok. And the pictures' sizes remain the same.
I tried to clear the cache in both programs but it didn't help.

Photoshop: Press and hold Control - Shift - Alt immediately upon cold-starting Photoshop. If you get the keys down quickly enough - and you have to be VERY quick - it will prompt you to confirm deletion of your established preferences, which will lead to them all being set to defaults.

Adobe Reader for Windows Phone cannot open older PDF versions?
I've found that Adobe Reader for Windows Phone displays the following error when I try to open certain PDF documents: "There was an error opening the document".
After doing some limited testing I found that it can successfully open PDF documents which were saved as "PDF version: 1.5 (Acrobat 6.x)", but the error appears when it tries to open documents saved as the older format "PDF version: 1.3 (Acrobat 4.x)". (I am checking the filetype version by opening the documents in Adobe Reader X on my PC and looking at the document properties).
My phone is a HTC 7 Mozart running Windows Phone 7.5. I noticed the problem when I was using the SkyDrive app to try and look at some PDF files I have saved in SkyDrive. SkyDrive downloads the file and then passes it to the Adobe Reader app to view. It works when I look at a newer version 1.5 PDF but not the older v1.3 type. Unfortunately my HP Photosmart 5510 scanner outputs scans as PDF files and only in the older file version.
I've tried reinstalling the SkyDrive app and the Adobe Reader app on my phone. (The Adobe Reader app is version 10.1.1, build 20120919).
Is this a known limitation, or is this a bug?
If this is a limitation that won't be fixed - is there an easy way I can convert my files to the newer file type? (Adobe Reader X on my PC doesn't seem to offer a way to convert existing files)

How can I move my pix from one photoshop version to another?
I have Photoshop Album Starter Ed 3 downloaded in Jan 2007 which currently has all my pix (only about 50). Last Aug, a tech downloaded PhotoDeluxe 2 while doing some work on my computer. I have been unable to transfer the pix from the Starter Ed to the PhotoDeluxe. I just purchased Elements 7 and want to move the pix to that application and delete the 2 older Photoshops. I keep running into file path problems. I have tried to copy all the pix to a CD and then reload in the PhotoDeluxe catalog but it never works. Before I load the Elements 7 I want to be sure of being able to transfer all my pix. This may be a simple problem to solve but I admit I am still uneducated in some aspects of computer use. Please help if you can.
No. You can delete it from their iTunes library and make a new one, but it'll remain tied to that iTunes Store account.

Where are the older BIOS versions gone?

A few weeks back, I've upgraded the BIOS on my Pavilion G6 1001sq to the latest version (F66). I noticed that the laptop is running considearbly hotter since then and I want to revert to an older BIOS version. When I go to the updates page on the HP website and click on "older versions available" I can only see the F66 version on the page I'm directed to ( http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/previousVersions?softwareitem=ob-115746-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=4... ), although a long list with many versions was available till recently. Where are the older versions gone?Unfortunately, I do not know where they have gone. HP is working on issues with the suport and driver servers at the moment.
Since your notebook does have the UEFI Diagnostics installed, you should be able to rollback to the previous version that was installed. Use the firmware management option to do that.

When I have finished working on an image in Photoshop and I hit the "save" button, it goes instead to the "save as" screen. This never happened in previous Photoshop versions. When I get to Lightroom, I have a grey screen the says "File could not be found." I then have to go to "locate" to get the image. When I select the correct image, I get a message that it is not the same file name but I am eventually able to access the image. Needless to say this is having a negative impact on workflow!
The problem with write permissions for the OneDrive folder only shows up in Lightroom 6's export dialogue, that's why it's to irritating. Lightroom 5.7.1 is not having that problem nor does the file explorer. The problem also exists on both of my machines. Because Photoshop is an Adobe product you should be asking on an Adobe product forum or calling Adobe for assistance. Also your profile isn't complete but it does indicate you own a Mac Pro, this is an Intel based iMac forum. If you do have a Mac Pro please re-consider posting there. To complete your profile please click Profile Update, by doing so this helps the volunteers know basics about your system such as which version of OS X is installed, the exact model you own, the amount of installed RAM etc.... Without that information diagnosing an issue is much more difficult. -

Final Cut Pro 7 not recognizing Sony HDV Deck on older 2008 version MacPro's
I am trying to connect a Sony HDV deck to Final Cut Pro version 7 on an older 2008 version MacPro. The problem was with the firewire mini port on the back i believe because i used a different deck which was the same model - but the only difference was it had a firewire 400 port instead of mini firewire port. Anyway, the deck with the 400 firewire port worked for logging and capturing, etc... (this also worked when i re-tested it on the 2008 MacPro) Im wondering if anyone else has had problems with the firewire mini port on the Sony HDV deck because it seems like almost every HDV deck i have with mini firewire has problems connecting to final cut pro or any editing application. I know now that the deck i had in question the mini port is not working correctly but is there a way to fix this or prevent the cable - deck from terminating the connection with the mini cable being used. I dont need an answer to the deck problem because i figured it out but just wondering if anyone has some insight on this deck problem. Thank you...

So you don't want an answer, just insight. OK, I'll give it a go. I've had several Sony VTRs with the 4pin Firewire port (proper name for what you refer to as "mini"), which is the same type of port that most DV and HDV cameras use as well. One of the main things you need to be wary of is plugging in and unplugging a Firewire cable while either the device or the computer is powered on. I know that marketing hype claims that Firewire is hot swap-able, but it really isn't safe to do so. The pins in both the 4 pin connector as well as the 6 pin connectors are very close together and if they aren't aligned exactly right with the socket, can easily cause arching and damage a Firewire port on either or both ends. Is that the kind of insight you were looking for?
